After being on the river all day, we were starving and stopped here while charging our car at Kwik Trip. Staff was so pleasant and steak was great, along with the buffet bar. My buddy didn't love the pork chop. Would 100% come back. thanks NCSB!

The service was ok. Waitress kept our table clean but don’t ask if we wanted refills. We would have to ask for them and she allowed one to run dry.
The food was warm at least but for me wasn’t flavored nicely. The enchiladas were good. The salad bar was really good too. The steaks were dry, tough and over cooked every time. I went up 3 times for a med rare and each was well done. Definitely need to season them otherwise they are flavorless. The deserts wasn’t that bad

Home style buffet. We live in Madison and drove up specifically to come here. Location is good, food was good, service was great. Staff were working their butts off making sure the tables were cleaned and refills and the buffet was clean and stocked. Every thing in the buffet was well stocked! Which is a rare thing for any buffet but these gals (primarily saw women working except at the grill which were men) kept the buffet clean and the guys on the grill were very helpful and polite.
Steaks were super moist and perfect size and consistent. Unlike going to like golden corral or a different buffet where you get inconsistent cuts and could get a cut with inconsistent temps these steaks were wonderful. Burgers looked good but we didn't have them.
Could have slightly more room in between the steak/meat station and the rest of the buffet as if you wanted sides or other meal options you felt like you're cutting in line.
Lasagna was kinda lack luster but was alright. Had a well stocked taco bar. Well stocked dessert station. Cheesecake wow! That is delicious and one of the best cheese cakes we've had.

Really good food and good options! I got a steak and did the salad bar. Lots of healthy options with the salad bar. I loved the variety of food, from a small taco bar, to mashed potatoes and corn, to salad and pasta salad options, I dont even remember everything else I saw up there. The dessert bars were really good. Service was genuine and friendly.

This was our very first time at N.C.S.B. Restaurant in La Crosse, and it was an amazing experience! The all-you-can-eat steak is truly unique and cooked perfectly — something you don’t find everywhere. On top of that, there’s a full buffet with plenty of variety, so everyone finds something they love.
The staff was welcoming, the service fast, and the portions generous. If you’re in La Crosse and want a special dining experience with both quality and quantity, this place is a must-try. We’ll definitely be back!

The 6oz sirloin was very good, they ask how you want it done and that's how you get it. They have a nice salad area. And a good desert area. The rest is pretty standard buffet food, something for everyone I think. Staff is very friendly and took good care of us.

We came for an early dinner on Saturday, August 9 to celebrate my niece's 40th Birthday, there were 12-14 of us ranging in age from 12-80. Needless to say, with varying tastes. Everyone enjoyed EVERYTHING they ate and had a great meal. The workers, from the cashier/hostess to servers and buffet workers were super helpful and accommodating. I'd never been to North Country, I live a couple hundred miles away, it was awesome in every way!!!! Definitely recommend!!

$17.00 for a buffet that there is no way you can try it all! The fried chicken is to die for…Old country buffet and Ponderosa step aside for this one. Just happened see it on our trip and thought why not. TBH there’s every reason why you should stop.Enjoy!

I came in expecting a weird but good buffet, but it wasn't weird, it was just really really good. I had tons of food being burgers, bread sticks, brownies, chips & cheese, and more. There was a pretty large selection of food to choose from, and nothing was disappointing. The prices were all under $20 a person, and extra cheap for children, plus a military discount included. Would come again, and would recommend!

I live two hours away, but this place has been on my bucket list for at least a year on the chance I travel through. The opportunity finally arrived yesterday to visit with my wife and two children and I am very glad it did. Most buffet places have subpar service and at least some food that is subpar as well. North Country had neither. Every single thing we ate was amazing and every staff member we encountered was genuinely caring and friendly. In a way I'm glad I don't live closer since my waistline wouldn't appreciate it, but I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area again!

They should remove "steak" from their name because the steak is downright awful. Why even offer a rare or medium rare if everything is medium well / well?
This place is honestly forgettable and reminds me of Old Country Buffet before they went bankrupt.
The only thing saving it from a 1 or 2 star is their alternate offerings but I would also avoid the Alfredo sauce because it's very grainy because they're using a pre-shredded cheese or jar they crack open.
All-in-all though if you're looking for a steak this place is an easy skip. If you yearn for a little bit of everything at a reasonable price, it peaks at 'ok'.

I hadn't been to NCSB in 6 years until this day. They always had good food back then and found out they still do!! They made some changes inside during Covid and it's so nice! The atmosphere is a cozy home feeling. Salad bar was amazing as ever, steak and chicken were perfect. I just highly recommend coming here to eat!! There's something for everyone!! And the staff are all so very nice too! :)

It's a good buffet. Way better than ole country buffet, but still buffet quality food. That being said, I don't believe they have any competition for 50 miles in any direction, so take what you can get. It is very busy, so I bet other folks are not as snobby as me and love the joint.

Stopped in for supper and returned the next morning for the breakfast buffet. The salad bar choices were more than adequate, and they were fresh. The supper items were tasty, and the area was kept very clean. I'm not a breakfast person, but the copious amount of bacon, French toast sticks (BEST I've ever had), and salad kept me happy. I met friends for lunch. I was impressed by the variety of cold and hot foods on the buffet. My steak was ready in a few minutes. I had salad, steak, and a variety of sides. I love the variety of selections especially grilled meats! My only disappointment was no diabetic desserts! I've voiced this on there comment cards repeatedly but nothing ever changes! They are not listening! The ice cream that is low sugar is not edible!

I missed this place so much after moving away for a couple years! The steak is always top-tier; great job cooks! Fair price as well. Although I wish you would bring back the old icecream station, with the build your own toppings. The side dishes lack in flavor sometimes, my only complaint.
