Fun place! Big beer garden in the back to enjoy when the weather's nice.
Good selection of beers. As you would expect, several German options.
We had a delicious brat, homemade soup and a Ruben with bacon!

Nice little German bar in Minocqua. Lovely selection of German beers and food. The gentleman that was bartending was fun and interesting. We didn't eat there but the food I saw looked delicious. We will definitely go back next time we are in the area.

I've been coming here for over 20 years. I've never been more disappointed in the service, food, or been treated with such loud, rude, obnoxious attitude.
My Pork Schnitzel was beyond over cooked. I had to remind the waiter to bring my extra gravy (definitely needed).
Had to wait for beer refills; they never came!
Just threw the bill on the table without a word.
The current staff is extremely unprofessional. Our waiter looks disheveled and unkempt.
I DO NOT recommend stopping in here.

Came here on a Tuesday with two hungry kids in tow at dinner time. We were turned away by a sign on the door that said the kitchen was closed. My wife walked in and asked if the kitchen will be opened the next day and they said yes and explained that their cook quit that day. They said there were no special hours if we came the next day as my wife specifically asked that question. The next day we show up a tad late due to a hiking trip (6:50pm) we were turned away a 2nd time as they had just closed the grill. They offered no apology and seemed happy to turn us away. I had to put two kids hungry from hiking back into the car for the 2nd day in a row. Awful service. I would have been happy with just a pretzel. I will not try a third time to patronize this place. My wife and I have both worked in restaurants and both agree that the staff were rude.

Great food. I would call this a pulled pork sandwich instead of a Cuban since there are no pickles and ham on it but still very tasty. Also love that they have a large selection of local beers like Musky Bite from Rocky Reef. Outdoor patio is great for a nice summer day.

My husband is a bratwurst aficionado from childhood and was really looking forward to Otto’s. He ordered their brat specialty, which is supposed to be “butterflied” (not sure why). It was a shaped patty, not a butterflied brat and it was burned. His side was supposed to be American potato salad; he got German. I ordered a cup of soup and a Caesar side salad. The soup was ok. The salad was literally romaine lettuce and diced tomatoes (on Caesar?) and the dressing was Italian, not Caesar. I don’t know if the server entered the orders incorrectly or if the kitchen just doesn’t care. The ambiance was nice inside and out except there were a lot of flies. Super disappointing- def will not be back.

This place has definitely seen better days. took almost 30 minutes to get service, the place was half empty. They were out of several beers, preztel was straight out of the freezer, the cheese sauce was covered with a gross film. Asked for water 3 times before we got some. And it was expensive. No reason to ever go here.

Wow!
This is a fantastic beer garden in the middle of nowhere. Well, it's somewhere up here anyway...
If you're in Minoqua for any reason check out Ottos. If you're a beer person there are 10 on tap or more or less. They have German beers and your American favorites. In the bottle they have a dozen other bevvys from across Deutschland and Bavaria. Try them all.
On the food side we tried the pretzel (yes chef) and the beer cheese soup up front. I had a burnt beef ends brisket sausage (true) that was special. I added mushrooms and onions for less than a bus fare in Chicago. Go here it's tastya
tasty!

Very disappointing visit yesterday. To be fair they were definitely understaffed and I can't blame them for that. We visited Otto's 2 years ago and loved it, so naturally we wanted to go back. The food was fantastic then but not this time. Everything seemed over cooked Food and drinks didn't come out at the same time and had to ask for 3 meals they missed on our order. Probably not returning.

We walked into this German bar and restaurant in Minocqua expecting bratwurst and bier, not to be emotionally waterboarded by the bartender. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be a themed experience — like a “rude German uncle who resents your existence” kind of thing — but if so, they nailed it.
My friend asked a simple question about a sour ale and got the response: “It’s sour.” When she asked for a little more detail, he hit her with a “No,” like a dad who’s finally snapped on a family road trip. I tried to ask for a water while he was standing at the taps and he walked away like I’d just insulted his grandmother’s potato salad.
No food was offered, no one checked on us, and the only thing colder than the beer was the service. When we mentioned how uncomfortable the vibe was, someone chimed in with, “Oh, that’s just Mike — you’ll get used to him.”
No, we won’t. If I wanted to pay for the experience of being actively disliked, I’d go to couples therapy with my ex.

Stopped in for lunch, burger was good but the meat was pretty thin, toppings for burger was missing even though they asked and we said yes to all. The cook obviously can’t read. Waitresses were all very alert and kind. But the price for beer was a scam and I’m about to explain the rip off. I ordered a liter of beer and my wife ordered a half a liter. When I noticed the size difference I then ordered an ice water and requested it to be in the same glass as the half of liter that my wife was using. When I finished my liter I poured the ice water into my liter glass and it filled 1/4 of the glass. So you’re better off buying a liter for 13.00 than 6 to 7 dollars for 1/2 liter knowing it’s not half liter. Restaurant table seating is in patio when entrance is in front. Don’t offer French fries with burger but can get potatoe salad which is served in a small cup that is no bigger than the cup one might get ketchup or tartar sauce in. Which is about a table spoon. Our waitress was great but the cook is clueless and the proportion of food is a joke. This business won’t last. We spoke outside with another party just leaving and they was not happy either.

The staff has to be trained to actively ignore customers! We went in the front door, tried several times to make eye contact with staff about seating and were ignored. Seeing an open table we sat down and were ignored. I askeda servers we were okay sitting where we were. She said yes adding that she would get us a server. After waiting another 10 minutes or so. I went to the bar to get my own drinks. And at that point was told there was someone to check in with in the back, outside! So I checked in. Was told I had to wait at the bar for about 15 minutes. So we moved to the bar, 6 of us. Only to be seated at the same table 1 minute later! The service did not improve much. Forgot to bring drinks that were ordered.
Gordon Ramsey would be disappointed. The food is just bar food. Over salted.

Stopped in for a quick bite while traveling through town. The German beers on tap were solid, most of our group had the Hasen Pschorr and enjoyed it. If you like German food, they have pretty solid offerings. If you don't like German food, this probably won't be the place to convert you but there are decent salads and grilled sandwiches

We were up in the north woods for a little time away. After a nice mountain bike ride in Minocqua we decided we needed a beer and a bite. Otto’s looked like the perfect spot. 70° in northern Wisconsin in October ment we sat outside. They have a great Bier garden out there. Could use a little love but it was October and probably the end of the patio season. The beers were fantastic for sure! My son ordered the Knackwurst and he said it was super tasty! I got the Otto’s Famous Bratwurst and holy moly!! Not only was it the best brat I have ever had it was one of the best things I have ever tasted! The flat brat crisp on both sides was magic! We are already planning our next trip up north and we are definitely stopping at Otto’s again!

Asked to have our booth table cleaned, employee brought a dish cloth and tossed it on the table and walked away. It was not busy at the time we arrived, the staff did not greet us until I got up and asked for someone to wait on us. The music was extremely loud and staff made us feel like we were a bother to
them. Our party of three were about to leave when a pleasant young woman did arrive and took our order. We have eaten at Otto’s several times when in Minocqua, just felt like the staff did not perform their duties as management would expect from their employees. Will not be returning to dine anytime soon!

Can't give anything lower than a 1. Walked in with no welcoming. Stood at the sign waiting to be seated & 4 employees walked by without any acknowledgment. Finally after about 10 minutes we got seated & that's as far as our experience went. We sat there for 30 minutes. The people next to us got their drinks, the other two got their food, the next table got their bill & the table of 10 that came in after us placed their order. No one came over to drop off water or even looked at us. We are both great tippers, came to have fun with a big appetite and it's your loss. Don't waste your time.

The cook/manager on Tuesday, had awful customer service skills. Cook was very rude, screaming and very unprofessional to a customer at the outside bar area. Refused to put cheese on the side for a child at the restaurant. All in front of the other workers and other guests. A child wouldn't eat the nachos because they were to soggy and messy, and alls the customer was wanted cheese on the side of plain nachos. And the manager said to customer are you stupid it's nachos they get soggy. And also cook stated that's not his problem. After watching this, we won't be coming back and will not recommend this place to anyone else. The customer stated he dropped $160 down for lunch for his family at this resturant and the couldn't get a tiny 50cents cup of cheese and plain chips that he paid $13.99 for. Just plain rude.

I really enjoyed the beer, cider, and the bartender was a lot of fun with good banter and discussion, guidance on spirits and beers, and we tipped well.
Then we sat down and had just a horrible waitress who seemed like she was either on something and dead to the world or she was so apathetic to her job that she could care less about anything. Nothing was done right down to no silverware, no water, when asked for water by 2 people she delivered it to the other end of the 2 tables. She couldn't remember any drinks. Couldn't remember what anyone ordered, my wife asked for a side of ranch twice for our daughters chicken strips because the waitress had spilled the one it came with. She asked for a glass of ice twice which never came, and so on...many more examples all the way to not picking up payment or getting to go boxes. It's typical Northwoods service with zero attention to quality and just doing the bare minimum.
Food was pretty good though and all around everyone raved at what was presented except for the stadium nachos with a meh bland "beer" cheese soup smothering it. Don't go to a German restaurant and order nachos is what I had to retort to the person.
It's a limited menu mostly of authentic German cuisine and you can't go wrong with most choices we all picked.

Was excited when I walked in and was seated quickly, but slow service and overcooked food brought me back down to Earth. Brat dry, kraut flavorless. Someone else at my table got the reuben. They burnt the heck out of one side of the rye, so naturally they flipped that side inward and put it on the plate anyway. That's just laziness and a complete lack of pride or standards. Tastes pretty disgusting to bite into a piece of burnt bread. Based on my experience today, I doubt anyone here would care, but I wouldn't walk into this place again.

We waited 15 minutes after we were seated to be assigned a waitress, which we had to go up to the hostess and ask for. Then we waited an hour after ordering only to see people who had been seated after us getting their food. We went up to the hostess, because our waitress had not checked in with us for an hour, and they said they had not put our order in so our food hadn’t even been started. We left. As a visitor from Louisiana with a deep appreciation for food and culture, I found the atmosphere of this German beer garden to be truly remarkable. The establishment exudes an old-world charm with its rustic wooden décor, creating an immersive experience. Our waitress was exceptionally friendly, although got slightly teary eyed when we requested to split the bill.
Regarding the cuisine, I opted for the bratwurst, hoping to indulge in authentic German flavors. However, I found it to be somewhat dry and lacking in robust flavor profiles, falling short of my expectations. Despite this culinary setback, I must acknowledge that the overall experience was enjoyable.
While I may not revisit for the food, I believe this venue holds promise as a delightful destination for social gatherings with friends, particularly for those seeking a lively night out accompanied by quality beer. Ultimately, while the culinary aspect may have left something to be desired, the ambiance and potential for an enjoyable evening remain noteworthy.

I came to this joint on my recent stint in the WI area. This restaurant was eyeballed while walking the strip so I decided to try it out.
The inside has bier garten vibes housing a few round and party tables with the rear housing a small outdoor dining area.
I visited twice. Both times getting Otto's Famous Bratwurst w/a side of German potato salad. The first visit they were out of pretzels but not during the second! The pretzel was warm, soft, and very good. The cheese sauce it came w/was great as well but the pretzel can hold it's own w/o the cheese! The German potato salad was to die for. It was a hint of sweetness, maybe from raisins or similar, but DANG is it good. Don't miss out on this sleeper! Anyway, the brat was grilled to char which is ok w/me topped on a roll. To accompany the brat they bring out a basket of mustard, which has 3 mustards (maybe 4, can't remember) which pairs awesome but again, the brat can hold it's own.
Seems to be more of a bar but the food was pretty good.

This was a we saw it and said, "Let's try it" choice. I have to say it may be the best brat I have had in Wisconsin. The brat is removed from the casing ang grilled, served on a robust bun and kraut & chips on the side. We also had a beer from the large list. The wait staff is hit or miss. Some were on the ball, and others were a bit slow. Would like to try dinner sometime, too. Will definitely be back. The patio is very German beer hall like, with a nice mural on one wall.

The host(ess) informed us that it would be an hour wait for food, ergo, we were never seated. Perhaps this has to do with the fact that it was a midsummer's Saturday night (i.e. tourist season). Nevertheless, it would be prudent of this establishment's owner(s) to add more seating or post a sign on the door as well as on their website regarding wait times and/or the lack of seating.

This place is always amazing. We have tried most everything on the menu and have not been disappointed. My personal favorite is the Reuben or the Ottos Brat. The Weiss beer on tap is great and always have had great service. We ate there several days this last trip and only had one time where the service lacked as the waitress just disappeared and the staff had to track her down but this is not a representation of their service overall. This is a must when you are in the area. Also if you like Bloody Mary's. You should try the Bacon Jalapeno one. Its so good.

Had nachos with pork and a couple of beers, and knackwurst sandwich with beer. Great food and beer, plus unique atmosphere of outdoor beer garden with beautiful trees; an oasis in the middle of downtown Minocqua

German atmosphere with a very nice outdoor beer garden in the back. The German Reuben Sandwich and Spaten Premium Lager were really fabulous. The building has very unique architectural details, as well.

Fun place, good beer selection, and the food they serve is generally good, but not great. They could really benefit from expanding the menu imo. Go though, you will like this place!

We came for a cocktail and we had Joe as our bartender and the experience was amazing and coming from someone in the restaurant industry this guy has a heart of service and made us feel comfortable from the beginning. If you’re looking for a casual drink and some good food, this is the place to go to!

The pretzel appetizer we got as well as their namesake sandwich was delicious. The staff was also incredibly kind and Nancy took the time to recommend a local shop for us to check out! My husband and I loved our meal here, it’s a very cozy spot to refuel.

The waitress had very honest answers to our questions and helped us find the perfect meal. It was delicious and she helped us to a sample of a menu item we had questions about. Looking forward to the next visit to order that recommendation.

Our server, Nancy, was excellent. I was undecided on a side. When she delivered our food she gave me a sample of the other side just so I would know how delicious all their food is. The food was very good. We couldn't eat in the garden area but it looked like a great place and would have loved to dine there. Great place

The beer garden is amazing, the staff is friendly, and the two owners are passionate about their business and their customer's experience. Check out the beautiful hanging flowers, flower garden in the way back, and murals/tapestrys! Oh, and the brat and the rest of the food is amazing!

Awesome bloody Mary’s!! So so tasty + the garnish was impressive.
My only critique is that I’d upgrade the chaser … I can’t remember if it was Bud or Miller Lite, but it tasted like water 😅
