I had a large cucumber Margarita.... absolutely huge!! It was with real pieces of cucumber and so good! The chicken in my fajita salad was really tender. The workers came to our table immediately with chips, salsa, and made guacamole to our liking right in front of us. We all were very pleased with everything.

First time eating here in August and it was very disappointing. The restaurant was pretty much empty which probably should have been a warning sign. I don't know if the server was inexperienced or what the situation was, but a number of people got food before drinks (including water). Service was very slow. We had a group of 8 people and some people got drinks right away. Some waited forever. Food came out at different times (our fajitas came out sizzling but we had no tortillas, guac, sour cream, or even plates - didn't get those items for probably 10 minutes). Just very strange. The "Fajitas for 2" would have been a single serving at most other restaurants. They also charge for extra chips which is a pet peeve of mine at Mexican restaurants. I understand it's Door County, and maybe they can get away with poor service and over priced food, but I certainly won't be returning.

We loved the atmosphere here, fun place to eat. My only regret is not getting the fresh guacamole! They make it right at your table. I didn’t realize this until after our food got there. This was my fault, not the server as they offered guacamole. Food was good, we are used to the more southern Mexican restaurants.

We have been coming here for years and enjoying it.
This place is terrible, don’t waste your time and money, go to Gloria’s .
We called for a carry out on Wednesday,
my wife went in to pick it up and the guacamole container kept opening up, so the manager taped it up.My wife noticed the size of the order was very small compared to what we use to get, meanwhile the price stayed the same at $7.00. The response from the woman manger said maybe they used a small guacamole, REALLY!!!!!
We left and got home:
The food was cold
The bag of chips were stale
The chile relleno had no taste
My wife was livid,I said just forget it,
She took the bag of chips and drove back to the restaurant with her sore leg and talked to
The same manager and told her about all the problems we had with this order.
She credited us back our money for the whole order and gave her a new bag of warm
Chips.
Got home , had to reheat everything and tasted the new chips which were warm and stale.
Threw out most of the food, because it Sucked and we were both pissed.
Forgot, my wife was trying to call the restaurant about the stale chips before she left, nobody answered the phone , it was about 7:45pm.. They are open till 9
She mentioned this to the manager and the
Response was”we are closing early tonight,problems in the kitchen”.
Meanwhile there were about six people in this huge place , waitstaff were hanging out in the back doing nothing.

We finally found good Tex-Mex in Wisconsin. Margaritas, queso, and guacamole were excellent. The Old Mexico bowl with grilled chicken was very good, as were the enchiladas. We will be back next summer when in Stugwon Bay again!

Delicious food! Choriqueso Dip was my favorite. But prices are high, we ended up spending $100 for two drinks, the dip, and two meals and the 18% fee charged for serving a group of six. Which is fine but we would have appreciated to be notified before serving us and not just simply add the fee in the bill.

We got charged $3 for requesting extra tortillas, for the pricing I think that was unnecessary but other than that, drinks and food was delicious.

I think our service could have been better. I had asked our server if they had chimichanga because I didn’t see them on the menu, all she said was ok and I had to find it myself. Which was very hard to find on the menu. She also did not check on us, which my drink was empty, so o could have used a refill. The food was good, but the chicken for the chicken chimichanga was very dry. The chips were stale for the salsa and chips, we did enjoy the queso. I think that the kids drinks should be included with the kids food if they are ordering off the kids menu.

We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. The table side guacamole is great! My husband had the lunch chicken fajitas and I had the street tacos. Both were excellent choices. I actually shared a taco with my husband and I brought a taco home. The service was efficient and everyone was friendly. The menu has something for everyone and I know from past experience the margaritas really hit the spot.

This place begs you to leave a review, so I shall. This place was awful.

We arrived at 1:45 on a week-day for a late lunch. We were seated and given menus and customary chips/salsa, perhaps 5-6 minutes later we ordered a large order of guac which was made table side. We had a 3-week old who had a "blowout" so his mother slipped to the bathroom to change him. By this time, it was 2:10. We asked to order and proceeded to order off the lunch menu. The waitress, (Odalys), snippily told us that lunch hour was past and after two we'd have to order from the dnner menu. I noted we had ordered an appetizer and were seated well before 2:00 p.m. She persisted. I persisted. Finally asked to see a manager who FINALLY relented. Had he not, I would have walked out -- its ridiculous.

I ordered lunch fajitas. 3 of the 4 other adults ordered off the lunch menu. We had plowed through about half our basket of chips/salsa (serving five people) while waiting for the guac. We were told that there would be a charge for more chips. Wait, what? We paid TEN BUCKS for guacamole and they can't provide additional chips without sticking it to us?

My entree came out first. First, three small (bigger than street taco/smaller than regular sized) cold tortillas. Then a plate of barely warm/dry chicken (obviously had been sitting) with onions/tomatoes (I requested no peppers) with beans and rice. I eat fajitas all the time and it ALWAYS comes with lettuse, sour cream, cheese and salsa. Not here it doesn't. You get the chicken/onions and 3 (don't ask for more) tortillas. It came with refried beans -- they were fine, but how do you wreck refried beans. It also came with Spanish rice. I took a bite and it tasted like it had cigarette ashes in it. By this time, the other entrees had finally arrived. I asked them to take a taste of their rice and we all agreed that it tasted "ashy". We finally decided it had been sitting and burned giving it that "special flavor".

Our drinks were empty and we kept waiting for Odalys to come check on us. She was standing in the back talking with FOUR other bored wait staff. (We could see them.). We tried to flag down two of them when they walked by and they literally did not respond at all though they had to hear us. We were the ONLY people in the restaurant. Finally, Odalys came and we asked her for refills. She didn't ask how the food was. We had to trade out a sour ice tea for a different drink. That was the last we saw of her until she brought the check. No more refills for us.

She laid the card machine on the table and walked away. I paid the $100 (for 5 people for lunch) bill and wanted a receipt. She never came back so I had to go get the manager, give him the machine and ask for a receipt. The manager seemed fine, but his staff could not have cared less.

We went to the bathroom and there were FOUR signs taped to the walls asking for a review. So here you go! Don't waste your time. You'd get better food with better service for a cheaper price at a dump like Taco Bell.

I am changing my review from 5 stars to 2. The last few times we have been in it has been a terrible experience with the last one being so bad, we won't be returning. We waited a very long time to even be acknowledged at the door (this happens every time we go, even if the bartender is at the bar serving no one). We had to ask for our drinks when they brought the food out, and my molcajete- which is $40- came out ice cold. I would have complained but we never saw anyone at the table again. We had to go to the front to get our check and we had to flag someone else down for a box for my son's food. There were plenty of staff, including our server (which we did see again, just never at our table), and there were only 6 tables with patrons at them. It was not busy there was no excuse for the poor service and even poorer food. Go to Glorias instead. Their molcajete is only $33, it was hot, and tasted AMAZING!

Watered Down

It pains me to reduce my rating of this restaurant. Old Mexico has been steadily going down hill over the past few years. I'm the kind of patron who enjoys tipping at a rate of 20 percent plus.

My last takeout meal here was far from top shelf quality enduring a substantial price increase that no longer makes it worth our drive. Dine in service has become mediocre at best. Because of this lack of good Mexican food in the area, we have taken it upon ourselves to cook better food at home. I get it, times have changed, but my salary increases no longer match the price increases at some of my favorite restaurants. The favored queso is often as thin as water. The enchiladas lack flavor and bland is the best way to describe them in 2025. The Mexican rice is okay at best and the beans are nothing more than another watered down filler. The robust flavor our tastebuds use to crave here are now met with menu items that taste like they've been watered down. I've seen far too many restaurants fail when they increase prices and sacrifice quality or trim portions. There must be balance because it's the regulars who keep local restaurants afloat during the winter months or slow economic times. I'm not so sure we'll give this place another chance for quite some time because better options are available.

Great place to go on the weekends. Busy during tourist season so expect a little bit of a wait to be seated. Good food usually fresh, but not so great sometimes during slow times during the week. The freshly made guacamole in front of you is fun to watch and good. Same menu platform as many other Mexican restaurants throughout the country. Very large inside so don't let the packed parking lot fool you. Great service with familiar faced servers.

It was our first visit and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and very tasty. The portion size was generous. This really isn't a complaint because their service was good. However our waitress failed to tell us that they had daily food and drink specials, which we discovered as we were leaving. They have a sign posted adjacent to their entry door, but it was partially blocked by snow flake decorations that were still in the windows from Christmas.

Dinner for 2, both ordered Enchiladas. No special requests. One red, the other green. Red had steak, green was carnitas. Both came out on piping hot plates with warm (not hot) rice and beans. Both were barely sauced. Meat filling was exactly what you would get on a steak or carnitas taco. Dry burrito style. No enchilada sauce mixed in, no extras. Topped with the slightest spoonful of sauce drizzled across and a small sprinkle of melted cheese. Both the red steak and green carnitas. Everybody knows to judge a Mexican place on their enchiladas.

Had a large group of about 20. Best fish tacos I’ve had. Service COULD have been better with the tables being ready, drink orders being taken more often, and napkins being available, but the service wasn’t terrible. Food came out super quick for the amount of people we had. They did call out the dish that was ordered for the person to claim- but they gave it to the person after they said it was theirs. A meal that was complained about I did see them correct; however, the person’s meal the second time was not to their standard again. Someone else may have also had an issue, but I didn’t notice. We danced and never slipped on floors- and they did have a wet floor sign out in the chance they were. The bills were mixed up at the end after everyone even sorted out the receipts and handed it back with their card. It was stressful then trying to figure out who has to pay who, but they did do a reversal on some peoples cards (&others corrected it between themselves) and made it right, but that never should have had to happen in the first place where we had to correct it ourselves and spend an extra 20minutes after we had it right in the beginning. They could have not charged the 18% gratuity to everyone’s checks due to the service not being the greatest for some people and just letting them tip what they wish in this circumstance, but the servers were overall nice and the food was good.

We had a large party and a reservation called in several weeks prior and they were not prepared for us. We had to wait for our table to be set up, and sit down. The floors were slippery and greasy, and we were sliding around and having difficulty walking. After that we had to go to the bar to get our own menus, go to the bar to get our own waters, ask several times for straws, and hand down our silverware rather than being served. They took the orders and food came quickly, however, they had to call out the order for the person to claim it and then we passed it down. Meals were incorrect, missing things, and one meal was undercooked. The beef was still raw. When we notified the server he asked, "So are you complaining?" And never resolved the issue. The person was not able to eat their food.

Billing was disorganized and meals, drinks, and sides were mixed up. People who paid cards had the wrong orders charged to their cards and they were unwilling to correct the issue. We resolved it by having someone pay the remaining bill, which wasn't theirs, and we worked the difference out between ourselves. When asked to correct the bills, the only answer we were given was, "Someone needs to pay the bill." It was disappointing for our special occasion.

If you want authentic Mexican food then this is the place for you. With a charming atmosphere, this restaurant is very relaxed, and the waitstaff was both friendly and helpful. The chips and salsa were delicious while their homemade hot salsa had a great kick to it. My husband had the chicken fajitas and they were both savory and plentiful. My daughter ordered the mucho nachos and was barely able to eat half of them. The homemade guacamole was scrumptious! My son and I both had the chicken burritos and we were able to get them made exactly how we like them. The only downfall was that they were out of sour cream. Though it was a little pricey it was still comparable to other restaurants in town. We would definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re look for authentic Mexican food.

The food was just awful, plates were not hot, rice was crunchy and servers struggled with English and didn't get our orders right. The guacamole cart girl was not friendly at all. She clearly did not want to be there. Very disappointing all around. They also automatically add an 18% gratuity onto the bill.

Nuestro mesero muy amable, pero hablemos de la comida: frijoles que pedimos fritos no estaban fritos y estaban rancios, los otros frijoles negros tenían una tonelada de sal, la carne asada fue solo un trozo de carne con mucha sal y no era asada solo cocida, el pollo se pidió asado y no estaba asado con tonladas de adobo muy salado tambien,, tacos de carne asada tampoco estaba buenos. Refusing to serve 19 and 20 year-olds who are out to eat with their parents is ridiculous. I’ve been served beer here before, but our server today refused to do so. It’s well known that you can drink in Wisconsin if you’re with your parents. Do better.

We stayed close by while visiting from out of town. We enjoyed the food so much that it was a unanimous decision to go back a second time. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone interested in authentic Mexican food. Excellent staff and even better food!

I am a man from western Oklahoma, I didn’t know I needed to come to Wisconsin to get a good Mexican meal. Best I ever had. Ordered the carnitas, chip, salsa, and guacamole made right in front of me. I highly recommend this place. Nice atmosphere and service too.

Called before arriving to confirm that they have gluten free options and the gentleman on the phone was very kind and confirmed that they can let the kitchen know about a food allergy. However, when we arrived and asked about the gluten free options, the wait staff looked at us in confusion.

The older gentleman with glasses who took our order was very rude and impatient. He hovered over one of us, tapping his pen, after we kindly told him twice that we need more time to review the menu. When we asked if we could substitute black beans instead of refried beans he had no idea what we were asking for and then angrily responded by saying it comes with "regular beans!".

The other wait staff were more friendly, but the service overall was not good. Chicken was barely seasoned. We've been to many authentic Mexican restaurants, but not a good experience for our first time here.

I paid 32 dollars for my meal on the tip line I had 0 on it I noticed they charged me 112.41 they added an 80 dollar tip to them self's. Called to try and resolve it staff was extremely rude. Staff messed up 3 out of our 9 orders we had to have an order put back on the grill for undercooked chicken. Would not recommend eating here can’t believe they get away with this highway robbery on a tip amount!

Service was great, very friendly staff. However, the food tasted plain to me , particularly the beans. Almost seemed like it was from the can and heated. I could be wrong but that was the taste I got. The flautas were pretty good and would get them again. I was surprised to have to pay extra for the spicy salsa and adding chicken to the flautas.

We had to wait half hour for food to arrive, and the quality of chicken fajitas was okay...it is just the wait that spoiled our mood, we lost our appetite because of that reason...people were nice and real apologetic but still they should tell the customers ahead of time if this much time we need to wait for food to come....so that we can go to some other place instead...

Food was ok. We ordered two sodas, they never brought them and charged them on the check. Obviously we asked them to remove them. My kids spilled water because the kid’s cup they have the lids are a bit loose. They just brought us a few napkins to clean the mess ourselves and the face of the lady wasn’t the happiest. I know kids are messy and you deal with this situations at restaurants. First time and our last.

Shout out to the staff. My wife and I walked in here one night after a long day of yard work and deciding not to cook. We walked in, and from getting sat to the service throughout, we had very friendly, attentive servers, and even the manager, and were met with great conversation! The food was phenomenal, and the taco options were fantastic. We also got a big bowl of chips and salsa to go with it. Honestly, I was pretty impressed for the price and the feel of the place. We will definitely be back!

We stopped in here for lunch on our way through Sturgeon Bay. Never heard of the place but I'm glad we stopped. The atmosphere is beautiful, with unique artwork and decor. The staff was very accommodating. And the food was excellent. The chicken in the enchiladas, as well as the beef and pork in the street tacos, were juicy and tender, likely being slow cooked.

We will certainly be back, and I'm thrilled to see there's also one in Suamico!

I always get the same thing Pollo Ranchero. It's delicious. The prices for their drinks and beers are outrageous though. it is one of the best places in Sturgeon Bay to get Mexican food.
