I love this place. I’ve been coming here for over two years and I’ve never once had even a sub parr experience. The bowls NEVER miss, easily within my top three reliable good food spots. Portions are (imo) perfect, and it’s pretty affordable!!! And if you thought it couldn’t get any better; IT CAN. The staff are always incredibly friendly and patient, and even mindful of dietary restrictions!!!!

Great food was cooked to order even when I was the only in after the dinner rush. Fresh cut and cooked vegetables and perfectly cooked steak. Awesome flavor. Definitely gonna eat here once a week.

I originally wanted to eat at Rising Son Lao & Thai cuisine but they were closed.
We stopped at this place next door and I think it was a very cute & small restaurant.
i enjoyed the food but it was a little pricy for 2 entrees, they weren’t very big portions. good for lunch, maybe not for dinner.
we got the chicken teriyaki & i made my own salmon bowl.
interesting music choice in there.
Good experience, big menu. I would come back to try the eel donburi & takoyaki (octopus balls)!

Pretty good poke place. I really love poke bowls. We went to Poke It Up first but their restaurant smelled so bad I didn’t think I could eat there. Not sure if it was rotten seafood or not but this place was clean and inviting. I got the Hawaiian bowl. My boyfriend got a custom made one. I never had baby octopus before. I felt a bit like I should have blindfolded myself like people who eat those whole birds…hopefully readers have watched Succession…because those babies were delicious but made me feel guilty. Octopi are beautiful, intelligent creatures. Makes me want to go vegetarian. But the bowl was the freshness I needed after throwing up via a late night Wings Over Madison order. There was a parking garage close by too.

Awful and rude service attitude. I forgot to sign my receipt and the lady yelled at me “Did you sign your receipt?” loudly. Also, the staffs there are reluctant to serve the customer and no instructions when ordering. Won’t come to this place again.

Paid $18 for a large bowl. They wanted to charge me an extra 75 cents to put it in a “super” size bowl. I just wanted it so I had room to mix the stuff together, otherwise it just falls everywhere. I also had to pay an extra $1 for some sauce. They barely put on enough without getting the extra size. Not to mention the crispy onions topping is $1 extra too. What a scam. Try one of the other places around State st. and save your money.

The food was delicious, but I wonder a bit about management. I asked for a smaller size of one of their signature bowls and had to pay MORE for it. I knew I wouldn't be able to eat all of the larger bowl, so I paid more not to have waste. I'll probably find another poke restaurant.

I like this place because they serve healthy and nutritious food. Healthy and nutritious options to this degree are difficult to find in the State Street area, I feel. I really appreciate having this place available for that reason, also staff has always been friendly to me.

Editing my review because service has plummeted this summer. If you are not ready to open at 11, do not have your hours say that you are open at 11, then yell at a tipping regular when they are confused. Super disappointing because I love this place, but lately service makes me feel like a burden. Guess I'll stay away then.

My boyfriend and I came in on a Friday night around 7:30, and we were excited to try poke for the first time. The food was fresh and delicious, and the vibe inside was nice. However, we didn't order everything we wanted because the girl working at the counter made us feel rushed, like we were a nuissance.

Good food, cold customer service.

Best poke I’ve ever had, hands down. I’ve gone to MANY poke places before, but poke plus is superior in terms of speed, freshness/taste, portioning, price, and cleanliness. People who say otherwise probably haven’t gone to many other poke places. This is one of Madison’s hidden gems.

Probably my favorite restaurant on State Street and a great summer find. The ingredients are always fresh, the serving sizes are generous, and the people who work here are always wonderful. Even if there is a line, it is always quick to wait. Personally much healthier and more fun option than Chipotle. While not cheap, it could be much more expensive on the scale of POKE. I love this place. Highly recommend!

If putting any raw fish on rice can be called Poke, then I guess I can't say it's not a Poke. However...the way they put it made me lost all my appetite when looking at it (It looks like cat or dog food to me). In addition, they put food together without considering the conflict of temperature. It was not a pleasant experience when you eat ice cold fish with hot rice.

I have never left a review so that shows how bad this experience was. We spent $25 on the food alone, and I got spicy salmon and spicy tuna, to find two scoops of legitimate moosh in my bowl. We have eaten at 3 other Poke places in Madison, so unless this was some special I’m not aware of, I thought it was cat food and could barely eat it. Would not recommend unless you’re into that or if you order the Ahi Tuna which my boyfriend did and oddly was full pieces of fish on the contrary.

The man working there wasn't the nicest. It was our first time there and we were in line, and he asked us what we wanted, and we told him we weren't too sure yet, since there was a wide selection of items to choose from in the Poke Bar. He took his hand and gestured for us to move out of the way because there was another couple behind us ready. I was fine moving out of the way, but he could have politely said, if you need a minute or two, I'll be helping the next customers, but nope. So that kinda brushed us the wrong way.

We decided to order a Poke Bowl, and got a generous portion of rice, but it was piping hot. Normal Poke Bowls should have cooler temperatures for the rice, so the heat doesn't warm the sushi fish that may cause potential bacterial growth leading to foodborne illnesses. That aside, it was quite pricy from the start, and to make things more irritating, they charge 0.50 for certain additional toppings that normally would go along with a Poke Bowl. Things like Masago or Avocado, or Seaweed Salad would be charged. There are several different types of options for fish, we got a super so we chose salmon, spicy tuna, poke tuna, poke tuna, and spicy salmon. I was a little surprised at how small the scoops were. 5 scoops at that place is a normal 3 scoops at a place like Poke Bar in Hawaii. The cashier, a female student from the campus possibly, was very friendly to us and rang us up. She was very helpful in explaining the menu items and such.

The Poke at this place was just alright. They charge so much already, why wouldn't they use nishiki rice? Do they really think we wouldn't notice the cheap long grain rice that you are using in a sushi bowl? Of course when I heard the chef in the back, he was speaking Mandaring, so of course, no surprise that he would try to cheap out and nickel and dime ppl any way possible. At least the fish, for the most part, tasted fresh, but it was lacking in quanitity for the $16-17 bowl that it ended up costing with the additional items. Once again, Madison disappoints with subpar Sushi restaurants. The restaurant was very clean and tidy and looked modern, but I'm going there for the food, not how neat and organized and tidy your restaurant is.

This place is great! There are so many protein options to choose from, and even more toppings and sauces! Three different sized bowls is really nice too. You pick what rice you want, then there's a whoooole lot of ingredients at a bar, sort of like a Subway, where they out those on the rice, you can pick 2 different proteins though I just doubled up on tuna hahaha, and there's a bunch of sauces to get gently zigzagged across the top. There's also a crunchy topping to add at the end if you want. The sitting area is really cute. You can pick either chopsticks or there's silverware if you want as well. My partner got teriyaki instead of poke and it was brought out sizzling hot and made-to-order with a nice bowl of rice, he loved it!
