As we left not wanting to wait that long, an older couple came to the host as we left and were told we have a table for you and we're immediately seated! Maybe we weren't "their preferred" demographic ! Will never know and will never go back. Going to drive over to our casino instead!

My fiancé and I traveled to Bayfield for a weeks vacation in August, and stopped by the Pier Plaza Restaurant twice! The outside patio is awesome and so are the bloodys. Would highly recommend!

Went here for July 4th fireworks. The location is good that it’s right next to the harbor. I did find street parking spots not too long driving around. Didn’t see public parking though.

Our experience here wasn't great. We had to wait about 45 minutes to be seated on a weeknight, which is what it is-that happens and we know the restaurant can't control how long we wait. However, once we were seated and ordered it took another ~45 minutes for our food to come out. Once we finally had our food, it was a huge letdown.

The protein bowl was nearly inedible-the only reason I ate any of it was because I was so hungry. It was a very strange mix of flavorless black beans, slimy edamame, plain white rice, and flavorless sweet potatoes, topped off with a few drizzles of a weird sauce and (what I think was) a Beyond Burger. I've been a vegetarian for over 30 years and I've never had something quite this weird and truly gross. Please take it off the menu.

My husband's pasta dish wasn't much better--it was pasta with a rather flavorless sauce with a whole bunch of powdered Cajun seasoning on top of it. He also had the Brussels sprouts and they were bad-complete mush.

We did have really good French fries!

Honestly, this restaurant should probably just stick to fish and meat and forget the vegetarian dishes. From other reviews, it seems that their fish dishes are great. So if you're looking for meat/fish (and French fries!) maybe give it a try. If you're looking for vegetarian options, definitely try somewhere else.

We stopped here after getting off of the Apostle Islands Cruise and had a very good meal. We started the meal with a bloody mary and cheese curds. The cheese curds were excellent. The breading was crispy and not greasy. The ranch was extremely good. The bloody mary was very good as well. For the meal, we had the white fish po boy and the fish tacos. The po boy was a very generous portion of fresh whitefish, fried perfectly. It had coleslaw to provide a creamy, crunchy texture, and the bang bang sauce on it tied it all together perfectly!
The fish tacos were very good. They were pretty spicy. The fish was blackened well, but you could still taste the fresh fish. The kimchi provided a spicy acidity to the dish, and the tortillas were charred perfectly.
I highly recommend stopping in here and trying some of their fresh fish dishes when in Bayfield.

It goes by 2 different names, kind of confusing for someone out of town. My wife and I went there for a beer and a bite to eat. We ended up not ordering food, due to the very limited menu. If you wanted white fish this is the place for you. We ordered a beer and looked at the menu and decided to go elsewhere. I also noticed another couple did the same thing, they ordered drinks looked at the menu, asked the waitress a lot of questions and decided not to eat as well.

It was a Sunday night and it wasn't very crowded in town and it was a 45 minute wait for a table on the patio which was very nice there is a view of the lake and a view of the city that's very pretty. We waited another 35 minutes for a white fish plate and some chicken wings that were nothing special. I guess the view was about it.

We ate at 12:00 on a Thursday in Sept. 2023. It was beautiful weather so we ate on the deck.

Janine was our wait staff. She really made our experience the best. Her communication was clear and positive. She was professional and on top of her game. We heard her working at the tables next to us too. Even someone with a rather demanding tone was listening to and served with a dignified service. All were satisfied and content thanks to her genuine attention.

I'm sure the other staff must be good too or Janine would not of had the support to be successful. Hurray Plaza staff.

My husband and I went for dinner on a Sunday night upon our arrival. to Bayfield. Lucky they were open as most places were NOT open on a Sunday! We had to wait about 30 minutes which was fine. Bonus was the "table ready" buzzer had a radius of 3 blocks so we checked in and then walked around town while we waited for our table. Service was excellent and food was wonderful! The outdoor patio overlooks the Bayfield Marina area. The have a full menu with lots of options and scoop ice cream at a window outside for those hoping for dessert on the way out!

I ordered the steak frites and it arrived with a thick layer of the chimchurri and it was not warm at all. The fries were soggy with the steak on top and the beans were over cooked. My husband got the fish which he said was good but the mashed potatoes were lumpy. Service was pretty good, but not really the fine dining experience we were looking for.

The food is outstanding, but our service was out of this world. Abbi provided fast and friendly service with a phenomenal attitude. Two little kids and four adults. She made the little ones feel like they were the only customers in the place. Stopped several times and spoke with them. Doesn’t sound like much but the place was packed. Will definitely be stopping back in, I suggest you stop as well.

We come to Bayfield once a summer and we usually stay at Pier Plaza lodging in rooms with the patios right on Rittenhouse looking out to Lake Superior. The bar and restaurant are fabulous too. Bartender Jody is one of our favorites and one of the reasons we come back year after year!

Based on reviews, we expected better. Sorta wanted to say serve what you advertise. The homemade chips for the nachos are just that..homemade potato chips. (Sorry, I guess I was expecting homemade tortilla chips when it came to nachos) not much shredded chicken on said nachos either. The poutine was not bad however pretty sure they served pot roast instead of brisket. Or they just really overcooked the brisket. The experience killed it for me to try the fish fry.

We delighted in the pork shank appetizer (will not disappoint) and throughly enjoyed every schnibble of the Berry Barrette with seared tuna salad. I ordered the blackened whitefish sandwich and it was perfectly cooked. Our waitress, Tony recommended the garlic caper lemon sauce to go with it and it was delicious! My friend got the impossible burger and really enjoyed it.
The fries and sweet potato fries were perfectly crispy. I would recommend the garlic caper sauce instead of the creamy horseradish sauce with the sweet potato fries. It was the best meal we’ve had in Bayfield so far.
They also welcome dogs on the deck which was very helpful to us.

My husband and I were recently in Bayfield, visiting the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Based on reviews, we decided to eat lunch at the Pier Plaza, and we’re so glad we did!

The Pier Plaza restaurant is inside the Pier Plaza hotel, right on the water’s edge. It’s a lovely old building that’s been around since the 50s and has the perfect waterfront ambience. We were able to nab a table by the windows and could watch the traffic at the marina. Our server was Janine, who was friendly and helpful and genuinely happy to see us. My husband had the Cobb salad, and I had the smoked trout naan pizza, which was absolutely DELICIOUS! It was “brown sugar-cured smoked Lake Superior trout with caramelized onions, bleu cheese, sliced grape tomatoes and a balsamic drizzle on baked naan bread” and was simply, utterly HEAVENLY. I’m so glad I tried it!

Every staff member at the Pier Plaza was friendly and welcoming, and made our meal that much more enjoyable. Thanks to everyone for a memorable lunch in such a lovely setting!

Absolutely loved this place! From when we walked in very nice waitress. Our drinks were amazing my husband ordered a drink it was huge! We got chicken nachoes Absolutely amazing. We got stake thinking it would only be about a 8oz we were completely wrong. We got about a 16.0z stake with sides. The stake was so juicy and tender best stake ive ever had. We even had enough to make a entire meal 5he next morning. By far the best place to eat in bayfiled.

I sat at the bar, very kind and helpful bartender. It's very cozy but well kept. They had a few local/regional beers and all the typical ones as well. I got the Whitefish Cakes per the bartender's recommendation which were unique and very good! I also got the "Trifecta" sandwich. A little too much bread for my liking, but still worth it!

Pretty good food and chill atmosphere! If you order a bloody mary, you get a small beer with your order, which was much appreciated. Our guide from the Apostle Island Cruise recommended that we get white fish anywhere in town because it's always super fresh. My sister ordered the fish and chips and it did not disappoint!

Wow. I’m writing this review while stuffed full of delicious food, smooth beer, and great vibes! My wife (who I married just 11 days ago) and I spent the afternoon on Lake Superior kayaking on a tour led by Skylar, a polite and knowledgeable young gentleman. We saw this place prior to the tour and came back for dinner. Initially we were put on a waiting list for an hour and decided to get some card games from the car and wait by the park. On our way back from the car our buzzer went off. The window said their fish fry was in the top 10 in Wisconsin, so of course we had to try it. Even though it’s Wednesday we still feel we got the full fish fry experience with fried whitefish and broiled Brown Trout (Skylar’s recommendation). Both were delicious and their garlic mashed potatoes with gravy were out of this world. They also had my favorite beer on tap - Mudpuppy Porter from Central Waters at a great price! Huge thanks to our server Frank for the food and drink recommendations and great service! To top it all off I got to enjoy this meal with the beautiful views of the lake and my wife! Make sure to stop in if you’re in the area!

I cannot say anything about the food because we left. Service was horrible. Staff was rude. We were just two people and wanted to sit outside. The server said they had a party waiting on that table to sit outside, but there were no people in sight. He got very rude with us. We told him we were leaving and he said, “Well, that’s how it is in the restaurant business.” It’s ok though- we ended up at Deep Water Grille, which is about 20 minutes from this place. That was the BEST decision ever. The food is amazing at Deep Water Grille. Our server was amazing and their chef is too. Try the fried whitefish. You won’t regret it.

Waited over 2 hours with a pager tonite. Ordered the surf and turf (most expensive item on the menu) and the steak was so cold the maple bacon butter that they put on top didn’t melt at all. Everything else on the plate was hot but not my steak. My friend ordered the fries with his meal and got a day old overcooked baked potato. When I told the waitress of my meals condition, she didn’t seem to really care at all. I’ve eaten there many times over the past 15 years, and it was always a great experience. Not this time! Perhaps it’s post covid or something that is causing the decline in service and quality. I’ll give them another chance, but probably not till later in the season.

Had Whitefish and chips and it was very good the service excellent Gorgia was a super server. The busboy Lake was acrobatic and helpful as he added entertainment when he gracefully slipped and fell forward with 3 full water glasses and managed to not get hurt (Thank God) and not break the glasses and hardly spill the water! The food and service was so good we returned again for dinner later in the week. Best spot in Bayfield

Amazing if you can get a spot on the deck! May seem overpriced or not worth it so close to the marina but it’s incredible! Especially good if you like large portions. Their homemade white sangria was the best! Well seasoned and fresh fish. So many choices for large groups. You’ll leave satisfied!

Excellent food, great view, and wonderful service! I had the ahi tuna bowl and it was absolutely incredible! My friend had the chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and loved it as well. This was the only restaurant in Bayfield where we truly enjoyed our food.
