My server was great. My server was an older Hispanic man. I kinda waited too long before my server came. No one came around so I could order a drink and appetizer. It took my server a while to get comfortable and in the groove. He eventually did a great job of serving me and communicating.

I started with a drink called Dirty Horchata. It was cream, rum, espresso, cold brew topped with whipped cream, served over crushed ice. It was huge and creamy! This could count as dessert.

For the appetizer, Taquitos Chiquitos, they were rolled up tortillas, filled with chicken and fried. They were crispy and tasty. One of the sauces made me tear up. Don't know which one but it hit me out of nowhere.

I ordered Coctel de Camerones, Mexican style shrimp cocktail, shrimp tossed in a sauce with onion, cilantro, avocado, and citrus juice. It came in a large shrimp cocktail bowl, garnished with large shrimp, orange and lime wedges.

I wanted to try Ensalada de Nopales, cactus leaves salad. I asked my server about the size of the salad, he said it was too big and too much food for a single diner.

My server was right, after all the taquitos and Dirty Horchata and some the shrimp cocktail, I was full. I couldn't eat anymore. I couldn't finish the shrimp cocktail, I had to take the rest home.

The atmosphere was great, lots of decorations and pretty lights all over the place. Outdoor seating. Very friendly and helpful wait staff.

My server had a rough start. I don't think he likes rushing around trying to please everyone. It took my server a while to get comfortable and in the groove. He eventually did a great job of serving me and communicating.

Had a wonderful experience. Right from the start the setting was beautiful. Such a fun atmosphere. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our server Exon was fantastic. My friend and I were catching up and deep in conversation, he respected that and checked on us appropriately. He responded to all our needs and beyond. Best server I have had in a while. Just moved to the area and this is the best Mexican restaurant we have had in Washington County. The food is delicious first and foremost especially the salsa. Polanco is very overpriced compared to other local Mexican restaurants, and the food was mediocre enough that the price can't really be justified. They charge for an extra basket of chips and instituted a new policy where BOGO margaritas can't be split. I have never seen such small bean and rice portions at a Mexican restaurant. To top all of that off, the tip calculation at the bottom of the receipt is based on total with tax included. Save a few bucks and go somewhere that respects you as a customer.

Me and my wife stopped here on a whim because we were coming through for work (we live in Racine) and MY god am I glad we did. This has to be if not already is the best authentic Mexican restaurant in the Midwest. The service was all anyone could ask for thanks to Shirlie, she was sweet and kind and was always checking on us. The atmosphere makes you feel like you’re sitting in Tijuana the drinks are delicious. The food came out hot and fast and holy moly was it delicious. We live over a hour away and we will be back many times. Highly recommend this family owned restaurant❤️

Stellar staff, delicious food, beautiful murals and expansive drink menu. We come regularly and is the only Mexican restaurant we want to eat at! Prices are super reasonable (Taco Bell costs more for same quantity of food!) and the menu will have something for everyone. They even have a limited American section for kids and the super picky eaters. Makes for a great gathering spot for events if your party is around 20 or less. In fair weather, it is nice to sit on the patio and eat Al fresco!

Service and food were amazing! We had a party of 7. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio. Our server was attentive, friendly and funny. All our orders were correct, hot and delicous! We orderd 2 chirro and a fried ice cream for dessert and were so glad we did. I wish I would have taken pics but we all attacted them like voulchers!! The chirro's came out in huge margarita glasses and the fried ice cream was the best we ever had. The coating was a french toast crumb that was so yuummmy! Our server Louis was absolutely INCREDIBLE. Full of energy and even made the whole dining room sing happy birthday to a kid which was fun. He was full of jokes and kept the energy the entire time-our party was large with 13 people. The food was delicious. I had the Birria street tacos, i was a little sad it didn’t come with the sauce that Birria tacos are usually dipped in but they were still juicy and not dry. The salsa was delicious and so was the rice. To me, the atmosphere and energy of all the staff made this place so memorable. Thank you!

We were at the restaurant tonight and had a party of 7. We were there just about an hour, and still finishing our deserts and drinks, and just paid the bill. Then we get asked if we could move to a different table. We told them that we were almost done and would leave shortly. Less than 5 minutes later a guy comes up to us and asks us to move again, so that they could seat a different party. We told them that we were going to finish our food first. We then get rudely looked at by the hostess and the guy who asked us to move, several times. i can understand if we had been there for a long time, but we had 2 young kids, that were still finishing their food. This is honestly the rudest I have ever been treated at restaurant and will never go back. After spending over $200 at a place and treated like we didn't belong there, cause they had a bigger party coming in, to get treated in this manner is uncalled for. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants that will glady take our money and appreciate that we came to their establishment.

Our waiter was awesome. Food was very good, but it is very pricey for the meal. The sign in front has Tuesday special for tacos and that didn't start until 4 , but it doesn't say that on the sign. &. I asked for an extra sour cream. It was $1.50 for the tiny little cup. A lemonade was $4, the person I was with had iced tea and asked for lemon with it and she was charged $4.50 for it, charged as a flavored lemonade. I don't know if it was free refills. We didnot ask (good thing bcz I wasn't told that I was getting charged. $1.50 for sour cream either.) And yes , now i looked & it does say it in the menu I see now. But who looks for that in sides? $4 drinks does not say free refills.. I guess I stopped after I found what I wanted to eat on the menu. My fault. Usually for lunch, I drink water.
Next time I'll learn.

Me and the wife went to pick up my wife’s order of ($16)birria tacos. The lady misunderstood my wife over the phone when she placed the order for ($22)quesabirria. Then when we went to pick our food up my wife had 17 bucks for her food. She tried to pay the lady and instead of talking abo ut it the lady made a huge scene because she didn’t have 22 bucks on her. Claiming “you don’t have any money on your card” and yelling So the other customers could hear her and embarrassed her. She on said my wife lied and placed an order for quesa birria to cover her own a**. This is the absolute worst experience I’ve had going to a restaurant for the first time. The “waitress” was extremely rude and should loose her job. I had to go in and talk to the guy working there and me and him got it figured out, the guy was nice. We will not be going back a second time. By the time we got home the birria tacos were also dry but the focus of this review is the horrible service

We’ve been going to this restaurant the last couple years and the food and service is usually good even on busy days. Today 06/20/24 food was horrible and cold. We ordered Fiesta fajita, chicken burrito, chicken quesadillas dinner and chicken tenders with fries. Chicken tenders were burnt and lukewarm, quesadillas were cold, my husbands burrito was cold and when he asked for it to be warmed up, they warmed up his whole plate including the lettuce and onions. Waitress went and got her manager who seemed to have been annoyed as he yelled at my husband asking if they should remake it.
The restaurant wasn’t as busy as most days but service was slow. Other people who came many minutes after us were being served in a timely manner.

This tasted like really authentic Mexican food. We had fajitas and burrito Mexicano. The refried beans and rice I usually pass on them, but these were actually amazing!! Great flavor and texture. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We did take out, and if I may provide one suggestion, it would be to put foil on the bottom of the Styrofoam container so the Styrofoam flavor does not impart on the hot food. However, that goes for any restaurant using Styrofoam containers.

Lovely decor and very friendly staff and the food was fantastic! Just what I needed after a long day of travel. I had a combo with three items all distinctly different, and each one was perfectly prepared. I’ll be back!

Went last night for a family dinner of 6, and I would not recommend this place. We had a reservation, but we were one of 4 tables in the whole building, and we still had to wait over and over again for service. We had to ask 3 separate times for chips, and never once got a drink refill during the 2 hour dinner. 5 out of 6 of us got our food, and the 6th had to wait another 10 minutes for their food, but when she got it it was the wrong menu item and ingredients. She sent it back, and the hostess said it would just be a couple minutes and they would take it off our bill for the inconvenience. 10 Minutes later she got her order, but still was not what she had ordered, but was at least the proper meat so we asked for it to go since all of us were done eating, and ready to go. The Bill came, and the meal was still on the bill, so we nicely asked about it and maybe we miss heard. She took it to her boss, and he came back with the server, and said that the "Owner" would not allow it to be comped because we are taking it home! Keep in mind the order was still not what she wanted. He told us because the server messed up that they would take it off the bill, and the server would be required to pay for it to make us feel guilty! The server was almost in tears, so we gave her cash that she would have to take out of her pocket! In no world should a owner require the servers to pay for such a simple mistake that could of just been rectified with a proper apology. We are a very easy going family, and have all worked and managed restaurants, and we are just amazed that this would be the owners policy. I have never left a bad review but after the way the manager treated us we feel this needs to be addressed and made aware!

I was excited to have a nice dinner at a new place with my adult children! We were enjoying the company and chatting so we overlooked the slower service and possible language barrier! It took a long time to get order taken..asked for chips a few times and never had refills or visit from waitress. Food was ok..nothing extraordinary that would go out of my way for~

The night took a terrible turn when one of our meals was wrong and remade multiple times..complete wrong meal. The host told us they would make the correct meal and take off bill! I thanked him but when we go the bill it was still on so I questioned if I misunderstood! The manager came out once and thew the server under the bus blaming her and saying she was new~ she had no support... He proceeded to tell us that since we were taking the food in a TO GO box because by the time we got the food everyone was done eating...we would need to pay for it~. We gave them the food back and they took it!

This is when I couldn't believe what happened....the manager came out ..took the food and said the waitress would have to pay for the food they took off bill!! I have never heard of this....and it was not her fault and no one supported her! Manager was quite loud about his statement and rude like it was our fault~ soo...we did not get the food....I paid for the meal and a good tip for the waitress AND my son gave her cash cus we were afraid she would not get the tip! We took care of the waitress and dropped 150 bill for mediocre food and terrible management! I cant be upset with service as it appears management doesn't train properly. I had multiple people wanting to know how it is and to report back.....6 adults were very disappointed!

Didn't get service for 15 minutes. Other servers passed us and didn't even ask if anyone checked on us. Didn't get what we ordered. Long wait for the food. Was a 2 hour dinner. Very disappointed. Never happened here before.

First time at Polancos and very impressed. The restaurant was clean and the wall murals are beautiful. Our server Luis was very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent with large portions, more than my husband and I could finish. We can’t wait to go back.

Amazing skirt steak and grilled shrimp! As always margaritas are excellent! We tried the churro dessert tonight and it was delicious!
