Absolute worst customer service I’ve ever had. They forgot about my order and it sat on the table for over 10 minutes. When we received it, it was cold. Ordered food for pickup and it was packaged and ready to go in under 10 minutes. I enjoyed the loaded hot dog on a poppyseed bun. Loved the European style hot dog and the pickle! The chili cheese dog and fries were just okay. The chili cheese dog made the bun pretty soggy and hard to eat. The fries were pretty plain crinkle cut fries and reminded me of Ore Ida frozen fries to be honest.

Drive thru service is terrible. No one answered the speaker. I drove up to the first window and no one showed up to the window for a few minutes. When someone showed up, they said the tablet died, no apology for the wait. No one greeted us at the second window until our drink and dessert was ready. They didn’t give us a spoon. They didn’t come back to the window until the next persons food was ready. They gave an attitude when I asked for a spoon. The customer service is absolutely terrible.

The food was disgusting and is nothing like the original Portillo’s in Chicago. I got a chicken sandwich and the aftertaste of grease was so bad that I didn’t finish it. I think they haven’t changed their fryer oil in a while and that’s all I tasted. The parking lot was empty and there was one other customer in front of us but they took almost ten minutes to make our food. I do not recommend coming here.

Got 2 hot dog combo, and a polish sausage dog and it was all delicious as usual! Got 2 large fries, one with cheese sauce. Both hot, CRISPY, and fresh! SOOOO Good in the cheese dip. Reminds me of cheese topped baked potatoes from Wendy's with my grandma when I was little ♥️🥹♥️. Got chicken strips for the first time, was SO full from the giant perfectly charred polish sausage that I could only eat one but they were SP FRESH and basically the best chicken strips you could ask for, the freshest grease and they were hot and stayed hot for so long! Their honey mustard is so thick and good as well, when my cup of it fell of the table it didn't spill 🙏🏻🤣. Sprite was good of course and that was the whole meal! Usually we get 4 of the hot dogs but this time tried something different and was not disappointed. Have been to 3 or so Portillo locations now and they are all PERFECT!!!!

Their food is amazing. I’ve been eating their food since when I lived in Chicago where they are based and the food is amazing. I’m not too hot on the French fries but their steak sandwich Italian steak sandwich is the best and I also like the cheese sauce is great to order with your french fries and my favorite of course is the chocolate cake and the strawberry shortcake and I love their chopped salads.

I would’ve given it five star please make sure if you are going through the drive-through for a takeout that you check your order. There’s been a lot of issues with the orders being incomplete or wrong so it’s an easy fix. Just make sure you check the order. They have gotten better about that , just need to get better about french fries they have great french fries and the sauce makes it OK but they kind of need to work on that and sometimes they are short staffed but I put all of that aside because the food is so good chicken sandwich and cheeseburgers and I love hotdogs and I love theirfood is great and it’s good to take home. The reason I’m not a big fan of actually eating inside because they have no Internet lol it’s a shame but anyway it’s definitely worth a try.

I love hanging out at Portillo's. The atmosphere is exactly the kind of thing I want. It's very loud, so bring some headphones or ear plugs if you have sensory issues like me. Service can be slow, but it's clear that they're working very hard back there—it's just very busy Besides, I'm here for the food and the atmosphere, not the service. My partner says the onion rings are more breading than onion, but aside from that everything we've gotten has been delicious. The chocolate cake is amazing, and the burgers are sooo good. This is definitely one of my favorite spots.

Warning to Potential Customers: Poor Service at Portillo's Madison Location

I regret to share my disappointing experience at the Portillo's location in Madison near the mall. The service was alarmingly slow and disorganized. Our orders were incorrectly prepared, and it appeared that the staff prioritized socializing over attending to customers. Despite not being particularly busy that evening, we were left waiting 23 minutes for our meal, only to see other customers who ordered after us served first.

When I brought my concerns to the attention of the manager, I was met with rudeness and a lack of accountability. This reflects a troubling lack of professionalism among the staff, who seemed indifferent to the needs of waiting customers.

It’s clear that this location is in dire need of a management overhaul, including the hiring of new staff who understand the importance of customer service. I can't recommend this Portillo's to anyone at this time. I hope the owners and regional managers take this feedback seriously and address the issues promptly. Zero for the service and those staff members at the time!

A group of friends and I went for lunch on 10/1/24. We were greeted by a friendly woman at the register, which was a nice start. However, after placing my order, I noticed that my fries and soda had been upgraded to large sizes without asking me, resulting in an additional $5–$7 charge. All of my friends had the same issue. When we asked about the upcharges, the associate seemed confused and told us that’s just how they’re trained to upcharge. At the register, five meal options were listed, each showing a sandwich, fries, drink, and price. But when we asked, we were told there are no combo meals—it’s all à la carte. This was misleading, as the menu doesn’t make that clear. One of my friends requested a refund, which they did provide. Still, I won’t be coming back. I feel this business is taking advantage of its customers.

I had a not so good dinner from Madison's Portillo West so I let customer service know. They gave me a free meal to reimburse me but it expired before I had a chance to use it. I asked instead if I could have a piece of cake for my elderly mother's birthday. I never heard back but I didn't mind. But THEN a few months later, I got a really nice email saying they had missed my mother's birtday but they were giving us two free cake slices AND a meal as I hadn't used the first one.
