We can’t say enough wonderful things about this venue ! Our wedding day was everything we hoped for and more. The food was absolutely incredible—our guests are still raving about how delicious everything was.

The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. When our bakery was late, they didn’t hesitate to step in and offer to bring out their own cookies .That level of care truly blew us away.

Brittany was fantastic—she was responsive, patient, and so hands-on in making the whole experience stress-free and enjoyable. From start to finish, we felt supported and genuinely cared for.

We’re so grateful to Old Hickory Golf club for helping make our wedding day so memorable. We would wholeheartedly recommend them to any couple looking for a beautiful venue with amazing food and a staff that truly goes the extra mile!

HIRE A PRO. No one takes initiative. Had called and booked a tee time for an early AM round. Drive 45 minutes only for some other guy opening the course the next day to tell me “we don’t even have you down for a tee time but we have an outing with a shotgun start in an hour so you’d have to be off the course by then” didn’t comp us a round or even 9 holes. Just basically in shorter terms said “kick rocks”

I have nothing but amazing things to say about Old Hickory, the whole staff and especially Brittany and her team! Our wedding was the most perfect day and Brittany and her team were seriously amazing. They were so accommodating to everything, always having cold water for us and just being awesome. Had a wonderful experience playing here on Fathers Day. The staff were friendly, the food was great, and the course was in excellent condition! It was a challenging course (in a good way) which forced me to use every club in my bag. Beverage carts came around every couple holes, which was great because it was a hot, humid day. The golf course itself offers an interesting layout with some enjoyable and challenging holes. However, my overall experience was significantly marred by the treatment our group received from staff, particularly regarding pace of play.

We arrived for our tee time at 2:50 pm, but due to the group ahead running behind, we couldn't tee off until approximately 3:05 pm. While delays happen and are understandable, our frustrations began when, around hole 6, a course marshal approached to inform us that we were behind pace and should allow the group behind us to pass if they caught up. We explained our delayed start and pointed out that the group behind us had not yet meaningfully caught up.

By hole 9, we had actually increased our pace sufficiently that we couldn't even see the group behind us. Despite this clear evidence, as we made the turn, a clubhouse staff member confronted us aggressively about our pace, claiming we were delaying "fifteen groups." This claim was demonstrably false as the group behind us wasn't even visible on the previous hole. The conversation was unnecessarily confrontational, lasting a couple of minutes, yet still, no group behind us was in sight.

Feeling pressured, we reluctantly rushed through the back nine, significantly reducing the enjoyment of our round. By the 15th tee, we observed the group behind us just reaching hole 12, confirming again that we had not slowed anyone's play.

At the end of the round, our cart inaccurately indicated a 5-hour playtime despite finishing at 6:50 pm—well within an acceptable pace given our late tee-off. We brought this discrepancy and the earlier treatment to the clubhouse's attention. Unfortunately, we received no genuine apology or explanation. Instead, we were merely told that the members behind us were "just being assholes," leaving us feeling dismissed and unwelcome.

Based on this experience, it seems the course either caters preferentially to its members or suffers from staff incompetence—or possibly both. There are several other welcoming and enjoyable golf courses within a 30-minute drive. I regret spending a beautiful day driving 40 minutes only to have such a negative experience. I would not recommend this course unless no other options are available, and I will actively discourage my friends and acquaintances from playing here.

The course is beautiful. The team in the clubhouse are okay at best, unfortunately. Golfed Friday and it took forever to try and pay.

Then set a t time for Sunday with the guys there. I called Saturday to cancel the time as we can't make it, and they could not find it! Thank God we had to cancel, as I would really have been mad that they didn't have a t time for us to go out.

I pray you get better. 🙏. I do love the course though.

Not for a day or for the passer-by. This course has some curves you just got to feel. Its super playable for an agressive golfer and yet totally ok for a companion round. The hospitality made this a 5 star but if you pull up w out calling, why are you in our beatiful state!?

I knew right away what this experience was going to be like as soon as I saw that joke of a driving range. Worst kept shoddy range I ever saw in my life. Wife and I walked into the pro shop to check in. The Pro/Manager told us there weren't enough carts and to come back for one 10 minutes before our tee time. I was surprised and asked why only to be told that due to having "golfnow" people they are "too" busy. He then said that he would have to revisit the coupon idea. Wow... Ok.. The overall condition of the course was lousy! Thousand of unreplaced divots.. unmanicured bunkers.. crazy zigzagging layout.. unappealing altogether! It's a scam.. don't go there!!

Nice naturistic golf course with some challenging greens. Very established trees and woods. Few challenging dogleg fairways and fair number of elevated tee boxes. Loved the electric gps carts; just wish gps could've been programmed with relative pin area. A few fairways also were a little rough in spots....but this is like north woods area too. Greens were in great shape....hard and fast. Ok little pro shop and decent patio area. Rates were pretty good for this course.....which you can find a lot of deals out there to keep coming back. Would definitely play again.

Fun course with nice hole layouts that will challenge the average golfer, most of the tee-boxes are in good condition but some could be re-leveled. The carts are great with an on board navigation and distance displays to the hole or from any spot on the hole. Even showing other carts that might be in the way on "Blind Shots". The clubhouse and banquet hall are superb with a nice bar all on the main level and a proshop downstairs. Overall this is a nice course that was fully enjoyed by all and will definitely be golfed again!

What a hidden gem of a course. I have had this course on my list to play for a couple of years and finally got the chance to play it. While it is an hour drive from the valley, it is worth it. The course has rolling hills, tree lined fairways, flat greens, elevated greens, sand traps, and some water. If your looking for a new place to try, I highly recommend this place. It will definitely challenge your shot making and I recommend accuracy over distance.

Old Hickory is a wonderful old (100 yr+) course. It has challenging approach shots and sloping, fast greens. The holes are generally tree lined with huge old trees. The 7th is a picturesque par 3 with a tee shot over water. They keep the course in great shape. Old Hickory is a great value, not expensive given the quality of the course. And there is a GPS system in the carts. Highly recommended!

Nice course. The condition is excellent. Well kept. Challenging for sure. Free bottles of water on some holes (but no water on the beer cart?) Clean restaurant and nice pro shop.

The pace on weekends is way too slow. The course is packed more full than an infants diaper. It shouldn't take 5.5 hours for 18 holes. If play was faster, this would be 5 stars all the way.

Next time I have a day off during the week, I'll go back. I think it would be very enjoyable at a reasonable pace.

Beautiful course but so challenging. This course has so many hills and difficult greens. A lot of greens are elevated and have lots of slopes, making the short game extremely difficult. The course if obviously old, with many mature trees, which make it stunning. Some water on the course, hole 7 is a shot over a pond. I would and will play again!

So disappointed in the food. We used to go here regularly before the new owners. Haven’t been since Winter, before the pandemic. We were excited to try the food after not having been in a while. Well we were very disappointed!! We sat down and waited 20 mins before our sever came over. Asked for a drink menu and they did not have one. I asked what kind of red wine they have and she said “Merlot, Cabernet, Pinot noir”. For the prices and atmosphere of this place you’d think the server could give some idea of their wine selection. But nope. I just order Pinot noir not knowing what kind and how much it was going to cost ($9/glass and not very good BTW).

I had the cedar plank salmon which was mediocre. It had a sweet chili sauce that clearly came from a jar. I did not want a starch so I order double asparagus which ended up being a pretty small serving for a double order. I paid $22 for the salmon and I could have made it at home cheaper and better.

One person in our party got tater tots with their fish. You’d think with the prices they’d had fresh made tater tots. Nope, just plain old tater tots that again, we could have made at home from a bag. Someone else in our party got fries. Again, boring frozen fries. I like the seasoned fries they used to have. I asked our server how the Mac n cheese was prepared (baked, etc). She said she had no idea. The Mac n cheese was awful. I got a to go order for our daughter that got off of work later. It had a super odd taste like truffle oil?? I have no clue as the menu did not describe it and the server couldn’t say.

Overall we paid $95 for 3 people. We should have eaten at Culvers. Will not be going back any time soon.

Really disappointed 2nd time in a row. Don't eat here if you have a small party and don't want to wait an hour for your food. They will serve larger parties first and you will wait a long time if you come with only 2 people. Large group of golfers smoking by the entrance and almost got run over by a couple golfers driving recklessly in their cart. This place use to be good. Will stay away for a long time.

Our group of 12 drove up from Madison to play as we do each summer. Good value and worth the drive to play this 100 year old classic parkland style course. In the past 10 years the course was in the best condition I have played. Greens were true and quick. fairways and rough well maintained. Sand traps could use work as a number had snirt (dirt and sand mixture). However we saw a crew adding sand and re-digging the edges on several traps so I will give them the benefit of the doubt that others will be fixed soon.
