Interesting. Definitely not like a chain restaurant. The only problem is the entrance road is about half as wide as it should be.

Very good meal tonight. All entries were good and as ordered. One diner enjoyed the sweet barbecue sauce on the ribs. I would not have because I prefer more of tangy sauce.

The service is what made the experience for my group celebrating a birthday. Alex our server was prompt, attentive, personable and unexpectedly handsome. Like in that inviting Paul Rudd kind of way. The kind of guy you wanna hug grab beers and he'll get you home safely. I was so moved by this man that through the underground tunnel and back at the bar I summoned management with the authority of a genuine Karen. I expressed my pleasure having Alex as our server by embracing management with a full on hug. His body language gave off a little uneasiness so I really pulled him closer and whispered "don't be shy bring it in" and he finally wrapped both arms around me and we were stuck in our own moment of rustic charm of the room highlighted by my choice of handcrafted evening scent of cederwood, lemongrass, tobacco, with subtle notes blood orange oil. As we finally released i expressed to management that my baked cod was unfortunately underwhelming the service however was worth every disappointing bite I refused to take after the first few. Our party left left a generous tip as well as myself asking management to share the same embrace with Alex as a thank you for making the evening special. I can only assume he was still stuck in the moment of what we shared by the look on his face. Or maybe the some of the finer notes in my evenings pick of oils had him puzzled. Nonetheless the drinks were great service was great and hopefully the embrace was passed on.

Spouse and I came to the old house for a quiet fish fry. Service was good. Food came out very quickly. The pretzel perch was excellent. The slaw was good and the muffin a nice touch. Their much touted potato item is good but small. One star taken away for cold air vent in floor blowing on our legs.
Reservations for the house are a must.

Our server was excellent. His name was Robert. I had the crispy chicken salad and it was delicious. Love the honey mustard dressing. The tomato vegetable bisque soup was amazing. Everyone at our table of eight enjoyed their lunch. The salmon salad was excellent with a vinaigrette dressing. Two people had burgers with barbecue sauce on them that they really enjoyed. The person who had the steak salad said his filet mignon was excellently cooked and delicious. Our other friend who had a BLT said the bread was amazing and the whole sandwich was so good. Highly recommend this place.

Absolutely awful experience and will never be back.the wait staff was body shaming and pointing at our group saying that we should be ordering salad and vegetables. This is the most pathetic service ever and should be ashamed to say the least. If management hired people to make people feel unwelcome they found the right people.

Last night, we went out to dinner — and while I should’ve come home full and happy, I left feeling small in a way that had nothing to do with food.

I was being judged. For my body. For my size. For simply existing in it. I was also judged based on what I ordered. The waiter made it very, very clear.

I usually brush off stuff like this. But for some reason, this hit different. Maybe it was the way it was so casual — like shaming someone for being overweight is just normal behavior. It’s not.

I didn’t ask for your opinions. I didn’t ask for your looks. I came to eat, not be made to feel like I didn’t belong.

We are all more than our bodies. Kindness costs nothing. Let’s lead with that — for others and for ourselves.

Excellent place for a casual, quaint dining experience with an impressive wine selection and decent selection of cocktails and beers. Mushroom appetizer was a 10/10, turtle pie and apple crisp were stellar desserts, and entrees were good but we'll probably try the fish fry next time we go.

Perfect date spot!

We have been going to the stone house about 2-3 times a year for 20 years. Last weekend will be the last time. The past 3 times the food has been completely disappointing and nothing like the fine dining experience it used to be - certainly for the cost. The prime rib was obviously from a bag and tough. The fish was cold. The apps were the only saving grace. The lamb was not cooked medium well as requested, but rare. The service was lacking with a waitress who was maybe 19 and did not communicate at all, was neither unfriendly or friendly. UW graduation night at 6:30 and they were not even busy… which says a lot. Used to be lines waiting. My simple order of a salad for dinner did not arrive until the rest of my table of 6 were almost done eating. A 20% tip was automatically added to the bill and completely undeserved. We will never dine in the stone house again, however try the stable again next time. 3 strikes. You are out. Very expensive for poor food and service.

We came to Quivey's Grove for my birthday dinner. We had heard good things and were looking forward to it. The service was solid, and it is a lovely location. Unfortunately, all courses of food that we received lacked flavor and had a similar texture of crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Given the price point and reviews, we were surprised. Perhaps it was an off night, but we skipped out before dessert because we were concerned about continuing to invest in a meal that was bland and not satiating. It is possible that this is not a typical meal at Quivey's Grove, but we did not enjoy it.

If you love good fish please come here on a Friday night. Their menu pricing is just right and portion size perfect and not to mention. #12 on our Old Fashioned 2025 tour. Stopped in for a drink and a snack. The food was outstanding. Had sliders and chicken strips with hot honey. Mouth watering for sure. I'd make the long drive back just for the food. We were at the stable part of the property (which is beautiful). They have a restaurant also that we looked at the menu and want to go back to try. I want to go back also to see how pretty everything is in Spring and Summer.

Me and my family went to this restaurant today and my brother and I both ordered from the kids menu and I ordered the Mac n Cheese hoping it would be creamy and good but when it came to the table I was severely disappointed as what looked like Kraft Mac n Cheese from the store and it also tasted that way, not creamy like advertised. Also I got a kiddy cocktail (Sherly temple) and was disappointed again because it tasted like just sparkling water and grenadine and I was used to a lemon lime soda as the base instead of the water so it tasted watered down and bland. Now disappointed with my meal I asked to try my mom's hunter schnitzel and it was pretty good. I recommend that if you come on Tuesday. In addition my brother came here before and got the kids burger and he was not fond of that. I think this place is good if you don't get any food from the kids menu and don't get the kiddy cocktail.

First time back here in quite a while. Was seated in a room with many other tables and service was affected. The room was chilly although they did have the heat on it would appear. They didn’t turn the heat on early enough because we were cold. There’s a musty smell permeating the entire old home/restaurant possibly coming from the wine cellar which had standing water in it. I ordered a dish with mashed potatoes, and the potatoes were not mashed at all. It was disappointing. Service was really not great. there were many other rooms that we could’ve been sat in instead crowded all into one room with one waitress. Bill was $90 for two entrées, one a fish fry and an appetizer and two drinks a little bit pricey for what we received.

The rustic atmosphere is great! It’s a first come first serve so get there early on busy nights. Their fish fry is so so good, I just had to go for my birthday during Lent. Turtle pie is also amazing, but the real showstopper is their classic fried cod fish fry. Smashed potatoes are my fav, and their cheesy garlic are good too. My colleague found this restaurant via Google during our 3 day visit here. The reviews looked great, and the menu looked very appetizing, with not too many choices. (Isn't that a nice change to some places!)

We were seated promptly as we had reservations, and our waitress was attentive in answering questions we had about the menu and wine. Service was perfect, with just the right amount of attention, she was awesome.

The appetizer sampler was perfect to start. A nice way to begin our meal. Perfect for 2, it really set the tone of home cooking, at a very high standard.

I chose the Lamb for my main dish, which was spectacular. Perfectly cooked medium rare with an accompanying medley of roasted root veggies served with red potatoes with a delicious butter/cream/rosemary sauce from the pan juices. Oh my.

Too full and satisfied to even look at the dessert menu, but one thing for sure, I'll come back here again for any of the other dishes, and maybe save some room for dessert next time. Highly recommended.

I’ve been coming here for Friday fish fry for 6 years, recommending to friends as the best fish fry in town, and always bringing my family every time they visit. The fried cod and pretzel crusted perch are both delicious, and the parmesan potato is always a winner.

One of my favorite things about eating at the stone house is the warm fruit muffins. On our recent visit, though, my family was very disappointed to find that we would only be getting one muffin each. If we had known ahead of time, we would have savored the muffins much more slowly. Especially because the muffins seemed smaller than usual. Honestly, with a total tab of $77 for three people, we may have even chosen to go elsewhere if we had known that it would be too busy for a second round of muffins.

We enjoyed ourselves so much here! Our entrees were delightful. The Duck Wilcox had a delicious sauce, and the Lamb Nolan was the tenderest and most flavorful lamb I've ever had. That's just the tip of the experience, though - every little detail was perfect, down to the way the butter was fluffed. Pair that with a quiet and cozy farmhouse setting, and you have the sort of evening experience that will leave you relaxed and content. While the prices aren't cheap, I think they're a value for the overall quality provided. We look forward to coming back!

This review is solely for the Tiki dinner event that was held on 7/20.

My husband and I attended together, this was our first event to attend at Quivey's Grove. Overall we VERY much enjoyed our evening! But there were a couple of points to work on too.

Positive:
- The food was GREAT, they cooked an entire pig for the Tiki dinner which was very impressive! Also, the potato salad was the best I have ever had. Chef, I will beg on my knees for that recipe, please. It was amazing.
- The side contests were super fun!
- The provided live music was AMAZING and the musician even gave me one of his CDs after providing a tip, which was unexpected and appreciated. Very talented guy.
- We got THREE free drinks and they were all VERY good and strong! Three cheers for State Line Distillery, they were the star of the show tonight. The bartenders were super cheerful and fun to talk to, we will be sure to go visit their distillery soon. I won a bottle of their coffee liquor and it is DELICIOUS.

Negative:
- The beautiful live music sadly wrapped up at 7pm, even though the event was slated to go until 9pm. We would have stayed until the end just to listen to him play, and once he left the vibe of the event quickly diminished.
- A clear schedule of events would have been appreciated beforehand. IE: what time food would be served, the hula hoop contest, music duration, etc. We didn't really have any idea of what to expect or when we should arrive so we wouldn't miss anything. Some folks showed up at like 6:30 and all of the food was already gone. When an event is scheduled 4pm to 9pm that leaves a lot of guessing.
- I actually wish the tables had been placed slightly closer together for a more communal feeling. My husband and I felt kind of isolated with no one to talk to because we were all spread so far apart.

Overall our experience was good, and we look forward to attending future events here!

Excellent food and service in the Stone House for our group of 13 diners. Quivey’s Grove is still great after all these years.

Visited Stable Grill for lunch. To start with I was able to reserve a table the day before and we got seated right away on arrival. The ambience was awesome and very calm and comforting. The waitress was excellent. She recommended sauce with my entree and it was a perfect suggestion. I wish I remembered her name to mention here. The food was perfectly cooked and tasty. We ordered a desert which was breathtaking. Overall I had a wonderful experience and will highly recommend.

We had our wedding at Quivey's and I cannot say enough about their service and professionalism. The grounds and buildings are beautiful, the food is DELICIOUS, and the service is so so thoughtful. They came and found me and my husband and gave us food and drink personally, so we could take a private moment to eat before joining our cocktail hour. They answered every question we had, and are fabulous communicators. The dressing room for the bride and her party is so cute, and we had total privacy. The bathrooms were always available, and the tents are great!! Everything was just perfect. 10/10 would recommend.

Had dinner at the stone house at quiveys one word sums it up regret. I ordered the fish it tasted like old grease i sent it back and they brought the chicken it was even worse. Same old grease taste but also sour smell. I couldnt eat it. My husband tried it and spit it out. If your menu is mainly fried try changing the grease. Yuck

There are actually 2 restaurants in one. One, in the main house, is high end and you'll probably need a reservation. The other is more relaxed and in another building. The relaxed building has a lot of stairs but I'm sure they accommodate individuals with mobility issues.

pleasant service and accomodations, nice to have somewhere to have a meal where you are not being blasted by TVs and too many people crowded into the room. Food was fairly good, the fried perch was nice, and my partner enjoyed the vegetarian option, but i found my chicken to be quite dry and the sides to be sparse on the plate, so that was disappointing. overall though it was a pleasant enough experience

Perch dish was wonderful. Dessert pie was spot on. They had a little trouble with atmosphere temperature control. It was fun to walk through the underground tunnel to the bar. The bar did not have a stout on tap.

A group of eight of us made a reservation to dine at The Stonehouse Restaurant to celebrate a birthday dinner on a Saturday evening. The service was some of the best we've received anywhere! Very friendly. Recommendations that were made worked perfectly for our group, they even accommodated for the allergies a few people had. We ordered Duck Wilcox, which was crispy and delicious, plus a whole bowl of Lamb and Vegetable soup and that was absolutely to die for. The homemade raspberry muffins they provide to the table are nothing to scoff at either and their mocktails made with cherries are sweet, not sour. Both the building and it's surroundings are fun to explore as well. Give them a try if you're looking for food made with fresh ingredients at reasonable price for the exceptional quality and services you receive.

The atmosphere of this place was top-notch! The old fashion 's were great. Cheese curds were average but had excellent made in house Ranch! The beer battered fish had great flavor but was pretty doughy. The cheesy parmesan was excellent, and I could have eaten a plate of that! Definitely recommended. The cross plains chicken also has great light breading but was a bit tough. That does happen. You can't always control the proteins! Would definitely go back to try a few other items.

A Culinary Delight at The Stone House: A Review

Nestled within the picturesque surroundings of Quivey Grove, The Stone House offers an unforgettable dining experience that tantalizes the taste buds and soothes the soul. From the moment you step through its historic doors, you're transported to a realm where culinary excellence meets rustic charm.

My dining experience at The Stone House was nothing short of spectacular. Opting for the Veal Vilas and Beef Lathrop dishes, I was immediately impressed by the expertly crafted flavors and presentation. Each bite was a harmonious symphony of taste, showcasing the chef's dedication to using fresh, high-quality ingredients.

What truly elevated the evening was the impeccable service provided by Stephanie. Her attentiveness and professionalism ensured that our dining experience was flawless from start to finish. Her knowledge of the menu and genuine enthusiasm added an extra layer of warmth to the already inviting ambiance of The Stone House.

To top off the meal, we indulged in the Turtle Pie and Apple Crisp desserts, both of which were heavenly creations that left us longing for more. The perfect balance of sweetness and texture was a fitting conclusion to an extraordinary culinary journey.

In conclusion, The Stone House at Quivey Grove exceeds expectations on every front – from its delectable cuisine to its charming atmosphere and attentive service. Whether you're seeking a romantic dinner for two or a memorable dining experience with friends and family, The Stone House is sure to leave a lasting impression.

A historical setting with a great farm to table upscale menu. Wonderful place for a romantic meal or a casual get together. We ate at the Stone House. We had been there maybe 20 years ago and still a wonderful experience it's only gotten better over time. Be sure to check out the tunnel between the Stone House and the Barn. This place is a wonderful hidden gem.
