Great atmosphere with a lake view. The servers were friendly and attentive. The food was average for a higher end pricing with little difference between the king cut and queen cut prime ribs with bland chunky mashed potatoes.

It appears that there's an unofficial dress code for Norton's. Jackets and slacks, and designer polos and sport shorts on a conditional basis, are required to be seated. Our party of 4 were told it would be a minimum of 45 min - 1 hour wait and could be longer. We watched a 4 person party come in after us, and were being seated as I turned in our pager.
Unfortunately, we came from our campsite and we were presentable enough for Heidel House, but not Norton's on a busy Saturday night.

My favorite restaurant for atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food is hit or miss. Atlantic salmon was average, its been better in the past. I knew i was in trouble when I had the extremely bland $13 mac and cheese. This was beginner level mac. Chicken linguine Alfredo was ok. The chicken was very good. The Alfredo was more of a bechemel sauce with a funky nutmeg like flavor it in that i did not care for. It did not taste like a true Alfredo sauce. Service was good.

Worst “General Manager” Ever!
Date of visit 8/25/2025

Best part of my visit to Norton’s was waiting for our table at the tiki bar outside, my drink was good and both bartenders were friendly. That’s it for positives: everything beyond this point in my visit was awful. The worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant of this stature.

This is going to sound like I’m raging on the waitress who the “General Manager” informed me was new but this awful experience really is a reflection on him and not as much her.
Our waitress had the max volume was of a church mouse and we could barely make out anything she said during our meal. First thing was the drinks, asked for our dink orders and the other to ladies with me ordered sodas due to them not being drinkers. She wasn’t aware if they carried coke or pepsi but then stated pepsi so diet pepsi’s were ordered. 10 minutes later she returned and stated that its coke products so diet cokes were ordered. 10 more minutes later a regular coke arrived. Then we finally ordered our appetizers, the deviled eggs and escargot. When the escargot came out it was cold once she returned to check on us I asked if it was supposed to be cold and she stated “I don’t think so” then took the uneaten plate and walked away… that’s it, never got a new one or an explanation of what happened to it. Our tossed side salad come out as Caesar, the French Onion soup came out as Beef Stroganoff. Was never asked what our choice of potato was or what veggie we wanted so we got random options. But my breaking point was when an elderly gentleman sting alone with a desert in front of him stood up walk to an empty table and took the silverware from the table and stated to us “I can wait any longer for silverware, it’s been 20 MINUTES!!! At the moment I had to go way something to the hostesses. I told them everything that happened and all I requested was a new server.

This is where the “General Manager” come into play. He shortly approached the table and asked what the issue was. I informed him of everything, even the elderly man. He stated “She’s new, cut her some slack” I informed him that it inappropriate for him to tell me to essentially just deal with it. I informed him we got a sitter to come here tonight to come here and spend a good amount of money. He offered to comp the next round of drinks. He was informed that only one of us was drinking and he could comp my one drink and the sodas if he wants but were not looking for anything free, we just want a new server. He the stated “Work with me here, I’m trying to fix this” I again asked for another server but that must have been not an option due to the fact we never got another server. We then witnessed the very nice hostesses tell the “General Manager” everything we stated and More! He appeared to walk away from them. We then heard them talking to each other that “he’s not angry enough” even the hostesses this he’s an awful “General Manager”. Once the bill came the only thing removed was the escargot that we never ate. The “General Manager” then stopped over and with a smug look states “I took the liberty of removing the escargot” I relied “I hope so, I never ate any escargot” he kept smiling took my bill of the table. What a joke, he clearly must have had a personal relationship with the poor waitress. Because I still can’t understand why he refuses to give me a new one or even apologize for our bad experience.
As we left the Hostesses apologized to us for both the waitress and the “General Manager”. Steer clear of this place! Until they get a manager who knows how to manage.

We came in at 5pm on 8/24/2025 and waited an hour to be sat, which was fine, we hung out at the tiki bar outside and the bartenders out there were great. The hostess that grabbed us to bring us to our table was great. When we did get seated our server didn’t come to our table for about 15 minutes. When she did she didn’t list off any specials or introduce herself, we could barely hear her. She couldn’t answer any questions about the drinks and didn’t even know if they had Pepsi or coke products. Our drinks didn’t come out for another 20 minutes and when they did they were incorrect. Another 20 minutes passed before it was corrected. We then ordered appetizers and they came out cold, and it was supposed to be served hot. We asked if the escargot was supposed to be cold she said no they’re not, and just grabbed the dish and left. Another 20 minutes passed before our order was taken. She forgot to ask if we wanted soup or salad and what type of potato, and when we asked If we get the option, she said no. Only for her to come back 10 minutes later and say actually yes you do. When the soups and salads came out every single one of them was incorrect. At this point, we were frustrated so we went up to the host and just asked for a different server. 10 minutes later, a manager came over and offered to buy us drinks, none of us wanted anymore but he could get the round we had currently and he asked what else he could do and we explained what happened and he said: “you should cut her some slack” The entrées came out on the colder side as well, and when we did get our bill, nothing was taken, except for the appetizer that we never ate, even though the manager had offered to take care of our drinks. Even the hostesses expressed how the manager wasn’t upset enough with the server for the poor service that us and other table she was serving were receiving. A nearly $200 night from food and drinks for terrible service and lukewarm warm/cold food. The other waitresses seemed great, the hostesses understood exactly where we were coming from. Do not recommend if it will be the same general manager and waitress.

I have been coming to Nortons for over 2 decades. The atmosphere, drinks, and service are always amazing. However, I feel that the food quality has taken a turn for the worst this summer. I have always loved their homemade salad dressings, which they no longer do anymore. I got the wedge salad and quite frankly it just wasn’t fresh. It was something you would expect at an average bar not at a restaurant at the caliber of Nortons. The bacon was in small balls of crumble not big pieces. The tomatoes tasted old. Personally I prefer cherry tomatoes on wedge salads. And the dressing!! It’s just not the same. Please bring back your homemade salad dressings they are a game changer.

The French onion soup was amazing! I was pleased that they still had their same rolls with butter those are great! Other table members ordered a burger and the tuna tartar. The burger was decent. The tuna tartare was good, but the large, weak crisps they served it with were incorrect. They needed to be smaller and stronger and maybe with some flavor. Honestly I miss the old Nortons. People just want simple, clean fresh food with the classic nortons atmosphere. No one is coming to green lake to order a seafood tower.

The outside area is amazing. We loved the tiki bar and fire pit while waiting for our table. We had appetizers and drinks and that was all great.

Dinner was pretty disappointing. The salmon was the best. My husband had ribs, and barely ate any of them. They were almost inedible. 2 of our group had the fried chicken special. They each had a piece that was cold in the middle. They were kind and brought a fresh piece for each of them. But it was disappointing.

They offered us a free dessert. The creme brulee was like nothing I've had before. It was liquid and not at all the right consistency.

We had high hopes after hearing it was redone and under newer ownership, but were sadly disappointed.

We'd go back for the outside area and appetizers only.

Host won’t answer the phone… please know ahead of time that this is a reservation only restaurant, but they won’t tell you that upfront… called numerous times, drove way out of
The way on a Thursday evening and was turned away with an attitude. Also was told “they might could find a table at 8:30 but no promises (they close at 9 as does Everything else locally) I hear it’s pricey anyway, so probably for the best.

Waited over an hour for salad and walleye dinner. Smallest walleye filet ever-and an additional charge ($9!) for a side of green beans, offered as if it came with the meal. We come to the Green Lake area often, we will not be dining here again.

We've been coming to Norton's for nearly 15 years and just came back to Green Lake for the summer. Our first experience with new ownership, new menu and new staff has been anything but a four to five star as in the past. Service was horrible. The staff was completely untrained and in high school. Food was overcooked and portions were tiny….we are not food snobs in any way, but this is not good. The prices on the menu are much much higher and we are happy to pay it for the "old" experience, but not now. Makes us sad that they have ruined this once great super club on Green Lake. Finally, to top it off, we complained to the manager who immediately said we were threatening him and told the hostess “call 911 and that we were banned forever!” OMG!!!! 😆 If they care, owners need to get in touch with me as our friends network/groups reach far and wide. Suggestion, fire the manager that can’t hold a civil conversation with an unhappy customer. From what we heard, this is the 4th time this has happened in the last month!

Staff were pleasant. Atmosphere very nice. Food — hit and miss. French onion soup was excellent. Down hill from there.

Dressing on caesar salad was watery. Shrimp entree with mashed potatoes and green beans came to table tepid; not hot. There were 6 small green beans, about 1/3 cup of mashed potatoes (served very dry, cold at the edges, and generally tasteless), and 5 small shrimp.

Extremely overpriced given quality of preparation and quantity of food.

This had been one of our go to places to get a fine meal in a beautiful setting. Definitely a huge miss. At their prices, not sure I would give it another chance.

We live in the area and hadn’t been to Norton’s in over a year so we decided to try it out again this past weekend. We usually go to dinners with a large group so I always give the waitress/restaurant some grace because I know it’s not easy serving large groups (13ish people). Unfortunately we were very disappointed in our experience at Norton’s this time. Dinners came out very slowly and oddly-some people were done eating before others got their food; random sides came out without the main entree; multiple wrong orders; steaks were way overcooked (which seems to be common based on other reviews) and overall service was just very poor for such an expensive restaurant-waters were not filled very often, we were there for 2.5 hours, salads were VERY tiny (again mentioned in other reviews). We love fine dining and have no problem with paying for quality food but this was not worth the price, which is so sad because the location and atmosphere of this restaurant are so amazing. In my opinion food quality and service needs a huge improvement or they need to cheapen the menu and forgo being a fine dining restaurant.

Went to the restaurant for my birthday on Thurs 2/20.
Great ambiance, and wonderful staff.
Ordered the walleye Almondine for $32.
Got 2 rolls and a small mediocre salad.
Asked if I could substitute a potato for the wild rice .
I could for a $6 dollar upcharge.
Really ridiculous!
Walleye had very little almonds, and red peppers were on it.
Disappointing dinner for what we paid.

Terrible establishment. Bartenders were extremely slow (20 min wait for drinks), said they didn’t have Smirnoff vodka to make a signature cocktail. Waited over an hour to be seated, with multiple tables open. They sat parties who came in after us—which is wrong! Didn’t get a chance to try their food, but service and the bar needs some help. Would not recommend unless you want to wait hours for what appears to be sub-par food

Such a cool place! Neat atmosphere, very pleasant staff, and wonderful menu with great food. I don't usually order soup but I took a chance on the cream of mushroom soup and it was amazing! I could smother everything in it.

The entire meal was good from the soft wonderful rolls and butter which by the way was also the perfect temperature (I hate when butter is served so cold that you can't spread it) to both my cream of mushroom soup and my husband's baked French onion soup my both of our entrees. I had the roasted scallops which were served on a bed of kale and cauliflower puree which did seem to lack a little flavor but I think it's because I was spoiled after the flavorfull soup, but the the grilled cauliflower and tomatoes on the side were delicious. My husband had the filet work sauteed onions and a loaded baked potato which came with delicious brussel sprouts on the side. We agreed that the borderlaise sauce would be better on the side as the fillet could stand alone!

Our server was adorable and delightful and attentive. Our food came out quickly and was the perfect temperature.

Although my negative comments were my initial impressions I didn't want them to be at the beginning of my review, let me end by saying, don't let the overwhelming smell of bleach when you walk into the restaurant at the bar area turn you away. It does not linger into the restaurant area. Also if you are annoyed by the unfitting music that is playing in the bar area, that too was not noticeable in the restaurant area. Lastly, it is unreasonably cold in there but that seems to be a trend in every restaurant around here. Bring a sweater, wear long sleeves and pants - no dining out experience is enjoyable if you're freezing!

I hate to leave this review due to the fact that my family and I have been coming here for over 20 years, but our last experience was so disappointing. This was our first time coming since the new management took over and it was a beyond disappointing experience. I do want to acknowledge how WONDERFUL Karrington and Zach were, our bartender and server, but the food was terrible. Not only did it take 50 minutes for food to come out on a Sunday night, but once it did, it was cold and bad. I got the walleye, which I’ve gotten for years and has been my favorite, and it was so bad. It was stiff, cold, and small. The rest of the family had cold food as well, even though we were told there was a back up in the kitchen.
Again, Karrington and Zach were fantastic, but I think the new management has really ruined the kitchen.

The appetizers were great. The Ahi tuna nachos were so yummy. But the service was horrible. We walked in on Memorial Day weekend asking for a table for 3. It was empty since we got there almost right when they opened. The hostess wouldn’t sit us where we wanted by the lake. She did seat other people there, that looked like they make more money than we did after we sat down. I went to Norton’s at least once every few weeks last season. I’m used to how impressively rude the hostess is but this was next level and the entrees were not good. The chicken sandwich tasted like it was a frozen patty from Sysco and the flat bread pizza was so bad I couldn’t eat it. If you are going to be that rude, at least serve good food. Save your money for Fox and Crow. The food is better and the experience isn’t comparable.

Just sharing our experience last evening. We stopped after my mother’s funeral. They were busy, and we didn’t call ahead, but we asked for table of 3. They said about 45-60 minutes and gave us a buzzer. We went outside and enjoyed a drink by the lake. An hour went past no big deal it was beautiful outside. I went in to use the restroom and decided I should go up and check to see how much longer. She found our buzzer number and said at least another 45 minutes. I asked “like and additional 45 to the hour we have already waited?” She said “Yeap that’s how it works!” I went back and told my wife, who has managed and or owned a restaurant a good portion of her life. No that is not how it works! Communication is always key! We have no problem waiting. We understand we did not have a reservation and they were busy, but the way it was handled was pretty extremely poor!

Classic, lovely, inviting. My only complaint is that I thought I’d branch out and try the gnocchi dish and found it odd and disappointing. I had bites of steak and pork chops from my companions and definitely had buyer’s remorse! I was very disappointed with the service/staff at Nortons. I had my wedding celebration this past weekend and had coordinated a large to go order 2 months in advanced with one of the managers. I drove 3 hours round trip just to talk with a manager to confirm this takeout order was possible.

As instructed a week before my wedding celebration I emailed Nortons my food order… and they bailed on me last minute! They said they were unable to accommodate my order.

This left me with a lot of stress the week before my wedding and very worried I wouldn’t have food available for my wedding guests.

Go eat somewhere else.

Planned trip 2 months ago and made dinner reservations at that time. Traveling with my 92-year-old mother I was trying to make things run smoothly. When we got there the maître d’ looked like she wished we’ve never walked in the door. She didn’t smile she didn’t say hello I wished I was somewhere else at that time. I asked if our table is ready but she said we would have to wait because she had to seat some other people that were not even in the room. Our table was ready but She told us to find a seat somewhere else to wait which meant my 92-year-old mother on a walker would have to go up the stairs. I went up the stairs, grabbed a chair and brought it down for her while we waited to be taken to our table. if it was just me, I would’ve turned around and walked out, but I had my mother. The food was great and Nicola the waitress was great. Based on the woman at the front desk, we will not be rushing back to be treated like that again. I am thinking we are not regulars and we don’t look or act wealthy and this is why we received such a cold greeting

Norton's accommodated our large group (10 adults, 15 children) like true pros. Brian the GM, and the 2 servers assigned to us did a great job, getting kids their food fast, great timing getting apps and drinks out, etc. Very friendly and personable staff.

Food was good, steaks cooked to order. Apps were excellent, especially the bacon wrapped scallops and firecracker shrimp. Drinks were tasty and well made - excellent whiskey/bourbon selection. Kids enjoyed their menu as a bonus.

Setting doesn't get any better than Norton's the lake views, lawn, sunsets. We all ate outside this visit, which allowed the kids to play around while the parents finished their meals. I had lunch earlier this month in the bar which is a very cool, classy atmosphere, and lunch was very reasonably priced (had a BLT).

Norton's is a gem.

Drive through the area and stopped due to the glowing reviews. Good was meh. Hostess and bartender we're not friendly. Waitress was nice and friendly, thought clearly new. The sprouts were actually good though.

Seems to be a place best for the townies how frequent the area and restaurant gets by on it's great location.

First time here, very over priced $9 old fashion for Green Lake, ya no! Had the baked fish 3 piece and it was two and a half pieces. Very small portion.. Very sad looking to be honest for $19. Not impressed. Very pricey for what you get, bread dry. No applesauce for potato pancakes as I did ask. The potato pancakes great if you had applesauce as an option instead of syrup. Applesauce is not as sweet as syrup. I go to a different fish fry weekly and a foodie guy and this was not impressive. Fish was plain no taste. I was thinking some fancy three piece and was just like any other baked fish and just smaller portion and more than usual price. The bartenders I will say were young but very pleasant and did a decent job. They got a nice tip because they were very personable and I know when you have a good or bad bartender. The food not impressed at all. I work in the industry so this was disappointing for my first time. Thanks

Wow. Such an expensive meal for very lack luster food. The salmon was very fishy, the dish was suppose to come with asparagus and it arrived with green beans. We spent 90$ a person (included one glass of wine and tip)…….will not be back. Too expensive for the quality and quantity of food.

We had dinner here twice. Both times the food was very unpleasant. Filet Mignon was undercooked, chicken fingers & ribs were inedible. Both times the owner came by and said "enjoy what you're enjoying" and left. What? I've never seen any manager or owner say that. Alcoholic drinks and dessert were good. Friendly servers and great bartender. Very overpriced and disappointed in the food and owner. Unless we are having a cocktail, dessert, or going with a group that wants to dine here, we will never step foot in here again.

Came here for the first time for a date night and I have to say the staff is what makes it 3 stars, otherwise it would have been lower. I read in other reviews it takes time for seating which is fine, however when getting seated our waitress (who was amazing) was slammed with a 12 table as well as other tables so we waited 25 minutes before another server came and took our appetizers and drink orders. Other tables seated after us were served before us. During each interaction it was anywhere from 15-35 minutes, again I do not blame our server that was slammed. The appetizers were mediocre, soup was superb and one of the best soups I've ever had, and main course wasn't bad, however not worth the price. I have to say it took a total of 2 1/2 hours for the whole experience. Which was 1 hr 45 min just to get all our food and 45 for seating. Will not go again, however the view is lovely and it seems like a good place to go if you want to drink/socialize with friends for a casual outing.

The prime rib was tough and not very flavorful. Our server checked in with us exactly twice…when we ordered our dinner and when we we’re finished. We visited in May, 2022 and had a very unpleasant experience with the food. The owner contacted me and seemed to want to make things right. We visited again in August and the food was just as bad as the first time. The owner simply said "well, enjoy what you can" and walked away. The food is ridiculously priced and awful. (Steaks, mussels, chicken, French fries, baked potatoes.) Drinks are unremarkable, but not bad. Go for dessert and get the caramel popcorn laced brownie. Skip the main menu entirely. The staff was very pleasant. If it wasn't for them and the dessert, Nortons and Doug the owner would have earned less than 1 star.

great atmosphere, but... ordered ribeye medium, but the thin strip of tough steak was medium well at least. The sauce to cover up the poor quality steak was salty. I prob still wouldn't have said anything but hearing the manager tell the table who had complaints next to us that normally everything is fine and "continue to enjoy what you're enjoying" I figure no use. Very disappointing for $49 steak dinner.

We drove and stopped in on a nice Saturday night (8/6). Note: there is also boat parking, but sometimes it can get crowded on a busy night.

We arrived and were told by the nice hostess that the wait time would be about 30 minutes. We took the pager and went outside to order some drinks from their drink tent and had a seat. There is a nice view of Green Lake from their front lawn to relax. There are also some lawn games to occupy your time while you wait. About a half hour later, we were buzzed and sat down at our table. We had a nice view of the lake from our seats as well. We ordered some appetizers and had prime rib for the main entree. It was cooked as ordered (medium rare is the only way to eat prime rib!) and was delicious. All in all it was a nice night with some good food. We will definitely be back.

Terrible service outdoors. Asked for menus and still no menu after an hour and a half. Finally searched menu online and ordered and PAID for 2 bowls of asparagus cream soup and people who came to the establishment over an hour after we arrived received their food before us. We were right next door to this place and just wanted carry out ws we didn't have time to do anything else for food setting up for the green lake fireworks. The hostess was a bunch of not good words. Ugh. We were hunger for steak dinner and never got served. Arrived at 5:45, checked in with hostess, table for two; and was told about 30 min wait. Went outside to tiki bar ordered 2 soft drinks. One diet sprite, one ginger beer. $8. Ok, a bit pricey, at least I got the whole 12 Oz can of ginger...but my partner would be given less than 1/2 a can pored over ice?
An hour later we go check with hostess and she said "oh yes, your number just came up 15 more minutes, server never came. We walked.

The evening started out very nice. But that lasted for only about 1 1/2 hours. We proceeded to the hostess stand was handed a table pager and told it would be a half hour (6:45pm). Wonderful! After having several drinks we realized it had been a hour. We asked the cocktail waitress to check on our table, she came back and told us the Hostess said it shouldn’t be long. As we watch the other patrons that came in after us get seated, we started wondering if we would ever get called. I went to the hostess station and asked when we would be called, and she stated it would be soon. We finally got sat at 7:53pm. It then took 20 minutes for a waitress. As for the food it was mediocre at best. French fries were little tidbits. If you’re looking for pricey bar food…this is your place! Rudest Hostess!!!

We were very impressed with the view, it was lovely. The food however was overpriced for the quality, and the service, while friendly, was incredibly slow. We waited over half an hour for our appetizer, and weren’t asked our entree order until after the app came. When it came, the food was ok, but not delicious. Overall we waited well over an hour for our food. It felt like a restaurant that knows they can charge whatever they want because they are lakefront and touristy.
