After being told of a two hour wait at a nearby pizza place, we decided to try PJ'S Burger Barn, and it was absolutely excellent! As we pulled into the lot, we were hit immediately with the amazing aroma of grilled burgers. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and seated immediately. I had a Western burger, and the rest of the family split a pizza. All were delicious! I don't know why it took so long for us to discover PJ'S. It's going to become a regular stop on our vacations from now on.

The bar can provide a wide variety of drinks. There are dozens of burger choices. Staff are friendly and seem to enjoy their job. However, when burgers were served to our party of 2. The burgers were freshly made but served cold and not considered traditional form with the ciabatta buns used. It looked and tasted like something from a fast food establishment instead of a place that specializes in burgers. First time here. The smells are amazing. I have to say the burger menu is pretty awesome. I had the sticky burger and Chippers. Homemade potato chips and they are so yummy!! The burger was very tasty and flavorful. Also had the walleye fingers those were really good as well not to thick of breading. Backyard games and patio seating. Only two picnic tables and stools along the other side of the deck.
They do have a bar as well which is tucked in looks nice.

We were excited to try this place—it smelled incredible, and we walked in ready to spend and enjoy ourselves. But apparently having two kids in high chairs was too much for them. We were told it would block the aisle and that “my boss will get mad,” but honestly, it felt like the staff just didn’t want us there. The vibe was clear: families with young kids aren’t welcome. It’s a shame, because it probably is a great place—just not if you’re bringing anything less than a perfectly curated adult dining party. Two stars because it smelled like somewhere worth eating. Too bad we’ll never know.

Went with a large group on a weeknight. The restaurant was busy, but they were able to accommodate us. We stayed outside and played until our food was ready. They have a large outside play space great for families with small children or large groups. The staff are very friendly and will go out of their way to accommodate. Very kid-friendly. Never had bad food at this place and been there twice since the remodel. Always great service from owner as well as staff. Lara was our server last nite and we laughed and enjoyed some quick banter and she took good care of us. Had the fish fry of course, for Friday and a darker amber beer Riverside (?) that was very smooth, almost like a honey blend in it, with no bitter aftertaste. The fish (cod) was excellent and even sweet potato fries were crispy (some places have them but they're soggy). 2 piece fry is $13.95, 3 pc $15.95. Served with choice of soup or cole slaw and choice of potatoes. 2 PCs are filling enough if you have the soup as they also serve warm soft bread sticks with butter. Or get 3 pcs and split the third between 2 people. Remodeled nicely inside with option to sit on a small deck to view Brandy Lake or sit at the bar and watch sports, or a nice booth/table. We also had a $15 certificate to use, bought off a dining discount site offer. We sat down right away as it was a later than usual, time for us, at 7:30 pm. We are locals so rarely go out to area restaurants in the summer months. You either go very early or later after the busy period of 5-7pm, esp on a Friday night.

My dad and I went today for the last Fish Fry of the year. We each ordered the $12.95 fish fry (2 fairly large pieces of beer battered deep fried fish - about 1.5"x1"x5.5") and ordered an extra piece for an extra $2. With included fries and a bowl of clam chowder I could barely finish it all. Dad couldn't even eat all of his.

The fish was excellent. Cooked perfectly and very mild flavor. The fries were solid. The chowder had good flavor but consistency was really thick, more like homemade jam than soup, which was a little off-putting but in the end the solid flavor won out for me.

Service was excellent. Really friendly, fun, and polite waitress who checked in with us frequently. Food came quickly.

Atmosphere was Northwoods perfect. Very casual. The interior is all knotty pine and rustic. We were seated in a booth in the back with a perfect view of the lake behind the restaurant. Got to watch a gorgeous sunset as an eagle flew by (not making that up) while we waited for our food. It was November, but there is a patio out back with horseshoe pits for summertime. There is a bar but we didn't take advantage of it.

Overall I really enjoyed my experience and it was a great value. $33 for 2 meals and a beverage, plus another meal from the 2 pieces we took home as leftovers. Note: the place is obviously a burger joint first and foremost and had like 15 different burgers on the menu.

This is my first visit in a few years, and I have to say that I will definitely be back. We were a group of 6 people, and we all thought our meals were great. If you like burgers you need to come here, there are so many choices, you are sure to find one that you will love.

After a weekend up north, coming home on Labor Day most places were either closed or ridiculously busy. The burger barn caught our attention so we pulled in. There was no wait, our host was welcoming and informative. Our waitress was so sweet. But honestly the burgers were 10/10, best burgers we’ve had at a restaurant. My husband said “we’re gonna have to remember this place next time we’re up” Can’t wait to be back, and it really has me wondering why this place wasn’t packed to the gills. During our 7/23 vacation, my party of four decided to dine at this restaurant. Upon seating, the staff informed us that the service might be a bit slower than usual, which we understood and accepted. Throughout our meal, the service remained pleasant and attentive.

Now, onto the food. I opted for the cheese bacon burger with onion rings, and while it was tasty enough, there were a couple of disappointments. Firstly, the cheese wasn't melted onto the burger as it should have been. Instead, it was simply placed on top of the bacon and onion rings, and it didn't even melt properly. For a classic burger experience, melted cheese is a must.

On the positive side, the bun was fresh, but I couldn't help but wish it had been toasted or griddled to add that extra dimension of flavor and texture. The fries were also hot from the frier and very good.

Overall, the burger was decent, but it didn't quite meet my expectations. The lack of melted cheese and toasted bun took away from the overall burger goodness. While the service was commendable, I don't think this burger is one that would make me return for another visit.

The food was not bad really. Was not worth what they charge but the reason for a 2 star is It was more of what I expected for a $50 lunch. I got the Ruben burger expecting to have real corned beef to only be let down seeing lunch meat style corned beef they sell at stores for under $1. (Didn't know till I got back to the house to eat. So I couldn't really order anything new). I told them I wanted a well done burger it was medium cooked. And the toppings on it well there was not much at all. Then to top things off instead of giving me a normal burger they upcharged me every burger I bought for a half pound burger (might have been good for a dinner but not lunch) and I didn't ask them to upcharge it. So the 2 stars is all I think they deserve.

Food: literally everything was underseasoned (PLEASE let your cooks know that they're allowed to use salt!!). Having said that, other than lack of seasoning, the food was pretty good.

Service was great - we sat outside with a nice view of the lake and our server was very attentive.

You will not find a cheaper fish fry in the Minocqua area! Good bang for your buck.

Clam chowder: the flavor was good but it was the consistency of jello. Please thin out of the clawlm chowder to be less weird.

We didn't order burgers, but good note for any non-beef eaters that all their burgers are able to sub grilled chicken in for.

Stopped in for lunch today, first time customers and had heard a good review to stopped in. Place is currently being remodeled inside and out, the new finishes and design is really nice and done well, that’s a plus. Service was incredibly slow, I felt bad for the waitress as she seemed to be the hostess, waitress, and bartender for the whole place and was very busy. Unfortunately we ordered drinks, then came incorrect, and we didn’t get the waters we asked for. The food, wasn’t good food, took about an hour from ordering the food till we got it, some food was cold, some didn’t have correct toppings, and just in general was not impressed. Owner happened to walk by and could sense we didn’t exactly love the food, asked multiple times why, almost begged us to explain what wasn’t right and said would make adjustments to our bill. She admitted she doesn’t have a large grill so sometimes orders can take awhile.

I hope with the remodel finished, and additional staff they can make corrections and offer better service and food, just unfortunately today they weren’t at there best and won’t be getting us to return any time soon.

Only redeeming things here were the deep fried food and bloody marys. Really expected more from a place that specializes in burgers.

THEY ARE CLOSED FOR THE SEASON!!! :(
went there a year ago and it was delicious so was looking forward to eating there again, and pulled in and there was a sign that said closed for the season, with a big dumpster and stuff everywhere, so i’m assuming they are doing some remodeling? but when they are open 10/10 would recommend

I had my friends bring me a cheesesteakHamburger it was over cooked to a hockey puck, had no cheese on it onions and green peppers where still raw, my dogs ate most of it.
I called to tell them about it and a man answered l started to tell him about it and he hung up on me, the call was not dropped l heard the phone hit the receiver
