A very nice spot to rest and have a drink on the Lake walk. Bartender Seth was friendly and offered us sample of their draft beers and complementary chips. He made a delicious Radler ( 1/2 lemonade 1/2 Spotted Cow) . Use the door on the patio and walk up a flight to the bar. 1 + hr hike from Linn Pier.

The view is the only thing worth coming for.
Service is AWFUL!!!! The manager is rude, unprofessional, and honestly shouldn’t be working in hospitality. Third time here because of the view, but it’s definitely the last.
They split our group of 9 (4 adults, 5 kids) into two tables again, and the “manager” literally hid behind a door just to yell “stop screaming” at a child. Completely unacceptable.

If you want a nice view, grab a beer and go. Food is below average, service doesn’t exist, and management is a disaster.

We dined last night at Oak and Oar with our visiting family from Colorado. It’s such a beautiful place with the best view on the lake. The food was probably the worst food we’ve ever had. I was embarrassed to take my guests there. Two of us ordered a smash burger, one with a bun and one without. The no bun burger came out with just two patties about the size of a half dollar with no lettuce, tomato or onion. Just two patties. We asked for the French fried onions, which was a $5 upgrade and there was only a tablespoon on the plate and they were not eatable. We told our waitstaff and he immediately sent the manager over who was very confrontational with us….right in front of our small grandchildren. She looked so unprofessional, we were shocked that she could look like that and represent a so called upscale restaurant. Our bill was almost $200 and she only took off $5 for the poor food. We have no interest in ever going back. It’s too bad because we have been going there for over 30 years and have great memories of wonderful dinners and celebrations.

Typically I’m not one to be overly critical, but the food was not good. We ordered cheese curds as an appetizer, they were okay but very blond and minimal flavor. Then, I had the prime rib sandwich, which I expected to be like the one at the Getaway with slices of prime rib, and instead it was literally an Italian beef sandwich. That in itself was okay if I had ordered an Italian beef, but it was served with the worst part of the meal which was fries that seemed like they had been reheated from the lunch hour and had no flavor. Usually a place like this you overpay a little but you get a good meal, this was not that - might’ve been the worst meal I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. Positives: nice waitstaff and great view.

Great views, good food and just the right volume of background music. We stopped for lunch on a weekend. Service was excellent. The Margherita pizza bread was a 10+ item! Was surprised to find such a nice restaurant in Lake Geneva.

Hits: lovely staff, cozy atmosphere, incomparable view, great cocktails, beer cheese soup (!), complimentary chips & horseradish dip, the fair prices! Misses: sides like "creamy mashed potatoes" were lumpy, and the red cabbage was unexpectedly tart and raw-tasting. We were expecting more of a traditional preparation with the weiner schnitzel.

Disappointed. Accepted reservation for 5 people on August 12th. Found table was in room by ourselves with stored and stacked furniture. Attitude of staff ((except for waitress) was very uninterested. Please don't accept reservation if have to sit in storage type area. Very disappointed.

We had such a wonderful experience here. The atmosphere is happy and bright, and the food is delicious. The trout is a family favorite and I absolutely loved the steak with chimichurri sauce. Best of all was our waiter. If you go there ask for Seth. Kind and accommodating to our dietary needs. We have been there every week of the summer since we discovered the restaurant!

since we have discovered this place.

Wow, decided to try this place out. First you walk into this beautiful Geneva Inn on the Lake back to a gorgeous restaurant overlooking the lake. Tall windows at every angle with that view. Absolutely stunning. I was Greeted by my waiter who brought some homemade chips and the best homemade onion garlic dip I've had. Such a good menu, I chose a chicken sandwich with a bacon onion topping, it was very delicious. The waiter shared the restaurants specials, they do a Friday Night Fish Fry and Sunday Prime Rib dinner, and I can not wait to bring my husband for both . My new favorite restaurant !!Oh, and the prices were great for amount of food, service, and great views.

Seated right away, ordered drinks right away which took over 20 minutes to get with the restaurant 25% full. Door County wedge salad came without the cherries. Second time here, first time was average, gave it a second chance, won't be back. It's a shame because the view is spectacular.

My husband and I arrived at around 5:30 for dinner, we opted to sit at the bar as we did not have a reservation. The bartenders, J and G greeted us immediately and made our drinks. About 15 minutes later the bar area was overflowing with what we were told was a business group. Said group was loud and took up almost the entire bar area which made enjoying our experience difficult.

Although the bartenders were both very busy they were still attentive and polite, we got our meal in a reasonable time and the “barrel brat” was one of the best my husband has had.

Overall the service and food was excellent, just unfortunate timing of the larger business group.

My family and I absolutely loved our dining experience at Oak and Oar. This restaurant has become our new favorite spot for a delicious affordable fish fry and family meal. Between the stunning views of the lake to the decadent food, I would recommend Oak and Oar to everyone. We are so looking forward to returning.

Dined here July 29. After being seated, we waited FOREVER for our server to appear. Jillian explained that the restaurant was understaffed and that she was taking care of a private (wedding engagement) party. We asked if there was a possibility that they would run out of Wiener schnitzel. She said she would set aside (but not cook) two. Later, after ordering, she brought our entrees immediately! They had, in fact, been prepared when she said they would be reserved. Hence, the meat was dry, burned, tasteless. The kraut was cold. We have dined in the various restaurants in this location for 40 years. To say that this experience was disappointing would be a gross understatement. Ugh.

We’ve been staying at the Geneva Inn for 4 consecutive years, we spend 1 week each year. The big disappointment this year is the menu at the dining room, we usually dine there most days for the convenience. This year, though the menu is short of entrees, and the food is mediocre. . I don’t know what’s the idea of having so much fried food and handhelds? This is certainly not good dining taste. Please! please! at least get back the way it was last year! It is a pitty.

My daughter and I shared a bowl of tomato soup and the charcuterie board. The soup came at room temperature instead of hot. The charcuterie board had plenty of cheese, sausage and fruit but came with only 5 crackers.

This was the first time we ate at the new reboot. We were given homemade potato chips with a sour cream dip which were complimentary. My husband and I shared the crab cakes that were good. Tartar sauce and a bourbon mustard were included. The mustard didn't go with this. The crab cakes were lightly fried so they didn't have that crunchy top. We then shared the club which was good. They were busy so service was a bit slow. I don't care for fried food so finding something was a challenge. A few healthy options would have been appreciated. I saw the cheese board come out and it looked very nice. Unlike a review here showing some cheese and flatbread. Not sure what happened with yours.

Stopped by via boat to check out the new Oak and Oar. The restaurant looks the same except for it looks like someone forgot to replace some ceiling tiles and slapped up a couple of TVs. Nothing casual feeling about it. The bar still has very minimal seating and faces a wall. We couldn't get a seat at the bar and sat at a wooden barrel table which at least had a lake view. The bartender arrived shortly after to take our drink order. After they were delivered that's the last we saw him at our table, even though he was a few feet away. The table next to us had to go get their own drinks at the bar. We looked at the food menu which was very underwhelming and decided to pass on food, which was a good thing as we would have had no way to place an order since no one checked on us for close to a half hour. We sat with empty drinks for which seemed like an eternity when I finally flagged the bartender town. He grabbed two glasses of water and asked if we were waiting for them. I told him we were waiting for anyone to check on us but didn't ask for waters. Check please. Paid and left. It does not appear much has chanced except for the name.

From the moment we stepped into Oak & Oar, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere is nothing short of magical — equal parts warm, sophisticated, and effortlessly cool. Tucked on the edge of the lake, the restaurant offers a front-row seat to one of the most breathtaking sunset views you’ll ever see. Truly, there’s no better place in Lake Geneva to unwind as the sun dips below the waterline in a golden haze.

The ambience is dialed in perfectly — cozy yet elevated, with a subtle energy that makes you want to linger long after dessert. Whether you’re dressed up for a date night or just stopping in for cocktails with friends, the vibe is welcoming, stylish, and unforgettable.

Let’s talk food: every dish was an experience in itself. Thoughtfully curated, beautifully plated, and packed with flavor — this isn’t just dinner, it’s culinary storytelling. From the handcrafted starters to the bold, inventive entrees, you can tell there’s passion behind every plate. And the bourbon selection? Impressive doesn’t even begin to cover it.

But what truly sets Oak & Oar apart is the staff. They’re attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without being pushy, and genuinely passionate about what they do. It’s rare to feel so taken care of without it feeling overly polished — here, it’s just natural.

Whether you’re a Lake Geneva local or visiting for the weekend, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Oak & Oar. Come for the food, stay for the sunset, and leave already planning your return.

If you are a 20 something looking for fried, college quality food, then eat here. If you are a foodie looking for a gourmet meal in keeping with the elegance of of the Geneva Inn, then find a different restaurant.

I made a reservation for 10 and we were seated in a beautiful little room off the main dining area!
The food and drinks were delicious!
We kind of wished you could customize a bourbon flight, but everything tasted great and the staff was very friendly!
They did charged gratuity for a "large" party which is absolutely fine, just unexpected for a group of 8-10.

We will definitely be going back!

This is a great restaurant. The views of the lake are beautiful. The place is newly renovated and feels clean and modern. And most importantly, all of the food was good, and very reasonably priced. Our server was very friendly as well.

These BBQ chicken wings are like a cheesy rom-com in my mouth—full of saucy drama, tender moments, and a plot twist of flavor that made me fall in love at first bite. I half expected them to serenade me with a love song while I ate. Honestly, if wings could wink, these would be batting their eyelashes and stealing my heart (and maybe my napkins). Warning: may cause extreme cravings and sudden declarations of undying wing love.
