Awesome hidden gem!! All the staff are amazingly friendly. The food…. 10/10. Some of the best around to be honest. It’s a small kitchen so be mindful of larger orders. But never the less, they will hustle to get you taken care of. I’ve seen the fryer and kitchen be cleaned every time I’m there. So you know that oil is fresh. Come check it out.

Visiting from Illinois for the weekend. Came here for lunch after bike riding all morning. Food was good, service was great and friendly. Lots of updating happening. Loved Montana Rae's story as the new owner. We purchased some tshirts in support of her journey! Would definitely come back.

Have been here twice while on vacation and definitely going back many more times! Montana makes everything herself. Fresh, delicious food and very friendly service. Honey beer battered flounder was to die for! Burgers are juicy and flavorful. My husband couldn’t put the brat and burger down! Typically has daily specials but also a board with off-menu items. You literally cannot go wrong. We’ve eaten in 10 states this trip and extended our visit here because of the great food and small town vibe here.

You always get a friendly waitress there whether it’s Montana or one of her employees and you also get a really good meal. And you are feeling welcome when you’re there one of the best places in town one of the few places to get a nice Smelt supper.!!!

I’m not so sure about the reviews as I checked them before ordering for take out…walking in you immediately feel uncomfortable being stared at by patrons “regulars” then, from the other end of the bar, the bartender says “order for take out”, gosh, am I that obvious. The food, yes it was hot but oh my gosh grease logged….I used 3 paper towels soaking up oil from our potatoes, and I really got that old oil taste from everything?? Sent the leftover chicken home with our company bcuz I didn’t want any of it! I won’t return, just wasn’t what I expected from reading most of these reviews!

First time there since the new owner took over. Inside was nice and it looks like some renovations are underway. Service was quick and friendly. The menu has a good selection of appetizers and hand helds.

The Food was delicious! The broasted chicken is juicy and flavorful. I had one of the best spicy chicken sandwiches I have ever had. The chicken was thick and fried to perfection with good heat. They have good Old Fashions as well. Reasonably priced as well. We plan on checking this place out more.

Formally known as Tippy's. Now called Montana Rae's. Will never in my life go here again. The new owner, Montana, has her favorite customers that she is sweet and nice to. And as for others, like myself and a few other friends, has attitude and is rude/disrespectful to. Was trying to let her know that when she had a moment that we wanted to place an order. When said her name, her response was "what." The tone of her voice, was unnecessary and uncalled for. Whether a person likes someone or not, or in my case, doesn't know someone, when working with customers, the server, bartender, owner, should keep a positive attitude, regardless. Especially when Montana had just come in to work. We left without ordering food. Super unhappy about our visit there. Owner needs attitude adjustment 💯💯 if you stop in here for food, brat pattys are good, and so is the jalapeno cheese curds, when cooked fully.

This place took the longest I've had to wait in my life for food when no one else was here to eat. Everyone else in the restaurant was at the bar and the employees still took an hour. The waitress didn't put effort in to be nice. The food was alright, mediocre. Probably good bar food when drunk. A very local and personal place that doesn't seem open to people passing by. I feel bad for leaving a poor review, but they put little to no effort in to please us as new faces and new customers.

I was trying to order food. Waited about 20 minutes, just to be ignored and a group of people came in after us. They took there order and continued to ignored my party. The woman working seem to be racist by ignoring my party even after calling her over.

The owner is a respectful person, really bad the people working for him don't know customer service.

Just the other day we came in and one of my friends paid with a $100 bill and the guy decided to tip himself $10. After my friend told him about the issue, the guy simply turned around and walked away.

Went there Mother’s Day night for takeout treat of Smelt basket. First of all, we called in 1 3/4 hours early & was told it would be ready at 5:45 pm, when we arrived, we were told it would not be ready for 10-15 minutes. We stopped back to pickup in 10 minutes & we were out the door to eat in the car over looking Lake Michigan. When we opened the carry out containers, we found the smelt & fries soggy like it was sitting for a while. There were no utensils or napkins In the bag only. Sorry we wasted our money & didn’t go to Port Sandy Bay instead.

It is hard to explain what this bar was like for visiting inner city Chicagoans... Like... You can't t really believe that the owner could possibly pack more green and yellow into a pub or that such rabid supporters of the packers could be so warm and welcoming to their arch rivals from Chicago. This bar offers great food and an other-worldly atmosphere that makes a person seriously doubt he is not on candid camera. Low prices. High quality.
