Absolutely excellent ramen. After spending 40 days in Japan from Kagoshima to Sapporo exploring a good amount of the country, I can safely say this is easily the best ramen I’ve ever had in the United States and it’s probably in my top 10 (maybe even top 5!) that I’ve had ever. In Wausau of all places! Awesome! I ordered the classic Char Siu ramen and it was absolutely to die for. Typically with Tonkotsu style ramen you expect a fairly garlicky broth but this was not garlicky at all! Very well balanced pork bone broth, on the sweeter side. The cuts of Char Siu are super thick and tender, absolutely delicious. My favorite part of the bowl was the spicy bamboo shoots, next time I come down to Wausau I will definitely ask for extra bamboo shoots. Takoyaki is as good as anything I had in Osaka! Will 100% be back, this place is an absolute gem!

Nice atmosphere. Ordered the char sui Ramen and seaweed salad and octopus balls. All very good. Had ramen in Japan and this was comparable to what I had in Japan. The broth was rich and perfectly seasoned. I did not add any soy sauce or condiments.

This is the best Ramen I've tasted in the states since I visited Japan. I visited Japan back in February of 2025 and I have to say, Oishii Ramen actually tastes better than some of the ramen bowls I've had over seas. The broth is flavorful, they weren't stingy with the chashu, and the toppings was on point. Although, I think they can improve on the boiled eggs. You'll know if you have been to Japan. I would categorized the overall portion of the ramen dish as average. And I wish the price was below $15 a bowl. But it's wishful thinking in this economy. All and all, I'd give it a 4/5, would recommend.

Food was delicious, and the restaurant was beautiful. My one only complaint is that there wasn't many options for kids if any at all. My daughter had to custom order broth, corn, shrimp, and bamboo shoots while the rest of us were able to order a menu item. It would have been nice to see some kids ramen dishes instead of all spicy. Kids love ramen lol

This is a fantastic ramen place that I'll be eating at again. Simple. Easy to understand. Menu. Delicious food, reasonable prices. Good portions.

I got an appetizer, an imported beer, a ramen and dessert for only 40 bucks including tip.

The menu is huge. So many choices. The appetizer section alone is several pages. The steamed pork buns are fantastic. Just two of those alone would be a filling meal. The portion sizes are very generous so you get your money's worth for sure.
If you like a stronger seafood flavor level then the stir fried seafood ramen is a great choice.
I will be back to try other dishes.

I've been to Oishii Ramen in Wausau twice now and each visit has been great! The service is very friendly and attentive.

Overall the restaurant was clean and quiet with comfortable seating. We started with the jalapenos stuffed with crab and crab ragoons. Both were well priced and delicious. For mains I ordered the kimchi ramen and my partner ordered the ramen with pork belly, again they were everything we hoped. Prices are fair and food is delicious. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Stopped in in my way home from work. The staff was friendly and helpful as I had no clue what to order. I ordered to go which was a very short wait. The harumaki was delicious. Chicken katsu is good, has a firm texture. Kimchi ramen is good and spicy enough for my daughter. I had seafood ramen, less the oysters. Would go back again to try more from the menu.

(Update) my wife and I made it back to try it again, service was spot on food was savory and had the depth you wanted from Ramen. Definitely put this on places to eat for 2025, we will definitely be back very soon.———-
3 of us joined them for their opening night, I have been to enough restaurants on opening night to realize not all the kinks are worked out!! That being said this is the First Ramen restaurant in this market and the food did not disappoint at all. The broth was silky and smooth, the pork belly was perfectly cooked, and the noodles were perfectly delectable. My wife had the pork fried rice and she said it was better than any restaurant in Wausau. They have to work out some small details but give them some time and experience will take care of that. We will try back again in 2 months to compare, main focus the Ramen is worth the wait give it a shot!! It won’t disappoint.

One star for the amazing ramen. Zero stars for the service we received. When going out to eat you expect good vibes. We walked in and I asked if it was possible for a table downstairs and she said no kept walking and stormed us upstairs. Later, our waitress seemed super impatient and was walking away when I was asking for my drink. No smile, just a yes and no. I asked for a kid drink for my toddler and she brought me an adult drink...Both waitresses looked so visibly upset with no smiles. I asked her for extra sauce her response was "are you sure, they're gonna keep charging you" with such a straight face and also forgot it. We had left over ramen and I asked for a bag and she said no again!!! We left still hungry and won't be back until they get new employees.

This was our first time here, and it definitely won't be the last! Although they are a little expensive (I paid over $80 for two people without tip) so this might be a special occasion place. The service was also a bit slow but it seemed like there were only a couple women working and it was very busy so I understood. The ramen was absolutely so delicious though! I even loved the dumplings and steamed pork bun appetizers. The Moscato was cold and sweet and paired well with my meal. I'll absolutely go back to Oishii!

Super neat place, I really hope they succeed and become a staple of the town. A lot bigger and nicer than I expected. They have a bar with good drink selection, lower level tables and high tops, upper level tables and booths, and some more secluded rooms in the back, plus an outside patio area when it warms up. Nice bathrooms too. The food was really good and the service was great. It was pretty busy when we went but still got everything in a reasonable amount of time and our waitress was great even though she was super busy. It was a touch more expensive than I thought it would be, but on the slightly nicer end of the spectrum, kinda makes sense.

If I could give negative stars I would, went Sunday for lunch and got two apps and the beef ramen, firstly my cup must have been used, the inside was visibly stained with scum and it even had LIPSTICK on the edge of the cup, the appetizers where okay, nothing great, and our server didn’t take any of the empty plates from the appetizers when we got our food, didn’t give a refill “not that I would have gotten one” didn’t even come to the table after the fact of just bringing food, and walking away. The tables are small that’s why this was an issue, also that ramen tasted like a foot and there was just random ingredient that where not on the list of what was supposed to be in there, won’t being going back, and advise you to dodge this place also.

I never left a review until now due to me hearing about this place, I then decided to try it and this is my honest review. Please do not be offended nor triggered, this is just how my personal experience was, it won’t be like this for everybody, but this is how it was for me.
Took a while to be seated
The ramen broth tasted awful, same with the ramen noodles, the noodles tasted store bought as if it was left in plastic for a long time.
The chicken kastu, was okay, there was too much rice compared to meat to most likely cover up the rest of the cost, for what it’s worth, it isn’t worth it. The short ribs were, okay, not too bad, not too good, could be seasoned better, and over all made better. And the mochi ice cream, isn’t the best, it taste and looks the exact same at the store bought $6 for 6 pieces, but they charge $4.50 for 2 pieces, I understand restaurants, but the mochi ice cream wasn’t that good, I’d rather spend the extra $1.50 to get 6 instead of just 2. The service was nice however, the lady was attentive and very nice. The building is quite beautiful, reminds me of lemon grass. The menu reminds you of Lemon grass, Phozone, and Brokogi. Over all, this place is nice, it’s just a restaurant I’d try once and never again. The atmosphere and service doesn’t cover up for how bad the food truly was, my entire table was not satisfied. I’d rather take a 2hr drive to go to Chicago for ramen, than here.
And you had to pay for side of rice for $2.50 which is crazy to me, for that much rice shluld at least be a $1 or $1.50 max. And I also dislike how there isn’t an option to not tip, and it feels like it’s very demanding to tip. They asked 3 times for tipping which made it uncomfortable to be honest, and when I declined nicely? They handed a receipt that gave an option to tip. I know it’s their job, but, future advice, just say “you could tip if you would want, but you don’t really need too” instead of “would you like to tip?” But, yeah, wouldn’t come here again over all, nice place, just pretty bland food.
And everyone’s experience is entirely different, this is how mine is

The first time I visited. I was seated at the bar and had no service for over 20 minutes. I left without food or drinks. That was the second day they were open. I'm glad I went back. This time I was seated promptly and a server was with me within minutes. The sex jalapeños were really good. The chicken katsu was crispy and tastie a little dry bit still real good. The vegetable Ramen was good and not overly salty like some places.

The place was a lot bigger than I expected. The decorations were very nice and added to the dining experience.

Food was overall good. I had the pork bao bun. The bun was very good. The meat was a bit thinner than I've had at other places. But still good and would recommend.

I had the Char Siu Ramen with added spicy oil. The spicy ramen they offered had only shredded pork. I wanted the whole pieces so I customized the order. You can add more stuff to it for additional charges. The broth was nothing spectacular. But it's on the better end compared to some other ramen shops I've been to. I would visit again if I'm craving ramen in the area.

Had the Takoyaki appetizer. One of the pieces was missing an octopus inside so that was a bummer.

Service for lunch was very fast. The staff were also very attentive.

I'll be honest, I was actually interested in trying their stir fry and their Donburi, but considering it's my first time at the ramen restaurant in Wausau versus the other ramen I've had in Chicago and internationally, I figured I should probably get ramen. 😁

Food - the ramen, I got the Char Sui Ramen, shumai for appetizer and a Pepsi.

The shumai wasn't great, but not bad. Honestly, it tasted like a packaged version that was steamed. Not very flavorful. The ramen on the other hand, was very good. My only two issues: I would of like the bamboo shoots cut a little more narrow and the pork belly was hard to handle. There were 3 mid to large sized pork belly in the broth, so a good amount of meat. My only issue was picking it up with my chopsticks if they had been cut in half versus the more ovular form. Also, I thought they were a little chewy.

Overall the flavor was good. The ramen noodles tasted very similar to other ramen noodles I've had and Milwaukee, Chicago and in the Philippines. So very authentic.

Atmosphere - I love the pictures of the ramen bowls, the authentic ramen lanterns, and the other knick-knacks.

Service - they need to have at least one more person who is just in charge of the bar/hosting. You could watch as people walked in and no one was there to greet them or they waited for a bit to be seated. I ate at the bar and I actually had to wave someone down to get a refill of my Pepsi. The only time I was checked on was when they brought me food. Definitely need to hire one or two more positions.

Overall a very good ramen place! First of it's kind for Wausau which is a very exciting thing. The flavor of the ramen was delicious especially the broth. For the noodles I wasn't sold on it being authentic. Next the service was good. Seemed like they were short staffed but super friendly! I'll definitely be back and I'm excited to see what's in store!

Wausau finally gets Ramen! And it's actually decent?! The overall atmosphere in this place was a mixed bag though. Perhaps the owners are a little wary of Wausau's openness, but to me, it felt a little off. It was half modern contempo American, half Japanese/Asian themed. Country music in the background really sealed that feel. I get Wisconsin Bar feel, not authentic Japanese cuisine, but I guess that's fine.

Food: B+
We tried 4 different Ramen dishes. Woulda been more, but I'll be back to try more. I will also leave next time to try the appetizers as well as the other non-Ramen dishes. Since I am judging for Ramen alone, I'd give it a solid B. Two of the dishes were amazing (A)! The other two? If I didn't already try the previous two, these would've been fine on their own; Bs.

Service: C
Waited for quite some time to get seated even though we were the only ones in line? I mean, not 30 mins nor anything like that, but for being the only people there, other than the current patrons, it was about 20 mins to be seated. We got served in a good amount of time. Refills & a request for napkins; I never was able to get a refill & had to ask twice for Napkins. Twice isn't much, but it was 30 mins between requests...& she forgot the 2nd time also. Perhaps they aren't fully staffed, yet, but this area could use a slight improvement. The hospitality of the staff is GREAT though.

Atmosphere: B
Again, this is where I got a mix bag. At times, I felt I was having American fare. Then I'd turn my head & feel I was in an Asian Restaurant. And it kept going back & forth like this. And then I realized...I'm in Wausau (I'm not even sure what that last comment means); still diversifying/growing? I was able to block this out first the food.

Would give this place five stars but they need a little improvement. The food is very delicious, but it needs a little more stuff in it. Not just noodles and broth. My vegetable Ramen could use a little bit more cabbage, and mushrooms, or maybe tofu or some other stuff in it. The seafood ramen had only two small pieces of shrimp and two small muscles. Kind of a joke. Seems a little pricey for not too much stuff. Other than that, this place is amazing! Very delicious.

It looked promising, but we were ignored by several staff for over 15 minutes. Unclear directions had a group of over 10 people bunched near the entrance (a clear fire hazard) waiting for even a greeting from the staff. I don't recommend coming here unless you have a lot of time to waste and patience to spend.

The positives- loved the food and the atmosphere. The vibe and energy was great, I really enjoyed the Sexy Jalapeño appetizer. I also enjoyed our server as a human, he was fun and engaging... but...

The negatives- we ordered three appetizers and received no plates with them. This seems like something that shouldn't be missed on a table of 4. Our server wasn't around much, so getting an additional beverage was difficult. Our entrees did not come out together. One meal came, then few minutes later 2 more, and then another 5-10 minutes later the last one. Of course the 8 year old was the last served, which is bad luck but ya know...it happened.

All in all... new place, new people, it will get better. Probably should offer silverware too for the chopsticks impaired ;)

I'll give it another shot for sure.

Worst service I've experienced at a restaurant. Waited and waited while wanting to order just to watch 5-6 people come after us but get their food before us. Multiple people finished their meals before we even got served. Ordered an appetizer, people that came after us got theirs before their meal... But they finished that and their whole meal before we got ours. Asked about it and was told the waiter didn't know if our food was being made because he hasn't gone back there all night, isn't that your job? Told him we would just leave and get food elsewhere.

It was an excellent dining choice. The newly opened joint had a great look and vibe as soon as you walked in. There wasn't much staff, but as they just opened, it is not a concern. The appetizers arrived promptly, and the crab Rangoon was especially tasty, I highly recommend these. The food came at a respectable time even though they were quite busy. An easy five stars from me any day.

Stopped in for lunch, very busy, but we were seated in a reasonable time. I tried the sexy jalapeños and tuna for apps, and they were great. I had the kimchi and my friend had the crispy chicken Ramen and both were great. If you order the kimchi, please keep in mind it is spicy! We will be back!

Kind of disappointed and didn’t end up trying it yet. Got there at 8 and they didn’t want to seat us even thought they were an hour away from close. They did offer take out but were hoping for the dine in experience. Just thought it was a little odd for a place that just opened.

If you’d like to finish eating in a timely manner, don’t eat here. My mom and I ate here a few days ago and it took us an abnormally long time to even get our menus. Nobody checked up on us after getting our food, and my mom was missing an ingredient that she asked for. The food was great, though, so we figured it may have just been a bad day.
My partner and I went today, however, and the service was just as poor. We had to wave someone over to be handed our menus and we weren’t checked up on after our food arrived. Again, however, the food is genuinely really great and the atmosphere is clean & pleasant. It’s just a shame that something so fundamental as getting attention is such a hassle. Still, the novelty of finally having a proper ramen place in town cannot be overstated. If you’ve been looking forward to a place that has indulgent Japanese food at a decent price, it can’t be beat.
My recommendations: char siu donburi, char siu ramen, gyoza, and takoyaki

We arrived at 4:50pm a couple of days after they opened. We weren't seated until 5:40 and food arrived at 6:30. It was a long wait and we got there hungry, but it was some of the best Ramen I've had, and the best you'll get in about a hundred mile radius. Extremely worth the wait when craving some authentic ramen. Even if I have to wait nearly 2 hours next time, It's still worth the wait, if you love authentic ramen, this is the place to go!

Got crispy chicken ramen with added egg, and the punch drink. Chicken was delicious but wish the meat portion was bigger for the price. The broth was amazing and the cabbage had a perfected texture. The drink was a good sized drink and it did take a bit for the food to arrive but that’s to be expected when a restaurant is busy and also new. Would have got crab Rangoon if it wasn’t too expensive. Definitely will be back

Food was already for being the only ramen shop in Wausau. Service was slow. It took over an hour for my food to get out. My food seemed to have come out slower then the guests after me. Apparently sitting at the bar gets you served faster. I was a solo and had one bowl of Char Sui Ramen. I seemed to be the lucky one though as I was the last person during the lunch hour that got the last Char Sui pork. I heard the waiter apologize to a few customers next to me.

The noodles were good, the broth was savory, and the presentation was appetizing. The ramen egg was pretty much a split hard boiled soy egg, needs to be slightly runny. The Char Sui wasn't as tasty as I thought. It had a plastic smell, not sure what else that would have been.

They have no signs so you don't know whether to seat yourself or if they will. They only had one waiter, so that might explain the wait times.

Definitely need to try more of the menu but next time will plan for a 2 hour window to be served.

Went last Saturday when we came in didn't know where to sit only way we knew was a line standing upstairs. Took a bit to get seated we got our order of drinks but then we sat for a whole hour with no one to take our order. I know they were just opened for the 2nd day I tried to be reasonable but we ended up hunting down another waitress to just pay for our drinks, she ask if we would want to take our order and apologized which was nice of her but we also noticed people around us were taking a long time to get just there appetizers not even there actual meal so we just told her no and left. Noticed our waiter was all over the place mostly hiding in back cleaning silverware and would only come out every once in a while to give people their bill or sit people down and also ordered food at two different tables and those people sat down long after us and we got forgotten by him. So unfortunately we ended up not getting to try the food, wish we did it looked good maybe in a month or 2 when they get more stable at running their restaurant I'll come back to try it.

Seating didn't not take long for us, however, we waited an hour and half only to get an order of appetizers, we were still waiting for our dinner until we decided to leave. There were customers who ordered after us and they had their meals before us. Many customers waited to be greeted and seated but ended up leaving. They were very unorganized. Hoping to give them another try in a few months when they have everything worked out.

The wait for a take out order was a bit longer than estimated, approximately 10-15 mins. Definitely worth the wait though. The kimchi ramen did not disappoint. It was spicy and flavorful. I love ramen and I have been thrilled for this place to open up.. I walked in on a sat during lunch was told would be a while for food which was ok with… got sat right away servers were very attentive and friendly… I ordered 3 things takoyaki, the pork bun and the Niku soba. First got the takoyaki not to long after was good but a lil cold but not the worst especially since brand new place… then got the pork bun a little after that that was so good super flavorful and so soft… then came the ramen the main event… I will say for being in the middle of central Wisconsin it was phenomenal soooo delish the broth was flavorful and ingredients worked well and especially on a cold day as it was super soothing and delicious I will definitely be back

Wait time to sit down was 15 minutes, but the place wasn't even full/packed, plenty of empty tables.
Food took almost 2 hours to get to our table.
Our appetizers came out with our meal.
So the appetizers was cold. Our ramen/meal wasn't even hot/warm, more like room temperature.
Got kimchi ramen, broth was good but the noodles tasted plain. The noodles didn't capture/hold any flavors.

The food was amazing. Donburi is 100% my new favorite meal. We tried the Char Siu Donburi, Nika Soba Ramen, Takoyaki, Beef Fried Rice, and Crab Rangoon. Everything was perfectly done and packed with flavor. We will for sure be returning.
Make sure to go up the ramp and then wait to be seated - they could definitely use signs for this. We saw some people lingering downstairs and we saw some just take seats at a table someone just left and then were waiting forever to be served because they didn’t realize they were a new group to just seat themselves.
As most people said, there is a bit of a wait due to not enough servers. But they also literally just opened on Jan 3rd., so that’s not to be unexpected. The waiters hustled but the customer volume definitely outweighed the number of workers.
The price is more than fair for the amount and quality of food. Just have patience during their opening time and order to-go for pickup if you’re in a rush.

Food: Wish the pork bun meat was softer. Takoyaki was cut in half, and wished they were crispier. Ramen broth was good.
Service: Could use more waiters. We waited a little bit longer then what we wanted too. Need a sign to tell customers to walk up the ramp for a table.
Atmosphere: Good! Not to loud, with great choice of American music.

We are so excited to have ramen in Wausau! We went on opening night, so there were a few hiccups with timing. We had to wait a while to be seated but they told us that up front. We had a table of 4 adults and 4 small children. Everyone LOVED their food and it was well worth the wait. Can't wait to come back after they work out a few minor issues that any new business would have on opening day.

We were one of the last people to be served on their opening night.

From the front door to getting our bill, the service was great Everyone was very kind and we have absolutely nothing bad to say about the staff.

The atmosphere was very welcoming and cozy. The decor was great with classical looking Japanese paintings featuring ramen dishes.

As for the food, absolutely superb! The portions were appropriate for the price, which was also very reasonable. The flavors were incredible. We got the Niku Soba and Teriyaki Ton ramen. The Niku Soba had an incredible broth that was definitely comforting. The Teriyaki Ton had a very nice little kick of heat to it that was pleasant on the palate.

This is definitely going to become one of our go-to date nights in Wausau.

Great job on your opening night Oishii Ramen!

I LOVED the food. It was great!!! I came here opening day, so the service was pretty rocky. I understand that it can be very chaotic on an opening day. There were lots of people there! I got the shrimp shumai, grilled scallop, crispy chicken ramen, and salmon fried rice. Everything tasted GREAT!!!! Sorry for the lower quality pictures, I kept forgetting to take a picture before eating, so some things may not be accurate to how I received the food. I would highly recommend this place and im definitely coming back! 😁😁😁

The place is beautiful and the food was delicious. The service though was terrible. It took us roughly 45 minutes to receive our appetizers and over an hour to get our food. My boyfriend’s food was brought out 10-15 minutes before mine for some reason as well, so we barely got to eat our meals together. They forgot part of our order, and then still wanted to charge for it. We witness numerous tables getting impatient with wait times over an hour, and other tables that were done eating waiting 20 minutes for their check. We only saw the man that took our order 1 time and it was to take our order, nobody ever came back to the table to check on us, or to get refills on drinks which were needed but never received. He didn’t even come to bring us the check, a different waitress grabbed it for us. The food is great but I’d suggest waiting to try it out until they get a little more used to the new workplace.
