Chips were cold and stale, likewise with the tostada. 1 birria taco for $7 tasted too much like brown sugar, no peppers or any seasoning but salt was involved. I want to love this place and the food and drink makes that possible, but the service is irritating every time we're in. We've waited at the bar for to-go during a slow lunch time, and watched it sit under the heat lamps while the bartender yucked it up with some friends at the bar. Similar experience dining in more than once. Getting hot food out seems crucial in an establishment where guests can see the window. We've ordered chips and salsa (not complimentary) that never arrived. Yesterday we asked about our food after 25-30 minutes and our server's expression made it clear she never rang our food in. Still arrived soggy and lukewarm somehow. My wife also waited over 15 minutes for the bathroom and when she finally got in, the haze made it clear the employee holding things up had been on a vape break. Again, insane practice in a restaurant this small. I hate sounding like a Karen, but I just expect better when the tacos are $7.

My takeout order was allegedly done, but when I arrived I was told that it wasn't done and that it would take another 15 minutes. 30 minutes later (during which I watched a family of four who arrived at the same time as me be seated, served, and almost completely finish their meal), I asked a server to please check on my order at which point she handed me a takeout bag that had been sitting on the counter for 10 minutes. When I mentioned this, she said, "Sometimes orders get misplaced" and gave a little shrug. No apology, no offer of free chips and salsa, or anything else to make up for the inconvenience/poor service. When I got home 5 minutes later to eat, I discovered that the meat in my order was wrong, the salsa I paid extra for was missing, and the food was luke warm. This is my first and last time getting food from this place and encourage you to consider one of the many other Mexican restaurants in Milwaukee and Wauwatosa with better food, better service, and more reasonable prices.

I come through the area for work several times a year and always try to come here.
Food is excellent. Palomas are not good but drinkable and always have been that way unfortunately.
They keep adding seating, but don't have service or kitchen that can keep up.
You need a host and another person handling takeout orders, then maybe the service staff could manage the bar top and tables.
The kitchen is obviously way to small to handle the volume of seating unfortunately.
The demand for the food has outgrown the physical size of this business now. I wish it was still as enjoyable of an experience as it used to be. Sadly, the tacos quality really suffered tonight, too. Just too busy making money to do quality anything tonight.

Went for the first time on Cinco de Mayo—great vibe and music! Despite being busy, the food came out fast. The strawberry margarita was one of the best I’ve had. You can tell that they don’t use premade or canned stuff, everything was fresh! Total was $95 for 2 drinks, 2 apps, and 3 entrees. Only downside was our waiter seemed annoyed, but the manager was friendly and the brunette server was working hard.

Now let me tell you something, I'm from Texas and understand what Hispanic food is about, This place is mediocre. There's no spice, no flavor, where's the love the seasoning.
Got there. I asked what's the best thing on the menu. He said the Crunch Wrap. Cool got the Spicy Chicken. Spoiler, it's not Spicy, a little salt and pepper never killed anybody. Asked for Salsa, gave me their habanero sauce. I had no clue salsa could be sweet and not spicy. Tried the green sauce not spicy.

Let's be real, the only reason they're in business is because there's no competition for Hispanic food out here. Just a bunch of people being a culture vultures.

I literally crave this place! From the Brussel Sprout Taco in the Queso Crunch Shell, to the Taco Pocket (Chicken or Shrimp), the dishes always explode with flavor! Went in for the 1st time, the hot chip starter was amazing! Ordered a torta but i got a pocket taco which was okay i enjoyed it regardless. Original server was Robert M and he was a great server! What made the experience not so enjoyable was asking a waitress for some water and she seemed extremely inconvenienced when she rolled her eyes when i asked for water. Edit 2024: +2 stars. Just expect inconsistent wait times, and don't come super hungry. they seem to have figured out a better assembly line since 2020, when waits for 2 tacos was 45min-1hr. For the most part, food is faster than before, but still be prepared to wait a while if most seats are taken--their kitchen is very tiny. If it's busy, i won't bother; or I'll come for drinks and order food as an afterthought. Still insane amount of Styrofoam used, which sucks to see as a consumer, knowing there are better options. Have to pay for chips & salsa. Watched a server at North Ave THROW AWAY 2 tacos after not asking every table if it was theirs--what a waste. Drink menu is good. Pricing is good, and justifyable--anything more expensive and this place drops stars in my opinion. Although, they do not have Diet Coke--they didn't tell me when I ordered, and I saw the $4 soda on the receipt--they use a local soda company, which is great but wasn't transparent. I guess overall, you may have to go when it's not an evening/peak dinnertime, or go multiple times to get a good experience average. I'm glad I gave this place a second (3rd, 4th, 5th) chance years later.

I ordered the Usual Supect believe that's what it's called. It was ok, I'm very picky about my Mexican food. I didn't care for it I couldn't decipher what I was tasting. The chips are really good, though. Altogether, I spent $32, which isn't bad for a burrito, chips and guacamole, and one drink. I just wasn't impressed with what I ordered, BUT that's not to say I wouldn't go back because the menu is packed with multiple items and I'm sure I would enjoy. And the staff was super friendly. The place is very clean and you actually get to see your food being prepared unless you sit outside. But those chips were so good that I'd go back just for them but they do have some very interesting items on the menu and I'm going back to try something else because the ladies I was with said their food was delicious and now I regret not trying it when they offered 😋 but I'm gonna go back and I'll leave a review when I do

This place is definitely a neighborhood favorite. The server seemed to know a number of the clientele. There is seating at the bar and a few tables inside, as well as the side walk. It gets loud, but atmosphere is friendly.

Went on a Friday after work and it was busy. We made it for their happy hour. The drinks were OK...they were not like an authentic Mexican restaurant and tasted a bit watered-down. I recently dined at Paloma Taco and Tequila, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. Upon arrival, we were seated in an awkward and unappetizing location directly in front of the area where leftover food is dumped into the garbage, with our view into the kitchen adding to the discomfort. The atmosphere was further dampened by excessively loud music, contributing to a stuffy and overwhelming ambiance. Despite being provided with an estimated wait time, the actual wait for our food far exceeded expectations, taking nearly an hour for our meals to arrive. When it did arrive, the food was pretty mid. It’s really not hard to mess up a burrito but they did. Additionally, to our surprise, we were charged extra for using a credit card, which felt like an unnecessary and unfair additional expense. While the staff was friendly, the overall experience fell short of expectations, and I would not recommend Paloma Taco and Tequila to others based on the uncomfortable seating, loud atmosphere, excessive wait time, and additional charges. I hope the management takes steps to address these issues and improve the dining experience for future patrons.

STAY AWAY! Far, far away.

Unless you enjoy waiting an hour and 20 minutes, only to have not one but THREE parties that arrived AFTER you to be seated ahead of you… No apology. And then when I informed them we were leaving, they had the audacity to act shocked and offended.

The worst part is not their incompetence, but their indifference. This establishment literally does not care. But, I’m grateful they made my decision SO easy; if they won’t care for me as a guest, I won’t care to patronize their restaurant. EVER again. And I encourage people considering this restaurant to save your time, money and patience… STAY AWAY!

This is my favorite place to grab Mexican food in the area. I particularly like the taco pocket, or the queso crunch taco (definitely not getting the names right). The food is always great, and I enjoy the atmosphere. There's not a lot of seating, particularly when the weather isn't conducive to outdoor seating, so I would suggest a maximum group size of 4. You may want to go somewhere else if you have a large group.

I recommended Palomas for dinner to my out of town guest because the 1st time I went there ( when the restaurant originally opened) I had the best experience. The staff and owner were so nice and attentive. The food was good and I just loved the cozy feel and concept of this restaurant! I was so excited to take my guest here! Well…I went there last night with the intent to have a good experience eat tacos and catch up over drinks, perfect! We went to Palomas sat down at a 2 person table which was fine. We were eyeing up the four person table that was empty but the waitress and bartender rudely suggested and pointed we sit at the 2 person table. Ok, no big deal. At that point there was not a wait for tables. They were probably waiting for the rush. I was not going to let the approach ruin my night! I ignored it and carried on. We ordered our food and drink and then mid dinner the staff tells us to move our table further over to the table next to us (we were literally already that close) Now we, are almost joining them! They now were going to turn the 4 table we were eyeing up into 2 tables to accommodate 4 separate guests. It was another uncomfortable situation again it was just rudely done and waitress not friendly with her approach which made it more uncomfortable. It was so uncomfortable for me and my guest and the people next to us. We were moved so close that we would have to move the table to get out. We again ignored it to make the best of our dinner. Then after we were done eating not done with our drinks or conversation, the waitress asked how we wanted the bill. I did not mention to her I was still drinking my drink I figured she already knew that. I answered her question. She comes over and tell us the amount for each of us and proceeds to processes our payment. I continue on with my out of town guest and we talk and continue sipping our drink. She comes back 5 mins later to tell us we need to hurry up due to the wait they have! We were not even there for 1 hour yet! I told her I was still working on my drink she said ok and comes 5 mins later and said our time was up! At that point, I had it! I told her how this was the worst dining experience I had ever had and I will not be back! . I would have told her not to close the bill if I knew we were going to be asked to leave. If I wanted fast food I would have picked a different place! Needless to say my night ended early and it was an embarrassment! I don’t wish this experience for anyone!
If anyone is looking for top notch service and authentic Mexican food Guadalajara restaurant in Milwaukee gets it right every time! You will not be disappointed by their food or service! We need more restaurants and service like Guadalajara’s!

Update 12-27-23: Still a gem. Food is still the awesome salty cheesy bomb of indulgence it always has been.

To whomever is running things: I go often enough to notice that you have a consistent front of house staff. Any restaurant in the area would be lucky to have them and I assume they stick around because you do right by them. As a customer...thank you for that.

To the kitchen staff, love y'all too.

I have wanted to try Paloma for a while now, and finally got the chance to stop in! For a weekday night, it was busy! We waited about 20 minutes for a seat at the bar area, but we did get served drinks while we waited. We got their margarita to start while we waited.

The staff was all very friendly and attentive and the inside is well decorated and welcoming. Though, when it is colder out, I do wish the waiting area was a little bigger.

After getting seated at the bar we ordered chips, salsa, and queso and they were gone in a blink of an eye. We also ordered the house infusion margarita, pineapple jalapeno, yum! It was the perfect spicy margarita and paired well with our entrees. We enjoyed the Paloma Taco Pocket, Spicy Chicken Taco, and the Gringo All the Way! Taco. The flavors were amazing and we will definitely be back for more!

Great place for authentic Mexican dishes. Small simple food menu, amazing drink menu. I recommend the street corn and avocado quesadilla with spicy chicken and the spicy Mexican old fashioned. So very good, will definitely be back…thanks Cheyenne for a great experience!!!

This was the first time visiting and it was very busy. In spite of that, we were seated quickly and our order was taken efficiently with the right amount of friendly. Just a note: it is INCREDIBLY noisy and our conversation was limited to occasionally yelling a comment to each other. Regular conversation was completely out of the question.
The food was tasty if very greasy, think the sort of gut bomb you want while drinking. Lots of vegan options, and they will accommodate lactose issues. The kitchen is slow. Be prepared.
I would return.

Overall the food was edible. Just not authentic Mexican food. Definitely wouldn’t not find these items at a real Mexican spot. It was busy, so I expected service to be slower. Atmosphere was great. Definitely targeted for ppl who live in that neighborhood. I would say it’s an upscale Taco Bell.

First timer, sat outside to enjoy the weather. Chips & salsa were great, you can definitely tell the chips are homemade. Salsa was fresh. Had the get your gringo tacos, one with the queso crunch. Both were tasty. The Elote cup was too spicy for my taste, but I'm a wimp. I only left one star off as service was a little confusing. They didn't seem busy but 2 waitresses for our table that just seemed confused. I didn't try the hot chips but that's the big entree that you see, huge portions.

Such delicious food! I've ordered carryout before, but this was the first time I was able to get a seat — it was nice to take in the colorful decor and enjoy the ambiance with my friend over my lunch break. (The music was a tad loud, so just be aware that you and your tablemates may struggle to hear each other.) Confession: I actually always get the same thing here, the chorizo taco pocket. It is aaaaabsolute fire, I tell ya. My friend even got the same damn thing cuz we didn't want to share haha. It's super cheezy but assembled really well so the filling doesn't ooze out and it's not as messy as it appears on first glance. It also reheats really well as leftovers, so two meals in one, baby 🤌 The chips n salsa aren't bad, either, though the amount of chips is a little sparse. Maybe someday I'll try something else, but for now I'm still dreaming of my next pocket experience.

I'm still kicking myself for waiting so long to try out Paloma when they're less than 10 minutes from my house. I've heard good things about them forever and FINALLY decided to check it out. My only regret is not having gone sooner now!

Seating is definitely a hot commodity so either get there early, be prepared to wait, or order to go. That being said the indoor seating feels intimate without being crowded. The colors are bright and fun without being gaudy.

Managed to show up during happy hour and the classic margarita did not disappoint! If you're a tequila fan you'll be super happy with the 30+ tequila options available as well. While I don't remember exactly which three tacos I had, I know they were all delicious and would happily order anything else off the menu as well to give it a try.

And any restaurant that has a dedicated section for doggos on their menu gets a big thumbs up from me!

Two words: TACO POCKET! So amazingly delicious! Even better with their Mango Habanero sauce for some heat! Also the infused margaritas are the way to go! Food is 10 of of 10! As for the service its a small place and it gets busy so sometimes things take a little while, but well worth it! The atmosphere inside is super cute but I usually sit outside based on table availability. It is always a bit of an adventure dining alongside North Ave. again well worth it for the amazing food! I highly recommend and will continue to come back.

AMAZE-ING! I sat at the “low bar” and had a dinner and show! Watching the incredibly attentive waitstaff/bar and the kitchen staff work so fluidly together on a busy night was something! I have grown up in the restaurant business and it’s hard to impress me. This whole crew has knocked it out of the park, not to mention when I got my food, it was hot and tasty and exactly what I ordered. I love that they offer vegan and vegetarian options!! and they NAILED IT! I had 4 different tacos and each one was absolutely stuffed full, they are very generous on portions. This is a must try spot for out of towners like me or Milwaukee peeps looking for a hopping spot!

Walked into busy place, no tables available. Hostess never acknowledged us. Walked up to other patrons walking in and asked what they needed. My girlfriend tried to get her attention and she just walked away. We lefted! That was going to be my first time eating there and was looking forward to it. But poor service turned me away.

I came in and ordered over $40 worth of food only to be asked to stand up so paying customers could sit down after I paid. After standing for over 35 minutes I asked about my food and was told that food typically takes 45 minutes. After 45 minutes I asked for a refund so I could just go and after she went to look at my ticket said “no, the food is already being made”.
