A Hometown Gem!!! Olde Madrid never disappoints - The menu is loaded with wonderful shareable options, all fresh home cooked and something for everyone!!! Tonight we had the Stew, Matador Paella, Madrid Salad, and Diablo Chicken and of course shared a pitcher of Sangria!!! The staff and service are top notch. At peak times there may be a wait, but its definitely worth it!!! BRAVO

This little place is cozy, friendly staffs, and good food.
We got there just 20mins before their closing time but they still greeted us in and we ordered gumbo(their signature), beef skewer, and empanada and all were super good. I felt like i was in spain, very authentic taste and flavors. Im planning another trip just to try out more of their menus. Oh, i live near chicago and drive is about little over an hour.

I absolutely love the food here, but as soon as you walk in the door it smells like Hispanic bathroom cleaner…STRONGLY. I have been here four times because the food is absolutely excellent, this was the worst. We got seated by a door they kept opening that must have an open vat of cleaner behind. We taste with our nose right? It’s basic, a restaurant should smell like food. My companion was getting a headache from the smell and I got an irritated scratchy throat.

This review is just for a takeout salad! It was the chicken salad with grapes and it was perfect! I have eaten here before and enjoyed it but I was in the area and wanted a salad. My husband and I went out for a midweek date night. I am thankful I read reviews because this place did not disappoint. We had the seafood gumbo carne empanadas and the paella. Everything was delicious. The Mariana sauce was so good we asked for more bread to dip it in( the perfect spice). The gumbo is more lobster forward because of the broth but it is delicious you won’t regret it. You cannot get enough of both of these items. The paella is delicious and HUGE you can feed three people with this alone. It was so flavorful but it was huge so be prepared. I also had a gin martini and I am picky it was spot on refreshing and well balanced. Marco was our chef tonight and he did not disappoint. He and Maria ensure that we will be returning. I plan on coming for my birthday with a bigger party. Thanks to reading reviews to highlight this gem of an establishment.

The wait time almost makes this place not worth going to. My friends and I waited over an hour for a party of 4 to be seated. When we were seated the male waiter we had for got we were seated and didn't come back to our table to get drink orders for more than 20 minutes. Lastly, he forgot to put in the side I ordered and I ended taking it to-go and never ate it. Historically, this place has been good, but after thus experience, not sure if I'm returning.

My husband and I wanted to try something different, so we gave this restaurant a try. My dish was perfect. It smelled good, it looked good, and most importantly, it tasted good. You get so much for your money. I got the Maria's Beef Stew. My husband got a rotisserie chicken dish that he wasn't impressed with. He felt the chicken was dry. Aside from his dissatisfaction, he would be willing to come back again but order something different.

First, we waited 1.5 hours for a table. I ordered a mushroom dish and the brussel sprots. The food was not as great as I thought. The brussel sprots were hard and under cooked, my mushroom and spinach epanandas were good. Everyone was happy with their steak dishes but complained the artichoke dip was too cheesy but good.
As soon as I got in the car my stomach beginnt to feel funny and I became hot. I realized that there was either something wrong with the mushrooms or the food had been cross contaminated (maybe with meat). I was sick when ai got home but felt better after everything was out of my body. I took an activated charcoal. No one else had an issue but I am the only one in the group that does not eat meat. I will not be back to this place.

This place was seriously great!! Ordered the almond meatballs, empanadas, portobello sandwich and chicken salad sandwich. ALL WERE VERY VERY GOOD. Food is well seasoned, all very fresh. Empanadas especially stuck out to me because they tasted fresh fried and made with love. Saw people walking in the restaurant with fresh ingredients they just bought. This is a place I frequent quite a bit usually for dinner. I met up with a friend for lunch here and we ordered the Maria’s beef stew, gluten-free, almond meatballs, tangerine olives,papas romeras, and muscles à la Catalina. I was a little bit disappointed this time around with the items that we ordered. The stew was a little bit bland and needed salt and other flavor. It was not as savory as it typically is. This is sometimes an issue that I find with this restaurant. The food can be inconsistent. The almond meatballs were very tasty. We ordered those gluten-free. We also had the tangerine olives. I did not like the olives they had a bitter taste from what I am assuming was the rind of the tangerines. It was also listed as a cold item and it came hot so I was a little off put by that. The potatoes were my favorite thing that we ordered. They were cooked very well nice and crispy and well drained of oil. The muscles were cooked well, but the sauce that it came in was very different than I had ever tasted it. It was a dark caramel color and it was overwhelmingly sweet.

The seafood bisque soup was so good. It had a sweet, kind flavor. Our meatball dish was flavorful with an awesome sause that begged us to order more bread to lap up all the flavors. The scallop dish had a delightful white sause and lots of noodles. Again, the bread was used to gather up all the flavorful tastes of the sause.

I will never eat at this establishment again. I ordered a skirt steak sandwich half the meat was pink and now I've been sick since eating there. I've experienced stomach pain and vomiting. Also the young guy at the counter was too busy monkeying around with the young lady and cursing, when I went in to pick up my order and got forgot to give me back my credit card. So I had to leave from work to go all the way back downtown to grab it after he suggested he could bring it to my job. It was completely unprofessional and clownish behavior and for that reason and the food I will never go back.

We only had 4 dishes, but I was quite impressed with the portion sizes. In Spain and other tapas places, you get a small plate of it so you can order many more dishes than you could here unless you have a very large group (or big eaters). The calamari was only the rings and too chewy like they needed to be cooked longer. The asparagus was pretty good, but I don’t like charred flavor, but that’s a personal thing. I don’t eat meat, so I was hoping there were more cheap small plate options. The 2 cheese and fruit plates were good, but I was not expecting the one to be in a dip form. In Spain it’s melted on the individual piece of bread with a slice of pear on top and drizzle of honey. This was a dip and fruit was sliced on the side. Still delicious but not what I thought it was going to be. The paella looked authentic and delicious, but we didn’t get it, so if I come back to town will make sure to try it.

The food was fantastic, the almond meatball was one of the best tasting dishes I have ever had. 3 plates is more than enough for 2 people and with drinks the tab was around $50.

The service was lacking. I would rate the service below average. I had to flag down our waitress for waters and then my wife ended up bringing our empty plates to the bar due to the waitress not stopping by. It wasn’t busy either, most of the staff was chatting at the bar instead of checking on tables. Food was really good tho.

Don't ever order a salad here from a waitress with an accent who was unfortunately our waitress on Tuesday Aug 6 2024 they give a half a teaspoon on the Barcelona salad the chicken on it was dry as a bone. I asked our LAME waitress for more dressing she sent a busboy with a HALF container, I asked her for a double container and she stood behind the bar and stared ,waited on other tables and waited 20 minutes to bring me the dressing. We got the Matador Paella (I asked for it extra crispy) and it was absolutely fantastic!! Closest I've had to authentic paella since coming back from living in Spain. Tasted just like one I had in Valencia! I was really impressed.
It's not all authentic Spanish dishes/tapas, but that's quite hard to come by because Americans don't really like authentic Spanish cuisine. With that being said, we had the asparagus, baked goat cheese, and spinach and cheese empanadas and all were delicious.

When we lived in Racine we would come to Olde Madrid monthly - it was so good. Since moving away, we still try to make it back at least once a year. We just went again and to no surprise they are just as good, if not better than they have always been! It's the perfect double date place because you can order a bunch and split all the small plates to try a bit of everything! Our favorites were the Duck Croquettes with the apple chutney, the Almond Meatballs the Papas Romeras (potatoes) and the Almond Crusted Cod....but honestly we haven't had a single thing here we didn't love! I've heard a lot of great things about this restaurant so we tried it out last night. Service was fantastic and our waiter was great. My food was just okay though there was nothing specifically wrong with it. I was a little surprised at the limited menu. Others in our group seem to enjoy their food okay but it was nothing that stood out for any of us. What was odd is that we had a group of six but two of our plates took 25 minutes to prepare because the food had the simmer. They brought out three dishes right away and then the other two when they were finished, a half hour later. My understanding is that they should have brought out all dishes at the same time so the group can eat together.

One of our favorite places to eat and the food is always amazing but this last time the service was just absolutely horrible. Took forever to get drinks, drink refills were never offered, we asked for boxes twice before we finally got them, the dirty dishes were never cleared while we finished our drinks, and lastly she asked us if we needed change from the bill, we said yes, and she never brought it…

The shame in it all is yes they were busy but we could see the server standing behind the bar chatting or working extremely slowly.

We will be having take out only from now on which is a shame…

Absolutely terrible service. We had a 45 minute wait and front house took our #. No call happened so we walked back. They wrote down the wrong # and stated we now have another hour wait. Manager did nothing to help and was extremely rude and unprofessional. Would never try and go back

Your mouth will explode with all the wonderful foods you will find here. The paella was perfect for 2-3 people. The salmon dishes were perfect. Oh, and try the gumbo. The gum was not what I was expecting, it was better. The restaurant is small and very old world cozy. As a bigger group of 12 we had to break up into two tables. But, the staff was super accommodating. Had a great time. Would happily go again.

Wow what happend to Olde Madrid? This used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Racine. The prices are horrible. What used to cost the two us $40.00 is now over $60.00 and that's without tax and tip. Also the last time we were there the food was over cooked and and not as good as it used to be, again WAY OVER PRICED. We wanted to take our son and his wife to Olde Madrid for his birthday but we told him that the prices are way to high for the food you get. Sadly we will not go back to Olde Madrid again The prices are just way to high for the little food you get.

The bread they brought to the table seemed a bit stale and the presentation could have been better. I had a seafood bisque soup, which was very salty and unfortunate for me, the seafood swam away before it arrived at my table.
Also had Almond Crusted Cod, which I think that the cook smashed it open just to make sure it was cooked. Don't get me wrong, I am glad that it was cooked through, but I have had other fish fry's, and the pieces of fish were unbroken and cooked through. Additionally, the server never asked how everything was either.

This is one of my favorite eateries, especially because its family owned. Had the Seafood Gumbo, which is like no other! Jumbo shrimp on the sides, chorizo, chicken and sausage, in a delicious lobster sauce, and topped with avocado. I had it several years ago and again today and it did not disappoint. We also had the Baked Goat Cheese, and it was just as tasty. Toshya our server was also awesome, providing outstanding customer service. Thank you!😊

We had a party of 9 and each of us tried something different. Everything was great, seasoned well and the portions were sufficient. If you order the paella, there is enough for 4 people. Especially if you order tapas.
