I had the steak. I would have to say it was above average but not extraordinary. My wife had the perch. She said she was disappointed. Service was subpar as we had to ask for bread that was included, no return for water, drinks, to see how we liked the food or if we needed anything like tartar sauce.

I’d give zero stars if I could. We were there for half an hour and nobody even spoke to us. Started with great non muddled old fashioneds at the bar. We were greeted at our table with homemade bread & our salads. Dinners include a salad AND soup - the French onion was fantastic! Gary Natrop is back! In case you missed out, Prime Steer is back and better than ever! Gary re-took the business after the previous owner drove an awesome place to dine directly into the ground. Thank goodness Gary is back in the kitchen serving up the best dishes as it was before the first time he ran the business! Our meals were fantastic with no complaints 😋 really didn't need a knife to cut the tenderloin because it was tender enough just with a fork! The Steer is back on the top of our to go places. The bartenders are prompt and pour a good drink, I could taste the whiskey. We were pleasantly surprised by the soup and salad served at our table, nice compromise for the old salad bar,as good as it was . The food was done to perfection. Tenderloin was as tasty and as close to melt in your mouth as possible. My wife always gets a doggy bag, not at the Prime Steer. Gary knows the restaurant business!

Decided to come here before going to eve of destruction with about an hour to spare. We walk in, maybe 7 other customers in the building, and three have menus. I'm thinking ok, this won't take long at all. But we ended up waiting 30 mins to even see our waitress. Finally got seated around 40 mins, ordered the ribeye and tenderloin. Both cooked to perfect temp, but the Seasonings are non-existent. $30+ steaks, and you'd think they could season it? I'm always looking for the next place to get a nice tasting steak and sadly, this place isn't it.

We are not from the area so chose the Prime Steer Supper Club based on the positive reviews and we’re not disappointed. Service was excellent in fact a table next to us had an emergency and had to change their meal to-go just as it was being brought to the table, the waitress immediately brought it back to the kitchen, boxed it up and had them out the door in just a couple minutes. I’m sure there were many hands helping to accommodate this quick change. Good job staff!!!

Started out at the bar with a couple of drinks. Bartender was very personable and remembered our drinks. Waitress gave us menus and took our order. Came back to give us our table number and salads were waiting. Then the soup came. Seafood chowder was very good and LG had the french onion... a bit different take, cheese was just sprinkled on top vs baked. Tenderloin was melt in your mouth good and haddock was really good! Wild rice was very tasty also. LG had tenderloin and stuffed shrimp but sent the shrimp back and got the haddock with hers and the veggies.
Had a little room for peppermint cheese cake and pink squirrel for dessert.
All around great meal, our waitress Madilynn was very pleasant and prompt with service. Madilynn! Don't forget to offer desserts before bringing the check or someone else may miss out! It was so good!

We were disappointed. The new owners got rid of the salad bar. The food was not great either. We went on a Friday early evening but did not order fish. Big mistake. My supposed center cut port chops were tough as leather and husband's steak not much better. Having worked in restaurants I think I know what happened. I think kitchen did not have any fresh or thawed pork (It was a Friday and not supposed to eat pork on Friday right, so my mistake I guess). When you thaw pork on defrost in a microwave it tends to turn into leather. Sad because we used to LOVE ❤️ this place.

This is a response to Gary Buchinger’s review,

As a witness to this scenario, Gary arrived around 7pm as me and my wife were already there probably 15 minutes before he and his wife arrived. They sat down around 15 minutes before us while me and my wife were having a couple of drinks. Not sure why he was upset about waiting to be seated for so long when they were occupied with people finishing their dinner and leaving and clearing tables for more people and preparing for the next round of guests. They sat near me and my wife so we saw and heard everything. Their food came and he (Gary B.) complained that the steak was wrong and the waitress brought it back and got what he (Gary B.) wanted. She set the steak in front of him, not his wife. After eating over three quarters of their meal, the wife must have complained that she must have ordered fries and not rice. So he (Gary B.) complained to another waitress that his wife ordered fries and NOT rice. I heard him. So when the waitress picked up the rice to take back to the kitchen and get fries, he (Gary B.) got up and grabbed the waitress. He then told her that he also wanted to keep the rice to eat as well and I watched him eat it. UNREAL. Well that sounds like someone who is just looking for a free meal. Then Gary (the “Cook”) came out to talk to him (Gary B.) to see what was going on. In the meantime I could see the waitresses seemed extremely frustrated and stressed, as was I. When me and my wife got up I walked over to him (Gary B.) and I told him “why don’t you take your business elsewhere.” I also told him he was being a jack wagon. He told me to take it outside. Funny man!!! I went and paid my bill, then I left after apologizing to the “cook” Gary about how I shouldn’t have said something, but I have to admit that it was very hard to witness him taking advantage of the restaurant and talking down on the owner and his hard working establishment. If you read this Gary Buchinger, get a life! The “cook” doesn’t need people like you at the Prime Steer, and I’m pretty sure Gary the cook is doing just fine in this business and he has done well in the past. I have been going there since 1999 and I have enjoyed it as I have seen firsthand amongst many others. Also, the reason why people may want out of the business is because of people like you.

First time visit was last evening. Giving an “10” overall. Bartender and wait staff were extremely friendly and respectful (including new trainee). Food quality and portions were at highest level. One of the best ribeyes I have ever had, cooked to perfection! Meal also included soup and salad brought to the table, choice of potato or vegetable, and homemade bread - all delicious. Also tried the onion rings and shrimp cocktail - again both large portions and very tasty. We had called ahead to let them know that we would be a party of 7 arriving around 5:15pm. When we arrived the bar was near empty and we told the bartender that we were the party of seven that had called prior. The male bartender acknowledged that and made us drinks while we waited for the rest of the group. When they arrived we told him that we were all here and he once again acknowledged us. After about 15-20 minutes we asked the female bartender and at this time she pulled out a list of names and asked us who we were. We told her and she stated that we were not on the list and the process was to check in, which we had done. She stated she would work us in. After 20ish minutes she told us our table was getting set up. We waited and asked after 20ish minutes and her comment was "the waitress didn't come yet?" We then waited about another 20 minutes. We watched as people who arrived after us were brought to the dining room before us. We finally were brought back around 7pm. When we got to the dining room there was an empty dining room with only three other tables with people. We did not get an apology or any explanation as to why we had to wait from 5:15 to 7:00 p.m. We would have left but they kept on telling us we were about to get seated. The food was actually pretty good but we would never go back related to the amount of time we had to wait as well as the customer service.

My party got to the restaurant around 6:00. We were told about an hour wait. After an hour... Ish I asked for an update and was told we were 3rd on the list. 50 minutes later we were told that our waitress would take our order shortly. 20 minutes after that we asked for an update and they completely lost our reservation. At this point we informed them we were leaving. I was told to wait and that they would give me a gift card for the inconvenience... She came back with a $10 gift card. The group of 6 next to us left about 20 minutes earlier for the same reasons.

In short. We spent $60 on drinks. Our spot in line was forgotten multiple times and we were given an insultingly low gift card to make up for the inconvenience.

I want to stress that offering a gift card in that situation was more than I expected, but the amount was more insulting than apologetic. For a place that averages $23 a plate... $10 just doesn't do it.... Don't even offer it. I could give each member of my party of 4 $2.50 or I can frame it and hang it on my wall as a reminder of how hilariously awful the experience was.

This used to be my one and only go to for supper clubs. Unfortunately it has definitely gone downhill. We went on a weeknight and there was very few people there, took us over an hour to get a table. It wasn’t like we were spending a ton at the bar. We just honestly wanted a table. The steak was good and cooked properly. But there’s just no wow factor. Which I get is hard to do in a supper club but service was mediocre. It’s just another steak place. Lately we have found that they are not open very frequently. And Facebook seems to suggest they close a lot for staffing issues. But the supper club across the street remains open, so maybe they need to look at their way of staffing (pay, hours, etc)

And though I can not prove it, it sure seemed to be a lesser cut of meat. Not much flavor. The hashbrown’s were inedible, they tasted like deep fried grease and were burned. Too expensive i can get Tenderlion and shrimp some place else very good for the price they want just for a steak dinner

The food was ok. My steak had zero flavor. The service was dismal. In addition every time someone enters or leaves the kitchen there a long bang from the door. The one good thing was the old fashioned.

Love the atmosphere here! It reminds me of my childhood. I also love the drinks they made including a perfect Wisconsin Old Fashioned.

Went on a Tues night and waited for over an hour to be seated for some reason (was very slow). Couldn't order their special of prime rib oscar med rare for some reason (was told med was the best they could do) ordered a different steak med rare and it came out well done. Chairs were rickety. They started taking the salad bar down (7:20) before we had our food and I was unable to get more of what we desired. Seafood platter was all over cooked and rubbery. I wonder if there was new ownership or management since last time I was there (about 9 months ago). With this all being said, the waitress was extremely nice and pleasant.
