Great hidden gem for fast service and great sushi! We went with our family of 4 with 2 kids and we could sit right away, ordered from the counter as soon as we were ready and we got our food fast! Highly recommend for a qudoba style sushi experience. (Teriyaki chicken was also great!)

I’ve had food from this restaurant before and it’s amazing every time! We didn’t know how to use chopsticks, although we tried. One of the people working there was very sweet and showed us how, even gave us modified chop sticks to help. We were given edamame on the house and our sushi was really good! Definitely get the teriyaki chicken!

This place has great sushi and crab rangoon! I walked in and was greeted very nicely. The place is not very busy, getting a lot more delivery orders than in person orders. I was very quickly given my food.
It might not be the best sushi I’ve ever had, but it’s still better than several other places I’ve gone.
I heard people say the outside is a bit sketchy, and I do agree (though it’s more of the placement than anything, not much can be done to improve that), but the inside of the building is honestly really cozy and nice.

Would definitely recommend going here, and I’ll be going a lot more.

Food was not very good. It arrived incredibly dried out and bland. We don’t think any sauce was added to our chicken, shrimp or steak. I tried to call the restaurant to notify them and was told we could receive a $10 discount when we decided to dine next but we were given no way to claim the discount. We were told to tell them what happened and they will know to apply it which does not sound like it would work at all. After trying to inquire more about how we can claim the discount we were told they’re busy and abruptly hung up on. I don’t think we will order from here again.

It’s small and simple, the staff are welcoming and friendly. But the staff at the front desk aren’t much aware of the food items, as he was confused when I asked about Combo Tempura (it’s like a sampler). He had to ask around to understand what it included. The place also lacked some soft Japanese music in the background, as I was able to hear the table next to me eating and was bothering me.

Ordered a dragon roll and chicken hibachi for delivery. The prices are high but the portions are huge. The chicken hibachi provided 2 adult meals and 3 toddler meals and we are not small eaters. Definitely the best Japanese food we’ve had in Madison. Only negative was that the miso soup was bland. We will definitely definitely be back!

What Nori lacks in atmosphere it MORE than makes up for with the impeccable QUALITY of their sushi! There is NO CONTEST with any other sushi place in Madison with the quality & portion size of their sushi, especially their salmon, yellowtail & ahi! Their rolls are “next level” & I dare anyone to take the “Pepsi challenge” with any other sushi joint in Madison! Nori’s Dragon roll is the stuff of LEGEND! The Spicy Tuna roll is fantastic! And the Phoenix roll is like a fresh ocean breeze in roll form! The Alaskan roll is also quite good, for those who lean more toward tempura. Sorry Red, you have a beautiful atmosphere, but Nori has you beat by a MILE with the quality of sushi that they serve! Easily the BEST in town! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Right in the middle with my rating. Sushi is a 2/5, and grill is 4/5. I brought my kids here to try the sushi, and both my kids and I were kind of dissatisfied. Many of the rolls had different names, but the ingredients were very similar. Raw selection was limited. Luckily, I noticed this and ordered hibachi chicken with fried rice, which was good! There's a Noodles & Company vibe where you order first. I like how everything was served in to-go containers because it made packing up easy. The service was very friendly.

It's not a great spot for the food, but everything inside is fantastic, a most places it'll be around 120$ for 2 people but you'll spend like 40-60$ish. It is all on takeout containers but that's honestly alright I prefer it over a heavy glass plate that makes a ton of noise, quite nice inside. Very clean

This place will not disappoint! I’ve read other reviews that knock it for having to go to the counter and order, but preferred if that way! We ordered our food and sat down, food came out very fast. Everything was delicious! Had two apps, ordered some sushi rolls as well as hibachi. The sushi rolls were huge and flavorful! Hibachi was perfectly cooked and seasoned.

The exterior of the restaurant might like a take sketchy, but the inside is very clean, modern, and had a nice feeling to it.

Again, this business has a lot of takeout and delivery, so the dine-in experience looks a bit different. Yes, food does come out in plastic container, but that just makes it easier to pack up your leftovers! Go into Nori with an open mind with having to order at the counter and food being served in plastic containers, I can assure you the food will blow you away!

Greeted by friendly staff when we walked in. Clean dining area with steam line design. Sushi is delicious!! 😋We had the “yummy” roll, good size and plenty of pieces. The steak hibachi was great; the meat had good flavor and the veggies were crispy and fresh. The kani salad was my favorite with a flavorful dressing and the right amount of topping and lettuce. I wanted to love this place. I love sushi! While the place was clean and cute, and the service was quick (I was the only customer on a Thursday at 2 PM), the food was only okay. It is a step up from HyVee or Pick n Save sushi. It is made custom, but with a limited sushi menu. I ordered super white tuna sushi, spicy tuna Maki, and Alaska Maki. They should be pretty straight forward but the taste was off. I may attribute that to the packaged Wasabi, I'm accustomed to the dryer clumps of Wasabi from Takumi. I questioned if the soy sauce was actually Kikoman. Also a key factor for sushi, IMO! This is still much better than Sumo. Price for a basic Maki roll was more expensive than Takumi. End recommendation: just go to Takumi.

From the moment I entered the establishment it was evident that hospitality was not a priority for the staff. To begin with I arrived at the restaurant with the intention of dining in and enjoying a relaxing meal. However without any proper communication or inquiry, the staff assumed that I was wanted a to-go order. Not once did anyone bothered to ask about my dining preference or offer me a table. It was if they had made up their minds before I even had chance to speak, leaving me feeling overlooked and dismissed as a customer. The most distressing part of this experience came when i paid for my meal and had to sign my receipt the cashier threw the receipt at me with an air of annoyance and impatience. The interaction was completely unprofessional and left me feeling belittled and unwelcome.

The food was pretty good. Just don’t dine in and lower your expectation. They give you the menu, and then seat you. You would think they’ll come take your order, but nope. You have to go to front and order then pay, and then tip. You don’t even know how your experience is going to be like. Everything is in plastic. You have to throw away your own food. Basically, it’s take out, and dine in their table given. Don’t expect good customer service.

We had a bad experience, but enjoyed the food. We were a group of 7. We arrived first and was seated. Then, they seated another large group by us, EVEN though the whole store was empty. We didn’t have any problem with them. The guy who was with that group did not like us apparently, and then asked the worker for us to be moved. We LITERALLY got there first. We were then moved to the other side of the store. It was insulting that they did not value us as much as the other customers. It’s also a bit expensive for sushi. Cost us $120 for such a little bit of food.

Do not dine in. Just do take out if you care about your experience.

All the fine-in orders are served on the single use dishes that the pricing close to the nice Japanese restaurant!

We (three of us) were the only customers there for the entire time of our meal.

Our first time. My son and I tried the egg rolls (HOT!!), Japanese fried rice with chicken, the hibachi chicken, and vegetable tempura. They don't serve water for free, the price to food ratio is worse than downtown, and the presentation is awful. You'd think for a 10 dollar roll they would put it on a plate instead of a flimsy little plastic container.

The best thing was the grill, which did taste good. But their sushi and lack of proper service was an odd choice for what should have been an otherwise respectable restaurant.
