Wife and I ordered Steak Yakisoba, Cucumber Maki, and Takoyaki for dine in (not takeout). Food was delivered to our table in takeout containers (unlike the univerity ave location). Noodles were overcooked while the steak was undercooked. Takoradi still had loose batter inside with only 1 or two dimensions size pieces of octopus per. Ginger and Wasabi for sushi was in takeout packets and of poor quality.

The only thing this location has going for it really is the nice lady working the register.

I stopped in to Nori Sushi and Grill while shopping nearby recently. The utilitarian space was clean, but largely empty, save for a friendly young woman behind the counter who directed me to some menus on the counter.

There were a couple of glass-front refrigerated displays which contained a couple of small plates with some items on them, but it was unclear what they were or if they were for sale. A digital display stood near the entry where one could order and pay, but the young woman was eager to take my order.

I ordered three fairly common sushi rolls: California, Shrimp Tempura, and Rainbow.

I've eaten enough sushi in enough restaurants to know when quality ingredients are used, and Nori seems to source with quality in mind.

All three rolls were delicious and freshly prepared (in a kitchen behind a curtain). The shrimp was still warm from preparation, the tempura crisp, but not oily in any way. The fish in the rainbow rolls was buttery and delightful, not leaving any fishy after taste. Solid "A Tier" sushi at a decent price.

As a side note, both pickled ginger and "wasabi" paste is prepackaged like ketchup or mustard packets in a container on the table, which is something I've not seen often. Neither bad nor good, just different.

Verdict: Solid sushi, would definitely eat here again (and again).

I’m not sure how other reviewers are giving them high reviews. Maybe they are bots. But this place is not good. Food is stale and gross. People rave that you can pick individually ones so you don’t have to get a whole roll, but that leads to old sushi just sitting there all day. You can taste not only the low quality but the staleness of it sitting there. If you actually are a person that enjoys sushi, this place is not it. Like most sushi here in WI, it’s not authentic at all with no background in making authentic sushi.

ordered a shrimp tempura roll and half of the roll was stuffed with shredded crab meat - there’s NO crab meat on the item description, only shrimp, cucumber, avocado and spicy mayo. Ordered yakisoba tonight, shrimp and steak. The delivery was through eatstreet and it was fast and friendly. Unfortunately, the shrimp was overcooked and dry, the steak was sparse and not enough. Both dishes were bland, absolutely flavorless. No amount of soy sauce or wasabi could elevate the flavor. I would have liked to send an email to management, but no email option was available, hence the written review. Regretfully, I will eat elsewhere.

Stopped by today for the first time - loved the atmosphere and the chalkboard! Staff leaves chalk in a little cubby so you can draw. The sushi is on display as you walk in, and you order there and it gets brought to your table. Service overall was lovely!

Unfortunately in my opinion the quality of the sushi was lacking. I ordered a specialty roll, assuming it would be made to order. However, the sushi gets served from the display case - so it wasn’t fresh. The rice tasted fine but was basically mush, and the tempura had absorbed so much moisture it was mushy as well. Also, the food is served on plastic takeout containers that get thrown out immediately. Even the cups and soy sauce dishes are plastic and single use. The ginger comes in tiny plastic packages - it just felt very wasteful.

This is the best Sushi I've had in Madison. I love that they have a prepared version of their special rolls on display. We had three rolls: Dinosaur, Nori, and Dragon. All three were so surprisingly flavorful the two of us nearly ate them all on top of the avocado salad and spring rolls. It's basically a carry out restaurant, but there are a few tables. The hostess did everything to make us comfortable and well served.

Unfortunately I didn’t get pictures but that’s because the food was so amazing. We decided dine in and there was wonderful service. A woman was helping us and she was super nice. She made sure we had everything we needed, told us what everything was, and got us out of there quick! I have been looking for the best crab rangoon since I’ve moved to Madison and out of 10+ places, this was the best. It's a small restaurant where you can dine in or have it to-go. You can order per piece or a roll for 8 pieces. The price is right for Sushi. The staff was friendly. We found this gem in Madison. Cute, clean space to eat but also perfect for dining out. The food was delicious and it was perfect for the vegetarians in our group, too. Everything was fast despite the size of our party. The server was incredibly attentive and kind. She brought me free sushi because my meal didn’t come with salad and gave us all water. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone!

This is by far the best sushi place I've gone to! The staff is friendly and most importantly the Sushi is amazing! This place was unique. It is quick & convenient sushi in comparison to a more traditional sushi place. They have a selection of pre-made rolls where you can choose to order individual pieces from, or you can order full rolls. It was really neat to be able to mix and match from several rolls and be able to try many things. I can't say it was the best sushi I've ever had, but it was great for the price point, plus creative and convenient.
They also have a selection of appetizers and other things on the menu. The egg rolls and dumplings were great.
The woman behind the counter was very pleasant and helpful.

The sushi was excellent and fairly priced. We also got Japanese fried rice with steak and it was superb. We dined in and were allowed a free sample of sushi while we waited during dinner rush hour. We were also greeted immediately when we walked in. We will definitely be back soon!

Lunch was good. Had the Yakisoba with Chicken. They also gave me a sample crab roll and it was delicious. Definitely going back.
