We’ll start with the pros first. The person at the counter was friendly. The restaurant was clean. That’s why the rating is 2 stars instead of 1. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I’m truly disappointed. Paid almost $30 for oxtails that I took two bites out of and literally threw it in the trash because it was soooo salty! Like, I probably would’ve had a stroke if I ate it but it was so salty that it was inedible. I really want to know why the oxtails were smothered in gravy like a porkchop? If I wanted a smothered pork chop, I would’ve ordered one. I would include a photo but as I’ve mentioned several times, I threw the entire serving of oxtails in the trash. I threw the dressing away. It was not good and seemed undercooked, very wet like. I was so annoyed that I threw the cornbread muffin away too so who knows what that tasted like lol. The greens however, were surprisingly good. In conclusion, I will not be back.

This was my second visit and I am less than satisfied! To start, the oxtails were undercooked. I broke the plastic fork trying to remove the meat. Refer to the video. Paying $22 for oxtail, I expect it to be tender and to be seasoned. The cornbread and the greens were delicious. That increased the star rating to 2.

The food was delicious—i had smothered chicken, smothered pork chops, cabbage, peach cobbler, macaroni and the Kool-Aid mix drink. The macaroni wasn’t bad, just not my preference. Price for everything was reasonable. The atmosphere is cozy with a small dining area, but the customer service made the whole experience stand out. I was warmly welcomed, had great conversations, and later found out the friendly “customer” I chatted with was actually the owner. Very humble and kind—felt just like visiting family. I’ll definitely be back

My family & I try our best to support the businesses in our community especially black owned businesses. The food was horrible…the yams were undercooked, they were hard. They had too much nutmeg. The chicken wings were small which is fine but 5 would be ideal for this dinner. They could’ve been a bit more crunchy. The sides were cold. The Mac & cheese was ok, not good just decent. Im a traveling foodie that had high hopes for this small soul food joint in a nice neighborhood in a Milwaukee suburb. It appears to be black owned. Seating is very limited and you choose your own. The gentleman behind the counter might have been the owner and was very friendly with everyone. The digital menu was easy to read with many of the typical "southern" choices. I went with the sampler of catfish, porkchop and a wing. There were only 2 customers ahead of me in the store. Customers were a combination of DoorDash and walkins for take-out. My sampler took OVER AN HOUR! I was about to ask for a refund and walk out. Others were frustrated as well. I saw one customer cancel his order and leave.

The food was sub-par. PorkChop was very salty, catfish was just "ok", chicken wing was tasty but very small. Black eyes peas were very salty, mac and cheese was similar to store bought....nothing special. The corn bread was smashed and crumbled into pieces. I've never seen cornbread at a restaurant do that. I grabbed a peach cobbler dessert to take on the road with me. It appeared to be prepared by an outside vendor as it was pre-packaged. It was actually the best part of the meal for me.

There was a constant flow of foot traffic and the owner offered a "bonus" to the cooks if they hurried and completed orders. They need a better system! If you're seeking a quality experience with quality service and food, this wouldn't be the place based on my single experience. Maybe they have better days, but I'll never know.

Horrible customer service. Ordered 2 meals at 12:13pm and we were told it would be a 20 minute wait. Ok kool! But at 1:28pm we still had not gotten our food. No apologizes for the wait, no discount offered, no explanation, no nothing! Very poor customer service. Had to request a refund because we were not willing to wait any longer. Still no apologies offered. We straight to the Bungalow on Keefe st. And got our 2 meals within 15 minutes and the customer service was great. The professionalism of the workers at Nino’s is NON EXISTENT!! If you want great food backed by professionalism and great customer service go to Bungalow or Terri Lyn’s!! This place is circus!!

I hate to even write this review since i had such high hopes from previous recommendations. When we first got there i was impressed by the location and the aesthetic. The guy working the front desk was very relatable and was doing the best he could. I had to wait over an hour for two snack dinners . One with a pork chop and dressing , the other with catfish and yams .

The pork chop was a solid 8 , kinda salty .
The dressing was not seasoned at all and had a weird tangyness to it . The yams were great ! The kicker is ! After an hour i still never got the catfish , i was given a fried pork chop which was even saltier . Once i said i wanted refund , the manager took 10 mins just to walk to the front by which then the front desk guy had resolved to the best of his abilities

Very good soul food. It's always tasty. There isn't a menu item we haven't liked. Nice sidewalk patio during the warmer months. The restaurant also partners with Boys & Girls Clubs to place teens into work experience. In addition to their intimate restaurant in Shorewood, they also have a restaurant kiosk and food truck at Summerfest. The smothered chicken snack is glorious. Lovely flavored gravy over crispy chicken wings. The catfish and smothered pork chops are also amazingly flavorful. The collard greens are perfectly seasoned. The meat liaf is out of this world. You can't go wrong with their food!

There hazardous concerns, from the front desk you can see within the kitchen is in disarray. The front of the house is also working the back, when the waiter came to give me food he had macaroni and cheese stuck under his nails. He did not know I saw him scoop it out with his bare hands then pack the meal. I watched nearly everything be microwaved, which brought concerns of freshness. Now the yams & macaroni and cheese & braised oxtails were tasty and not as salty as the smothered pork chops but the portion size of the rice and macaroni & cheese and yams was well not worth it save your money and hear your oven up fire up your grill will not be returning and the wait time was very extensive! I'm really disappointed with Ninos. This is my third time here and I won't be back. We walked in and the person at the counter didn't greet us and he walked in back as soon as we walked in. OK...? There is a self order kiosk so I started my order. There wasn't a way to choose the chicken baked, smothered, or fried on the kiosk. I rang bell and nobody came. I ordered ribs instead of the fried chicken. Two ladies walked in and they rang the bell. Nobody came. They yelled for someone and nobody came. A 4th person walked in to pick up order. He rang the bell. Nobody came. At that point, I called the restaurant and told the person that answered that there are 3 groups in the lobby and we need help. No apologies when he came up front. We're sitting in the lobby waiting for our food. The TV is blaring so loud that I can't hear the guy say that the green beans are a 45 minute wait and I have pick a new side. I go to the counter to hear him and I choose a new one. He comes out a few minutes later to say the corn is 45 minutes and I have to pick a 2nd new side. He apologized. Food came out 35 minutes after I ordered. I saw 3 people working so where were they when we were ringing the bell and people were literally yelling in the back for service? I find a 4% admin service fee on the receipt. Great. I get home and the $19 baked chicken was 3 wings and 1 thigh. No breast? The lasagna was hard and the ribs were like beef jerky. This stuff was old. I spent $66 for a terrible experience and we threw out half of the meal. Never again Ninos.

I’m so iffy on soul food and southern food. Not everybody can make a good Mac, or dressing, or yams, or greens. This place is absolutely amazing!!! EVERYTHING is so good!!! Just went back after I moved a year ago. And when I say omg… My food was so fresh and so delicious. I got the sampler and my fried and smothered pork chop was tender and the fish was fresh and seasoned well. I Love to eat sides so I got 5 of them. I had gotten green beans, greens, Mac and cheese, dressing and spaghetti. All of it was 🔥The only thing I have to say that’s not even negative is that the spaghetti was a little spicy but it was still good and juicy not dry. I would say 9/10.

Nino’s was the so good during the pandemic. 😍Then, right around the time the pandemic eased up, I wanted Nino’s to cater my 70’s themed party but they never returned my party planner’s calls, after creating a menu and quote. Well, I went back in there, giving them another chance and happened to see the manager and told him about the party disappointment! He offered to pay for my food order on the house! The food was so good that day! Now, I travel back and forth and when I come back home, I have my fav staples, one being Nino’s! Well, I brought several dinners and dishes! Got there my order was messed up, then I waited 20 extra minutes to get everything I ordered! Welllllll…. my fam and were so disappointed! And hungry! I ate my entree, hubby didn’t! I ordered a Rib dinner with yams and dressing as sides. The sides were delicious. BUT the ribs were old and had silverback on the bones. That's a turn off...it was thick, chewy and ruined the ribs for me. If they have surplus they should donate to homeless shelters like other restaurants do. I see why they didn't donate these. This is the third time I have tried there dinners Fried Chicken and Pork Chops (hard as a rock)

The chicken wings were perfect and most of all was the chitterlings they didn’t put a lot of seasoning so you could add to your liking and I did if nothing else I’m going to get me some more chitterlings tomorrow and ask about catering for thanksgiving. This was third attempt to consider, maybe the first time it was a different cook. The first time my mom was very dissatisfied and wanted to take the food back but they were close.The yams weren't good and half of them shouldn't have made it to the container to be serve. I'm sad I have to leave this review because we were really looking forward to trying the lasagna here. I ordered 2 lasagnas. First, I was told it would be a 20-25 minute wait, it turned out to be over 1 hour. Second, the lasagna consisted of meat, a little pasta, a small amount of tomato sauce and a lot of grease. Third, there was absolutely NO cheese (we are in Wisconsin, and it's lasagna!), or seasonings, at all. Fourth, when I called to ask why there was no cheese in lasagna the person who answered the phone was very rude. She said they don't put cheese in their lasagna unless you ask for it....and it costs extra. She said I could bring it back and they would make another one. So there was no way I was going to take it back and wait for another hour or more. I was out $31.00 because i ordered 2 lasagnas! If I could give zero stars I would!!! I also ordered cornbread which was hard as a rock☹️

Great soul food! Yes sometimes there can be a bit of a wait, but that is the price you pay for home cooked food. Too many people are too used to their macburgers and stale fries being given to them 15 seconds after they order, that they think that is how all food should be processed into their gaping mouth-holes. Ordered the Chittling Dinner it was so disappointing the portion was maybe three spoonfuls for $34 I was so angry I called to only be told how much they pay to purchase the chittling and one excuse behind the next I ordered four sides according to what was listed online instead of making customer happy due to issues of the online ad they chose your two sides which I was told the first two because that's normally what a person wan. I will never ever ever order from this place again mainly because of the poor customer service and their unwillingness to please the one that keep them in business. Plus the food had no taste very bland and cold!!!

PLEASE STOP EATING HERE. This place is disgusting. They have began serving fake, cold, disgusting food that will make you sick. I used to frequent this place and the last 3 times I've given them a chance, I've regretted it. I am not sure why the owner has allowed their business to go down like this but for your own sake do not eat here. The food tastes like plastic and all of the chicken is microwaveable Tyson chicken. I went to Nino's on March 3 2024 and ordered 2 orders of chitterlings. I spent about 60 dollars. When I got home they didn't have any seasoning and they were under cooked and tasted horrible. When I called back they said no one else complained, I told him to just taste them and see for himself. He said he would return my money with return of food. I didn't feel like driving 40 minutes there and back. So in the garbage they went. I have gotten chitterlings from them for years, and never had a problem until this happened.

I placed an order on Grubhub. I had 4pc fried chicken with greens, yams, dressing and potato salad.
Chicken - Seasoned but taste burnt like grease needed to be changed.
Greens - THE BEST PART ABOUT THE WHOLE MEAL
Potato salad - was OK, yellow and sweet if that's your thing
Yams - HORRIBLE - nothing sweet about them and left a sour taste.
Dressing - OK, like supped up Stove top.
All in all it was "quick" soul food. I personally wouldn't order again unless I really want a doubule order of greens and don't feel like cooking myself.

The food tasted great. The trouble was they decided to substitute my mac & cheese with sweet potatoes. They did this for both orders and when I called to correct my delivery order they were closed. I know it was intentional and feel let down because we are big fans of this restaurant.I will definitely consider this before ordering from them again.

The food was fresh and hot. I ordered the fried chicken, the Sampler, mac&cheese, green beans (they were in vinegar - yum!), sweet potato pie, and yams. It was all seasoned well and flavors were delicious! The service was great. They were friendly and my order was correct. Highly recommend.

I ordered from grubhub! I did not receive my soda, and I paid 4.39 for a Carmel cake. It was the smallest piece of cake slice ever. Disappointed. I paid about 25 dollars for the meal, and the fees were only 4 dollars and some change! That's ridiculous! Small portions, pay more money smh

Food was horrible! After calling the restaurant 2 separate times requesting to speak to a manager. I was advised to call back after 1pm to reach a manager. Upon doing so, the cashier who initially gave me the order I picked up in person was rude and condescending. I tried explaining that my food was dry, flavorless and the chitterlings were old, dry and unclean. She responded that no one else felt that way. I told her that my goal isn’t to write a bad review, but instead to return the food to get a refund. She said she doesn’t have the power to issue a refund. She expressed that she didn’t care if I wrote a bad review… so here you go. Avoid this old microwaved in plastic/styrofoam food like the plague!!!

I ordered ahead the catfish and french fry snack for lunch and it was piping hot and ready as soon as I got there. The cashier was courteous and kind. I over heard the kitchen along the lines of maintaining freshness of food which I love because it shows they care and don't want their customers sick. I also ordered the banana pudding cheesecake and nothing disappointed. My little heart is singing and pleased. I will definitely be coming back.

My husband and I tried Nino's for the first time last night and WOW! Our dinners were FANTASTIC! We both had fried chicken. Sides were collards, spaghetti, mac and cheese and stuffing with gravy. Everything was very tasty. And the portion sizes were a great plenty. Also included was a side of cranberry sauce and a corn bread muffin. We gobbled everything down so quickly, there was no getting a picture!
We are looking forward to trying other menu items in the very near future!

Oh my God... when I say everything we had was delicious, I mean exactly that!! The smothered pork chop, smothered chicken, catfish, fried pork chops, greens, mac&cheese, sweet potatoes were all delicious. Ordered smothered wings rice and dressing. The gravy was too salty. Lighten up on the salt and it will be perfect. The porkchops were too tuff and your greens needed some onion and chicken broth.
