We had the french onion soup, baked cod and eggplant primigara. Everything was really good taste wise - left wishing for pasta with the eggplant.

We came here for Firefest 2025 and it was very tasty pizza, our waitress was the best waitress ever, I believe her name was Caitlin idk if I spelled it right but she was very good at her job, she needs a raise. The restaurant is in a good location and has a nice patio outside where you can sit when the weathers nice and the overall feel of the building is very homy and comfy, good job guys and keep making good food.

Very nice! Our sister too us here for a week-end visit, and both the food and service were delightful despite going there at a fqirly busy time. :) Service was fast, we booked ahead to avoid door wait times as a large group and it was very easy.

Stopped here with my daughter after wedding dress shopping. The food was not good at all, the pizza sauce was brown, French onion soup was bland the topping was burnt. Bruschetta was blah, pizza was not good. We paid bill and left the containers of leftovers behind. Once we left and on our path 1.5 hours home I noticed that my new white shoes had a huge brown stain on it. I called and was told they just stained their chairs, and that the owner Charles would rectify it, send him pictures. He gave me the ownerβs number I proceeded to take pictures of the shoe with its mate to show theyβre close to new, Iβve told him that I thought a reasonable solution would be to refund me half of what I paid for $70 shoes. I have called Charles twice and texted him and he refuses to contact me back. So what we thought was going to be a nice little dinner over some Woodfire pizza turned into over $180 of lost money on food that wasnβt good and shoes that were ruined and the owner canβt even be respectful and at least find a solution. Our server was, it was her first night and although you can understand that, We had little to no service.

My wife and I have been subscribed as foodies π€ and such, I would say that this quaint little restaurant was quite impressive. We tried the goat cheese and fig woodfired pizza, which was quite amazing! Additionally , I also tasted my sonβs order of the Garlic Chicken and his girlfriendβs order of fettuccine Alfredoβ both of which were delicious.

Update: You NEVER know when this place will be open, it's run like a hobby and NOT a business. Went for brunch today, great experience. Very nice cozy atmosphere with excellent food and wonderful friendly service provided by Aysha. She kept checking on us and kept the delicious coffee coming. If you are looking for a great brunch experience look no further. (If they are open)

My mom and I went here for dinner after picking up my bridal gown across the street, we had an amazing experience! Our server was very accommodating and friendly, he certainly made us feel welcomed and cared for. The chef also came up to our table to check in with us to see how everything was tasting, very personable! Iβve never had this great of a restaurant experience EVER! Definitely will be back, and highly recommend to anyone looking for a delicious meal and cozy place to visit.

Went on a Saturday night kinda close to closing time. Ordered drinks, apps, and entreesβfood and service was amazing. Portion sizes are generous and the taste was worth the travel here. Everything is fresh, delicious, and made with love (yes you can taste how much the staff care). Their restaurant is under construction so Iβm excited to go back and see how they update it!

Great place. Cozy atmosphere. Fish fry was awesome (one visit). Prime rib was perfect (second visit). Great drink options if you like a good bourbon or rum specialty drink. Fire pit outside was going both times we visited. Love the charred wood smell. Would be a good place to sit outside and enjoy a drink by the fire.

First time visiting looked at menus online and on website but meno given to us was completely different we were expecting to order shrimp not an option. Saw our waitress 4 times and can't remember her name. Food was great and if you go away hungry that's in you. My only complaint is our waitress she brought the food and never saw her till we were done. Needed to get hostess to get more water. Place wasn't busy they had another server in our room but she was busy taking care of her clients (5 tables) we were out servers only table in back. Can't say I would return any time soon. On recommendations from some people we met today at another local shop in Cambridge we decided to have our anniversary dinner at the Plow. What a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere, service (thank you Natalie) and the food were definitely worth the hype that we heard about earlier in the day. Everything from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we walked out of the door was wonderful. The food was of great quality and was very delicious. The service was very courteous, attentive and answered all of our inquiries (thank you Natalie) and the ambience was terrific. I would highly recommend the Plow for an exceptional dining experience. We will definitely be back again and again.

I was given a lovely gift card from
My bosses at Madison Smile Solutions. It was a little bit out of the way so we procrastinated using it. Iβm sorry we waited so long! I love the old mill that houses the restaurant. The food was a great mix of classy yet simple at this farm to table gem. Iβll have to come back during the summer when the farmers market is in full swing again. The fish fry was really good!!! I wished the menu was more discriptive to help me choose something different next time. We will be back.

The service is fast and all of the staff is superb. The food⦠oh my. Delicious! They bring their farm to your table! Farm grown vegetables and farm raised livestock!
We had the lamb curry and the smoked prime rib. Both were amazing! Everything was cooked to ordered and hot!

If youβre in Cambridge be sure to check out the Plow restaurant! So quaint inside with the fire going and the pizza oven stoked you get a very cozy feeling, along with great food! Old Crystal Chandeliers hang over tables in the back dining area that will all the wood feels like a stable. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and the menu had a lot of good choices making it hard to pick one thing! Walking in across the large patio with lots of tables and chairs I know Iβll be back in warm weather one day!

Rarely can you find a proper blend of heritage, history, cuisine, architecture and great ownership. Our dinner was prepared perfectly, seasoned well and served hot. The menu offered a well rounded bill of fare with items to suit a wide variety of palates. The wood-fired oven provides offerings of breads and pizzas, all well prepared. The bar is well appointed and serviced by attentive and extremely talented bartenders. The "from scratch" margaritas are a bullseye! The open kitchen is visible from the front dining room and is very organized, bright, clean and well managed. Cheesecake is a classic dessert that was a great finish. To say that we recommend "Plow" would be an understatement. You owe it to yourself to experience Plow. Go to relax, enjoy great conversation, slow your pace, relax and dine. Superb job and many, many KUDOS to the staff and owners of the PLOW on a job well done. Keep up the top notch job. Again, KUDOS!!!

Appetizer arrived before the drinks which took 20 minutes. The pate we had was dry. The flavor was ok and the toast points were good but the pate needed seasoning and moisture. We could see our entrees sitting in the window for a long time so when we got it, it was cold. We ordered fried chicken and fish fry. Shoestring fries were chewy and cold. The waitress took our food back and we believe the food was dropped in the fryer to reheat. So the chicken was dried out and over fried and the fish completely fell apart, but at least it was hot. The plates were so full it was hard to eat the food without spilling it onto the table. The bill came quickly. There are quite a few good fish frys in the area at lower prices. We won't go back to Plow.

The Chef owner was friendly. A younger staff that seemed a bit nervous. We dined on their patio on a recent Friday night. The dishes werenβt the best that night. The short rib was over cooked. The fry oil was aged past useable and some of the Catfish was not fried all the way through. The large dinner salad looked to be thrown together without any love. The inside was nice and cozy. The patio needed some TLC. Overall, I hope this place steps it up because they have a cool story and have the potential to be better.
It could have been an off night but it was a summer Friday night.

My partner and I were in the area on a little day trip and decided to stop and grab a bite. And oh my goodnessβ¦This place is absolutely beautiful inside!
I love how modern it is and everything they did with the design. Itβs a great location too. We didnβt have reservation so we sat at the bar for about 15 minutes until we had a table. I ordered a Raspberry Mojito and it was DELISH! It had pretty mint leaves and raspberries at the bottom. It tasted a little tart but the flavor blended so well! The bartender was a very friendly womanπ
Once we were seated in the back I truly fell in love with the atmosphere! But the service became pretty slow. I would have ordered another drink but our waitress wasnβt around. I also wasnβt able to get a water refill until after my meal so I started sipping on my partners.
I enjoyed my meal but the NY strip was very salty and I wanted to get some steak sauce. However the waitress did not come back until way later so I ended up just getting about half of my meal to go. I had ordered my baked potato without sour cream so it just had cheese on it. I think I would have liked a little butter on it but the waitress didnβt come back so I never got a chance to ask for that either.
The staff was friendly but our waitress wasnβt really around and that made our dinner not as enjoyable as it could have been. There was another server there that seemed like she was very involved and very attentive so maybe it was just bad luck. I would still like to go back and give it another try if I am in the area, and I would still recommend others give this place a try if theyβre passing through. Hopefully my experience was just an off day and if I go back and have a more positive experience Iβll edit & adjust my review.

We genuinely enjoyed our first experience at Plow.
Myself and my partner did not have reservations for a busy Easter Sunday brunch. Although we were sat promptly at the bar which we were very happy with. Our gratitude for the outstanding customer service started at the door. Service behind the bar was just as exceptional. We enjoyed a Pate, Lox and Charcuterie Board, cocktails, main courses, and dessert. The Chicken Cordon Bleu really stands out here.
Two thumbs up for ambiance, service, and food quality.
Thank you, Plow team. Your team is top notch. This place is a true gem. I can't wait to enjoy future meals here.

I was really disappointed as I wanted to like this restaurant. Despite there being only one other 4 top when we arrived, it took a long time to get our drinks (orange juice and lemonade) and close to 40 minutes for bland onion rings. We watched our entrees sit in the window for about 10 minutes before they were brought to us, and at this point we had been waiting over an hour. We heard the chef speaking rather aggressively to the staff and it wasnβt professional. The wait staff was mostly standing around waiting for the kitchen, except for when they filled water or brought dirty plates from other tables over while they picked up ours. The food was warm-ish but very bland and it didnβt seem that the hollandaise had any seasoning whatsoever. My daughters mac and cheese was fettuccine noodles which was odd. It was the worst $100 lunch meal Iβve ever had and we wonβt be back.

Remember, this is a farm-to-table, so some menu choices may not be available. Appetizers are generous portions. Onion rings tasted fresh, but the breading was overbearing. Bruschetta is a definite must-have! French onion soup and clam chowder were bland--I heard the soups are always a hit, so it may have been an off night. Delicious cod, but again, the amount of breading detracted from the food. My dining partner disagreed with me regarding OR and cod breading. Food was served hot! Service: As I watched the movement in the restaurant--diners seemed happy, enjoying their time. The servers sometimes seemed to lose focus and make small but noticeable errors. Knowing the current state of finding employees, I would say the servers were reasonably new but did a very good job. Hospitality and restaurant are challenging positions to hire. We're patient because we enjoy dining out and understand the struggles. Tip well too.

This was our 5th time coming to Plow but our first time coming for brunch and we ended up leaving after waiting for our food for over an hour. We had a clear shot of the kitchen and could see and hear the chef yelling at the staff over mediocre trivial things instead of focusing on getting the food out in a timely fashion. This is a small town restaurant and we care about how you treat your staff and the chef should honestly be ashamed of himself. This is not the first time we have heard him yelling at the staff but it is the first time we have left and sadly I do not think we will be returning. Food looked good but we never got a chance to eat it since somehow our order which was one of five got lost and after an hour of waiting we realized he hadnβt started it so we left.

The only saving grace here was the food. Perfectly cooked and flavorful. Service was not good and slow. Had to ask for silverware, napkins, bread, and plates. Waitress did not know the menu or the chef's vegetable of the day. Everything took a long time even though it did not seem that busy. The inside looks cool and has a lot of character. However, there was a cold draft coming through the windows making it uncomfortable. Thankfully the food was hot.

I met my daughter, her sister, and her mom here for Sunday Brunch. We didn't see many options in the Cambridge area, and this place seemed to have a decent menu.
I was first turned off by there only being street-side parking, no parking lot. The exterior looks nice, and it seems like there is plenty of space out front for activities or bands to play when the weather is warmer.
We were seated in a corner booth by windows that you could feel the cool winter breeze blowing through. The heat kicked on a few minutes later and we warmed up for a bit until it turned off again. We were dressed pretty warm so it wasn't a huge deal.
The menu was a two-sided cardstock with a pretty good variety for kids, breakfast and lunch options. I love that they're a farm-to-table operation, and that they support local farmers!
It took about 5-10 minutes to be asked for our order, and 5 minutes after that to get one mimosa, and another 5 minutes after that to get one orange juice. The food was brought out nearly 40 minutes after we ordered (eggs benedict, 2x grilled salmon salads, and a la carte eggs/bacon/sausage). We were surprised at that wait because there were not many people in the restaurant at that time, though there was a back area that we didn't see so maybe that had a large party in it.
Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive, and apologized for the delay. Overall, not a bad experience, and the food was great though, so possibly worth the wait.

PLOW is amazingβ¦again! We took a group of 6 for a dinner party. Food was outstanding. Service was great, knowledgeable, great recommendations.Good wine and beer menu. We didnβt have cocktails, but they looked good too. Marguerite pizza wonderful. Super thin crunchy crust and fresh ingredients. Other pizza choices are interesting if you like gourmet pizzas. All of the entrees we had and apps were great. Everything served together and in a timely manner, which is difficult in these times. The menu is very interesting with super gourmet choices but also some standard fare items like fish and chips, beautifully prepared (we chose catfish) the salmon was cooked to perfection and the prawn dish was really tasty. Good choices for vegetarians and gluten free options too. Love the atmosphere, all the chandeliers (a bit bright!) but cool dichotomy against the stone mill interior. Chefβs specialty sourdough bread was so good. We will be back. This place is worth the drive from Madison, but weβre lucky to live close! Pretty on a snowy night, the outside firepit was going to sit around too!

Was crowded into a table too small for our group. Makes my first thought to just turn around and leave. Drinks took long time and were weak, food was ehh, I know being short staffed is hurting their business, but putting too large a group of people in a small table isn't a short staff issue, neither is making weak drinks. Restaurants that properly time food so everyone gets their meal hot at the same time is getting harder to find. Sorry for the poor review, I hope it points out the areas you are lacking and will improve upon.

The waitstaff was very friendly. They did inform us it would be slow since itβs farm to table. We ordered the fish fry and lasagna and it took an hour to get our foodβ¦at least we were warned ahead of time. There were only about 4 other tables seated, so it was pretty quiet. Unless they made the lasagna completely from scratch at the moment it was ordered, Iβm not sure why it took so long given the fish fry was probably cooked in about 5 minutes.
As for the food, the fish was good, coleslaw was amazing, and the fries were way over cooked. The lasagna was good, but I wouldnβt say with the price; hence the more critical review.
The ambiance is interesting. Itβs a neat old building but the decor is all over the place. The farm tables are neat. They had interesting chandeliers above the tables with a Japanese screen just below a Harley Davison sign.
We would like to return to try the wood fired pizza.

Great food inside a neat, historic building. My only suggestion, being in Cambridge, support local business and carry Cambridge Wine! They have some great wines, and would complement the food (local food, local drinks, local wine!).

How can you ruin prime rib? It was smoked and so salty I couldnβt eat it. Ordered a Southern Comfort Old Fashioned Sour and got a Screwdriver. Wonβt be going back.

Great drinks and atmosphere. The food is in a league of its own. I had the blackened smoked chicken and was blown away. We were impressed with the service despite the staffing issues. It's clear they're trying to make it a Cambridge staple and we'll definitely be back!

Was guest this evening & had a remarkable positive experience. Had the NY strip stk, mashed pots & grilled asparagus along with salad. The starter bread was hot, crisp & wonderful. It was a kinda slow Sat. evening & service was excellent. The med rare steak was one of the best prepared wood fired grilled pieces of meat I've had in yrs. All reasonably priced> Look forward to return soon.

We were not impressed with the cook yelling at the only waitress on a busy Thursday night. The honey wings were delicious but the stone fired pizza was undercooked. We waited a long time for the pizza. Drinks are very pricey. We will not be making reservations at this restaurant again π

Cons: Service could be improved. Expect to spend about 1:45-2:00 hours for dinner.

I used to love the plow. They had great food and a good atmosphere. However, less than a month before closing, they allowed us to buy a $50+ gift certificate without telling us that they would be closing less than a month later. There is no way they did not know that they would be closing in less than a month. This is something you tell someone while they are buying a gift certificate for a CHRISTMAS present. Shady. Just shady.

FYI saw in the local paper that the Plow will be closed as of Jan 12, 2020 until April. The article states the menu is being "retooled" and there will be some remodeling. Yea for an expanded menu! And take out items like lasagna, pulled pork, and more wood-fired pizza options. And expanded hours!
I want to put in my suggestion again for a better selection of fresh desserts. Like June is strawberry desserts, July is raspberry, August is blueberry, September is apple, October is pumpkin, etc. Or at least a dessert special every day listed on the Facebook page. When we have out of town company even if we don't have dinner at the Plow it would be nice to take a stroll down the street for coffee (or other beverage) and dessert on the patio and hang out.
Looking forward to the upcoming changes.

This place is all over the place. My girlfriend and i have been here 3 times. The first experience was amazing, the food and service were perfect. The second experience was pretty terrible. I ordered a 28 dollar steak and it came out raw. I sent it back, it came out minutes later in the exact same state. I promptly asked for the bill, which they did deduct my steak from. The service was also awful the second time. No worries, everyone has a bad day, decided to try it again with a few more members of my family for friday night fish fry. There was a 10 minute wait to be seated, though there were plenty of open tables in the dining area. It took 10 minutes to be acknowledged by the waitress after being seated. We ordered appetizers which were good, then we all ordered fish. Ive had better fish from the frozen food section. 2 pieces of fish were so overcooked it was like fish jerky, and the third was undercooked. The sides were awful, flash fried potatoes and potato salad that tasted like straight vinegar. Took 15 mins to get our second round of drinks. Service is not their specialty, and neither is food. Not impressed. Not worth the money. Not worth the time.

Had to wait about 10 minutes for our drinks, but the martinis were excellent and worth the wait! We were told 40 minutes wait for a table and it took about an hour. Had the catfish appetizer, and it was very good. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. My wife ordered a glass of wine that took about 20 minutes to get to the table. It took an hour to get our meals (prime rib and shrimp scampi) and the place wasnβt that busy. When they did come out, they were lukewarm at best. There were 3 parties of 6-8 people, but nothing to justify the long wait times. It looked like they had a severe staff shortage in all areas.

We had sort of a mixed experience with this place. When I called to make a reservation I was told that they weren't taking reservations between 5:30 and 7:30 because they had two larger groups coming. I get that, so we decided to come at 5. There were only a handful of customers there at the time and almost all tables were open. After looking at the menu we realized some of the things that were on their menu online weren't actually things they had anymore. After placing our order it was 20 minutes before bread was brought out and nearly an hour before our appetizers came out. One of the apps we ordered never came out, we just had her take it off the bill. That being said our server was super nice and apologized for everything. The food was good and she brought my husband a delicious brownie for his birthday.

We really enjoyed our evening out at Plow! The food was very good. We had shrimp cocktail appetizer and the onion rings. Entree salad, garlic chicken and a pasta dish. The garlic was not too strong. Very delicious.
The had some live music on the patio. It was just so nice. Beautiful evening at the end of August! Thanks!

Definitely rivals the best places in Madison! I had the pulled pork, which was tender and tasty. The potato salad that came with it was the best I've had in a long time--great flavor. The Plow Sangria was sweet, light, and refreshing. The restaurant was also pretty kid-friendly for Saturday lunch.

Horrible Service! Push pin found in my daughters friends mouth after taking a bite of Mac N Cheese. Owner blamed waitress and walked away angry when approached. We made sure our credit card had not been charged and we got up and left. We also witnessed small children putting their hands in the water pitcher to eat ice and then spit the ice back in the water pitcher. The same pitcher they were using to serve customers. Very young cook, and young children behind the bar running around. Owners seemed clueless and server as well.

Plow was a bit if a disappointment.
I understand they've been there for a long time, maybe they have a regular clientele that's really forgiving.
We arrived fifteen minutes early for our reservation. We stood by the host stand for five minutes while the bartender studiously ignored us. Eventually the hostess came up with a pile of menus and told us that it was very busy and she couldn't seat us until our reservation time (which isn't unreasonable). We went for a brief walk and came back at our reservation time so we could stand there for another five minutes - with two other parties now - being studiously ignored by the bartender ten feet away.
The hostess eventually returned and seated us ten minutes late.
Service was slow and inept. The server was very friendly, but didn't know what she was doing. She forgot about being out of the first appetizer we ordered.
Our meals came before appetizers were done.
She balanced the tray of food on our table because she didn't bring a tray stand.
This forced her to distribute food with one hand, spilling some elements of it.
And so on.
The menu is interesting, and the food is good. But the very haphazard service is hard to reconcile in a place that charges over $20 for entrees.

We have been to the Plow several times. Several times as a couple, once on business with the General Counsol of a major Madison corp. and his wife, and another time with my company for our Christmas party. Each time the service was very good and the food exceptional. The wine list is intetesting with a wide variety of options at reasonable prices. We find the variety of entrees interesting and well done. I travel throughout the USA on business and have the opportunity to dine out with clients frequently. The Plowβs atmosphere, menu and service make it one of my favorites.

Walked in as we had never stopped here before and it looked interesting. Place smelled wonderful at first but then a horrible plastic smell filled the room with smoke. No one greeted us when we walked in. Waited 10 minutes and let the group in front of us be seated first. When another waitress finally came out to seat us we were told it would be a 10 minute wait which turned into a 15 minute wait, which turned into us just leaving. Great atmosphere, poor service and smells like poor food. Will not be returning.

When Charles and his family opened Plow, they were the fourth or fifth restaurant in this location. I stopped in and met Charles one day and gave him a sample of chantrelle mushrooms. He happily jumped at the opportunity to use fresh, locally foraged, wild mushrooms. As it turned out, he and I had the same love for farm to table cuisine and he offered me a tour of his farm. So i tagged along for an afternoon of chores and had the privilege of seeing the bare bones of the operation. The free range pigs were the happiest I've ever seen having wide open spaces and literally all the acorns they could ever want. After later having more experience with the fresh pork, i knew Charles was onto something. It's nice to see great chefs getting back to the deep roots of how food should be. Great experience all around.

Been here multiple times since it opened, the theme is pretty consistent. Great food, good atmosphere, subpar service. Everyone is generally nice and will meaning, but the place simply runs much slower than other restaurants and I would have thought they would have figured it out by now. I plan on an hour and a half of being there, even if you are not ordering anything particularly difficult.
As I mentioned before though, great food, good atmosphere. I'd say the price is probably a bit high, but for higher end food outside of Madison, it pretty much has the market cornered.
TL;DR: plan extra time, but usually worth the wait.

We came here during the fire festival weekend. The town was buzzing and business was booming, but this restaurant seemed understaffed and unprepared for the event. Upon arrival we were told there was a 25 minute wait, but there were plenty of tables clearly available inside and out. Clearly the wait was due to being understaffed.
We decided to take a seat at the bar seeing as it is full service. There was still a bit of a wait.. it was about a 45-50 minute wait. That being said, the food was very good.
My girlfriend and I both ordered the Plow Burger. Mine was excellent, hers was a bit raw in the middle. We were both satisfied with the food even despite a tiny section of her burger being raw. The accompanying potato salad was also excellent.
So, 3/5 for what seemed a disorganized staff/kitchen, kind of choppy service, not the best host, and a little raw meat.

My lady and I had dinner there the other night. It was amazing. More of an experience than a dinner. The atmosphere was lovely sitting on the patio in the evening surrounded by lights. It was very romantic. The food and drink was perfect: martinis, white Russian. The tomahawk pork chop was excellent and tender as could be. The stuffed trout was scrumptious and the prime rib was some of the best I have had. The staff were helpful and prompt, and the chef even came out to chat with us. Will be a memory of an evening we will not soon forget. I cannot think of a better restaurant between Madison and Milwaukee. It's right up there with Donny's Girl and Buckhorn.

If you want to spend all night waiting for your food, with no bread, no water/drink refills then this is the place for you. Finally, out of pity one of the servers at the 1.45 hour mark of us waiting offered bread- no butter- and no napkins forcing us to wipe our mouths/ hands on the bread cloth. Food came after waiting an hour at thee table and it was cold- even the baked potato and anyone who cooks know those takes looong time to get cold. Save your time and money- eat elsewhere

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and great food. The wood fired oven adds a fun, and tasty, touch. On busy nights, I'd definitely recommend getting a reservation. Some of the food can be a bit pricy (and delicious), and they have a good assortment of options to please most pallets, and budgets. Parking is available on the street outside, and they also have a nice pattio for outside dining.
