The food was excellent and our server was great, but the experience was completely overshadowed by the obnoxious host in sunglasses. He spent the entire time complaining about customers and staff within earshot of the dining area.

When we asked to sit at a table a bit closer to the water...he made a big deal about it claiming it was “saved for larger parties” despite dozens of empty tables all around. He acted self-important and dismissive, as if seating guests was an inconvenience.

We ended up seated near the host stand, where we got to hear him and the waitstaff gripe about their shifts and other customers the whole time. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional.

The kitchen and waitstaff deserve better representation at the front of house. The food and service were great, but the attitude at the door left us shocked

I got the Cobb salad - I swapped the dressing but when I. The tomatoes were mushing and bland. The 'fresh rotisserie chicken' wash overly brined deli chicken meat. I swapped the ranch for a balsamic. I asked the waitress if it was a creamy or the vinegar/oil kind, she said the latter but it was the former. I also asked to upgrade to the salmon per, as the menu said it was an option. She said it wasnt allowed. when I pointed out the menu, she still said she could ask a manager but I decided not to press it...I should have the chicken sucked. It might as well have been picked.

My friend got the Greecian Lamb. It was server with almonds and coleslaw on top? How is that greek? Weird. Anyway, the food was gross, the waitress checked on us once between delivering the food and check. the food came in 5 minutes...literally 5 minutes. Thanks Chef Mic Rowave!
All around, we should have gone next door to Oakfire where the food is actually good. Lessons learned, I guess.

The greasiest food I've ever had! My friend and I got the artichoke dip and ruben rolls. The dip had a puddle of oil and chips tasted stale. The ruben rolls were so greasy we couldn't even eat them. $34 with tip for food we could even eat. Definitely wouldn't go here again or recommend this place unless you enjoy drinking grease.

1st time here with a friend. I had the Schnitzel with the mushroom cream sauce. My friend had the prime. Enough food to split as the Schnitzel had two large pieces and I had half of her 12 oz. prime and was still able to bring 1/2 home for hubby. He wants to go there now. 🤣. Very, very good food.

I have personally come here quite a few times over the last 10 years, and they have never disappointed. This particular time was especially great for a family girls trip. Food was on par, with no issues. Service and atmosphere as always was very welcoming. We sat inside as it was too windy out for a bunch of chatty women. Nice and quiet otherwise though. The decor is unique. The long island ice tea we had was amazing and so were the cheese curds. But it goes down hill after that. It was busy. The two meals we had were the worst I have ever had. Pork Schnitzel was rubbery and undercooked inside while the breading was overcooked on the outside. The pulled pork was the same rubbery. We took one bite of each and couldn't choke down another. This seriously was the worst meal we ever had. $94 later for lunch. I will say this, our server was amazing and so pleasant. I would go back for drinks and cheese curds only.

Update: 2025. I haven't been to this place in many years but I'm doing my review based on my last visit. I don't get down this way very often and by very often, I mean about once a decade LOL. I was really disappointed with my fiancé it was our first time trying it out. Even my spicy bloody marry tasted gross I politely asked for it to be sent back and I just had a water. Had really high expectations for this cute restaurant that faces the lake, but not only was the waitress rude, but the food was gross. We wanted to sit on the patio, so when a woman came to seat us, my husband started to walk to sit away from the crowd a bit, she said we had to sit closer because of the server stations, and then it ended up she sat us at her own table and was our server. She was rude from the get-go, just dismissive and not friendly, and just not a good waitress all around.

I got the rotisserie chicken wrap, and it was absolutely awful. Totally full of greasy and disgusting grizzly dark meat chicken that I had to remove to even eat the wrap. It was supposed to have barbecue sauce (it’s a bbq place) and there was hardly any. I also asked for onion rings and she gave me french fries. We asked for an extra side of ranch dressing and barbecue sauce and she forgot both of those as well. My husband’s meal was okay, but nothing impressive enough to even mention.

We spent $75 on a lousy meal with terrible service. We’ll never go back, total waste of money.

We enjoyed a lunch at Popeye's. We were looking for a place right on the lake for lunch. Outside seating was all taken, but we were seated right by a window overlooking the lake. Our table choose different items and everyone enjoyed them. I had the bratwurst on a pretzel bun. The bratwurst was great. It was served with honey mustard, which was good, but wish it was served with a spicier mustard. We are looking forward to coming back to Popeyes on our next visit to Lake Geneva.

Great time with our server, Olivia. However, our experience with the hostess, Geneva, left us a little disturbed. We came with small children and she seated us in the sun. When we requested a relocation with our server, Rachel, she graciously let us move into the shade. Geneva continued to harass us throughout our lunch. We visited POPEYE’s with our family, including small children. We were told by the manager/hostess JAMIE ( lady) that we had to wait to be seated until our final party member arrived, despite our kids being hungry and the restaurant not appearing full. The manager's attitude was very inconsiderate, showing a clear lack of understanding for families. This kind of customer service is extremely disappointing and, quite frankly, poor judgment for someone in a leadership position. It ruined what should have been an enjoyable family meal.

Been coming to Popeyes for 50 years.
Felt the need to post this. Went there tonight because online it said that children eat free on Wednesdays.
After asking the manager to come out and talk to us I believe his name was John I could be mistaken, he very arrogantly told us that it couldn't be honored because it had changed but there was no posting online that it changed and basically it was at the manager's discretion so all he could offer was his apologies.
As an old school girl apologies don't mean anything especially when you have the arrogance to look at me as if to say well I'll do whatever I damn well please. As a matter of fact I said that as he left he really didn't give a damn.
I will say that the 4 oz of brisket that my girlfriend ordered looked very very light. They half slab of ribs I ordered were very salty. But the only thing that could carry any weight was my grandson's cheese pizza which apparently was pretty good.
As Popeye's changes its name after 50 years to I believe Nick's on the lake I feel the need to say they are no longer standing behind the reputation they once had.
I believe that's because we're living in times we're basically some people in the service industry just figure doesn't matter they'll do whatever they want. I've been in the service industry and it's all about customer satisfaction, and this manager clearly didn't give a damn in any way.

Touristy-type, family-friendly restaurant with fun decor, and great service from Madi! The prices are higher, but the food was good and order was accurate. I recommend anything with rotisserie chicken on the menu.

Had the lobster and steak and it was delicious, med. Rare steak was juanes soft and the lobster tail cooked just right. Fries were crunchy and well seasoned. Broccoli and carrots were also good. My wife had the salmon and my son the burger which was very very good according to him. Food was great and the service was amazing. Not happy about the way they handle the bills for larger groups . When the reservation was set we’re told that we could have separate bills! Not the case! If you have a group of 6 or more they lump everyone together on one bill and you have to figure out what your bill is then told will only take one credit card which the fee was over $7.00. What a mess!!! The card machine went down, waited over half hour so we decided to pay cash, but were told we couldn’t because they started with card even though they couldn’t ring it through. On top of they take my card in back room and who knows what they were doing it. I will NEVER go back no matter how good the food was.

Went here on Saturday evening for an early dinner, was seated right away we had 7 in our group. Ordered a mushroom burger! Very thin piece of beef about the size you would get at McDonald's. $20.00 ! It was pitiful.

Lack of transparency with the prices. We had to pay extra for basic burger toppings that should come with the burger (such as lettuce and tomato,) a bit of mayonnaise on the side, and ~2 pieces of broccoli. We were not told that these would be extra.
The pasta was supposed to come with light sauce, but it was way too creamy. In general, the food is overpriced and doesn’t taste very good. For these prices, you might as well go to a different restaurant in the same price range or cheaper.

Prices were high. Soda is $5.00!! Busy day in Lake Geneva, lots of visitors. They are looking to change the restaurant name soon.

We visited Popeye’s on Lake Geneva and unfortunately, the food really missed the mark for us.

My daughter ordered the Cobb salad and felt like she could’ve made a better one at home. It was bland, and even though the rotisserie chicken sounded promising, it was dry and lacked flavor. The Hubby tried the bratwurst plate — the brats were just okay, nothing special. They were out of the jumbo brats and substituted with three regular ones, which were filling, but again, underwhelming.

I had the 12 oz. prime rib of beef with sautéed mushrooms, veggies (broccoli and carrots), and a loaded baked potato. The vegetables were undercooked and the baked potato was just average. The prime rib itself lacked flavor and overall just didn’t deliver.

The fries were probably the best part of the meal.

As for drinks, I had the 24 oz. Tropical Long Island, and my eldest had the regular 16 oz. Regular Long Island. Both drinks were bland and had little to no kick — disappointing for the price. My youngest ordered a strawberry lemonade, which was so tart she couldn’t drink it and it was $5. The prices did seem a bit high for at least what we chose. We spent about $50/pp and left underwhelmed.

Despite all this, the service was great. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was cozy and cute, and even the parking lot attendant was polite and helpful. We really appreciated the service, but unfortunately, the food didn’t give us a reason to return.

Service is the only reason this place gets the extra star. Even then they forgot small items but they were still very nice about everything. Food was not good at all, in hindsight I probably should’ve known better ordering a pulled pork sandwich at a restaurant which mainly serves seafood, but I absolutely did not expect the driest, most unseasoned, fatty pork that came on my sandwich. My brother ended up ordering the same thing and his came out the same way. Definitely not worth the $200 tab. Won’t be coming back here.

Two Weeks ago was our third time Eating at Popeyes and as Usual Everything was Great, From the Moment we Parked We were Treated Very well by Everyone that works their, Our Server was Great and very Knowledgeable about the Menu and very Quick to get us everything we Needed and asked for. We ordered a big platter of Chicken Nachos and it came very fast with A lot of Big Chunks of Rotiserie Chicken, They were so Delicious that all 4 of us Gobbled them up in about 5 Minutes. We all Loved our Dinners, Especially the Rotiserie Chicken, My Kids ordered Other Menu Items but Equally Loved Their food. We finished up with 4 Slices of Chocolate Fudge Cake to Go and they were Awesome Later that Night! We Loved our Experience so Much that we are Returning this Thursday 6/26/25!!

We stopped into Popeye’s on Lake Geneva during our bachelorette weekend and had the BEST time, all thanks to our bartender, John! From the second we sat down, he made us feel so welcome and kept the energy fun, relaxed, and totally on point for our celebration.

The drinks were perfect, the vibe was great, and his service was next-level — super attentive, fast, and genuinely fun to be around. If you’re planning a girls’ night, bachelorette party, or just want great service with a killer cocktail, do yourself a favor and ask for John. He seriously made our night!

I dined in today with a friend and ordered the Surf and Turf combo with mushrooms and onions. The food arrived fairly quickly—within 10 to 15 minutes—but unfortunately, everything on my plate was cold. The steak was well-done even though I requested it medium, and the lobster tasted like it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while.

The one highlight was the Mango Margarita—it was actually really good.

Overall, I feel the food quality didn’t match the price. I understand the location by the lake may contribute to the higher cost, but it seems like you’re mostly paying for the view rather than the food.

Also, the service could have been better. Our server didn’t offer us water and only brought some over after I waved and asked for it.

When we first walked in we thought it would be a good experience, my husband was really craving some ribs and we were told Popeyes was a good place to go since we were around downtown Lake Geneva.
Our appetizers were good, but once the food came it went downhill from there. My husband ordered ribs and brisket, the brisket was ice cold - he asked for no chimichurri sauce and it came with it.
The ribs were subpar, very little flavor and the pulled pork sandwich was the same way.

The service was terrible and the manager was oblivious to what was going on. No one ever came to check on us, check to see how our food was, nothing. Our plates were still full of food because everything was cold, the manager walked by multiple times and never asked if everything was ok when we clearly didn’t eat our food.

My husband and I are an interracial couple, so we don’t know if that had anything to do with it BUT it did feel like we were judged upon arrival and until the end of our visit.

Honestly, if you want some BBQ, southern style food, skip Popeyes and go elsewhere. $109 dollars after half off 2 appetizers, brisket and a full rack of ribs and we’re still hungry.

Not to mention when we left the manager was stuffing her face with food and picking up guests food orders and delivering it to their tables.

The only person that acknowledged us was Max, who is a host, that at least made us feel a little welcomed.

I was taking a 3 day trip to Lake Geneva with my mother and my 2 year old daughter. We’re staying at a hotel near by and we decided to walk the local shops, so of course I bring the stroller. We decided to come to Popeyes for dinner because it was somewhere that we had been multiple times and we know that the food is good. I would have preferred to sit inside. We were told by the hostess outside that we could use the “wheelchair accessible” doors, which by the way they’re not unless you have someone to help you hold the door and even then there is another set to try and open. Only one of the doors opened. We went to the hostess station on the other side because there was not a single person by the doors where we came in. So we go to the other side, and we’re told by the blonde hostess to go down the ramp to bring the stroller to keep it out of the way. She said that they don’t normally take strollers. Mind you, the restaurant was not busy. So she took the stroller to a separate location, which in all honesty would not have made a difference. If it was a problem to have the stroller, I would have said we’ll eat outside or go somewhere else. Totally disappointed in staff. No plates with appetizers. After asking 2 different people, we got 4 plates of which 2 were dinner plates.

We were told to pay $5.00 to park EVEN WITH A HANDICAPPED placard. Turns out that’s ILLEGAL in WI. I goggled fees for handicapped parking and they are ripping handicapped people off. I did not park there. I left and parked elsewhere. How cheap can this place get? I plan on letting the town of Lake Geneva know about this “policy”.

Our view of the Pier was worth paying a little extra for the food. We did have to make one correction to the bill for $2 for the lobster soup add-on to our sandwich meal. The server accommodated my idea to use a box to shake up my salad with the dressing.

I stopped in at 8:40 PM on a Friday night, well ahead of the posted 9 PM closing time on the door. I was told they were closed, with no explanation. In the restaurant industry, it’s standard to seat guests up until closing time—not to turn them away 20 minutes early. If there’s an earlier last seating policy, it should be clearly posted or communicated. Disappointing experience and poor customer service.

Went to eat there yesterday the service sucks really gave they didn’t want black people there first they tried to sit us only two of us at the middle table of the restaurant for 6 knowing it was a smaller table by the windows I insisted we sit by the window after we heard the hostess talking about us to another waitress then the waitress we had was very rude she was being very sarcastic about us asking about things on the menu after we got our food my friend glass was dirty the waitress was mad cause we ask for another glass she was saying that she squeezed the lemon in the drink without asking us if we wanted her to but that was not the problem there was a dirt spot inside the glass which was black my friend outed the lemonade into another glass got a napkin a wipe the glass inside n the black mark came off she was mad for us doing that then we get our bill she was watching to make sure we have her a tip when we got up from the table she grab the bill followed me got in front of me stood there and ask if I was going to leave her a tip loudly in front of the whole restaurant I told her the service was very weird but I did give her a $10.00 tip not for the service but I felt a certain way n I felt I had to give her a tip which I did but I never experienced this before from a waitress asking for a tip after she knew she was a bad waitress towards us n let me say this we was the only two black customers in the restaurant they did not want us to eat there we will never be back poor service n we feel they was very much prejudiced not sorry for saying that but we was treated badly

I can't even recall the last time I went out for dinner and been so extremely satisfied with everything from start to finish like I was today! From the free, off street parking to walking in and being greeted so warmly along with having a server, Megan, who was so attentive and kind. Great place, the atmosphere is amazing, food is always fresh and delicious (I have sensitive stomach and this is the only place that doesn't upset my stomach). Even the drinks are perfect. I have to give a shout-out to our server JuJu #2009. Now that lady LOVES HER JOB! I recommend this place highly and will definitely be back this summer.
