Great for our large party seating. We sat on the patio overlooking the water & boats. Weather couldn't have been better. Drinks were great, atmosphere was great, & food was great. Not what I'd call standard Mexican but more Americanized Mexican. So let me start off by saying that I grew up around Chetek and went here (a lot) when I was a child. I loved Pokegama for it's pizza, game room, and native American motif. But that's all changed now. No pizza. They turned it into a Mexican restaurant. And not one item on the menu looked good. But then again I am used to southwestern United States Mexican restaurants. Northern Mexican restaurants are not the same. We both ordered burgers instead of any of the Mexican food. The burgers were ok. I don't think they are worth the price they are asking for them. But either way I'm very disappointed that this place turned into what it did. It really crushed me to see a childhood favorite follow the yuppie crowd that it now caters to. Also we were seated on the deck overlooking the water which was cool except the sun was blazing and we had no umbrella or cover which made it miserable to sit out there.

I was really hoping for a great experience at The Cantina, but unfortunately, it fell flat. The margaritas, which should be a highlight at any cantina, were frankly gross. They tasted like a bad mix with little to no actual tequila, and certainly not the refreshing drink I was craving.

To make matters worse, the "canoe burrito" simply did not deliver. It was bland, lacked the promised ingredients, and felt more like a sad, deflated raft than a hearty canoe. The portion size was also underwhelming for the price.

Overall, it was a very disappointing and expensive meal. I won't be returning and cannot recommend The Cantina to anyone looking for good margaritas or a satisfying burrito.

Brady welcomed us as we approached seating with our dog, he kindly pointed to our choice of several times in and out of the sun! He filled our pups bowl up with ice water which was greatly appreciated. We have been to the Lakeside Catina yearly for several years and have always been pleased. Now with new renovations this restaurant will be the place to go. Luve music during the summer, great docking for boats and a terrific menu. Dont skip this spot, you wont be sorry. Our server was the very best!

Had dinner at the Pokegama Cantina on Wednesday of last week we had the Chetek burrito for $22. 80% of our burritos were sautéed onions. I had one shrimp in the whole burrito and a few small pieces of chicken and pork not worth the money. Our friends had the shrimp tacos. They had two little shrimp in each one of their tacos. for $23 we would not recommend going there

I want to like this place, but they make it difficult. A Mexican restaurant should - at the very least - have a great house margarita. (Yes, they have a frozen house margarita, but lots of people don’t want a frozen drink from a machine.) The bartender on two occasions didn’t know how to make a simple margarita shaken in a mixing tin. The horrible one I was served was $17, and she seemed very annoyed that I wanted something that wasn’t out of the frozen machine. The “salsa” served with a tiny basket of chips for 5 people taste like V8 juice. Guacamole - which was mediocre at best - was $11. Entrees were all just OK…nothing tasted authentically Mexican and they all lacked any real flavor. The singer on a Tuesday night was pretty amateur and about 3 times too loud. We could barely have a conversation at our table near the opposite end of the patio. Ultimately, it’s dramatically overpriced for the quality of food and beverage served. Lots of potential, but needs someone in charge who knows how to run a good bar and Mexican kitchen.

I love it here! My family and I have been coming to Cantina for about 3 years. I usually love the food and rice that comes with it, so naturally, tonight was my first time coming here of the year as we were at our cabins! I sit down, and by the way, the staff is so sweet, and the service is super fast. we got our food in 10 minutes for 4 people! However, when my food got to the table, I noticed the rice looked different than last year. It wasn't the same dark orange I know and love. So naturally, I take a bite, and yep, they changed the recipe, and I did not like it one bit. So then I tried the beans, yuck. Who changed the recipe once again because these beans tasted a little rotten and almost sweet? My meal itself was ok, I was trying something new, and I'm a picky eater, so this one wasn't really for me. However, I tried this delicious Mexican soda they have, and it was strawberry, and it was delicious! Overall, I'm a little disappointed in the rice and beans change. However, staff is super nice, service is fast, and good prices for the amount of food.

The bartender we had tonight was amazing! She was attentive and very friendly. I believe it's called Casa Mexicana Lakeside. But I'm not sure, the food was great. My friend and I have been there five times and the first time food was excellent the next three not so much and this last time it was back to excellent again. Plus they had the garage door open which made such a nice flow for the air and the opening to see the lake it changed the whole dynamic of the place. And it was just wonderful refreshing the drinks were good it's a great place to stop and eat. I almost forgot that the bar staff which is where we always eat they are kind generous excellent people and always on top of filling our drinks. Plus getting our meals to us quickly and hot.

Old review: They have a new menu so we thought we would try it again since we've been disappointed in the past, but it wasn't very good. Their "cheddar cheese" is just cheese sauce, their brisket is dry and over cooked, and chicken wings under cooked and chewy. Nothing we ordered was given to us as we ordered.
