Not even oily, almost like they ring it out before they bring it to your plate. My dad would always bring me here whenever I'd come and visit him.It was his favorite place to go in the Northwoods.

Some of the best fried and baked Haddock I have had in awhile. Val was a great and attentive waitress. The Old Fashions were on point. Random appetizer choice of potstickers, but they were fantastic. Everything was very reasonable in price.

The atmosphere was adorable and the view to the lake was stunning. Great way to spend the 4th of July in the Northwoods.

This is one of the only restaurants I give a straight 5 stars. Ribeye was outstanding and done to perfection. All the staff were so caring and very professional from the bar-back to the waitress. It was a VERY busy night but our group of 20 was always taken care of promptly. Finally I'll say the Chef is an ARTIST in the kitchen!

Under new ownership as of April 2024. Perch fry has gone downhill. Fillets are bigger, but you only get 3, where you used to get 5-6, and breading was salty. Tiny dollop of coleslaw. My baked haddock was so salty I could barely eat it, and portion was barely half of what it used to be. Baby red potatoes used to be large chunks are now all chopped up in tiny pieces. We were regulars under the previous owners, but doubt we'll go back. Ruined a very good thing.

Moondance is definitely not itself. We live across the street from the bar. We love Val (server) and were super happy to see that she was still there, although she was not our server this evening. The food was Ok, I ordered a 1/2 pound burger that definitely wasn't and I ordered bacon on it (would recommend Honey Bear for the 1/2 pound burger, AWESOME). When the food finally came out I was told they didn't do bacon on Friday.... LOL What???? Do you think this fact was relevant to my order, like maybe I would want something else based on this fact??? Nope, just said here ya go and placed it in front of me. We tried to order another glass of wine, the waitress never came back to the table until she brought the food I didn't order. Never got that glass of wine BTW.... terrible service. On top of that, when they brought the bill they charged me for the bacon they apparently don't do on Fridays (again WHAT????).
Don't know that I will go back which is too bad, used to be one of our favorite places.

Everything about this place was great...the staff, food, ambience and view. Some outdoor seating, in addition to the
indoor seating, plenty of beverage choices at the bar and super friendly staff who wanted to be sure the food was to our liking. My hubby had the ribs which he loved! My broasted chicken was juicy and flavorful with mashed potatoes that tasted like real potatoes. Other family members had the chicken strips, black n blue burger, etc. All agreed each of our meals was VERY good and reasonably priced. We will definitely be going back!

Moondance Bar & Grill is an excellent place! When we arrived there were folks walking out in swim suits and life vests, carrying their to-go drinks, headed across the road to boat landing! Upon entering, we were greeted almost in unison by the 3-4 servers, bartender & cook! Of course we were the only couple there as it was 3pm on Fathers Day Sunday, lunch crowd had just left, and the dinner crowd hadn't come in yet. We had the place to ourselves! Golf on the TV's for my hubby to enjoy, and great music was playing over head while I browsed the decor! Lots of quirky "up north" stuff and old license plates hung above the bar. All very clean and well dusted! They are situated on a small lake, and the view from the bar was very nice! We ordered burgers and fries. They came remarkably fast and hot! THEY WERE AWESOME. Hubby had Black & Blue with a Bourbon sauce that was to-die for! I had Bacon Cheese, which was excellent as well. While talking to the bartender, we learned they serve Prime Rib EVERY NIGHT! They also serve their Fish Fry on both Thursday & Friday. Since it's a tourist area, the locals come on Thursday, and leave Friday Nights to the out of towners, both nights draw a good crowd, but I hear you have to get their early to have a chance at snagging the broiled cod, as it goes fast! We both had a nice cold pint of beer from a local brewery. My Blueberry Train Wheat Ale was wonderful, and the hubby's Amber was equally good. Nice chats with both the bartender, and our waitress. Both were attentive and enjoyable to talk with. We had driven up from the Wausau area, and it was a pleasant ride on a beautiful day. We will certainly plan to come back up for the Fish Fry (on a Thursday!) and then again, another night to try the prime rib. Can't wait! Thank you Moondance Bar & Grill - you were a great find on Father's Day - We'll be seeing you soon!

Prime rib was charbroiled and I’m sure it wasn’t prime rib, more like having steak thrown on the grill. Chefs special potatoes were mashed potatoes with too much pepper and a little shredded cheese on top. There were no prices on the menu but they charge fine dining prices. Won’t go again.

We live locally and frequent Moondance several times each year. We've had good food, atmosphere and service on each and every visit. During busy seasons, we often skip Friday fish frys anywhere, just because of the crowds. For this reason, the addition of Thursday fish frys are much appreciated!

We had the baked haddock. Portion was very nice size for the price. The seasoning was good, but not enough of it. The "butter" for dipping was not butter. The red roasted potatoes were very good and so was the coleslaw. The table next to us has the fried fish and it looked amazing. They didn't even leave crumbs. Didn't care for the sole butter with cheese curds. Curds were very good. Apple butter was too, just not together.

We had read the reviews, and upon the insistence of friends, went to Moondance for the Friday fish fry. I have a couple of questions…where do you people normally eat? Are your taste buds dead? This by far was one of the worst we have ever had! My husband ordered the fried haddock…tasted fishy, and I had the baked…no amount of squeezed lemon or melted butter could moisten this piece! What a waste of a good filet!!! Very dry, chewy, and dull. Do we not understand it should be glistening, moist, and delicate?? It truly was disgusting, what a disappointment. We need new friends

We went to Moondance for their Friday night fish fry and had an excellent experience. The portions were large, the batter was light and delicious, the service was prompt and friendly, and they had really tasty old fashioneds. Try the cheese curds with apple butter. Sound odd but they are delicious. Next time we go, we'll get there early to enjoy a cocktail outside in their beautiful lakeside setting before dinner. Highly recommended!

This is my favorite bar in the country. I like the food, staff, atmosphere and the owner. I live in the state of Washington, 2000 miles away and always make an effort to visit when in the midwest. It's worth the drive up from Chicago or over from Minneapolis. Try the breasted chicken if you get the chance. Lots of great bars in Wisconsin. This ones the best!
