They say you should never grocery shop on an empty stomach so I stopped in to have lunch. So glad I did. The friendliest and freshest food around. For around $16 including tip, I had a delicious bowl with high quality and healthy ingredients. I went “wild” with spicy tuna and sweet octopus for my protein, sea food salad, and fresh veggies. We gave this spot a try after our go-to poke place recently closed, hoping to find a new favorite nearby.

Ordering was very smooth through their website, and delivery was impressively quick. The ingredients themselves seemed fresh and well-prepared; the pineapple was ripe, the fish tasted fresh, and everything was cooked or handled properly.

The one drawback for us was the amount of sauce. Even with a fairly standard order plus pineapple and edamame, the bowl ended up being very heavily coated, to the point that most ingredients blended together under the flavor of the sauce, which was robust. While the tuna, onion, and pineapple still stood out, other flavors were hard to pick up. When I finished, there was still a good amount of sauce left in the bowl. Meanwhile, my partner gave up with about 20% left, as she was unable to finish hers because of it.

It was a little disappointing because the ingredients seemed good enough to shine on their own without needing that much sauce. If I order again, I’d definitely ask them to go lighter, probably about half the sauce, because the quality of the food itself is worth highlighting.

I have ordered Poke Bay a few times on GrubHub or whatever. They always get my order right, and they always get it done quickly. Plus it's the most affordable option in Madison as far as I can tell. But then I took my mom and my daughter into the restaurant for the first time. It was even better. You could see all of your options right in front of you they had a nice menu of suggested bowls and then they had the perfect menu to follow right in front of you. They had a decent selection of drinks or you can get ice water. They even had a small section of extra sauce. It's everything you want from Poke.

A friend and I went to lunch earlier this week, and we both ordered the badger bowl. The man behind the counter was very courteous, and our bowls came up fast. You get a significant amount of food for the price, and it felt very high in quality.

Holy smack-a-zoley, this place rocks. Whether it's the all inclusive service provided from the number on the bathroom stall, or the eel sauce that works as lube, this place is a hidden gem.
