This restaurant was a great stop for my wife and I. It was very clean inside and the staff was extremely friendly. The food was also great. The cheese curds were phenomenal as well as the walleye sandwich I ordered. The atmosphere is family friendly.

Every time I go here we wait over an hour for food. Just tried this place again and got seated at 7pm and ordered shortly after that. We ended having to leave at 8:30pm without our food due to the wait. We were never told the reason for the delay and no one apologized for the wait. The waiters are rude also - one guy told me “watch out” when I stood up form my chair at the table and he was behind me. Never going here again and giving no more second chances.

We went to Powell's for dinner in 8/19/2025. We were greeted by the hostess that had a pleasant smile. She explained the menu and she said your server is Allison. We waited over 20 minutes and Allison never came to the table to serve us. There was other parties came in after we arrived and were taken care of immediately. Sorry we got up and left.

We stopped by as it had beautiful outside water view dining. That's where the good ended. Service was just ok, despite mid afternoon and not busy at all. Food on the menu looked to be average. I guess I expected so much better from a beautiful establishment. Nope. And the pricing is on the higher end for mediocre food. I asked if the shrimp was hand breaded or hand dipped there at the restaurant and server said yes. So I got it. It was a minced shrimp pre battered and frozen.. Like frozen stuff you can get from your own grocery store. The breading was thick and minimal amount of minced shrimp. Super disappointed for the price. Fries... Boring.
My friend got the fish sandwich and homemade chips... Fish again was the frozen variety type... Also disappointing considering the area. Came with a bag of potato chips... Like you can't even make your own fresh chips.... The whole meal was a disappointment. Spoke to who I assume was the manager. Who had to school me on the difference between hand breaded at factory versus at the establishment. I hope he slept better that night after the lecture. I wouldn't go back and unfortunately by the looks of other recent posts... Our visit was not any different. Sad, because the establishment and outside dining on the water is so beautiful. Really need to step up your game.

Me and some friends were visiting hayward from illinois and this was close to our cabin so we thought we would try it. Generally i don’t like leaving reviews unless it’s positive, however, as someone who has worked as both line cooks and as a waitress the food and service were both subpar. You can tell the burger is frozen, it was very dry, the menu states that all burgers are cooked to medium unless otherwise stated and out of 5 people everyone’s burger was well done. The fries were just gross, you could tell they were fried in the same oil as the fish, and that the oil was not clean. The fries came out with a brown hard exterior, and had a “crust” on them, to me that indicates the oil is not clean. Our waitress was very inattentive, after getting our first round of drinks and ordering food it was about a 20 minute wait for the waitress to come back, after multiple attempts of getting her attention. For the price of the food, it was not worth it, for a minimum 15$ burger without fries i would hope the burgers would at least be fresh and not frozen. This places ONLY saving grace were their cheese curds. 10/10 cheese curds, they were amazing. I highly recommend!!

Service was very good, sweet waitress. Food came fast but honestly it wasn’t very delicious . I got the “Lakeside Tacos “ which is a Cod taco with some cabbage. The Cod was good but the shell was stale and it was just plain. They gave you Chipotle Sauce on the side but it tasted like a spicy wet hotdog in a way. Fries were good .

Waited 40 minutes to get a table even though it didn't appear that busy. Waitress brought our drinks and took our order. Our food arrived over and hour later. Other patrons were complaining. The prime rib was good, but the chicken sandwich was small and rubbery. We specifically asked for no onions and of course it had onions. About 50 minutes into our wait, the waitress finally asked if needed more drinks. I thought drinks was their money maker. We are staying nearby so we expected to frequent this place more during the week. We really don't have that much time for poor food and service.

I was immediately greeted by Grace, the bartender/server. She was delightful! Helpful. Attentive. I love a good fish fry, but really wanted a burger. It was thick, juicy, medium rare. It was exactly what I wanted. The clam chowder was good, not great. The music didn’t fit my idea of up north lakeside restaurant, but I’m not a regular, I’m visiting, so let the regulars be happy. I had a fantastic experience, especially as I was coming in closer to closing time. Grace is an amazing asset to Powell’s and the fact they seem to feel the same way about her, speaks volumes of the owners. Highly recommend. I would definitely go back. …need to try the fish fry.

We had a family gathering for my nephews birthday here during the week (about 25 people). Staff and owner were absolutely incredible hosts, attentive to the groups needs, and put out a fabulous burger and chicken sandwich spread (build your own) with sides. Staff was incredibly welcoming, professional, and fun. Yard games were appreciated for family and kids alike, and the food was top notch. Restaurant was clean and we were please to see that other customers were still able to dine in and enjoy the great menu as well, with no lack of service. Consistent service, food, and experience every time. This place doesn't disappoint.

I have eaten at Powells maybe 20 times. Eighteen were Friday for the fish. They serve walleye. I have eaten fish frys all over western Wisconsin and this one never disappoints. Never mind all of the “all you can eat “ places serving crappy cheap fish, Powells serves one big walleye filet that is perfectly cooked every time.

I have eaten other things on their menu and they are good….the fish is really the best.

It’s great to see something where Famous Dave’s previously was. Food was good, excellent fish sandwich. Family member said Jala-poppin Jack burger was lacking heat. The chicken teriyaki bowl was very spicy! Not sweet at all. Otherwise the bowl did have excellent chicken, not overcooked, and beautiful veggies.

I wanted to love this place. It is perfectly located, right off the water. So easy to drive up or come on your boat, and the facility itself is actually super nice. Everything is well taken care and the inside looks great. they have activities outside for kids to do, all in really great shape. I’ve been to many “country or lake” bar and grill type restaurants and many of them are very rundown. This one is not that way at all, and the staff was super nice.

I gave it a 3 star review based purely on the food. The burger was below average, the fries were decent but my wife’s tacos were also super below average. I usually buy a burger when I go out and this one was obviously a cookie cutter frozen burger, with a dry and not so tasty bun. They may have other things on the menu that are good, but the burger was not one of them.

Again, wanted to love it cause the atmosphere was perfect. But this place seriously needs to up their food game. That would make it one of the best lakeside restaurants I’ve ever been to.

Cool restaurant and good ambiance. My food was fantastic and the drinks were good too. The reason for the two star was the service. It was very bad. We were told that we could not get a baked potato because they were reserved for the prime rib orders but I overheard at the bar that they sold out of prime rib. They forgot to put my wife's order in and scrambled to order her dish when the table's food order came out. The manager/owner came over and got involved because of the poor experience and overall they comped 50% off her dish ($7). They just seemed to not really care. It may very well be a good restaurant but the service was terrible and inexcusable. It's too bad because food was good but i'd steer clear of the restaurant if you expect good service.

We've been there four times now. Three times on Fridays and once on a Thursday. Thursday was far less busy. We try to get there at 4:00 on Fridays to avoid a wait but they have lawn games to keep you busy and an outside bar to help pass the time if you do have to wait.

Love sitting outside and have enjoyed every single server.

Not a bad place for lunch—they have a very basic bar food type menu. The best part of the meal was my kids chicken strips which have an amazing seasoning on them. As much as I'd like to leave a wonderful review, the reality is that the only thing Powell's has going is its location on Round Lake. Yes, the patio is great for dining, but the food is lackluster. Heavily salted, but virtually unseasoned otherwise. Even though the dining room had only a few occupied tables, the staff seemed overworked or really stressed out - but not friendly or even as though they wanted to be there. I'll give it another try sometime and update this review if things change.

Giving an overall 1 star only because of the hostess. The food was good, as was the wait service for a very busy time. The hostess, however, told us it'd be a 45 min wait, with a wink, saying it would likely only be a half hour. After watching a table for 4 ( the number in our party) sit empty for 40 min, we were seated after over an hour wait. The hostess then proceeded to berate us after we asked why. She told us that if we ever had experience in food service, we'd understand. Apparently, at Powell's, the customer is always wrong. She was simply an unhappy and unpleasant troll. If we see her the next time we come, we'll turn around.

My husband and I ate here tonight, 8/21/2023. We ordered chicken strips. My husband ate his and I began mine and it tasted strange. I cut into it and was still raw. When the waitress came over to ask about our food, I showed her the chicken strips and she whisked them away. She asked if we wanted something else. Not knowing what to do and still hungry we ordered cheese curds and a giant pretzel. The food arrived--the cheese curds were good, however the giant pretzel was burned on the bottom. We were there for their 4th of July Event. We sat at the bar had couple drinks, listened to live music they had going, then took in the fireworks display over the lake. It was a very fun night!! Shout out to the Bartendar's at this restaurant, they were sooo good at what they did, respectful and really friendly towards everyone who came in. These guys never disappoint!! Great food, awesome tiki bar, and good drinks! Fan favorite for me is the Gyros and a mojito! So dang good! Plus the owners are so nice and always working hard every time I'm there! Which shows a lot! Definitely needs to be the next place you stop!

First time customers. Location is great. We were greeted right away when we arrived. Immediately sat at a table on the beautiful patio overlooking the lake. Very pleasant server. Drinks and food came out quickly. After eating, we finished up our visit with several of the "yard games" that were set up for their customers. Very clean and well kept. Would definitely come back.

Ended up “lunching” here while on a convertible road trip! SCORE!!! The cheese burger was delish-juicy and done to absolute perfection. We really like the limited menu selection-not so overwhelming. Beautiful lake view from the patio, their summer hanging baskets are lovely, families playing all kinds of yard games, just a perfect meal to wind up a 3 day road trip. It was a fun place to be.

Food was okay, we stopped for the Fish Fry, and a single Filet was offered with a small handful of fries. Northern WI typically provides a much better value for Friday Fish Fry. The price tag in this case is greater than the food and experience provided. Spicy Black Bean Burger was really good. A family of three ran north of $80, Fish Tales down the road serves the same quality if meal for half of that.

The Friday Fish Fry (You can get baked also) never disappoints! The fish is wild caught Canadian Walleye. The beer batter is light and crispy with flaky and tender Walleye inside. The fries are crispy on the outside and tender inside. The tater sauce is definitely NOT from a jar. Definitely a MUST if you're in the Hayward area!
