WOW. THE FOOD!! JUST... WOW.
This was our 1st time visiting Monona Bakery & Eatery. I had the French Toast, and my partner had breakfast tacos.
We have traveled all over the globe, and I have never had a better French toast! The tacos were delicious, and the coffee was bold and tasty.
We shared the Tres Letches' cake, and WOW! Best we've ever had!
The atmosphere could be a bit better by American standards, but the food is so amazing that I would eat under a bridge if I had to.
And THE BAKERY!!!! Honestly, I may need to move to Monona just to be closer.
RUN, don't walk to try this out!!

I really love the croissants at this Bakery. Also, I think it may be the only place in Monona to get a croissant. The issue I have is that I have been there three times in the past 2 weeks around 8:15 a.m. and they have no croissants ready for purchase. I just want to be able to buy a nice baked item on my way to work. It's disappointing.

The food was tasty and arrived quickly.
This time service was not so good. Guy who takes our order was not attentive. As a result missed eclair and received wrong cup of tea.
Unfortunately the cup was dirty on the outside.

Used to drop hundreds here just to support my people — definitely not for the food, because I cook better at home.
Today I walked in ready to order, and before I could say anything, the worker decided parking was more important than customer service. Then had the nerve to talk slick in Spanish like we wouldn’t catch it. I immediately walked out because i will not eat or spend another dime at an establishment where im not respected . Over something so minuscule . Especially knowing that we were not dining in .
Bad food, bad attitude, bad business.
Don’t recommend. At all. 💯

My crepes were good and the friend I was with liked their food but it took over 30 minutes for us to get it and I had to ask and I did so very politely I know that the food got started after I mentioned that we hadn't received it because then it was an extra 15 minutes before we were served. I was looking forward to going there but was disappointed.

A little gem of a place in Madison, closer to Monona. Their breakfast burrito, the breakfast hash, home fries, chocolate chip cookies, chai iced latte, and carrot cake are the bomb! Very homemade and fresh ingredients. You can tell it’s very good because it’s packed with locals, families, local high schoolers, older adults. It’s small with only about 10 tables, but it’s cozy. They have a few outdoor tables too. I loved it!

We loved this place so much, we went there for breakfast each day of our trip! The menu has a ton of variety, so there is something for everyone. The options for pastries and desserts was almost overwhelming there were so many. The food does take awhile, but that is because everything is made fresh from scratch. You can tell from the flavor that they use quality spices and ingredients. Everything we tried was delicious.

I enjoyed the Plato Tipico with Beef. The beef was well seasoned, and everything on the plate felt very fresh. It was also a significant amount of food for the price I paid. Pretty much, I was in the mood for something different, drove by here, remembered it served Honduran food, and was very impressed.
The Honduran Rice Pudding was very good too, and you get a lot of it for the price. Axel, the person at the counter, was quite impressive, handling a steady flow of customers all by himself.
The Monona Bakery and Eatery impressed me in both service and food. If you're in the mood for something new, I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Google Maps led us to a spot across the street from Monona Bakery and Eatery, but we were really happy to look up at the right moment and notice it in its actual location. The woman at the register was friendly and helpful as I wanted a suggestion as Honduran food was new to me. She helped me choose "Plato Típico" with chicken and fried plantains. Delicious! The restaurant is bustling with activity as people walked in for pastries or ordered a meal from their menu full of great choices. You grab a menu, find a table, figure out what you want, and order at the register. Easy and casual. Nice vibe there. I wish we lived closer so we could keep eating at Monona Bakery!

We went to Monona Bakery for a late afternoon lunch on the weekend. We were just after the lunch/brunch crowds so it was not busy (thankfully.) We started off with an order of chips and medium salsa. Chips were FRESHLY made and still hot!! Yum. The medium salsa wasn’t too spicy. I ordered the Enchiladas Mole (one steak, one chicken, one cheese) and the hunny got chilaquiles with green sauce and a bowl of chili. Enchiladas were delicious! I think for my tastes the chicken worked best for the mole sauce, which was surprisingly nutty. Loved it! My husband loved the chilaquiles. Unique with the green sauce and feta cheese, and he said it hit the spot. The chili was decent. But was fairly average in flavor. Not bad, but didn’t have the flavor pizzazz we were anticipating.
I took one star off for atmosphere only because there was someone continually sweeping the floor and moving chairs the whole time we ate (which was a little loud at times and distracting.) But to be expected when you dine at off hours I suppose. Not a deterrent, just an observation.
Definitely will return and try another great dish. (Or get the Mole again with all 3 chicken enchiladas!!)

Will never go back! Food took 50 minutes for a table of 2. I ordered eggs over easy, they were hard. Bacon was cold and I had to suck on it before I could even chew it. Sourdough toast was totally stale with no butter. Friend found a big wad of hair in her eggs benedict. The pastry display had a ton of fruit flies in it. Totally disgusting and I will report. The good reviews are from months ago. Something has changed!! Disgusting, couldn't wait to get out of there.

The place is ABSOLUTELY CONSTANTLY BUSY! The people never once stopped coming in while we were there. Their Bakery is the bomb! SO much 2 chose from. It ALL looks delishl! And the prices can absolutely not B beat! We spent $57 just on the Bakery products. We could not make up our minds. We left with 3 bags full of goodies. And the food was nothing short of AMAZING! Everything we had was beyond yummy and delicious. And absolutely NOTHING was too spicy. U can ask for it 2 B made that way and to ask 4 spicier sauces. But as a general rule, it's absolutely all edible with out the aid of multiple Alka Seltzers or Tums afterwards. And they had a huge assortment of pops in bottles and cans to choose from. We chose Mexican Coke to drink. But then took home 3 cans each of a juice beverage that was pineapple flavored and guava flavored. We also took home a case of Jarritas pop. Love that stuff. Got mandarin, pineapple, Mango, guava and strawberry. I was born and raised in Monterey, MX and have been drinking Jarritas my whole life, and I'm 63 yo now. Any time I find it, I always buy a flat of them. We R gonna go back here to get some food for our Christmas Eve as we always make that night all about my Mexican upbringing. And we will definitely B getting more Bakery products and more of their spritz cookies as well. Also have a Buche Noel ordered for our Christmas day dessert. U could get it with Strawberries or Raspberries. We got one of each. The Strawberries with chocolate cake and the Raspberry with white cake. YUMMMM!!!

Staff is super friendly and fun to chat with and everything I’ve tried there is delicious (from brunch to the bakery case). They have really phenomenal matcha — and had seasonal Rose matcha and butterfly pea matcha at some point too that were also amazing. I’ve dined in several times, but most recently I ordered $30 worth of desserts (which you get a LOT of dessert for your money — tres leches, churros, cake, & more) for delivery to a friend in need of a pick-me-up, and they said it was some of the best sweets they’ve ever had.

Today I came for lunch craving pupusas. I sadly came during rush time 10:50 am. I place my order of 4 pupusas behind a large order. For context they also ordered pupusas. It took them 30 minutes to serve me food. After sitting down and think about it the situation I can understand. But I feel my order could've been tagged with the large order to ensure a shorter time frame.
That being said the food.
I don't ever remember being this sad and disappointed. It's bland beyond anything I've had in my life. They use mozzarella instead of quesillo that can be easily bought at a Mexican store run by a Nicaraguan gentleman on the Eastside. This is a Honduran restaurant I'd expect they would source central American ingredients for their food. There curtido is a sad excuse for what real curtido is and the tomato sauce is bland as well. Mass production grocery store tomato sauce has more flavor than this. If you'd like closer salvadorean pupusas try FINCA COFFEE instead.
The flan I had was very well executed it was lovely.

Monona Bakery has consistently fantastic quality that'll have you coming back as soon as you can.
It's the perfect little spot for breakfast, with a fulfilling menu including a lemon bernaise and asparagus eggs benedict on a croissant.
The food is incredible, but of course the star of the show is their bakery. Anything you pick is a safe bet. We love their unique guava and cheese danishes, chocolate croissants, and tres leches cake.
The workers are always so accommodating and happy to serve us. We love to try their new menu items and will continue to support this business with a smile.

I have been here twice now. First time I got the berry crepes and quiche, with a horchata latte. It was all very good, I devoured it all and I was eager to go back. Second time I felt that we waited a long time for our food, saw multiple tables who ordered behind us get their food first. I tried the Quinoa Power Bowl and got the horchata latte again. I was disappointed the bowl was mostly spinach with some quinoa sprinkled on top, definitely not what I was expecting, they should call it a spinach salad, not a quinoa bowl. It tasted just okay, not very filling. The horchata latte this time was not good either, it was bitter and grainy. I'll likely go back, probably for those crepes again. But disappointed that the consistency is not there. Staff was friendly.

I spied the Monona Bakery & Eatery as I was trying to get some drapes pressed at the nearby dry cleaners, which didn't pan out. It was b4 11am on a Saturday & we could use a pastry with breakfast so I stopped in. Folks were gathered outside eating at tables & as I entered, and others eating at tables inside. The pastry display cases are right inside the front door so I was immediately enticed! Two servers asked to help me right away & I could order immediately. I ordered two raspbery / cheese croissants & 1 blueberry scone, to go. We ate the croissants that morning & shared the scone, two days later, (reheated for 30 seconds at power level 4) and it was really delicious & had just the right moisture level.
After I paid, I saw the other sweets they offered and wished I'd ordered some of them too!

You are greeted with a warm smile as soon as you walk in. Service is awesome and their desserts are out of this world. My favorites are their Danish pastries (cheese, guava, and pineapple), raspberry croissant, and the super moist carrot cake. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with any of their pastries. Knowing the pastries are made fresh daily gives me a greater appreciation for the staff! The food is great too! Pancakes are light and fluffy, the French toast has the right amount of batter and sweetness; I can go on and on about Monona Bakery and Eatery. Trust me when I say you have to experience their delicious culinary masterpieces with your taste buds.

First time here. They have breakfast all day, lots of coffee options & some alcohol options. The menu includes traditional American breakfast items in addition to Honduran & Mexican options. Quality of food is fantastic! Service is great. This is my new go-to breakfast spot :)

This place has it all! I had a delicious latte and the Verde Enchiladas. I'd been wanting to have them again. They did not disappoint and I had enough to take home. Their bakery items are wonderful! We had the Tres Leche cake-- oh my.
I'll be going back soon.
