I've loved public for a long time, since they were in their original location. They've grown and changed so much, and they still make great beer. I miss the old aesthetic, I miss drawing on coasters, and local art on the walls. I miss the food from before lakefront, not that their food is bad at all, they just offer less now. My biggest beef though: please hire some more people, halfway through trivia night, ordered an hour ago, we're starving 😩

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Me and my friend went there on October 11, 2025. What comedy show. We know we had to seat ourselves, which was fine. We set at the table for about 15 minutes before we notice that we had to scan a QR code to order food. I was like okay….. but not one waitress even giving us any eye contact. So the menu was pretty busy they were sold out a couple of items, so we said that we couldn’t go wrong with chicken tenders And when our food arrive, it was BURNT🔥
Then my friend went to the bar and order 2 drinks and the lady bartender shortened us a shot. We literally watching her pouring the little liquid she had that she ran out of into one of our glass, then filled it up with s as bunch of juice. Then charged my friend 20.00! WOW….. like I said HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NASTY FOOD. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

My husband and I hosted our rehearsal dinner here on September 25, 2025, and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly accommodating, and the food was fantastic—especially the cheese curds, which were a huge hit with our family and friends. The beverage selection was amazing and was large enough to please everyone in our group. Later in the evening, they began their regular trivia night and kindly offered to close the doors for us, but we actually loved the lively atmosphere—it added a fun, unexpected touch to an already memorable night. One of the most thoughtful moments came when a staff member brought out several types of forks for my grandmother, who has difficulty gripping certain utensils. We truly appreciated that extra level of care. Highly recommend this venue for any special gathering!

First time visitor and I don't know why it took us so long to stop here. The place is quite large and has quite the amenities and the daily features like trivia night and others are entertaining. We sat at the bar and the bartender (I wish I had gotten her name) was friendly and engaging. They have an extensive selection of brews. I enjoyed the porter especially. Our meal was prepared as ordered and I recommend the smash burger, very tasty.

This is a cool brew pub right in the heart of Kenosha. It's a pretty large space, and despite being packed on a Saturday night we were able to find seating for our group of six. They have a good assortment of beers, and I really enjoyed their sour (though I wish it was on tap and not in a can). The menu is typical brewery food, though we really enjoyed the cheese curds (fortune cookie flavored as the seasonal option!). They have a small kids menu, but most of their seating is high top tables so this might not be the best option for families with younger kids. This is a seat yourself and order through a QR code place, so service is limited but was friendly enough. We did get our food and drinks quickly though. Definitely a place to check out if you're a beer fan.

Wow, how the mighty have fallen...stopped in here Saturday, July 5, 2025, about 7:00PM. A couple sitting at the bar and a party of four on the other side of the bar. ONE table with people seated. A worker was sweeping up and saw us come in. We went to the beer list above the bar to review our options and wait for a bartender. Apparently, the bartender was on the backside of the bar, out of our view, on HIS cell phone. He never came over to offer service. My husband went around the corner of the bar, locked eyes with the bartender, and the bartender took his phone and walked away from the bar. The couple seated joked that maybe we should text him. My thought is if you don't want to work, then quit.

Guess what? Went around the corner to Rustic Road and were immediately greeted and served. Not sure how this place stays in business...we've yet to come in on a weekend and see more than 10 people in here. This used to be our go to, but no more. Rustic Road is the brewery for us.

I was first taken aback by the lack of bartenders and workers. But found the QR code ordering system quite pleasant simple and very quick to get our drinks and food.. by far the best cheese curds I've ever had mouth-watering, I dream of them type cheese curds. This was such an awesome spot to pass an afternoon and I honestly can't wait to go back! This brewery is the one that Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee acquired, and you can tell if you're familiar with Lakefront when it comes to the signage and how the tour is run.

We knew it would be a good place when we came in at 230 pm on a Friday and it was already pretty hopping. We grabbed a drink and settled on a couch to play one of the many games they had available. We were about to head out when one of the staff asked if we wanted to go on the tour for free since it was their customer appreciation day and we said definitely. And all I can say is you should definitely go on the tour if you have a chance!

The tour was awesome and I loved all the history it covered, both about the building, location, and beer. A full pour of beer was included halfway through, and you got another beer at the end as well as some additional swag.

The beer itself was very tasty and they have a huge variety to suit everyone's taste. From sours to ales to stouts they've got everything. We didn't give their food a try but I can safely say when we go back we definitely will!

2/24/25 update: Did the brewery tour this past Sunday and it was awesome! Drew is the best tour guide and we had a blast. Would definitely recommend to everyone!

Was in town yesterday 2/11/2025 for work. Went over to Publics after meetings for a beer. There was a young dark haired female bartender. She was talking to "a friend", I guess, on the other side of the bar. There were perhaps 6 guests sitting at the bar. I sat at the bar for better than 10min and she spent that time talking on the other side of the bar. Never noticed me. Never even walked the bar to check on guests. Finally walked out.

I almost wrote a bad review about this place but they redeemed themselves. It was my first time in Kenosha and I was exploring the downtown area. I happened to find Public. I'm a craft beer ethusiast so I was excited to see what they had to offer. It's a gorgeous brewery with a lovely tin ceiling. I ordered a flight - the table beer and Snowblower (sorry if I forgot the name) was the best of what I tried. I also ordered a chicken sandwich. 30 minutes pass, 40 minutes pass. 45-50 minutes pass. My watress either forgot to hit a button or maybe there were tech issues. As an older woman I was kind of thinking I was having a Grace and Frankie moment. Even though I'm an older single woman I'm always, polite, order quality food and tip very well. Anyway my chicken sandwich finally came my way. They comped 2 small pours, gave me extra chips and 2 tokens for beers on my next visit. So in the end they didn't ignore me and I will return.

We’d been here for drinks a couple times and loved it. Decided to have dinner here tonight, that was a mistake.

The appetizer and entrees came out at the same time (after we asked about not getting them). The curds were stale and cold. The burgers were over seasoned, dry and lukewarm.

Overall, a disappointing experience. $71 and left with an empty feeling…..

This is an amazing place! Having spent the morning birding with my wife in the Illinois Beach State Park North Unit, I then looked up nearby brewpubs (I am a home brewer) and landed on this place. Public Brewing has a welcoming atmosphere, great food, great beers, and the one person behind the bar with whom we dealt (Drew) knows his beers and is a man with awesome people skills. I had the Black Bean Burger and kettle chips, and my wife had the salad. Both excellent! We both loved the Dubbel and the Chocolate Birthday Cake Stout. Don't let the name of the latter fool you; it is not over-the-top sweet, and the dominant flavor is coffee. Yum! If we lived closer, this would be a go-to place for us. As it is, when we next find ourselves in the area, we will be here.

Really liked the place and atmosphere. They brew all beer in the basement, have a pool table, shuffleboard, arcade games, and some board games to play. The food was pretty disappointing. Ordered the nachos and received stale chips. We tried to get the servers attention but a wedding party had just come in and the server got too busy attending to all of them. We ended up just pushing through the stale chips. I got the double build your own smash burger and it came out pretty dry. Was also missing all sauce on it. PUBLIC Craft Brewing is right downtown Kenosha and serves several beers of their own design. It is a big industrial space with games and lively music. They serve sandwich, burgers, Mac and cheese, and bowls. I came here to try the beer, they had 22, I did not try them all. They had sours, two blondes, American IPA, NEIPA, Cold IPA, Imperial IPA, a hefe, Belgian Tripel, Irish red, Irish dry stout, coffee porter, peanut butter porter, ESB, an Amber, lager, and a spiced scotch ale. The scotch and the dry porter were my favorites here, the rest were all fine. The service was fine. It's a big space with decent service and beer, if you haven't been here, try it out.

Great beer! Service was confusing. We sat ourselves, because there wasn't a host area. Not many servers for a nice Saturday. My husband loved his buffalo wings with bone. Daughter got a steak rice bowl. Looked and sounded good. But they added so much Italian dressing to it, so she only ate bits and pieces. Most of it got thrown away. I had a gyro and instead of fries, asked for falafel, since I saw it on the menu for rice bowl. They nicely accomadated my request. But all 3 falafel were still undercooked and raw dough inside. Bummed because they looked good. Gyro was interesting. Loss of veggies then meat, and large amount of hummus in it. I like hummus, but after trying... Not in my gyro. I did eat whole thing, because I was starving. We had to get check from different server, because just not enough staff. So in all, I'd go again, but just for beers only. I'd order from bar, and just sit somewhere. Probably no food.

Like many reviewers, I wish that this place would improve its service. I love their rice bowls - they’re amazing! But good luck getting one. I went there for dinner last night - twelve people sat around the bar, and those were the only customers in the place. I stood and waited at the bar for 5 minutes, trying to make eye contact with the bartender to let her know that eventually I’d like to place an order. No luck. Finally I sat down at a huge empty table next to the bar, and continued to try to make contact with the three waitstaff that were working. No one would acknowledge my presence. After a total of 15 minutes waiting, I got up and left. The service here is the worst.

Soooo I happen to stumble past public brewing and I want to be the first to say that the customer service and beer was so good!!!!! Lindsay was my bartender and she went above and beyond making sure things were squared away and good consistently checking in on me to make sure my experience was great....(it was) Mary was another person that stuck out in a major way with the professionalism and cheery attitude...the two of them were buzzing around handling everything and it was great to watch and be attended by these lovely ladies! Gotta admit, all in all this place is a top 3 favorite in all of Kenosha, and for so many reasons. First of all, the beer! They constantly rotate their offerings, with all kinds of unique and different beers. My personal favorite is their summer beer, Bomb Pop. It's a truly epic and delicious sour beer that I just can't get enough of. The food, a constant experiment. Their menu has changed several times over the last year alone and it's never disappointed. Miss the tacos for sure, but their current offerings are all delish. The service has NEVER been anything but open and friendly. From the beertenders to the greeters and servers, it's like walking into a friend's house. Every time we have a visitor from out of town we bring them here and they have never disappointed. We love bringing our daughter here too. We play shuffle board, foosball, darts and board games. The nights here are even more fun. So far I've done the open mic night, which had shockingly good music, and the trivia night. Both were awesome hangs with friends. I really can't say enough food things about Public

Our bartender, Lindsey, was amazing! She checked on us regularly and was very attentive- she was sweet as pie. We felt well taken care of! The food and beer was amazing and the atmosphere was inviting and exciting. We love Public and can’t wait to come back!

Had never been there before, bartender knew it was our first time because he asked. He was super friendly at first. Told him I was starving and he gave us menus. He then disappeared for over 20 minutes. When he came back it was obvious that he was under the influence, asked me my food order 4 times because he couldn't remember. When he finally hit send he told us we couldn't order because it was 3 minutes past kitchen close he then said he would check with the kitchen to see if they would make it and then never came back. Avoided us an stayed by the people he obviously was friends with. Took me flagging down three different people before I could actually pay so that I could leave and go somewhere to get food. Everyone was nice but this was such a poor experience, probably won't return.

Myself and my fiance came here today for a bite and we were definitely pleased! She ordered the bourbon burger and it was fantastic! I didn't get a picture of it, but it was so so good. I ordered their Italian beef, and being someone who is picky about their beefs, I gotta say that theirs is probably the best Kenosha has to offer! Fresh, crispy bread, perfectly cooked savory beef, perfect au jus and hot giardeniara. For $14, I was absolutely satisfied with my experience. Not to mention their unique selection of craft beers! 100000% will be coming here regularly!

Everything is expensive. They close at 7pm on Sunday, which is pretty early. The drinks are good though and it is a great environment to have a party/gathering. There is Board games and shuffle board to enjoy while your there.

Friendly service, large space, pretty solid beers. There is plenty of street parking available and when we visited on a Sunday afternoon there were plenty of open tables and seats at the bar. The tap list is pretty extensive - we tried a peach blonde and an amber ale, both were good. A little pricey for the beers, but worth a stop. They have food available (mostly appetizers and sandwiches, burgers - bar food) available, but we didn't eat there. I would return if I was in the area.

Last weekend we were in the area for our daughter's prom and our son was performing in the area as well. We planned to take pictures at a hotel uo there and then get dinner somewhere after we drop daughter off and before son's show. Well, needless to say, the hotel burned us , and others in the ohotos so we were screwed in where to take pictures I side, because weather not cooperating. The Public was a block away and stepped inside for girls to warm up and wait for a friend, and we checked the menu, for later. We noticed they had a staircase there and a downstairs not being occupied. It was a nice set up. We also liked the menu and decided to come back for our dinner after drop off. We noticed that we could take some nice photos downstairs, so I went to a staff member and explained our situation and asked if we could take some photos downstairs of the girls before prom. He said that would be fine and we eneded up getring really nice photos, and thr girls were happy something worked out.We wanted to give a huge shout out for them allow9ng us to do that and making prom as special as it should be. It was so kind of them to do that. Also we returned for our dinner and the waitress was very nice , food was great, and so was beer. We gave them our business either way bc we were so grateful for them helping us on a bad situation. But it turned out to be a great choice and definitely will be returning there again. Glad to see businesses still going above and beyond in customer service . You provided great memories and fun for those girls. Always will be thankful!

We were here for a beer tasting event. Everything was done so well, timing, food, staff, organization of the promo items at the end, raffle. The downstairs is warm and welcoming, clean, and laid out really well for small events. The food was really good. The upstairs is well lit and open with both tables, bar, and comfy seating. Good place to dine or hang out and people watch or read. There were spaces for live music too, but I have never been during that time. The beer tasting was lovely, great event that I will participate in again in the future should they offer another one. Thank you!!

Nice setting and delicious beers. Service was a bit meh, they took our beer and dumped them because we had set it on the bar next to our jackets whilst playing fusbal, even though they were full. Also, they didn't have sand for the beautiful shuffle board they have which is a shame, so we couldn't play it. The bartender looked at me weird when I asked for sand xD

If you haven't been here recently, I suggest that you stop in. New ownership has done a great job upgrading the menu and the staff. My wife and I brought our oldest son for lunch today and was served by one of the owners, Andrew. We all agreed his approach was a huge step up! First let me say that food here USED to be amazing. I used to tell every friend I brought here for the great beer and eclectic decor how the cheese curds were the best they’d ever tried and and they’d be skeptical (even call bullshit…) then agree after tasting them. The establishment has changed chef’s and the entire menu is different. The new list is pretty ho-hum and the cheese curds were maybe the lamest I’ve ever had. Seriously I wouldn’t eat here again. I’m hoping this review hits hime with ownership to change again and find a menu more fitting of their champion quality beer and hip vibe.

Just love this craft brewery. So many selections. Every taste you can imagine and a staff that are just so much fun and laid back!! Sheridan is always fun to chat with… we can solve the worlds problems one taster at a time. Plus she’s pretty knowledgeable of just about every taste and style of beer. Been here a few times. I can’t give them less than two stars because the atmosphere is fun and inviting. However, I would not suggest being a single person coming here they will just ignore you unless they know you, and no sitting at the bar doesn’t make it any better. They will serve you your first round but if you want to order food good luck. I know I am not the most outspoken person but never once did anyone ask me if I was ready to order food after being handed a menu. I felt completely invisible and I end up walking out and left my tab opening leaving them I note to just charge the 20%. I spent my whole day at working waiting to get off so I could go here because I wanted to try a new beer and some more of their nachos… maybe I will try again but let’s just say I will be hesitant if I am by myself again.

This is a great place for beers and socializing however we were unable to get anything to eat as the kitchen was closed. I understand staff shortages etc. that is currently everywhere and I am more than sympathetic. No snacks, can't order in... For future reference even peanuts, popcorn would be good... They would have gotten us to stay longer if some food option/ snack was offered.

This place has everything. Amazing beer, great service, great cheese curds and plenty of entertainment. It’s also massive so there’s plenty of space to spread out. We sat in their lounging areas that are set up super cute and comfy! They also have games, bird games, coloring for kids, and had a movie theater set up in one side of the brewery playing ‘Surfs Up’ how much better does it get!

Not the place you want to have a group gathering or celebration! Each person in our party paid $18 for a buffet of food. (Drinks were individually purchased at the bar). Our group paid for 80 people and we received food for 40. And the food for 40 would have really only fed a team of little leaguers! When management was asked where the rest of the food was we were told that was all that was ordered! Not true! There was zero communication between the event staff and management. No one in my family or the person organizing got to eat at all! Everyone else had slim to nothing to eat!!!! We would have stayed all evening and drank mediocre beer if we would have been fed but instead We left and will never go back! That’s bad business. The only reason I gave them two stars was because bar service was good (beer was just ok) and the place was clean.
