We were in Hudson for The Phipps Theatre production of Little Shop of Horrors. Our friends had suggested Pier 500 for dinner before the play. Pier 500 was absolutely the best in everyway!!! Walking up to the restaurant the atmosphere was great. They have a lot of outdoor seating. The inside atmosphere was perfect. Our server, Bobby Sue was awesome!! I can't say enough about the food!!! We had the cauliflower appetizer (to die for)..... SO GOOD!!! A few of us had the Walleye Bowl! SO YUMMY!! One of us had the Fish & Chips!! AWESOME. My husband had the Pesto Pasta! HE LOVED IT!! THEN.... Bobby Sue suggested we try the flight of desserts (little samples of 5 desserts). OMG!!!! Needless to say were were stuffed going into the play!!! Thank you Pier 500!! The view of the St. Croix River from the patio is beautiful and makes eating outside the highlight of the visit. The atmosphere is lively and fun, and it is one of the most popular spots in Hudson.

The food is okay. Nothing really sticks out, but it is fine. The walleye sandwich is probably the best choice on the menu. Drinks are average, not great but not terrible.

The biggest drawback is the wait. There is almost always a list, especially if you want to sit outside. Still, the view and riverfront setting make it worth coming back.

We have been here a million times. Tonight we had the worst service ever, we had to ask for napkins and silverware. Then we asked for rolls, the server said we get 3. We had 4 in our party. So my husband said give us two orders. They came harder than a rock. So they brought new one, they brought 3 instead of six, again we said we ordered 6. They brought the remaining 3 with no butter. The walleye came and you could not eat it, it was old, we have had this many times before. We returned it. They then came back and asked my husband what he wanted instead. I said are you going to ask me? He said Im remaking your walleye. I didn't ask you to do that. The whole table said we didn't ask for that. To make a longer story short. This was suppose to be a birthday gathering and it just simply was awful.

Our server was Bobbie,she was wonderful. I had a bad day and she turned it into a good one. She offered good suggestions and had the bartender make me a blackberry mojito which was not on the menu. Very popular place. We went early assuming there would be a waiting list, and there was. However, we walked the shops that were open and didn't wait as long as they said for a table. The view of the water is beautiful and we had great food and service. Loved the cauliflower appetizer. We all had the salads and they were delicious. Highly recommend.

We were taken to this restaurant for dinner by our friends. We are here on vacation from California. I had the jalapeño mule and the tuna poke bowl, and the rest of our party had the fish and chips. My husband ordered a bourbon neat. The waitress told him about a special bottle they had, so he went off her recommendation. The bottle was actually a rye. They had a good conversation about it. My poke bowl was good, but could have used some dressing or additional dressing. The others enjoyed the fish, so good! The Cole slaw and tarter sauce was different. Tarter sauce is very dill-y. We ate out on the patio and had a lovely time.

I gave them 2 stars only because of their recovery attempt, other wise it was 1 star.

We stopped on this past Saturday, mid afternoon. 3 Hostesses on duty, immediate seating at outside patio. But thats when things got bad. It took a full 30 minutes to flag down a waiter. He was no help but he advised the bar manager who dropped by apologizing but said it was a bad time of day because it was shift change time. ( That is not my problem.) After the bad experience started, we paid close attention to how other guest/customers were treated. One guy, sitting at a table alone did not get service for 1 hour! Another couple that came in right after us, just walked out. Another couple, at a table right next to us, got great timely service because after we finally got a waitress, she took care of them too, immediately. What I found especially curious, was the 3 hostesses just kept on seating people, who were not getting served and walking out. I used to own 4 restaurants-and if any of my managers were this clueless;, they would be gone! Also, according to the reviews, this is a repeat problem. That indicates to me, the ownership doesn’t really care and responds to bad reviews with no intent of correcting the problem. The only reason I gave you 2 stars is because once we got attention, the assigned waitress was great and the on duty managers comp’d the drinks. It was comical and a bit disappointing to watch 2 mangers go to various tables to apologize for bad service, apparently once we got someones attention, management started to pay attention! I find it incredible they still work at this establishment, since they have to make excuses for bad shift management and this place exploits their employees by paying them barely $4 per hour and then adds their reported tips to their paycheck to get them up to minimum wage. This is a common practice in Wisconsin, but I think it is based on greed and exploitation. On the other-side of the River, in Minnesota, that practice is illegal. If you are having a hard time hiring employees, perhaps that is why? This was an unfortunate horrible experience, ˆI was ready to walk out after 20 minutes, but my wife is persistent/stubborn. Remember, the only reason you were able to recover was because my wife flagged down a waiter after 30 minutes. I was NOT because someone on your staff noticed the problem. However your hostesses walked right past us, many, many times and did nothing. They just brought in and seated more guests to be ignored/abused.

Had Lunch today on their outdoor patio. The patio is amazing! One of the nicest ones I’ve been to, it overlooks the river, plenty of tables with umbrellas and just very quaint. Great service and the food was absolutely wonderful!

I really enjoyed my visits to Pier 500. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the food was excellent, and the service was attentive and friendly. One of the highlights is the beautiful view of the St. Croix River – it makes the whole dining experience extra special.

The patio is a wonderful place to sit and relax, especially in nice weather. Just keep in mind that during rain or bad weather, the patio is closed.

Overall, a great spot in Hudson – highly recommend! ☀️

I had the Smoked Gouda Nachos and there were hardly any toppings on it. There was a big pile of sour cream and of guacamole on top and tomatoes just in the center and then a little bit of sauce and a little bit of chicken underneath. The outer one third of the nachos didn’t have anything on them. I’ve been here before and it’s been very good. Today’s food was disappointing.

My wife and kids have been going to Pier 500 for several years and have always enjoyed it thoroughly. The past few times we have gone however, it has been seemingly declining in quality all around. Last night was probably our worst experience there. We stopped there on our way home for a quick dinner before getting home. Upon sitting down at 7:15, we placed an order for nachos and brie cheese curds along with 2 kids cheese burgers since my kids were very hungry. It was pretty slow throughout the restaraunt. Our apps didnt come out for 35 minutes. After 35 minutes our apps finally came out. The nachos were luke warm at best and the chips were soggy. Almost like they were sitting for a while. The kids cheese burgers didn't come out for another 15 minutes. Our kids were starving at this point. Once their kids cheeseburgers came out, the kids started eating. Half way through my son eating his burger, I noticed his burger was extremely pink. At least medium rare. Frustrated that he already ate half of this burger, and with us being there for over an hour at this point, I requested that she remake the burger. She said "I will have this remade on the fly" approximately 15 minutes later we were still waiting on his replacement burger. At this point we were past ordering entrees as it was well past 8PM and weren't sure how long an entree would take being as though 2 basic apps and a kids cheeseburger took well over an hour to cook and bring to our table. I hate complaining but did express our frustration to our server. She brought the bill over and told us her manager took 5 dollars off of our bill. After looking at the bill, I noticed that 5 dollars was just the burger that was medium rare. The past few experiences have been slowly declining and this was the breaking point for us. We all agreed it will be a long time before we come back in hopes that things will improve in that time.

My wife and I were in the area because of my brother’s funeral. We stopped in here for lunch because it looked like a great place to de-stress. We were seated on the patio with a view of the St Croix through the trees. Gracia was our waitress and what a joy she was! Bright, personable and with a great smile. The day started getting better. We ordered our food. My wife got walleye tacos and I got the roasted chicken sandwich with chips. Both were amazing! To finish it off, because it was my birthday, we shared the banana cream pie. Candied bananas with Bavarian cream, whipped cream and a chocolate fudge type sauce. Heaven! Pier 500 and Gracia were exactly what we needed! Thank you!

So, the food is good, but I think for the price the portions are small when it comes to breakfast. Lol, you are paying for the atmosphere. If your ok with that then Pier 500 is where you want to be. They say location is everything and Pier 500 has that nailed. Just across from the public park and a very short walk to the dike road that used to be the old crossing from Minnesota to Wisconsin. Pier 500 is located right there. Many people enjoy walking the road to it's end where Sandy beaches attached to the St. Croix River are waiting. There are also walking paths across from Pier 500. Many people like to people watch as they dinner out on the patio and Pier 500 gives you that opportunity.

It was a perfect day for outdoor dining across from the St. Croix River where we met another couple for lunch. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl with neatly arranged “almond island” rice, carrots, cucumbers, edamame, radishes, avocado, and ginger wasabi dressing. When it an arrived, it was an ample portion, and I couldn’t see the dressing, but our server assured me it was in there. I discovered that they pour the dressing on the bottom and cover it with arugula lettuce then placed the other veggies and tuna on top of that. I wouldn’t have prepared it that way because I had to stir it all together to get the dressing mixed in. I also wouldn’t have ordered this salad knowing it had arugula, which is not traditional, and a variety I don’t like because it has a funky flavor that does not complement the other ingredients. I did not taste the ginger or wasabi in the dressing so for these reasons, it was slightly disappointing, however the tuna was quite fresh!

Date night with my wife. We sat on the patio which has a breathtaking view. The crusted walleye was delicious and the from scratch tartar sauce was as good as Mama's.

We asked for a nice intimate romantic table, and they give us a real noisy one.. And not many choices for somebody with allergies to see oils and dairy ask for my Vegetable to be cooked longer and came back they weren’t cooked longer so he had to wait. We had to eat our fish without our vegetable which was wrong. Do you think they would’ve compensated a little bit?…

Food was ok. Seating service was terrible. We had no reservation, told a 30 minute wait inside, immediate seating outside. We chose outside and asked for a table in the shade. At the time it was very warm and sunny, 93f. We were led to a table for two in full sun. We asked again for a shaded table, which looking around, there were 20+ available two and four tables in the shade. We were shown a partially shaded table for two by a busy door. We chose to stay in full sun. I asked again to move after drinks were brought and was told, sorry there was nothing they can do. After baking in the sun and a very uncomfortable meal the waiter asked how was everything. I looked around and noticed the still empty 20+ tables in the shade and asked why we were not able to move. He apologized and said there was nothing he can do, it was their system. Next time in Hudson, WI, I would suggest finding another restaurant that has customer comfort as part of their system.

I also tried the onion soup, which at first I didn't think was going to be that good. It turned out to be delicious. I wish the croutons were crunchy. No refills were ever offered—not even for water. Despite this delay, the staff repeatedly reminded us that our reservation time was running out, yet refused to let us order food.

To make matters worse, we confirmed in advance that we could bring a birthday cake and were told there would be no charge as long as we brought our own plates. But when the time came, our waiter rudely interrupted to inform us there would be a $1.50 charge per person—even though we had brought our own plates, just as instructed. Completely unprofessional and disappointing.

I’ve heard great things about the food here, but honestly, no quality of food can make up for such poor service. This was a special occasion, and they made it feel like an inconvenience. Won’t be coming back.

Never even ate the food. We asked for a table in the shade and a group was just getting up. They asked us to wait until the table was cleared and go back to the hostess stand until it was ready. Finally led to a table and it wasn’t the one we were waiting for and another party was at the table. Walked out and went to Mallory’s. Excellent service and wonderful food.

We’ve often eaten here have done their brunches for Mother’s Day, Easter, etc. but we are sadly disappointed in our last visit. Our food came cold and the service was extremely slow. We had to wait quite a while before we even got waters were very disappointed. We sat in the bar area and granted it was fairly busy as it always is, but we didn’t have reservations and we didn’t have to wait so it wasn’t that busy After paying well over $50 for a nice steak and glass of wine to have it come out cold and somewhat bland was a disappointment. I think their business especially in the summer is mostly for the patio on the river, but there are so many other better options for the price of food and then just hit the patio for a drink, but skip the food. If you want a great meal of a nice steak on an awesome patio with a bar walk just a little bit up the street to Mallory‘s and their rooftop patio however, you can’t make reservations up there. It’s first come first serve but if you can do it, it’s awesome. Just try hitting it at 5 o’clock and you usually can get in but if you go anytime after that on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday, you likely aren’t gonna get the patio.

What a wonderful dining experience Pier 500 was on our bucket list vacation this spring. Darlena's knowledge of Pier 500 's menu was spot on. Very gracious with her service. The chicken was smoked and seasoned to perfection. The pork chops were perfectly cooked. I like my meat well done. They were cooked well done but still were juicy. I could taste the maple glazing on them. They were served with fresh, fire roasted apples that were like a taste of heaven. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming.

Food was good overall, except a hair in the salad… Server was not attentive at all, probably visited the table only 4-5 times throughout the night and was gone for about a half an hour. Did not clear dirty dishes/glasses in a timely manner. Worst part happened when paying the bill. Receipt was 30 dollars more expensive after it came back from being charged to the card! Don't know how this happened but very disappointed that the issue came about at all.

Tried to get order to go since we had our dog with we where just passing through town . The young girl that was seating guest told us they don't do food to go was kind of rude. Especially since there was a sign right next to the steps we walked up stating it was a pick up lane . Guess I was surprised we where turned away .

Visited on 05/10/25 with a reservation for 6 at 1:00 PM.
I arrived at 12:40 PM and informed the host that we would have one additional guest. She assured me it wouldn’t be an issue and we’d still be seated at 1:00 PM as planned. I checked back in at 1:00 PM and was told the table would be ready in 5 minutes. I waited outside and eventually returned to ask how I’d know when the table was ready. That’s when she mentioned she could send a text notification—something that would have been helpful to know earlier to avoid the back and forth.

By 1:10 PM, I still hadn’t received a text, so I approached the host again. She was in conversation with someone who seemed to be a friend, based on their exchange. When I asked, she responded, “I was just about to text you.” We were finally seated, but it took another 20 minutes before a server came to take our order.

The food itself was excellent, and I would definitely return and recommend it to others. However, I wouldn’t suggest this place for special occasions, as the staff doesn’t appear to have the experience to handle higher-capacity situations smoothly.

Pier 500 was our first outdoor dining for 2025 and it didn't disappoint. The view of the St. Croix River was absolutely beautiful. Some restaurants overcharge and/ or have subpar food when they offer such a great view, as they know people will want to eat there anyways, but Pier 500 exceeded expectations. We went there for brunch, and both of us got the "All-American" entree. It was only $14, so we were very happy with the price, especially with the "egg-flation" currently happening in the US. The eggs themselves were average/ didn't seem to be seasoned and the toast was good/ average, but, the hash browns and sausage were well above average and quite tasty. Some restaurants give huge portions so you need a to-go box, but Pier 500 gave us the perfect amount, so we were full, but not overly stuffed. This is important if you want to stroll through the steets of Hudson afterwards to look in the shops. There's free parking on Sundays, but it can be a bit of a walk. We recommend this restaurant and are excited to try some of the other Hudson restaurants, too.

Just what we needed, after being on the road all day during our 30th wedding anniversary. It was Sunday night, I'm sure the staff "loved" to see us walk in about 8:30pm.

The flavor profile of everything we ate was Amazing! The Nachos made every other nacho we've ever eaten seem unworthy by comparison. Flavor perfection.

We've been going to Pier since it opened, but tonight we commemorated the night we met. 33 years ago. Right here. We didn't make a big deal of it, but the manager did. Our server, Sophia was top notch and recommended meals that we hadn't tried yet. Both meals were amazing. Huge thanks to Pier and their staff for always making it an incredible meal. You guys are the best!
