I’m in Madison for only 1 month and trying to find the best wood fired or coal fired pizza in the area. I think I’ve finally found it.

I placed a mobile order on their website and it was super easy. I hate when they force you to make an account just to order… and this place didn’t so that was already a good sign. I got a margarita pizza and added Italian sausage. $12 total. Can’t complain at all with that price, considering a lot of other places start at $15 and ask for an extra $3 for crumbs of sausage. Not this place.

Just as I pulled into their lot, I got a text my pizza was ready. As I walked in, the place smelled phenomenal. The woodfired smoke baking fresh crust and melting cheese. The two workers were extremely friendly and addressed me by name before I even introduced myself. A nice, friendly touch. Thanks guys!

Now the pizza. Is it the best ever woodfired pizza I’ve ever had in my life? No. But it’s up there. The smell was fantastic right when opening the box. The crust was nice and crisp and remained so through the entire meal. The sauce had a nice tang and the flavors of basil, oregano, and garlic complemented the cheese and meat well. The mozzarella had good cheese pull and the sausage tasted fresh.

Overall, pretty pleased with this place. Will definitely come back and will recommend to people in the future!

After hiking at Devils Lake for the day, we were looking for a good pizza to finalize our first night of a bachelorette weekend retreat. We were not disappointed. Pizza was excellent - five young women and myself (mom of bride) ordered what we each wanted per our individual tastes. The pizza was hot, filling and excellent. The refillable soft drinks were an additional perk, and the ones that ordered beer/wine were served cold drinks to accompany their meals. Our bride-to-be was even treated with a Nutella pizza! Sadly, we live 4 hours away - so we won't be able to frequent this establishment often - but those who visit Madison or live there - do yourself a favor and check out Novanta. Grazie mille, Novanta staff - for a nice dinner for all of us!

A very nice and rather busy little restaurant, serving authentic Italian pizza, salad and desserts.
The doughy crust is to die for.
It was a birthday gift from the gods to find the one of six (i think) outdoor tables cleared just in time for us. Because at 4pm on a hot July Friday it was the best seat in the house.
It is a very narrow unit in a strip of small business' so inside, everyone is in very close proximity. Especially at the entrance, where orders are taken, the food is made and pick-up orders take place while patrons enter and exit all in the same space.
Just make sure you're on the appropriate side of the velvet rope for which ever part of the process your at.

Sometimes you meet the friendliest, most charming and skillful hostess/cashier working at a small pizza shop near your business. I am so so bad with names, but I wanted to give her a shout out regardless.

Also the pizza is really good. Seating is a little limited but as a single I havent had to wait to sit over lunchtime at least. I dont know what it is about their pizza dough, it's simple but it drives me crazyyyyy. I dont know why my favorite pizza isnt listed on the printed menu (but its on the online ordering form), but they dont miss a beat when I order it at the register anyway.

If you want authentic tasting Neopolitan pizza? This is the place. They cook their pizza in an imported stone oven for that “better” taste. I normally get the Pepperonchi which is very mild tasting but extremely flavorful. You cannot miss with their cannolis. One of my favorite items is their fresh mozzarella! Made daily right at Novanta. I’ve never had a bad meal here. You can go for a quicker lunch, which I use to frequent their University location with co workers. Haven’t been there since I stopped working. Both locations are a delight.

I was really excited when I saw that they cooked their pizza the Italian way in a 900° oven. However, the pizza I received was partially cooked, had no crunchy crust to it whatsoever, no char at all like you would typically see with a true Italian pizza. But not only that, the marsala Pizza was Bland at best. Also ordered a small Gorgonzola salad that was decent, however, the tiramisu was dry and not tasty at all.

Overall I was disappointed and will likely not be back. For the quality and portion size of the food it is highly overpriced.

The cannoli and the chocolate truffle gelato were absolutely divine—each bite was a delight. I took home the Regina pizza last night, and it was so good that I found myself returning the very next morning. And I have to mention…..the roasted red bell pepper soup? Simply unforgettable. The Food: I had half Margherita / half Salsiccia pizza (mozzarella, roasted peppers, olives, mushrooms, basil); Unshackled red wine; and Chocolate truffle gelato.

Salsiccia was best and was very tasty. The sauce is wonderful! There was only one small piece of basil on each slice of the margherita half. But after I mentioned my disappointment to my server, I was told that next time I can order extra basil at no extra charge. (Another reviewer said she paid for extra basil and didn't get it. But her photo shows multiple pieces of basil on each slice, which means they provided what they consider extra basil.)

Other pizzas sound quite good, too. Lots of unique options. I've had better Neapolitan pizza, but this was very good and a good value.

The gelato was delicious and a relatively light dessert.

The wine was recommended by wait staff and was a wonderful complement to my pizza. Nice and slightly peppery in taste.

Service: You order at the counter; you're given a number for your table; and the food is brought to you. This is reflected in the price, which is very reasonable for the quality of food. My pizza was served very quickly, which would make this a great place for lunch on a workday.

Atmosphere: It's a bustling place, especially for a Monday night. This is not a fine dining experience--more like you'd find in a solid sandwich shop. The kitchen is very open style and quite visible from the seating area. The staff have a very friendly, casual vibe but are very diligent.

If you're looking for a relaxing dinner, this is not the place. But if you want something out of the ordinary served quickly that won't exhaust your expense account, it's just the place for a traveling businessman.

Great personal size pizzas here. We tried 3 different pizzas. Our favorite is the Marsala Pizza (Mushroom, onion, Basil & Marsala Cream). We also enjoyed the Salsiccia (sausage & mushroom). The Pesto pizza was good. The crust is similar to a naan bread or flatbread texture which we really enjoyed.

Second visit. We are pizza snobs and generally don’t eat it out. We have a propane OONI Koda oven and make our own ‘za from scratch. BOth visits offered up top notch pies! My family wanted pizza for dinner as were we driving through Middleton on our way home after a vacation. My wife found this little spot, and we’re so glad we stopped.

The restaurant sits among a string of other little shops and restaurants. When we pulled into the parking lot, we saw a four tables outside with some people at a couple of them.

The inside isn’t large, with eleven tables throughout the narrow building. You order at the counter and then they give you a number. They bring the food out to you.

My wife had read they had different kinds of mozzarella. Sure enough, they had four varieties: a house-made mozzarella and a water buffalo mozzarella, both of which you could also get smoked.

The man at the cash register was super friendly and walked us through the cheeses and his recommendations.

The pizzas come in only one size, and they’re designed to be eaten by one person. So we each picked our pizza and then customized it a bit. And for the most part, additional toppings are just $1, a great deal for a place like this. Some specialty items were $3, though.

A sign in the restaurant explains that the pizzas are cooked for 90 seconds (Novanta means 90) at 900 degrees in their wood-fired oven, so it doesn’t take long to make them.

The crust on the pizza was perfect. It wasn’t too crisp but just had that right amount of chewiness. The tomato sauce was wonderful with just the right amount. I had tried the Regina pizza and asked that the water buffalo mozzarella be added to one side and then added their house mozzarella to the other half. Both were good, but I’d get the water buffalo cheese again for certain.

I don’t normally order a dessert, but we had been sitting a while just visiting, and I decided we should try their lemon sorbet. They serve it in the lemon peel itself. It was smooth without being overly tart. The four of us devoured it quickly.

I’d highly recommend this little restaurant. The food was great and the service was outstanding!

Novanta is one of my favorite spots to grab dinner with friends. They usually close at 9pm but don’t close the kitchen exactly at 8pm, which really helps! I’ve been here twice so far and have no complaints: service was amazing (and quick), food was great, and prices are reasonable (~$13 for a personal pizza). The first time here I got a margherita pizza, which I really enjoyed (even more so than the toscano that I had during my second visit - was a bit underwhelming because it doesn’t have sauce). I heard from friends that their caprese is also good. Anyways, I’ve yet to try their desserts but look forward to eventually doing so!

This is one of my go-to lunch spots on the west side! Service is quick and friendly with a really "neighborhood" vibe. Their pizzas have an amazing crust - it's chewy and pleasantly yeasty and has just a bit of char. And all their sauces and topping are fresh and high quality! Also, grab a cannoli while you're there, you'll thank me later! :D

Couldn't be more pleased. Staff was super friendly, fresh and clean environment and speedy service. We were a party of four and all loved their pizza. Rave reviews on their regular crust.

AND they have a Gluten Free Crust to die for. Crispy and taste, they do it above and beyond others I have had. What is more, you can choose from the many pizza's they offer or build your own. They even cook the GF crust on a separate pan so it is NOT contaminated. THEY GET IT!

Such a great place to go on a date. First date with my gf here, and a second one last night. For a strip mall exterior, there is a lot of charm inside. And the gelato for dessert was divine!

Tasty simple Fired Pizza, clean delicious ingredients was great after a long day outside. Was our first Cannoli.... wasn't what we expected however it was tasty.
