I first heard about Oscar’s while reading an article on Milwaukee’s frozen custard scene, and I’m glad I gave it a try. For years Kopp’s has been my go-to, but Oscar’s has quickly won me over — it’s now my favorite frozen custard shop in the city.

The texture is what sets it apart: dense, thick, and creamy, exactly how custard should be. Their flavors of the day change daily, and the website makes it easy to check ahead. I usually get a three-scoop dish, and Oscar’s is also the best value of the big three — $4.15 compared to $6.00 at Kopp’s and $7.25 at Gilles. A neat tip: you can order a cone with your custard and ask for it in a dish — they’ll place the cone on top so you get the best of both worlds without the mess.

They also serve burgers and fries, and I tried a hamburger once. While decent, I still prefer the burgers at Kopp’s, so Oscar’s will remain my go-to spot for a frozen custard fix.

The West Allis location has plenty of parking and indoor seating. Service is fast and the staff are always super friendly. Between the price, texture, and flavor variety, Oscar’s has become my top custard stop in Milwaukee. Highly recommended.

If you're looking for a little spot for a treat, this was the perfect place. I was there during the lunch hour, and there were a lot of people eating inside, I did not have to wait to place my order. When I ordered, I asked for my custard in a cone to be placed upside down in a dish. I didn't think the gentleman heard me, but sure enough, my custard was exactly as I ordered. Great Service! I went outside to sit at a table underneath some trees. Although it was hot outside, I was able to feel the breeze, and no bugs bothered me. It was perfect.

Went to this location (West Allis) for the second time since the Waukesha location has been temporarily closed. I was highly dissapointed in the customer service. I was not greeted by anyone. I stood there waiting for the cashier to even turn around and notice me as making waffles cones were more important at the moment. When it finally came time for her to take my order she seemed annoyed. She did not listen and I had to repeat my order and I felt rushed. When it came time to pay, I wanted to pay half cash, half card. The cashier became more annoyed. Wouldn't even take the money out of my hand. Then I put my card in the reader and nothing happened until she said "what does it say on your side?" As it just read " REMOVE CARD " she gave me a look as to say " then take your card out!" Very rude. To end it all, there was no thank or have a good day. Just told me my number and sent me away and didn't even want to be the person to give me my food. I will not be returning any time soon.

Went for dinner with my family. Chicken was good for a cone and fry place. I ordered the chocolate banana shake and when I received it I noticed something was a bit different. I was shy to ask but once I did I was glad. Apparently, if you'd like fresh bananas in your shake, ask otherwise they use a different and quicker means which is less satisfying to a true fan like me. The manager quickly offered to make me a fresh shake with the fresh bananas. It was worth it. Thank you

Horrible burgers, tasted like they were boiled. French fries were ok. Had chocolate custard, it tasted much more like ice cream than rich custard from culvers or kopps. Also had a root beer float, horribly chemical and went flat and nasty after like 10 minutes. Prices aren't much different from kopps, I'd suggest going there instead its 5x better.

I work near here and go for custard or food once a week. Staff there are very friendly. Place gets busy during lunch time but they are quick with orders. I love the custard there. Prices are very good. My favorite things to get there are onion rings, grilled cheese, chicken tenders, fries and sloppy joes. For a meal and custard its under $15. Bathrooms are clean. Theres and indoor and outsoor seating area. I will keep coming here. Daily they have vanilla, chocolate and a flavor of the day. My favorite flavor of the day is pistacho 🙂. Best Custard in the US of A. Period. I’ve been going to this location of Oscars for the better part of 35 years and now living outside of WI, I make a pilgrimage back each time I’m in town. This past Black Friday after leaving Mayfair Mall, wanted to explore dinner venues outside and away from the mall and since I was craving a burger, Oscar's it was.

We live roughly a 50 mile drive south of here in northeastern Lake County IL but anytime we're a few miles north of the border, gotta take advantage of what we don't have down there.

Burgers + frozen custard is definitely popular in WI and are pretty limited in IL at least where we're at aside from Culver's. This place definitely put a smile on my face on our very first visit.

The burgers & custard definitely are a hit but the food overall is really good especially for the price. You won't find prices like this at a similar competitor anywhere in the flatland.

Venue boasts a great all-around menu with yummy grub and very friendly service in a clean and relatively spacious dining area. If ever up in the area again, now I have a new go-to spot for delicious burgers & custard.

We stopped by for dessert and the sundae was larger than expected. A ton of smooth custard and a decent amount of toppings, too, for the price. Not sure that I would have used a standard soft drink cup to hold it, though. The hot toppings melted the portion of custard they came in contact with and I had to go excavating to find the unmelted stuff somewhere in the middle of the cup.

The hamburger I had was cold to start with, but by the time I got to the middle, it was ICE cold!! I definitely did not eat the whole thing. I got a sundae to go, but I should've not had them put the lid on because half of the toppings stuck to it. I looked at the To-Go menu while I was eating my hamburger to figure out what I wanted for ice cream. Under sundaes, it just listed a few basic toppings, chocolate, strawberry, nuts, etc. It didn't list all the candy toppings, so when I went to the window and told them I wanted to shake(where all the candy toppings were listed) with Heath he asked I wanted a shake or a sundae. Well, the way it was listed, it didn't look like you could get the candy toppings on a sundae. I won't be going back again as this was my 2nd time and I remember the 1st time didn't go smoothly either. The help isn't very friendly to new customers not familiar with how things work.

Ate here a few times, food is good, but year round except for the cold weekends in winter, every Friday and Saturday night is nonstop engine revving and cars backfiring, I live behind this location and can't even enjoy my weekend nights because it is insanely loud. Most nights I have to leave home just to hear myself think. It's like a college party, young people gathering all over the parking lot, and it doesn't stop until midnight. West allis noise ordnance goes into effect at 10:00, but oscar's refuses to do anything and the police don't do anything because they own the bar down the block and it brings them business. Worst restaurant I have ever seen aside from the food, that's the only thing they do well. Horrible management that won't even let people relax after a long work week. Not a college party, it's a restaurant.

It is April PIZZA BURGER month!! I have always been in search of a great pizza burger since my teen years of a place in Muskego, and a place in Mayfair Mall near the old Ice skating rink. My husband and I went to Oscars on Sunday April 6, 2025. After my picked up my order my shake fell off the tray. I thought they were going to offer me another one but it didn’t happen. I was a manager at a fast food restaurant and when this same thing would happen to our customers we would offer them another one. I came here out of nostalgia, but was left disappointed. The food was so bad. We ordered burgers and fish, and it was gross. McDonald's would have been better. Plus they wanted to charge for refills. Who does that? And the atmosphere... Lots of people staring like they've never seen a brown family before. Very uncomfortable.
