Came in for my birthday, and was overall pleased. We ordered the scallion pancakes, the crispy potatoes, the cheese curds, the Korean fried chicken, and the white fish.

Although the flavor of the potatoes were great, I would not have said crispy, as they were whole, unsmashed baby potstoes. Still good though!

Cheese curds were absolutely fantastic. They came with a mushroom based sauce. The flavors were unique and the execution was great.

Scallion pancakes were also insanely good. Its served with a mushroom salad of sorts and chili oil tahini dip. Highly recommend.

White fish was also great! Good smokey flavor in the wild rice and good sear on the fish. A little dry, but forgivable for a thin filet of white fish.

Here’s where I was totally thrown off guard. The fried chicken in my opinion was inedible and i had to send it back, which is something I’ve never done before. Really dry and tough, but what really ruined it completely was the fish sauce. The fishy aroma was so strong it made the chicken taste almost rancid.

However! I do plan on coming back and overall loved the experience with the exception of the chicken.

They were able to accommodate us on a walk in wait list which was great. Was excited to try based on all the positive reviews. Ordered 3 veggie and 2 meats, beets, mushrooms, squash, lamb and chicken. The veggie dishes were good but the mushroom dish was over fried with a dry seasoning on top which didn’t care for. The lamb dish was tasty but the lamb was dry and overcooked. Same for the fried chicken, was so dry and over cooked. The flavor profiles for the dishes were unique but overall execution was lacking. For the price point I would expect better. At this time, would either avoid those dishes or eat elsewhere. Perhaps on weekends quality dips with how busy it gets, I’m not sure.

Kitchen closes at 10 so just be aware ! I have yet to have a poor experience here and the new location has made the place seem like it’s even better than before. I appreciate your staff, food, and drinks so much. Thank you for making Milwaukee shine!

Odd Duck is quirky and delightful. My partner and I went here for a birthday celebration, recommend getting a reservation. I loved all the duck decor. The staff was down to earth and kind. All of our food selections from the menu were adventurous but still accessible. The only thing I wish could have been better was the noise level. At some points it was overstimulating. That being said, once the menu rotates, we will be back.

Odd Duck was fantastic! my wife has Celiac disease and i have a nut allergy. they were so accommodating, they marked off everything we couldn't eat from the menu and handed it back to us. everything was delicious, especially the crispy fried oyster mushrooms. we will absolutely be coming back to taste the menu again in the next season. thank you Odd Duck 💖 you made our month.

Odd Duck is our favorite spot in the city to celebrate special occasions. The dishes are creative, and flavors are meticulously combined for a unique dining experience. The funky cocktails are great, and the effort to source local ingredients (esp cheeses) is amazing! The staff is always knowledgeable and helpful.

While visiting Milwaukee last week, we were so happy we found Odd Duck. We sat at the bar and received wonderful service. My husband and I enjoyed the Asian pancake, the tortellini, and the steak. The flavors in each dish were thoughtful, sometimes bold, and always delicious. If I’m ever back in Milwaukee, I will definitely be eating here again.

We had an enjoyable dinner here. We had heard much about this place and we are happy we could make it for dinner during our short stay in Milwaukee. We ordered the board with cheese and charcuterie, the oyster mushrooms, the hamachi and two desserts. The hamachi dish and desserts were delicious. The board offered a great variety of cheese, salami and pate. The oyster mushrooms, while tasty, were much too salty. We opted to eat at one of their tables outside. It was much quieter.

Ughhh the food? So good. We stumbled upon this gem last minute while making dinner plans and were so happy we did. My parter and I loved it. The food and drinks were tasty. The crudo was our absolute favorite. The short ribs were good. The oysters were salty and packed with flavor. We’ve never had oysters that salty before and it was a pleasant surprise. I could’ve eaten two dozen to myself. If you’re in Milwaukee, odd duck is a must try.

Absolutely loved my experience here! When I visit a city, I love an adventurous foodie experience at least once where we can splurge and small plate restaurants are my favorite for doing just that. In a city where cheese and burgers are ubiquitous, we needed a break from typical American food and we got that and more at Odd Duck. The service was awesome from the host to the food runner (special shoutout to them) and our server. We ordered about 5/6 dishes as per our servers suggestion and I enjoyed every single one. We started with the chips and dip, the karretensalah, the hamachi crudo (as coursed by them) it was a good fresh start, my favorite being the crudo here then the salad was super fresh and I loved the touch of the apples. We went into the hot food after, which were the smashed potatoes coated in tahini and something sweet which was a nice tough to balance the savoriness and umami flavor of the tahini. Then we got the lamb manthi dumplings which were good but not as good as the Japanese beef short rib curry. So comforting and flavorful and rich! The pork belly was another favorite as well and I’ve never considered pairing with black eyed peas but it was awesome.
For dessert, we got the crème brulee (a MUST HAVE) need I say more. And the chocolate ganache cake with meringue cookies, this was good but if you choose only one go for the crème brulee.
The drinks we ordered were also very unique and flavorful. They have an extensive wine list which I enjoy but I felt like I was missing out if I didn’t order a cocktail and I’m glad I did.
Overall, loved this experience and sad I don’t live in the Midwest anymore so my chances of returning are slim but I will recommend to anyone visiting Milwaukee.

my boyfriend and I went here because the restaurant we planned was to busy. That was the most amazing stroke of luck! we went about 2 months ago and we still are talking about it. Our server (Jed) was amazing, personal, professional and very patient. I always feel bad for asking questions at restaurants about the food and drink. They very happily answered all questions and gave advice based on my preferences. Would highly recommend this place!

One of our regular spots. Food remains outstanding. Two quirky things to bring the review down a notch. We asked for some chili oil to beat up a few of our dishes. To my surprise, $2 were added to the check. Now I am afraid to ask for ketchup! In addition, I asked for a cocktail variation off the menu. Hit me for $18! When did we move to NYC??? No need to squeeze the customers, come on.

We recently came back to this place after a few years and it still does not disappoint! We came on Valentine's Day during a snow storm and it was still packed. Every staff member we interacted with was extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming.

The food we got were the chili crisp deviled eggs, the massaman vegetable curry, the aloo stuffed paratha and the lingonberry tart for dessert. Everything was delicious and should not be missed if you like Indian food. Also please get the chili crisp deviled eggs! 😍

I don't know why we took so long to come back but we will definitely be going back again soon!

Still Dreaming About This Place!

I live in Houston, and trust me, we’ve got food—but this place is my favorite. We were out of town for my brother’s graduation, and it was perfect. The service was on point, and the vibe was just right. The menu was unique with options for everyone—especially for my vegan family/friends (we had three in our group), and they were loving it. I’m a meat lover myself, but I ended up eating most of the vegan dishes—they were so good. As a total foodie, I’m already planning a trip to Milwaukee just to go back here. This place is that good. Highly recommend!

I made a reservation for my husband's 50th birthday and requested for a nicer table if possible. On arrival we were told it would be a few minutes wait but if we wanted, we could take a high top table close to the entrance if we wanted. Since it was a cold day and I had requested a nicer table, I said we would wait. After 20 minutes of waiting, I asked the hostess if she had an estimate on how much longer it would be, as I had made a reservation. She replied very rudely and said that "the people who are in there also made a reservation for an earlier time, that's how a reservation works". My husband was so upset at the rude attitude of the hostess and wanted to leave right away but I did not want to spoil his birthday. We were seated 10 mins later and the food was so average that we regretted even going there in the first place. People next to us were also celebrating a birthday and were brought a complimentary dessert, like they always do, but we were just given the check. We used to be a huge fan of this place for their fusion flavours and cozy atmosphere, celebrated birthdays and anniversaries in the last few years but this time the food was average and the treatment we got was unacceptable. They are either overbooking or need a maximum time limit on tables but behaving with paying customers, as if you are doing us a favour, is ridiculous!

Had a date night Saturday, January 25 with a gentleman that lives in Chicago who also has a unique allergy to Citrus. Chef Sam and our server Andrew went above and beyond to accommodate his allergy. Andrew effectively communicated the allergy to Chef Sam who in turn came out to our table with a menu marked up identifying the items that my date could enjoy without worry! Being in the hospitality industry as an Event Manager for over 25 years, this service was beyond FANTASTIC! Words cannot express this level of service we received. 10 STARS!!! Also, entering the hosts were all pleasant and friendly! The food runner, a young lady with short dark hair, sorry I didn’t catch her name. She reiterated the items that had citrus that I could enjoy and the items AJ could eat. Amazing team work! 10 Stars across the board!!!

We had a reservation but we were seated 25 minutes late. They did nothing to help or to assure us that our seat would be ready soon. The food was not worth it's price and in some cases was just plain bad. The short rib egusi was grossly underseasoned, the tempura mushrooms were over breaded but had a good sauerkraut. The duck agnolotti was superthick doughy pasta with minimal duck and very little crispy duck skin. The lamb was fine but was not cohesive. The stand-out dish that redeems the night was the mala frog legs, phenomenal 👌. The staff was ok, but at times somewhat rude when grabbing empty glasses and such. I can see that people like the place as it has a cool hip vibe but it doesn't meet its own expectations.

The food was excellent! We tried a number of menu items and they all paired well with the cab we enjoyed. Truly superb!

Unfortunately the service did not match.

We shared with our server that it was our first time in. He made a recommendation for a starter (without a description of ingredients or asking if we had allergies) and we went with that. The way it was listed on the menu, we thought it was a veggie starter.

When he brought it out, there was a bit of confusion and we had to send it back, untouched due to a food allergy. I was still charged for the dish and the server was condescending the rest of our visit as if to imply he doubted the allergy.

If a guest shares that it's their first visit, a little extra effort to explain menu recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Asking if a guest has food allergies is also helpful. Especially when you have a menu that is full of unique ingredients.

Beyond our server, the pace that the food was brought out was excellent. As soon as one dish was enjoyed, another was not far behind.

Bravo to the kitchen staff & to the chef! Well done!

09/28/24 - Sat/dined at the bar. We ordered two margaritas (EIGHTEEN DOLLARS EACH), they were not good at all, some of the worst we've ever had. They were so sour we could barely drink them. We asked for them to be sweetened so we could actually drink them and were told if we had Triple sec added it WOULD COST MORE but we could have some extra simple syrup for free. We were definitely not trying to get "free" alcohol (we are adults and have jobs) but wanted to be able to actually drink our drinks. The bartender offered to dump them out and remake them but we didn't want them dumped and remade - that's a waste (just hoping to have ours fixed). But it's weird... you would make two brand new cocktails but not add a 1/4 or 1/2 shot of Triple sec to our already-made gross drinks at no charge? We actually saved you money by not dumping them and having them remade! Even when sweetened/ fixed, the margaritas were still not good but were decent enough to swallow. The short ribs were good. Creme Brulee was not. Went down to La Merenda after visiting your establishment and had an EXCELLENT margarita for half the price. Won't go back to Odd Duck, unfortunately.

By far the best restaurant we’ve visited in Milwaukee. Each dish took you to a different cuisine and nailed acid, texture, spice and just flavor all around. The atmosphere is unique and I have been to the new location a few times. The food is pretty good, however in general, the quality vs serving size comes nowhere near to justifying the price. Definitely a few key dishes worthy of the higher price, but most are mediocre, especially the fried options. I will likely return due to the unique menu and atmosphere but unlikely to recommend this given many other options nearby worthy of the hefty bill.

Odd Duck may be the best restaurant I’ve been too so far in MKE.

They are beyond accommodating when it comes to dietary restrictions - I cannot stress this enough.

We had 7 small plates in addition to some charcuterie, oysters, and dessert.

The highlights of the meal were definitely the chicken liver pate, beef tongue pastrami, wood-fired octopus, Tibetan sharing bread, crispy oyster mushrooms, and the steak skewers. The lamb and perch were extremely tasty but a smidge on the salty side. The coconut custard was fantastic. Light, sweet, and a wonderful texture with the granola.

The service was great; the pacing of the meal was perfect and our server was incredibly knowledgeable.

Overall: 5/5 stars. We will absolutely be coming back in the future.

Wandered in two years ago and had a delightful time. Found myself in Milwaukee and immediately made a reservation to come back. Boy, was I disappointed.

Food: Mediocre at best.
Server: Great.
Manager: Rude. Condescending. Disrespectful.

Tomato/Stonefruit Salad: Flavorful and well salted but two slices of plum and half a tomato cut into quarters did not quite deliver on expectations. Hilariously overpriced for a few bites of salad when everything is in season.

Fried Oyster Mushrooms: More breading than mushroom. Not much real sustenance to be had here. Flavor was alright, nothing to write home about.

Duck Confit: Lukewarm. Tortillas were stale in the same way the first tortilla in a package that's been left out too long gets stale. Assumed it was under a heat lamp for some time. Embarrassing that the manager tried to pass it off as "melted cheese". Was told "we don't even have a heat lamp, everything is sent out as soon as it is cooked" and "there is a small heat lamp the dishes are under before they go out". Gotta get your story straight before you come to the table.

Octopus: The octopus was lukewarm at best. Manager offered to fire a new one. Instead, they tossed the same dish into the oven and replated it into a bowl. When she dropped the octopus the second time, it was accompanied with a snide "normally the only hot parts of the dish are the potatoes and octopus, the vegetables aren't cooked in the oven but the kitchen put the whole thing into the oven for you. Also, the pickled onions (garnish) are cold". The issue was never about the other components. The octopus was cold. There was no need to deflect to the other components of the dish. Furthermore, the comment on the garnish being cold might as well been accompanied with the manager rolling their eyes with the amount of disrespect. Perhaps an overreaction - when approached on the way out of the restaurant, I directly said "Hi, I'm not sure if you had meant to sound patronizing when you dropped the octopus the second time but that's how it was received." To which her response was, "I was just trying to set expectations and...". Stopped listening. I had made my comment, gave them an opportunity to apologize but yet they doubled down so I left. Never going back again. Such a pleasant food memory ruined.

You can see from all the reviews how eclectic and interesting the menu is, how well-executed the dishes are, what a quality bar they have. This place earns its accolades. A few hopefully helpful tips from a first-time visitor:
The 5:00-8:30 time slots on weekends book a month in advance, but my Tuesday peak dinner time slot was available a week and a half out.
We told the waiter my tablemate had a dietary issue and he took the menu back to the chef to scratch out everything he couldn't eat, and ALSO to note what dishes they could modify for him. Truly above and beyond service.
I sometimes feel too frumpy and uncool for fancy starred and Bearded restaurants, but I didn't feel that way here.

First time visitor and I loved it! I went with my son, who has a pretty severe lactose intolerance. Not only were there options for him, our most excellent server edited the menu so he could easily see what he could safely order.
It's a tasting plate arrangement so we shared two appetizers (deviled eggs and pimento cheese spread with crackers....both fantastic!)
We then had the turmeric catfish, Bavette's steak, broccoli, and fluffy bread with various toppings. Even with small portions they were easily shareable and we were too stuffed to have dessert.
The mocktail I had was outstanding.
We are outside, mostly because of the gorgeous weather, but also because it was meat locker cold inside and extremely noisy.
Our host, server, and food runners were all incredibly pleasant and helpful. This was all around a great experience.
I got so involved in my food I only took one picture of our appetizer and one of my drink.

This is the third time I’ve come here. The dessert drink was absolutely delicious, I haven’t had a drink this yummy for a while. We tried several dishes and we loved the catfish. It was crispy and juicy. The crispy mushroom was not my favorite. The breading was too thick and hard made it difficult to eat. The flavor was really good I just wish the breading was lighter. Buttermilk chicken is good, I loved the grits. Overall it was a fantastic experience again, I would recommend it to my friends.

Highly recommend the Tibetan fluffy sharing bread & the beef short rib. The dal, chutney, greens and pickles served with the bread were flavorful and the best thing we ate during our visit. The short rib was perfectly charred, yet tender.

The fire-roasted broccoli & crispy oyster mushrooms were both far over salted, some bites approaching inedible.

Avoid the buttermilk fried chicken. The grits were tasty, but $18 for dry chicken is appalling.

Hit or miss on dishes. Worth a visit to experience for the food adventurers. Get the board to experience the cheeses and add a mousse of your liking but be aware they charge you for additional bread and soda refills. Plates are small and prices are expensive. We may return in a year. New location is more spacious.

We went as a group of five and were told to get about two plates each as it is more of a tapas place. We got about that and were well satisfied. Most of the food was very good, with the charcuterie board really impressing us off the bat. The house made pate was delicious! I will say some of the dishes could be hit or miss, but usually were quite good. There seemed to be a lot of mix ups with our order, but they were all caught by the staff who would double check when they brought out the food.

Overall I can definitely recommend this place if you are willing to spend a bit of money. Also note you will definitely need to book in advance to get in.

A friend and I had a great dinner at Odd Duck. Adam guided us through the menu and suggested cocktails with great cheer. My buddy and I loved the chicken liver pate and the trout pate. The accompanying sour dough bread was delicious. Both of our entrees were new to the menu and were full of flavor. The dishes at Odd Duck are complex, made from unique ingredients and spices no longer difficult to attain from anywhere in the world.

The kitchen produces small plate dining, and we filled ourselves up with bread. Big eaters should order a multitude of dishes to share.

The space was claustrophobic for me, but I enjoy modern and minimal design. Odd Duck is more Milwaukee in its architectural concept. I prefer Milan and Sāo Paulo architecture.

Pricing is very reasonable. We paid $114 for 4 cocktails, 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. That’s nothing for this quality.

Odd Duck opens a 3:00 for bar food and drinks. The kitchen opens at 5:00. Next time I want to eat at the over popular bar. I believe my best chance is to get there at 4:00, booze up, and wait until that fantastic kitchen opens.

First off, sat at the bar, service was phenomenal.
Tried the oyster mushrooms, arab bread with dippings, pork schnitzel, and duck pasta. Overall mixed feelings. No single dish worked perfect imo, and nothing blew me away.
The oyster mushrooms themselves were good, very very crispy, but they came with some olives, a bit of feta, and some olive oil. It was lacking. Needed more of a sauce, something with more substance than a drizzle of oil and the mashed olives.
The pork schnitzel itself was really good as far as pork schnitzel go. However the sides did not fit the schnitzel.
The pasta was just mid.
The bread and pepper spread were delicious but i would rather some other spread instead of the pickled veggies and chickpeas.
Drinks were good, skipped on desert because of main plates not being as good as expected.

My boyfriend took me there for Valentine’s Day and prior to the day he had made a reservation and made the company aware of my food allergies. They were so kind in helping me feel comfortable and being respectful with such allergies. They gave me a customized menu labeling what had apples and cherries in it they also offered on the ones they were able to alter the dish and exclude the apple or cherry ingredients.

Odd Duck regularly appears on lists for must-visit spots in Milwaukee and the Chefs behind their phenomenal dishes are nominated for the James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Midwest. It’s pretty clear why.

Edit: After writing this review they were also awarded one of the Best Restaurants in the US by USA Today.

Most plates draw inspiration from a variety of cultures. Their menu is filled with creative ideas and a wide range of ingredients that makes it difficult to choose. I would recommend coming here with friends and splitting dishes to get a full experience of their menu. Most dishes are small enough that you can put in the middle of the table and pick at it while having some drinks.

The top item for me had to be the mushrooms. Probably the best fried mushrooms I’ve had and a well balanced dish by including some acid from the green tomatoes and a fat with the mayo and a little heat from the creole mustard. It sounds like a lot on the plate but the balance between everything made every bite phenomenal.

Hainan Chicken has been a dish I’ve wanted to try for some time and I was elated to see it on the menu. I can’t speak on the authenticity of it, but it was delicious and met my expectations. They give a breakdown of the dish and the proper way to eat it when they bring it to the table. That really stood out to me because it shows respect and passion for the dish to ensure their customers enjoy it as intended. For being rice and chicken, it was bright and aromatic dish.

I don’t want to break down every dish, but I will say as a Filipino the lechon and kare-kare inspired plate was impressive. It was filled with familiar flavors like shrimp paste that is essential to kare-kare, but the addition of basil and mint was a nice touch.

I think a few dishes are priced a little too high but overall I think the prices are well worth the experience. These chefs take time to research, construct, and execute every item on their menu. Their hard work clearly shows with each dish and is a place I would not hesitate to support again. All the praise I’ve heard is well deserved. It’s great to see places like this in Milwaukee that stray away from the usual and introduce Milwaukeeans to a melting pot of cuisine.

I don't know. Used to be a great restaurant, bring different flavors to the town. But this time, let me down. Everything was so salty. The cheese plate, the mushrooms, the classic seafood, and the woodfired steak were way too salty. Only odd duck cassoulet was Ok. I have to "kill" a watermelon to calm down my dry mouth afterward.

Cocktail #98 6.4/10 surprisingly bitter
Deviled eggs 9.4/10 delicious but they literally bring you out one egg for $8. A bit ridiculous.
The Gouda cheese pairs amazingly well with the beef tongue pastrami. 8.8/10
Pork belly. 9.5/10. Close to perfection on the pork belly.
Short rib 8.2/10 perfectly cooked, but the sauce is slightly overpowering.
Duck cassoulet. Drier than duck should ever be. 5.2/10 but the rest of the dish is rather good. Shame they tripped on their namesake.
Lambert Shiraz. 8.4/10. Darn good Shiraz.

And you do have to use your hands to leave the bathroom but the paper towels are nearby

Overall a great place to spend $100 per person on a lovely experience

The food was hit or miss.... Cioppino was the star of the show with the scallop being cooked perfectly. The papusas on the other hand were underwhelming and missed some key components that were listed in the menu.

The service was great although there were some hiccups with some ordered dishes, but they were quickly rectified and fired.

The atmosphere in the front of the restaurant was not ideal. There was an inebriated party of six that came in to wait for a table. The party was allowed to have standing room amongst others while eating during their long wait. While it's hard to control patrons, especially when inebriated, it seems allowing standing room ruined the other patrons experience for the measly cost of some cocktails. During most of my meal I had people elbowing me and conversing very loudly directly behind my chair which ruined the experience.

Odd Duck features a rotating menu that changes often and without warning. They play into seasonal ingredients and offer their own fresh renditions on familiar cuisines. While you probably shouldn't get too attached to anything on the menu when you dine here, you should be excited about an exciting new experience on your return.

I came here and shared a few plates and bottle of wine. The selection of beer, wine, and spirits is plentiful - you will find something you like. There are plenty of house cocktails to keep things interesting.

Service here was outstanding! Our server was helpful and friendly without being the slightest bit overbearing. Water and wine were never empty and I truly appreciated it.

The menu is split into three; snacks (this includes charcuterie), vegetables, and animal. Snacks are one to two bite "appetizers" for lack of a better term. We tried the deviled eggs and were surprised by how tasty they were.

The Fried Oyster Mushrooms were my absolute favorite. They were so crispy, and the mushrooms were perfectly cooked. All of the ingredients tied everything together. As a Filipino, I had to give the lechon and kare-kare a try. I have to tip my hat to Odd Duck on this rendition. The kare-kare sauce tasted like bagoong, or at the very least, some kind of shrimp paste. This is indicative of a kitchen that does their homework and pays their respects.

I recommend coming here with people that love to eat and won't mind sharing. This is a meal best enjoyed by ordering multiple plates and sharing everything. This way you get to try the most off the menu. Prices were on the higher side but the quality more than made up for it! Overall, all of the food we tried was very well prepared and equally as balanced. I was very impressed by the kitchen's execution and will be returning.

Odd Duck is a foodie's dream and is likely the best restaurant I've visited in Milwaukee. As a former service industry grunt, you all have my deepest respect.
