Our experience started at the door. Our host opened the door for us and made us feel welcome.
Our server was patient with us about being indecisive for ordering.
We started with drinks and I definitely got the puggle drink simply for the keepsake platypus (call me a sucker). It was good, not super sweet.
Got a blooming onion and that was a neat experience because it came on a raised platform. It was yummy and so was the boom sauce.
My husband order the 8oz sirloin with grilled shrimp with asparagus and a cup of French onion soup. The soup smelled and tasted so good that I actually added it to my order as well.
The steak was cooked perfectly and the asparagus was cooked just right and seasoned well. Shrimp was delicious and cooked to perfection!
I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with fries. Chicken was juicy and cooked well. Seasoned so good I actually ate it without the bun! Fries were crispy and seasoned well.
Our server was sweet and really on top of things! She noticed my husband's drink needed filling before he even did lol!

Big shoutout to our server Gil at Outback! From the second we sat down, he was super friendly, funny, and made us feel right at home. He kept our drinks full, got everything right with our order, and checked in just the right amount without hovering.

Dear Outback Management,

I’m writing to share my ongoing concerns regarding the service my family and I have experienced at your Madison location. While I truly appreciate the manager on duty during our recent visit who stepped in and helped adjust our bill — and I want to acknowledge that effort as it was a very kind gesture — the larger issue is the pattern of neglect and poor service we’ve dealt with for quite some time now.

My parents, a lesbian couple, are incredibly loyal customers. They love dining at Outback and visit this location three to four times a month. They do not complain and won’t complain but they are frustrated with the level of service received as well.

I personally join them every so often and unfortunately, I’ve witnessed a recurring theme of dismissive or inattentive service that’s becoming increasingly frustrating.

I want to mention we drive from Sun prairie to come to this location since the east has shut down. So a well over 30 minute drive! Do not drive that far to receive poor service !

During our latest visit, we were seated by a very kind and welcoming host, which we appreciated. However, after placing our drink and appetizer orders, we waited over 15 minutes with no further acknowledgment from our server. Meanwhile, a newly seated table right next to us received immediate and attentive service and the same server on us checked on them frequently, while ours barely came around. My brothers burger came medium rare when he asked for well done and despite repeatedly asking for bread and other items we were never given any or it was severely delayed to the point we got frustrated and wanted the bill to leave. We did not eat our food at the restaurant.

As I mentioned earlier, the manager on duty took care of our bill. So this particular issue was resolved but I’m frustrated with the level of service received which is why I am complaining.

I want to mention that this wasn’t the first time we’ve had this experience — and it’s not isolated to one server. There is one particular waitress — a plus-sized Black woman — who has outright refused to serve our table on more than one occasion. Other servers have even stepped in to cover her section, openly acknowledging the issue. I used to be a server in college. Whether it’s personal bias or lack of professionalism, it’s completely unacceptable! Due to this , we have waited 20-30 minutes to get acknowledgment when she works because they have to get someone from the other side of the restaurant to take care of us

That said, I want to be fair. There are some standout staff members who deserve recognition: the tall white male server with black hair, the light-skinned Black male manager, and Gil, another server, have all provided excellent service in the past. But unfortunately, they are the exception, not the norm.

It’s especially frustrating considering we consistently spend well over $100-200 per visit, and always tip generously — between $20–$40. My parents don’t like to complain, but I’m not them. I believe in giving feedback when things need to change, and right now, they do.

I want to be clear, I do not want anyone to get in any trouble, rather I want correction! I don’t want to dread dining out with my family or feel disrespected at a place we’ve supported so much. A team meeting, better staff training, and accountability are long overdue at this location. If something doesn’t shift soon, you risk losing not only our continued support but likely that of other customers who’ve had similar experiences and quietly walked away.

As for the food, it is usually well done. On occasion, it will come overcooked or undercooked. I think that can use attention as well

I truly hope this message is received in the spirit it’s intended: as a call for necessary change so that loyal customers like my family and I can continue to enjoy meals here without having to tolerate poor treatment. THANK YOU!

Extremely Disappointing Experience

We’ve dined at this Outback several times a year, but this visit was by far the worst. After being seated, the table was completely bare—no silverware, napkins, salt, or pepper. Our server vanished, and I had to ask for silverware after our salads were already served—still no napkins. The pecan salad? Barely a salad, and ironically, no pecans.

The steak took nearly 30 minutes to arrive, and when it did, it was cold and a third of it was inedible fat. Not once were we offered refills for water or bread throughout the meal. The overall service was inattentive and careless.

I left a $0.01 tip—intentionally. It was intentional

First off, the fact we had to wait 15 minutes for a table when there was hardly anyone there, because they only had 2 servers should have been our first clue. The guy that was the supposed host looked lost like he had no clue what he should doost of the time.
My wife ordered the ribs and said they were very good, but her salad was probably 70% white lettuce, the hard parts of lettuce heads.
I ordered the 16 oz prime rib, which looked more like a 12 oz, but was cooked to medium like I asked. However, after I cut all the fat off, I was probably lucky if I had a full 6 oz of edible meat. It was absolutely tasteless & had no flavor what so ever. Glad I had horseradish sauce and au jus.
We should have gone to Texas Road House to be honest.
Personally I would steer clear of this location.

I’ve gone to Outback before (specifically the one on the East side of Madison) and always enjoyed their steaks. However, this experience made me not want to come back again (to this location at least) My partner and I ordered some drinks but he had ordered a custom Lavender Lemonade. 20 minutes went by and we received our food but he was still missing his drink. The waitress was nice but she had said that someone didn’t make the drink and went to find someone who could. Drink was finally received.

Shortly after, we noticed our food was cold but we didn’t want to complain since they had already been cleaning up. Additionally, we had been a bit nervous about the meat (Ribeye and Chimichurri) because we asked for medium and received pieces that looked RAW (as pictured). We tried to continue eating but the sides were lacking seasoning. The next morning, we were feeling very sick with stomach pains. Very upsetting experience :((

My boyfriend and i decided to go out for our anniversary and we wanted to go somewhere we never have been, at first everything seemed okay, until we had to wait 30 mins for someone to even take our order. My partner and I came in and were sat immediately by the hostess. It’s a slow night and not many tables were eating, so I was surprised when 17 minutes went by and we weren’t greeted by any waiters. Entrees arrived, took longer than I would have expected, especially when the restaurant wasn't busy at all on a Sunday early afternoon. Being a larger party the food came out a few minutes apart, no issues there. Food was served hot and just how everyone ordered it. The food was good. The burger was good but greasy. The pasta dishes were delicious and tasted great. The steak and shrimp meals were good as well. Steaks were cooked just how we wanted. Next time the server should make guests aware the sides of onions and mushrooms are larger servings and can be shared, wasted $ on each of us ordering additional toppings when we could have shared being they came out in larger bowls. It was just really slow with service and not very attentive waitress. I mean, again, it wasn't a busy afternoon at all. We had to ask for silverware and napkins several times even after our appetizers came out before we could eat them. Getting refills on drinks took a really long time, it was like our party was forgotten about. We typically don't come to this location and think from now on will just stick to our normal location as we're never had these issues there. Not sure what it was. Our waitress didn't seem over worked or anything, she spent a lot of time at the bar talking with the bartender, so definitely just a miss on her part. Came in Sunday earlier afternoon to celebrate a birthday and during the Packer game so we knew it would be slow, thought it would be the best time but I guess not. Also, get the bathroom faucets fixed, all they do is spray water all over the place, you can't even wash your hands properly! The faucets nozzles are all broke and should be replaced. I couldn't even get warm/hot water in the bathrooms. Restaurant overall was clean.

Today was my wedding day, and my first time at Outback Steakhouse. I'm so happy we came! Everything was perfect. The staff went above and beyond to my husband and I with being so accommodating. They gave us a free appetizer! A big thank you to everyone!

Let me start out saying the food was delicious some of my family went there after a funeral I paid the bill left 30.00 tip the server he changed it to 50.00 because I checked my bank account knowing what the total was called the manager she sent me a copy of receipt you could see it had been changed Manager Niki said she would refund my 20.00 I told her I wanted my whole 50.00 (30 and the 20 he added) she did refund SO MY ADVICE IS To ALWAYS Check Your Bank Account AFTER

Unfortunately, we left as soon as our food was served. We got one shot at a date night without the kids and were so bummed we couldn’t have a decent meal together. It took over an hour and a half to receive our plates (very simple order, hardly any customers) and our food was cold. We had no clue who our waiter was as four different workers came to our table, hardly giving service. The blooming onion was soggy and way over salted, like all their food with watery soda. When we asked for the bill right away, we were asked rudely by one of the four workers if we had somewhere to be. Sadly, I won’t be eating at Outback again.

Our server was absolutely amazing. My grandma was a little confused and slow to order, and he was patient and kind the entire time. The host was also fantastic, accommodating my grandma's wheelchair and need for an electrical outlet for a medical need. He walked around the restaurant with me to make sure the table selected would meet all of our needs. Every single employee we interacted with was friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful, but honestly, a side note to how great the staff made the experience.

Always great food. Service today was great and most times it has been great! My only problem with this visit was the women’s bathroom. It was not clean and garbage was not taken out. We were there early so the garage was probably from the prior day. Smelled horrible which kind of took away from the delicious food.

I came to get 2 baked potatoes soups for pick up NOT DINE IN! I tipped and asked for extra napkins and didn’t get them! This always happens at this location if I ask for anything like napkin silverware salt pepper packet a1 sauce they never pay attention to the notes and get the order right and I tip Everytime! It just gets annoying and it’s like the servers are not paying attention!

Going to this restaurant with my best friend was THE BEST decision we could have made that night! I had just received some bad news from my doctor, and all we wanted was a really good atmosphere, good food, and good service. And that's exactly what we received. The demeanor of our waiter, Joey, was absolutely wonderful. Absolutely perfect. And hats' off to the chef(s)! We had the steak & shrimp, mashed potatoes, & mixed veges; ALL was MORE than delicious. And then, to top it all off, the manager, Donovan, came to our table to ask if everything was good, and to me, he was genuine and sincere, and altogether, this has been the best customer service I have ever received in a restaurant. So, to Donovan, Joey, and everyone who works at Outback Steakhouse, thank you so much for a great first visit. We will definitely be returning!
Edit: we have ordered several times for pick up, and unfortunately pretty much every order was incorrectly made. We called the restaurant each time to tell them what was wrong and we would end up having to go back to pick up the correct meals.

The last time I came here I was super under impressed with the food and the service. I know it has gone under some management changes recently and it definitely shows! I was super super impressed how different the aesthetic in general was. But also the wait staff and management. The food definitely had care put back into it and I let the manager know (I assume he was the manager) personally how impressed I was with the service and everything in general. Definitely will be coming back again and again. The new team is AMAZING! Even our server who said he had only been working there for 3 days, was immaculate!

Disappointing doesn't even begin to express out experience today. We ordered 3 meals of the steak and shrimp on fettuccine alfredo. The pasta was overcooked and the steak and alfredo sauce were out of date. Terrible food! Had actually been looking forward to the meal all week! Why would you serve expired food?
