Description

The Nightingale Supper Club has been serving Door County families since 1913 and is the go-to for prime rib and Friday night fish fry. Our menu offers a wide selection of entrees including nightly specials. Come in early and quench your thirst with our bar’s happy hour and the great selection of craft beers, wine, and spirits. We are not a "club" that requires membership, anyone is welcome to enjoy the "Supper Club" experience in our cozy atmosphere.

Service was efficient and friendly. Steak bites for an appetizer are a must. Ordered the Tuesday night special of grilled salmon on a bed a fresh asparagus. Slight outer crust on salmon and nice flavor internally. Side salad and baked potato were nice accompaniments.

Obwohl ich schon oft in den USA war, kannte ich - aus Deutschland kommend - das Konzept eines Supper Clubs bisher noch nicht. Ich bin absolut begeistert! Ob an der Bar auf einen Tisch wartend oder im Speiseraum - es herrscht eine sehr gemütliche Atmosphäre und das Essen ist phantastisch. Die Bedienungen und Barkeeper sind sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Wer einmal die Möglichkeit hat sollte unbedingt hier essen gehen!

Our 1st visit to the Nightengale & we will definitely be back. Everything was outstanding, staff, service, drinks & food. This is what a supper club should be. The bartenders were friendly & efficient, even when busy (shout out to Jalen & the young lady that we didn’t catch her name). She did an amazing job even when short staffed. Our waitress Sarah did a great job & Jana (sp?) the hostess was lights out! She is incredible! The food was fabulous! I had the prime rib (as good as any I have ever had) & my wife had a tenderloin that she raved about.
Thank you all for a great night out! Everyone & everything about this place is top shelf! You won’t go wrong visiting here!

We came in to eat for my wife’s 60th Birthday. We had a group of 6 of us. Everyone was great! Our waitress was awesome. I wish I could remember her name. She took very good care of us! Most of us had the tenderloin which was outstanding. We definitely recommend the food, drinks and atmosphere! Keep up the great work!!

We stopped on a Thursday hoping for an early dinner. No luck, it was reservations only for the prime rib special. Lots of locals gave us tips for mushrooms and bacon wrapped scallops for the appetizers available in the bar. Both were amazing! Bar was also really busy, bartenders very responsive and quick. We are definitely making reservations for the next trip!

This place was STUPID good, says my wife. The food was incredible. For about $140 we got 4 cocktails, steak, pasta, a starter, steak bites for my daughter, soups and salads. We didn’t have one bad thing. A meal like this in the city would be $300-$400+. Highly recommended. Also, other than the amazing steaks, the fettuccini Alfredo (while also being the only pasta on the menu) was again, stupid good. Go eat at this place NOW.

Was disappointed we could not share the prime rib. Was told they could not split specials so we had to order a rib eye and split that. My husband and I are on vacation and have no where to keep leftovers and we are seniors who don’t eat a lot. The rib eye was ok but not exceptional.

I am 30 weeks pregnant and have been cravings for barbecue ribs 🥰 I am so glad that my husband took me here for my birthday dinner 🥹 He ordered steaks he shared it to me and it was fantastic, I ordered barbecue baby back ribs and it was amazing! I had a crab asparagus soup for my side it was superb! all the food we ordered from here fullfilled my pregnancy cravings. 4 thumbs up from me and hubby 👍👍👍👍 definitely recommend this place to our friends. We decided on Nightingale based on ratings and they were dead on. Supper Clubs are not common in Indiana so we were anxious to give one a try. We made reservations and were promptly seated on arrival. My wife opted for the nightly special which was the grilled salmon with hollandaise sauce and I had the 8 oz tenderloin steak. Both of these entrees were terrific, prepared just right. Before the entrees my wife had the crab-asparagus soup and said it was wonderful. My salad was very good, fresh with a delicious French dressing. Our server, Josie? was excellent. We would definitely return here when in the area.
Back again in May 2025 and the experience was the same. Everything ordered was wonderful and terrific service.

Nightingale is a great spot to stop for some good Wisconsin supper club atmosphere. The restaurant is well decorated and often has live music. We went for 2 nights. We went on Friday to get the fish fry, and on Saturday to get the 16oz prime rib special. The fish fry was good but nothing special, but the prime rib was amazing! The prime rib seems to be what they've become known for. Definitely recommend stopping here for some live music and good food.

I have been going to The Nightingale since I was a kid. It was the place to go in Sturgeon Bay for special occasions. However, now, it's more about "when can we go back?" (we live in Madison).
The bar has the perfect vibe - order an old fashioned and let the stress of the day/week roll off...while you are enjoying that perfectly made cocktail, you know you are about to have a meal so good that you will savor every bite and leave feeling like you got the best deal in town. The service is impeccable, most of the servers have been there for many years and their professionalism and hospitality are inherent...they love what they do!
The dining room is beautiful and has been updated in recent years with unique light fixtures that nod to the bay & lake, and stunning wall art displays of scenic Door County locations.
By far, our favorite menu item is the prime rib - hands down the best we have had at any supper club - and we've been to our fair share. We also love cream of crab & asparagus soup. Our son (15) gives a "chef's kiss" to the prime rib burger.
Next time you have plans to be in Sturgeon Bay, make sure to get a reservation booked - you won't be disappointed!

I have made three attempts for dinner here. Last night for my birthday I received the worst steak of my life. It was inedible. My boyfriend ordered the special, beef Wellington. His was obviously reheated and overcooked. Previously we tried Friday night fish fry, baked cod. It was dry and overcooked. We were seated in this odd overflow section between the bar and restaurant which was disappointing. And my first attempt was the fettuccine Alfredo. No flavor, so bland. Why even have a dish like this on the menu. My boyfriend’s surf and turf however was excellent. Drinks are always great as is the service. But I’m sorry three strikes and you’re out.

I've always heard positive feedback about this restaurant, but my first visit was far from great.

Our group is one of the best for patience on a bad night. Most of the steaks weren't properly prepared. The fettuccine Alfredo served almost cold, one of which was sent back. The Alfredo sauce is way too rich in my opinion and portion is HUGE served with no garlic toast or vegetable. This meal could be made to look so much more appealing to the customer.

The server was super friendly and its definitely a nice place. I'll try to give this restaurant a second chance in the near future and hopefully raise the review to five stars.

Nice looking place. I got a surf and turf with steak and lobster. They did a good job with cooking it rare, as seen in the photo. However the taste of the steak and lobster wasn't great. We would not visit again because the food wasn't very impressive. It was disappointing too as this is in the Door County area and most eateries in Door County are wonderful.

Celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary in Sturgeon Bay - this restaurant was totally amazing! From the moment we walked in the door it was an atmosphere of regular customers and newbies, but everyone was treated like family. The prime rib was delicious and the grilled salmon was amazing. The bartender did a great job with the drinks - bar w!as full and she was able to keep everyone's glass full. Our waitress was so polite and even brought us a treat for our anniversary. Everyone was very fiendly. We would come back again anytime. Keep up the great job

The last time we visited Door County we were unable to get a reservation, so I was so happy to see that we were able to get a table this time. There is a really nice bar and i was very surprised to see how busy it was at 5pm on a Monday evening. We ordered the whitefish cakes appetizer and they were amazing. My husband and I both ordered prime rib, which was also amazing. The crab and asparagus soup, which is available everyday was also excellent. I really enjoyed the quiet and relaxing atmosphere and the server was great. She timed everything perfectly and quickly responded to all of our requests. I see why this place can get busy and we will definitely come back next time we are visiting the area.

We were a group of 7 celebrating a 70 birthday. We had made reservations but when we arrived they didn't have us one the list. We were able to show them we had call and they made sure we were seated within minutes. Food was great. We had prime rib, fish, shrimp, steaks. I was here on a motor coach with 46 women October 1st for dinner. The staff were great to work with, I talked to Jana several times choosing the menu, setting our arrival times etc. She was always very helpful and pleasant. The service for our meal, which was in a private dining room, was great. We had decided before hand, on 3 options for the meal and they were all reported to be very very good. We had made colored tags for everyone that were put on the tables and everyone got what they had ordered in a very timely matter. The ladies also enjoyed time before we ate in the bar, where the service was also very good. A great place to eat with a large group or just your family.

Be sure to have a reservation or you will wait hours. That being said, we did have a reservation and still waited for our table. Then waited at least 10 minutes while waitstaff scurried by not stopping. Finally a waitress who couldn’t bother to even introduce herself arrived. Very loud. Food was fine, basic supper club. We saw all of the 5 star reviews on the Prime Rib so two of our group tried that. One also had Perch and the other person had tenderloin & shrimp. The prime was poorly seasoned and was just a bad cut of beef - very fatty with no taste. Very dissatisfied and disappointed.

This was a weird and crazy experience... Our first supper club experience in Wisconsin was bizarre... Dress attire was everything from shorts, t-shirts, and deck shoes to 80's inspired mini dresses, complete with big hair to jacket and tie and summer dresses. Many locals and tourists, but seemed to lean towards the locals. The bar was... Interesting. A couple playing polka sing along songs when we entered led to overhearing plans to disrupt the upcoming DNC convention with protests and infiltrating the convention. Women turning the lights out on each other and others in the restroom eliciting screams and cursing for those left in the dark... The drinks were good though... The dining room was ok, kind of looked like a set from an old 80's straight to cable, b movie, full of extras from different movies filmed on the same lot. The food was well prepared and very good, though the menu was pretty limited. In the end, the meal was nice, the experience was just bizarre... Not in a bad way, just not at all what we were expecting...

To start we got the stuffed mushrooms which were very good. We got a side salad, bread and asparagus crab soup which was all really yummy. The bread was fresh and so was the soup. For our main meal we got the surf and turf and the ribeye with a baked potato. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The sirloin that came with the surf in turf was not cooked properly and the seasoning was off. The lobster was amazing and cooked perfectly.

It is your classic supper club experience. Amazing staff, drinks and dessert (the chocolate cake) were both delicious. The entrees were a bit lackluster. I had the smothered chicken which was a bit dry and bland. My partner had the breaded walleye and was happy with his meal. House salad was delicious, if you order blue cheese you get an extra cup of blue cheese crumbles, which honestly made the whole experience worth it.

Fantastic experience! The atmosphere was perfect. Sun sets through mosaic stained glass, combined with neon lights sets a great mood. Bar, bartenders, drinks all spot on. Off to the dining room for fresh baked bread and a mixed greens salad. Next comes a perfect medium rare tenderloin smothered with mushrooms and onions. After a perfect meal, my wife suggests a grasshopper. Hell yeah! We will be back.

started out pretty cool with the bar atmosphere. we ended up waiting TWO hours for 3 medium rare steaks & a broiled whitefish dish. after waiting so long, our steaks came out medium well, rosemary sticking out of them?, on a sizzling plate?, and suuuuper salty & tasted frozen. espresso martini was one of the worsts I’ve had. don’t waste your money!! $260 spent to have a stomachache & have had a bad time. to top it off, our sever was extremely inattentive.

If I am honest, the food quality can be very inconsistent. For example, on my last visit, my partner and myself both ordered the grilled salmon. My salmon appeared to be a standard size and was cooked through, but the bottom was COVERED with burn lines, leaving a very bitter task. My partner's salmon filet was HUGE, but it wasn't cooked completely through. Unfortunately, this is not the first time we've experience identical issues. This is a problem that should be looked into and corrected.

That said, the service and atmosphere are great! In fact, I've never had any issues with the service itself.

One of the best steaks I have had. This place moved up on my supper club "list" for a great steak to second best in WI. My wife had fish which she said was also very good. The bread and salads were very good too. We can't wait to get back to SB and this restaurant.

A tough place to get into for good reason. I enjoyed the prime rib special - although I would have liked it cooked a little more, it was delicious and oh so tender! Friends had the tenderloin and shrimp special…excellent! Good flavor. “One of the best meals I’ve ever had.” We enjoyed the best supper club experiences we’ve had.

Drinks were good. Salad was great as well as the dressing. My wife and I both had the 16oz prim rib. It was ok, I thought the taste was ok but the chef let both cuts leave the kitchen with a large piece of fat on the end. I personally would have trim that before leaving the kitchen. They ran out of mash potatoes which my wife ordered and she got a baked one instead. I ordered the creamy asparagus. Instead of telling me the waitress brought out some hard sliced carrots, which I didn’t eat. I think the place seemed nice, if I make up this way in the future I might try it again.

We were happy to finally get to stop here for dinner. I did make reservations to ensure we could get in. Large bar area. Spacious dining area. I had the fish fry, others had steak. All the meals were tasty. Service was great. Everyone at the restaurant was very nice. Cocktails were very good. We look forward to coming again.

My prime ribs dinner was perfect. My adult children ordered salmon, it was burnt and over cooked. The top on the fish was so burnt they could not eat it. They chose not to complain. Even the server looked at the fish questioningly but said nothing. Very disappointed.

Who doesn't love a WI Supper Club?

Atmosphere- This one did not disappoint. A large space with an entire bar room holding ample seating at and around the bar. The bar has an extensive and varied menu of options from WI staples to an espresso martini.
Food- Delicious ribeyes cooked medium rare with a nice charred outside. The BEST ranch on a crisp salad. The crab asparagus soup was different, but a good different!

The only negative- canned soda. No tap beers- only bottle or can.

I been going here for 30+ years. They used to have the best prime rib in the area if not anywhere I’ve ever been in the US. It appears something has changed recently. I was there this past week and a couple months back on Veterans Day. Both times, the meat was chewy and tough, and not cooked as ordered. This wasn’t just for me, all 6 people at our table agreed something has changed. We mentioned our recent experience to some other local friends in the area as well, they agreed and said they had stopped going for Prime Rib.
I hear one of the cooks has been out for surgery, maybe that’s the issue. Maybe they are getting a cheaper lower quality meat. It’s hard to say, but I know several people now that will not return, sadly. Now they are barely average and probably one of the more expensive places in the area.

My son and I had a fabulous dinner here last night. The potato skin appetizer was like no other I have ever had, sliced skins covered with cheese and bacon, delicious. The chicken vegetable soup, fresh bread and side salad were perfect, full of flavor and fresh. The fried shrimp were large and gently fried with a lite coating and unlike those heavily breaded ones others serve. Finished off with a delicious slice of warm cherry pie. This is an old school supper club, decorated in classic nautical style, complete with rope chandeliers. It’s popular and gets busy on weekends, so when we wanted to do a girls night but couldn’t get reservations until late, we decided to order prime rib for carryout, open a bottle of wine and have a girls night in. Such a good decision, we had so much fun! They have such a big selection of sides and toppings for your steak, the employee who took our order was a real pro, everything was packaged nicely and made a great dining experience. Orders were correct, we just felt steaks were just cooked a little less than we expected, medium well was still quite pink, but since we were home we cooked them a little more ourselves.

Terrible experience, slow service even when we had a reservation.
Server couldn't have cared any less if another drink or anything else that would be requested, didn't return to the table to check.
Pan fried fish was less than satisfactory, soaked in oil. I've had at least two dozen better Friday night fish dinners in the state. Take a lesson on how to be a little better. Don't hang on your long reputation. I'm sure you won't mind me not returning.

Was there on Thursday Nov 2 for dinner. Thursday was prime rib night so they were very busy. Mixed review on our party of 8. I had walleye which was certainly a commercially frozen and breaded item along with red potatoes which were a Thursday only dish. The fish was certainly something out of a box and the potatoes were cold. Many ordered the prime rib special in our party were happy with it. One of our dinners ordered a prime rib sandwich medium that came out very rare, it took a while to get the waitress to come back, it was obvious that the kitchen just threw the entire plate into a microwave to 'redo it' as it came back with over cooked meat and soggy toast. They ultimately made a new entree. Another party of 8, seated after us with a different waitress, ordered after us but was served first by quite a bit. We've been here before but this night was pretty blah over all

Came in admittedly later on a busy night, but were given a buzzer and asked to wait at the bar. Five minutes later the hostess came up to us and announced that they would be unable to serve a party of our size (5) this late in the day. A bit disappointed, we gathered our items and headed towards the door as another party (2) entered and were seated. Perhaps a coincidence that our party was mainly young Hispanic adults...or not. Gladly took and continue to take our money to other nearby establishments- with great food and great customer service. Sorry Nightingale, you are not that special.

Walking in, we noticed it smelled like old fry oil. It's very dark, and the decor screams out of date. Our old fashioneds at the bar were served by bartenders who were more focused on their conversation than the customers. Our appetizers and soup came out well spaced, and then we sat for about 35 mins waiting for our entrées. We ordered two surf and turfs at $67 a piece. The filet was cooked perfectly, but the lobster was way overcooked.

TLDR; Smells funny, bartenders don't care, overcooked lobster, overpriced.

I was very impressed by the Nightingale Supper Club. We did not have a reservation so we enjoyed the potato skin appetizer and drinks before dinner. The bar area is very impressive with quite a few chairs and tables and large to accommodate lots of people. I liked the atmosphere - very relaxing and cozy.
Our dinner was delicious 😋. We had a warm loaf of bread and he had a salad and I got a bowl of yummy beef vegetable soup.We both had steaks ( a ribeye and a tenderloin filet)with sour cream chive wedges.
We enjoyed everything very much and would be happy to return.
