There's not too many spots in Tomah to sit down and have a good meal for a reasonable price; yes there's a good selection of options like several fast food joints and a couple other notable sit-down spots, but in my personal opinion, none take the crown quite like Perkins does. The moment you walk into the doors the atmosphere feels warm and inviting. There's a cabinet in the main waiting area with a selection of delicious looking pies, muffins, and other treats. You're greeted and seated by their extremely friendly hostesses who then direct you to your main server who promptly make their introduction and add a bit of friendly charm to the experience by ensuring that you will be well tended to during your dining experience. Drinks were served promptly, kindly, and quickly. The server, without being persistent, paid attention to and acknowledged us being ready to order, even with having a full section already. Our food came out within a reasonable amount of time and was absolutely DELICIOUS. Server made sure we were enjoying our food and that our drinks were full. They also quickly noticed when we were finished and kindly inquired if we were ready for our bill or if we'd like anything else or possibly some dessert. We did end up leaving with a peanut butter silk pie. Delicious! 😋 Thank you Perkins staff for the pleasant experience and we look forward to returning!

My family and I arrived around 11:30am and we had a party of 20 people. We hadn’t had the opportunity reserve seating, but the staff double checked bookings to see if they could accommodate us.

This is our favorite place to eat. First because of the people that work there, they go above to make your visit a nice one and of course the food. And It is always clean.

Terrible experience at this Perkins while traveling. Ordered from the menu given to us only to be told that it is an old menu, and then the waitress was told by another staff person that it is being used again. Ordered 2 eggs over medium well, got 1 egg over medium. Asked for the other egg and got one that was barely flipped on the grill. The mac n cheese did not look edible at all. And no lightbulb at our table. This Perkins has many issues to work out.

Food was good but service could be improved. My child ordered a soda and the waitress brought a large glass so he didn’t get the free drink with his meal-it was the $3.70 for his drink. Also, no cookie. When asked the waitress only addressed the soda and said the cost was because it was a large glass, of which I did not request. If you order a kids meal make sure to request them kids drink so you can maybe get the actual kids meal cost.

We stopped at the Tomah, WI location for a late lunch on Monday, June 2, 2025 at about 2pm. From start to finish, our experience was fantastic! I regret not remembering the name of our server, but she was the only one waiting tables at that time, and she couldn't have been more pleasant and professional. She checked on us often, but not too often, and seconds after both of our napkins hit the plate and were slid to the edge, she was there with our bill. Honestly, what we observed while we were there, was a business filled with employees that were happy, pleasant, and professional. Having spent nearly all of my working life in customer service and management, I truly appreciate an experience like this and try to give the appropriate positive feedback. Our food was fantastic! My husband ordered the Granny Omelet, and I the Everything Omelet. (our usual when stopping at a Perkins) Thank you to the entire staff in Tomah!!

I took my son out for Breakfast 2 weeks ago which is a rare occasion, maybe a few times a year. It's been a really long time since we've been able to say everything was perfect at other places we've been to. At this restaurant, the food, the service, relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere was amazing. Top knotch. We absolutely loved the pancakes. Went in there tonight with 2 others waited a few minutes to be seated! Upon being seated the waitress asked the manager to serve us... we got our food in a timely manner came out hot and looked very presentable! However, after 2 bites into my meal I found quite a long grey hair in it so I waited until the manager came back to check on us and showed him, he then took my plate to be remade! Food came back out hot and hair free and tasted pretty decent! Now my biggest issue that that when we were paying the bill i had forgotten my keys at the booth and the server started yelling across the restaurant about me forgetting the keys with quite an attitude and we weren't even sure who she was yelling at because there were other people up at the cash register paying for their bill as well! The servers name was kim! As kim was yelling the manger was smiling about it which did make me feel as if he didn't care about how is employees spoke to customers!

My meal this evening was delicious! Upon arriving, we were greeted promptly and quickly received a glass of iced tea and water. Our server was polite and kindly delivered our order in a timely manner. My plate was warm and the Eggs Benedict was perfectly prepared. My sister had a cheeseburger with fries and she enjoyed her meal too.

Stopped in for dinner last night for dinner with my family after my nephews basketball game, we were a group of 10. We were greeted and seated immediately. We had the pleasure of being served by a very sweet young lady by the name of Mandy. She was phenomenal! She was so sweet and patient with us as we took along time to order. Having not been to Perkins in years we weren’t familiar with the menu, she answered all of our questions and helped us pick some delicious meals! The hibachi chicken skillets my husband and I ordered was spectacular! She even brought out our daughters salad before the meal arrived! We didn’t feel rushed to order or leave, overall it was a very pleasant experience! Way to go Perkins! Give this girl a promotion! She’s top notch! We will be back!

A Wonderful Thanksgiving Experience

This year, our Thanksgiving plans changed unexpectedly, and we were unable to join family as we had hoped. Thankfully, we found this gem of a restaurant, and they truly made our holiday special. We did the take out for two turkey dinners, which was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked, tender, and served with all the traditional fixings. The staff especially the host a young lady was incredibly kind and courteous, making us feel welcomed and cared for from the moment we walked in.

A standout highlight was the wild berry pie. It was nothing short of amazing—perfectly balanced in sweetness and tartness with a buttery, flaky crust. It was the ideal end to our meal and truly a treat.

While it wasn't the Thanksgiving we initially envisioned, the last minute option and excellent food at this restaurant made the day feel meaningful. We are so grateful for this experience and we'll certainly be back to Perkins.

We used to take our kids to Perkins regularly when they were young so we decided to stop by this Perkins for dinner on our drive cross state. I thought a bit about whether to write a review because overall, the staff was polite even though we did not have a pleasant experience. but felt that it would be helpful to help others set their expectations.

Service:
Our server mentioned that she was new to working at this Perkins. When she took our orders, she was not very clear and misled us a bit which lead to misunderstandings on what was and was not included in our meal. This lead to a very uncomfortable situation where we had to resolve the bill charges with her, then the manager. It was not a great experience overall however, all parties remained polite about it.

Advice - make sure to read your menu very thoroughly and do not rely on your server.

Timing:
if you are don’t have time for a leisurely meal, this place may not be for you. We probably spent about 1.5 hours there when we were hoping to spending 45-60 min. After placing our orders we waited about 25 -30 minutes for the food to come out and then a bit more for server to serve us because she was struggling with the weight of the tray (guessing) and then a bit more to resolve issues with the bill.

Food:
Hit and misses here. Meatloaf was good. Grilled fish and shrimp was alright. Pass on the turkey dinner and sirloin steak. The thin pieces of turkey were dry and hard and the sirloin steak was dry and over cooked (asked for med/rare for med/well). My daughter made the best of it by cutting it up and sharing pieces them with us instead. 😆 we did mention it to the server when she came by towards the end of our meal to check on us. She asked if we wanted it fixed, but by this time, we were already delayed on our journey and she didn’t want to bother nor have an appetite. It’s equivalent to cafeteria food.

Talk about kid friendly! Everyone was so helpful, there was tons for the kids to do, and everyone was so patient with us. Our kids are three and one, so you can imagine. The waitress took great care of us. When checking out the person refused my AARP card saying we have a senior menu. Well, none of us ate from the senior menu. All the sides we tried were bad - the asparagus in particular was obviously reheated from frozen and couldn't be cut even by the steak knife much less the regular knife. So I'm going to share my real-time personal experience based on service alone, will update on food later. I walked in at 6:22am, only 2 cars in lot. Pretty empty. I came in to place a carryout order. Waited while other people walked right by the "wait to be seated" sign. I finally got tired of waiting and called the restaurant. That brought one of the waitresses to the lobby where I was waiting but she started to assist someone who had just walked in. Thankfully the customer said I was here first. I placed my order at 6:40am! Normally I would've walked out but there are not many options in this area and we are visiting one of the nearby resorts. Please be more aware of the entire restaurant including the lobby where there are clear instructions for patrons to wait to be seated. It was kind of hard to miss me as I am the only person of color in the entire establishment. The waitess was nice as she handed me my food so a nice ending I suppose.

Updated for Food: prices were very reasonable. Fed a family of 4 for about $40. Pancakes were good, everything else to our satisfactory. Portions were standard. Comparable to Dennys or your standard family restaurant.

Walked in at 8:25 a.m and had to wait about 6 minutes for someone to seat us. Then after all 3 server's had waited and or greeted everyone AFTER us, I finally had to get up and walk through the kitchen and request a manager at my table. Time lapse was 11 minutes before I walked into the kitchen. Paula, the saviour in this whole debauchle was at our table when I returned. She was in a different room and heard me. But yet the Mgr I requested and NEVER saw, said he heard nothing. I am a Executive Chef and have been for a long long time....I know I was heard, just no backbone... I will never be back until the GM is fired. He was called and did absolutely nothing but make excuse after excuse. Thank you Paula AND THANK YOU KITCHEN STAFF!! YOU FOLKS ROCK. The rest need to go ...sorry not sorry but I pay for that service. You don't want to do this? There's other jobs

I was a little disappointed with my meal. It tasted blan. It has always been very good. We all have our days. The coffee was really really strong I don't know if it was old or what. But I will be back.
