WISCONSIN'S OLDEST SUPPER CLUB
A lot’s happened since we opened our doors in 1848, and I guess you could say we’ve seen it all. From dirt road to plank road to railroad, Red Circle Inn has been serving up good food with good service for generations of people in Lake Country.
We’ve been a stomping ground for traders, trappers, settlers, working class, high class and everyone in between. There’s so much history in these walls, you can almost taste it.
It was former owner Captain Fred C. Pabst who gave Red Circle Inn its name and iconic red circle logo, a nod to his Pabst Brewing Company. He made the restaurant the place to see and be seen around the lakes, not just for a beer, but for high-quality food and warm hospitality.

We will never try this place again. We came in, at 4pm on a Sunday. The place was empty. Everything was fine until the perfectly pleasant woman at the desk turned us over to another woman who looked annoyed that we didn't have a reservation, then took us to a cramped table for two. When I asked if she could give us a nicer seat, gesturing at the absolutely empty room, she again became visibly annoyed and snipped that they had to save places for those who had made reservations. I'm sorry - we eat out A LOT - and any good restaurant owner knows that when faced with an empty dining room, a bird in the hand.... That combined with the attitude, we just said no thank you, and left. This place simply offers nothing to warrant such hubris.

Visited for the first time with my wife for dinner. We enjoyed the nostalgic atmosphere. The bar was busy but we had really nice drinks. I must mention the fried chicken...best I've ever had and I have had chicken many places. My wife is not even a 'chicken person' and she tried it and thought the same. Visit if you haven't!!

I was drawn to the Red Circle by their Oktoberfest menu, and as a lover of good food, I was thoroughly impressed. While I had heard mixed reviews about the restaurant in the past, especially after it changed ownership, recent reports of improvement convinced me to give it a try.
I ordered the mixed plates, pretzels, and apple strudel, and everything was fantastic. The highlight was the roasted whole pork that initially caught my eye. My only suggestion would be to enhance the sauerkraut; preparing it with some butter and sugar instead of serving it plain would elevate it to the level of the other dishes.
Overall, the meal was amazing, and I will definitely be back to explore the rest of the menu.

The food was not as good as expected for the steep cost it came with. The service was over-attentive, people kept asking to take away plates we were still eating from.
We go to a supper club every month, periodically returning to the best ones. Our overall experience was a disappointment and we will not be returning!

We have been to 12 supper clubs and this one ranked 2nd from the bottom. The food was “just ok”. My husband had the ribs and said the meat did fall off the bone and they were good. I had the short rib stroganoff and found it to be very bland. In addition, the service was a bit overwhelming. We had several different people constantly at the table which was a bit overwhelming. We are happy we tried it but will not return.

Their service is unmatched. The Sunday supper beef Wellington for 2 was superb! And don’t even get me started on the bread pudding - it’s a knockout.
My second visit to RCI, the (manager?) Kayla was exceptionally accommodating to me. Though she wasn’t our waiter, she was observant as a hawk and saw that I was not enjoying my Lamb Chop entree.
She came right over and insisted I order another dish, on the house. If she hadn’t noticed, I would not have been the person to say anything. I was embarrassed that I had ordered an expensive dish that would go to waste, but she was so reassuring that it was no trouble.
Not only was the lamb chop and the stroganoff removed from the bill, our waiter, Reece also offered to throw in a free dessert.
They were both wonderful!

The oldest supper club in WI was a special treat for a birthday dinner. Food was good overall, but not stellar. The crab cake was good, and so were the mushrooms. The mocktails were a hit. Fish was well prepared. Service was excellent and the ambiance was nice, except for the noisy biker bar across the street. I know they can't fix that, but would recommend an indoor table as a result.

The fillets and ribs were done perfectly. The flank steak was very very very rare. I miss the old traditional relish tray. The other thing I noticed on drinks was the nickel and dimming that goes on, extra charge for straight up & blue cheese olive in a martini… come on man !!! And no complementary birthday dessert ?

We went on Sunday specifically for Beef Wellington. 10 minutes after ordering we were told they were out of it. We noticed people around us getting it and they said they called and ordered ahead of time! We had made the reservation a month ahead of time and never told we needed to do that. The chicken and meatloaf were also not good ! Our server was excellent. We were a party of 7 and she was attentive. We will never go there again!

Very disappointing. Purposely made a reservation a month early for this restaurant because we wanted to try the beef Wellington. This was in celebration of two birthdays. Waitress took our order for two beef Wellingtons $150 per order. A little later someone else came and told us that they did not have beef Wellington and asked us to order something else. (Apparently the waitress did not even know that). She said we could have beef tenderloin for the same price as the beef Wellington. We ordered one beef tenderloin and two other dishes. During our meal numerous other people were served beef Wellington. We asked the waitress why other diners were able to get beef Wellington and she said that was because they pre ordered it. No where on the website or on the menu did it state that you needed to pre order the beef Wellington. I can not believe that there was no mention that you have to preorder a meal on the only night it’s served! It’s extremely telling when the best meal we were served was the buttered noodles my grandson had for free!! We will never return.

Came for their beef wellington, only night you can get it. Reservations for a month and no one said making the reservation nor on their menu that you should order ahead or they won't have it. Waitress didn't even know they where out until after we all ordered and started eating our salads yet everyone was served beef wellingtonafter seating after us! Thank you too, the waitress, for a good service but no thank you to the establishment for ruining 2 people's birthday meals because of incompetence! Will never come back.

I was looking for a steakhouse to take my best friend out to lunch. We stopped at the Red Circle Inn but they didn’t open until 4:30. Regardless, they rolled out the red carpet and invited us in, anyway, and provided us with a scrumptious steak! What an incredible experience! Kyle, the general manager, and Rich the exquisite chef, offered us a special lunch with all the fixings!!! WOW!! I will be a regular for sure! You don’t find this kind of hospitality anywhere anymore… except The Red Circle Inn in delafield! Thank you Rich and Kyle for going above and beyond!!!!

Always good food. Not sure how honorable this place is. Had a hundred dollar gift certificate from 2022. Had brain surgery in 2022. Finally tried to use my gift certificate in 2025. They did not honor it. Thought the law in Wisconsin was five years. Place changed hands but don’t you absorb that in the purchase? Feel a bit slighted because I had to earn this certificate.

I enjoyed the ambiance and my dinner. The tenderloin filet that I ordered was cooked exactly as I requested - medium well. A lot of restaurants struggle with getting my steaks prepared to my liking but this chef nailed it. My partner ordered the crispy perch and potato wedges and they were too salty for his taste. Our server was very friendly and answered our inquiries about the history of the building. The manager came around to our table to make sure we were pleased with our meals. I appreciated the attention to detail that was present at this restaurant and I am looking forward to coming back to dine

A Supper Club Experience Elevated to Perfection
Red Circle Inn is nothing short of extraordinary. Chef Richard Sweed and the Geronimo Hospitality Group have taken Wisconsin’s oldest supper club and elevated it to new, unforgettable heights.
We’ve had the pleasure of using the larger dining area for company outings—an elegant, welcoming space that’s both accommodating and visually stunning. We’ve also celebrated more intimate occasions, like birthdays and anniversaries, in the main dining room, and each visit has been memorable for all the right reasons.
The food is truly something to behold. The prime rib is second to none—tender, perfectly cooked, and rich with herbaceous flavor. My wife ordered the salmon, and she hasn’t stopped thinking about it since—it lives rent-free in her mind, and rightfully so.
The cocktails are crafted with the same care and detail as the dishes. The hand-muddled old fashioneds are a nostalgic nod to tradition, reminding me of the ones my grandparents used to enjoy. And the ice cream drinks? The perfect after-dinner indulgence, especially when paired with their curated dessert selection.
Speaking of dessert, don’t sleep on the red velvet cookie. It’s the perfect fond farewell—a sweet takeaway that leaves you reminiscing about the experience the next day (or savoring on the ride home).
The service team deserves its own standing ovation. Knowledgeable, attentive, and thoughtful in all the right ways—they understand that it’s the small details that turn a great meal into an unforgettable experience.
Red Circle Inn is not just a restaurant—it’s a destination. A celebration of tradition, quality, and genuine hospitality.

Red Circle Inn feels like a renovated supper club trying to balance modern touches with tradition. Some hits, some misses. Big bar area with comfy chairs and a few high tops—nice, but a sleigh foot rail would’ve sealed the deal. Atmosphere was fine, but not much buzz. Same goes for the food—fine, not memorable.
The most authentic supper club touch? Candles on each table. The rest leaned modern, like the electronic pepper grinder with a blue light and a whir. More efficient? Sure. But I miss the old-school crackle of a wooden grinder.
Service was friendly, no issues there. QR code payment at the table is a nice modern convenience. Easy to get a reservation and not packed at 7pm, which tells you something.

Old school supper club feel with meat and potatoes fair. Nothing exciting and unprofessional staff cooking who were hacks. I worked there, so I am speaking from first-hand knowledge. I'm very curious why they have such
good reviews. Probably because their clients are mostly senior citizens who enjoy food that's deep fried instead of pan-seared and soups are made from the leftover banquet food. Pass.

First time here. Our friends we meet had been here before. This is a chill supper club vibe with white linin tables. Excellent bar and bartenders and the Host was super friendly and came to find us when our reservation time came up. We like to sit and have a predrink at the bar before we eat. The 2 piece band in bar was great. We sat and order apps, the cheese curds where squares of joy.
The pork belly was a nice size with not to much fat. Our Waitress, Taylor was super attentive and was knowledgeable about the menu. We found out they changed the menu a few times a year. Their wine selection was small but a few very nice vintages that were fairly priced.
Our friend had the stuffed shrimp and the presentation was superb. Her husband had the ribeye and was a very nice size. My wife had the ribs and it was a very large helping.
I had the 7oz filet that was done perfect.
The only reason this isnt 5 stars across the board is my wifes garlic mashed potatoes and mine were served cool, not cold but cool enough where the butter we put on wouldn't melt. Overall we will be back!
Some cool potatoes on an otherwise perfect dinner should not stop you from trying the oldest Supper Club in Wisconsin! It won't stop us from coming back!

The serving size was extremely small. 7 oz fillet It came with mashed potatoes. No side salad or soup included. We got 2 flatbread crackers with cheese and a small bowl of olives. Most Wisconsin supper clubs serve warm bread. Red circle Inn does not serve bread. You have to ask for ice. Otherwise, the water is not very cold. We were seated by the bar on a high tabletop, which was fine until 2 couples came in, and it suddenly turned into an Applebee's . Loud and dressed with baseball caps. At least dress up a little and have respect for other people enjoying a relaxing dinner.

Dinner at Red Circle was more than just a meal—it was an immersive event! From start to finish, every detail was thoughtfully executed to create a truly special evening.
Our server, Kai, was outstanding. He walked us through the menu, highlighting favorites, classics, and new additions with a deep understanding of each dish. His timing was impeccable, ensuring our courses were perfectly paced so we could relax and catch up without feeling rushed. Beyond the food, Kai shared the rich history of the restaurant, making the experience even more engaging.
A huge thank you to the manager, Kyle, who went above and beyond to make this dinner extra special for my friend’s birthday. From a custom specialty drink and personalized menu to flowers on the table and a private tour of the historic building, every touch made us feel like VIPs.
The food was exceptional, the ambiance was warm and inviting, and the staff’s dedication to hospitality was unparalleled. Red Circle has set the bar incredibly high—this was an unforgettable night, and I can’t wait to return!

I "made a reservation online for 2/28/25" and when we got there, they did not have a reservation for 5 of us to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday. After further investigation, I screwed up ---the reservation I made was for 3/8, not 2/8. With a full house at 6pm on a Saturday for dinner, I thought now where are we going to go at this last minute. NO FEAR, the manager found us a place in a private room that was not being used, assigned us a waiter and we had an excellent meal as planned. Q, our waiter made it even better...he took care of us! We had my 60th Bday family dinner here last night for (they knew in advance and that we were bringing a toddler) My partner and I ordered the Beef Wellington for 2 as well as my daughter and her husband while the others all (7 total) had other Entrees, (note: the ribs are half a rack, not a full rack which is not displayed on the menu, my son was still hungry) Our private dining room was really cold. it was nice to place us in there because we had my grandson but the room couldn't have been more than 65 degrees. All was going well, other than being cold, when the entree's came out & my dinner & partners was not there. She told me a few more minutes, then said they had to fire another entree, it would be 20 minutes. After 20 minutes it was still not there. the table was done eating. the family sides were cold coming out & getting colder in our room, i told her such. I told her at that point it may not be worth even eating our meal anymore. She said they would comp us our meal and would package it up if we would like and bring out the desserts. (being with a toddler and my 87 y/o mother I thought that best, plus the offer of it being comped was the right offer as I understand sometimes things go wrong) She said twice our entree was being comped, the entire table heard it or I would of just cancelled the order entirely. Our bills come and she told me they paid for our drinks and took 25% off the bill. I said i thought you told me it was being comped. she said, oh no only 25% off ($37.50) and your drinks. (2 ice teas and 3 cocktails which I would of been happy to pay for) It just left a very bad taste in my mouth. My partner was hungry, we have to drive my mother back to the nursing facility in Waukesha and have "to go" Beef Wellington and for those whom know this entree, reheated is not going to be great. I then got frustrated and sad, at least I thought we could come back again and order it another time. I was very understanding and kind to our server up to this point. Now we have a $118 take out meal (not including tip as I know it is not her fault). By the time we got home it was after 9 pm and the take out is still in the fridge. You played this one wrong Red Circle Inn and the management who made this call.
NOTE: Kyle the GM called me and apologized for this snafu. He is using this as a teaching moment and the things that could of been done differently. He was kind, understanding and would like us to return on them for another try at the Beef Wellington or whatever we choose w the $150 gift card! I am so happy to get to return and try this again as we have had had impeccable service in the past and I was hoping this was just a one off. Thank you Red Circle Inn!

Used to be a regular here 2x a week when Norm owned it. Have tried it several times under new ownership and they’re not cutting it. Seldom any management visibly present, staff is poorly led and inadequately trained. Multiple issues with tepid food, inconsistent quality, patrons dining at the bar have to ask for place settings, water glasses go empty and on and on. Hiring young teenagers to staff the host/hostess station is a poor choice. Deep pockets aren’t enough when there’s a lack of core competence in standardization of processes, staff training, leadership and food quality. Geronimo Corporate needs to get engaged and fix this mess.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but something has changed with the quality of the food. We had a group of 4, 2 ordered ribeye and both were severely undercooked; not just rare....absolutely raw. (sent it back and it came back looking gray - and still undercooked). I ordered the walleye and it smelled bizarre and had next to no seasoning on it. The Brussel sprouts and mashed potato sides were the saving grace of the meal. Service was great, everyone was friendly but unfortunately for a $350 meal, that doesn't mean much.

Not impressed with $57 ribeye. No sear, it was under cooked, and it didn’t look like 18 ounces to me. The brussel sprout side was very flavorful. This place may be good at seasonings and sauces but not a destination for steaks.
Also, I specifically called to ask if they would be having live music and was told yes. That’s why I went. No live music.

First time coming and had great anticipation but an utter disappointment at all levels! From the inattentive bartender when we first walked in to being seated 25 minutes after our reservation. Server started the meal by telling us that they were out of both beef specials on the limited “Special New Year’s Eve” menu. That poor planning on the Chef and his team should have been a red flag on this ongoing disaster! I ordered a Duckhorn Cab by the glass which they were also out of….two for two and we are just getting started! The first course mushroom risotto was served in a small cast iron skillet and was barely warm. Clueless server never checked back while others cleared our dishes. Entrees came out 45 minutes after we finished our apps. My Pork Chop was great, but my wife’s Chicken was pink. Brought back to kitchen as clueless waitress had to be flagged down. She asked my wife if it was okay to be brought back to the kitchen and reheated? Obviously the microwave was broken as it was brought back out five minutes later on a new plate, but turned over and still pink. Saving grace could have been dessert, but the chocolate mousse dessert was pudding served at room temperature with a tasteless whipped crème! Latest reviews should have given us a heads up on this 2.5 hour debacle! Dropping the ball with both food and service on one of the busiest night’s of the year and spending $175 for this disaster was my mistake and we won’t be coming back or over recommending to anybody.

Broth was like water colored brown, meat and vegetables were over cooked with a soggy piece of pastry laid on top.

Wisconsins oldest restaurant! First time there ever. Friday night so it was busy but 15-20min to get two old fashioneds is kinda bad. Prime rib was very good. Salmon was decent. The sides were not good though. Not sure how you mess up mashed potatoes but that wasn't good at all. The relish tray had a whopping two crackers on it. Very very odd to not get soup or salad with an expensive dinner. Definitely one of the lower end supper clubs I've visited.

Nostalgia. Comfort. This was the beginning. Then, I ordered a Sidecar. Talk about nostalgia...been decades since that cocktail showed up on a menu. This one came in a whisper thin martini glass. It was delicious. Don't recall the last time I thought a drink was delicious. Then the dinner arrived. Beef Stroganoff with a side of red cabbage, sprinkled with goat cheese. People! Scrumptious!! Satisfying wide egg noodles, juicy pot roast, cooked to perfection. (Can't believe I'm raving over such a common dish, but it was that good.) OH, then notice the music floating by...was that live? The horn player in the lobby area, sitting at an angle, jazzy in attire, hat tilted, notes floating. Magical. Just had to share. Go there...

We recently dined at the Red Circle Inn and had an exceptional experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, a perfect blend of rustic charm and elegance.
The food was absolutely outstanding. We started with the Beef Stroganoff, which was incredibly rich and flavorful, paired with a side of red cabbage that added a delicious tangy balance. The beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, and came with fried Brussels sprouts with bacon—a delightful crispy, savory combination that elevated the entire dish.
To drink, we enjoyed a classic Sidecar that was perfectly balanced and refreshing. For dessert, we indulged in the Strawberries and Cream crisps, which were light, sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal. We also had the Golden Cadillac, a creamy and decadent treat that felt like a luxurious finish to an already perfect dining experience.
A special mention to Taylor, our server, who was attentive, knowledgeable, and ensured that every part of our meal was seamless. Her friendly demeanor and attention to detail truly enhanced the overall experience.
Highly recommend Red Circle Inn for anyone looking for exceptional food, great service, and a memorable dining experience!

This place did not disappoint! Staff was amazing! They made me feel like I was their only customer.
The food was great. It was Sunday supper night, and there was sooo much food, but it was all amazing!
Brandy old fashioned was on point.
I do not have 1 bad thing to say about this place. Everything was exactly as it should be.

TL;DR: Try this place out. I'm mad I did not try it sooner.
Apps: Root Beer Braised Bacon was not bacon - it was 1" think pork belly! So good. Cheese Curds also tasty.
Meal: Steaks cooked properly, good seasoning. Fat fried french fries were awesome. Hashbrowns OK (taste better than they look). Brussel sprouts had generous portions of bacon.
Decent wine list, cocktails were good, whiskey selection respectable but could use some more high-end options.
We had a 7:15 reservation on a Tuesday. It was a bit loud in the beginning, but the place had cleared out by the time we finished.
Our server was Maelee who was prompt, efficient, and helpful.

Really cool place. Service was fabulous. My Angus filet was very salty, but cooked perfectly. My wife's perch was tasteless and the Jo Jo wedge potatoes tasted greasy. They comped her fish as she did not eat it. Apparently, this is a new menu so I will probably give them another chance in a few months and update this post.

For our anniversary dinner, we chose The Red Circle Inn. Laura, at the bar, mixed up some great-tasting Old Fashioneds. We were shown to our table, orders were given. Bread, relish tray, and very hot, delicious French Onion soup were served. Then we waited. And waited. At least 30 minutes. Until our warm, not hot, beef stroganoff and filet were served. We informed the hostess. She offered a complimentary beverage ("No thanks. We already had two.")
The meals tasted good. We finished. Dessert was offered. And a complimentary Anniversary glass of "champagne". At the end of the meal? Nope. That should have been offered at the beginning. Or maybe a complimentary dessert instead?
Our happy beginning at the bar faded in the dining room.

Just had brunch here celebrating Mother’s Day. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm and welcoming. Our waiter was very attentive and the manager Kyle stopped by to make sure our experience was excellent. The brunch menu was superb and had a variety of different food options. The waffles and omelet station were excellent! They also had a full bar with a specialty drink menu too. Brunch was family friendly with a small buffet of various options for kids as well. Highly recommend The Red Circle Inn for the staff, food and overall dining experience!

Kayla our server was AMAZING and very attentive. I had blacken grouper, which I asked to be spiced up a little, which it was. My friend had scallops, good also, we shared a side of asparagus. My complaint which I spoke to the kitchen manager about, everything had a white cream sauce on it, which to me smothered the and camouflaged the presentation. Lemon creme brulee was delicious with coffee to top off our meal.
Brandon our bartender was great, he had a vast knowledge of the wines, the ones he recommended were excellent.
We will return for another evening of dining, I have to say, the food is getting better each time.

Stopped with friends to repay them for keeping us warm during the great blizzard of '24 when the power went out. I've passed the Red Circle many times, but never stopped to learn anything about it. Turns out it's a pretty darn good restaurant.
Service was excellent. We were greeted in the 'foyer' and had our coats checked, and we were seated immediately. Drinks arrived quickly, and our glasses were always full. As a hydro-homie in training, that's important.
Food was delicious. The escargot in puff pastry is on the short list of 'best things I've ever had'. The steak entrées were enjoyed by all. Portions were small, which necessitated dessert.
This was a wonderful stop for an upscale dinner. The only minor critiques I could find were ambiance and portion sizes. The interior was clean but a tad bland. It was nice, but not $100/person nice. Portion sizes were also mildly disappointing. Still a 5-star stop, but when comparing to other local top shelf dining establishments, these were areas that maybe only rated 80%.

My wife and I were there at 5PM on Saturday night December 30, 2023. We had reservations and were seated immediately in the dining room to the right of the check in area. The table to start with was very small which was hard to put your food on it. We both ordered a steak, one was a 6 oz. filet and the other was a bone in steak, 1 salad, 1 soup. The dish came with mashed potatoes for each and we ordered the Brussels sprouts for a vegetable. The steaks were dry, no salt or pepper shakers on the table either. We each had a soda for our drink. This meal was not worth the price of $147.00 without a tip. The service was average at best. We will not go back to this establishment. We were disappointed for this night out.

I want to thank the staff at Red Circle Inn for the extraordinary dinner and evening celebrating our anniversary. We have not been to the Red Circle Inn for a while (it’s under new ownership and was closed for renovations) but we were excited to see what changes were made. We were very excited that they have captured the charm of the original Inn. Our meal was delicious (I had the scallops, and my wife had the pheasant) and the service was delightful. Our server was Nicki (sp?) and she was excellent and very pleasant to talk to. We also met both the assistant manager and the owner/manager, and they were very friendly and pleasant. We also enjoyed sitting at the bar enjoying our cocktail and all the Christmas decorations. I love experiencing a restaurant where you feel like part of the family.

We hadn't been to Red Circle since the change in ownership answered surprised how easy it was to get a last minute reservation. Then we arrived and it became very clear very fast why there were many empty seats. We were placed at a TINY 2 top when there were many larger more comfortable tables open all night. The table was so small that when dinner finally arrived it was a rubics cube trying to fit everything on the table and still be able to eat.
So first a tiny uncomfortable table and then a 20 minute wait to get water and cocktails and an order taken. And the place was NOT busy. We both ordered the prime rib special and it arrived raw and almost inedible. We could.have sent it back but our ever absent waiter didn't check on us for quite some time. Our side of creamed spinach tasted bitter. At least the mashed potatoes were edible. All in all a very expensive and disappointing evening. We will eat our upscale meals elsewhere where the food and service is at the level it should be.

First time visiting and this will be our last time and only time visiting.
The bartender at the top of the stairs was very rude and unprofessional. We were told that our seminar was upstairs. There were no signs that the seminar was further back on the second floor and we assumed that the group of people at the top of the stairs were there for the seminar.
The bartenders remarks towards us were rude and sarcastic - this person needs to be more polite with first time visitors and taught how to speak more professionally.
First impressions are lasting and we do not recommend or endorse the Red Circle Inn.

Been going to the RCI since the 1980s. This was the best experience yet. Staff was super friendly, professional and efficient (thanks Amanda). Atmosphere was pleasant. And the food was amazingly well prepared and presented.
Five of us. Ordered tenderloin, New York Strip, Scallops, and the Swordfish special. Ordered additional sides of the Jojo potatoes, Wisco Meatballs, and the Roasted Brussel Sprouts. All of it was hot, seasoned perfectly, and plated with care. Bonus points for the incredible Swordfish and Jojos.
Couple suggestions, I thought the Brussel sprouts could have roasted a little longer, and the meatballs could have been firmer.
We saved room for desserts. Creme brûlée, apple tart and chocolate grasshopper torte. All very fresh and good.
Keep up the great job!

This food is AMAZING. The first bite just about melted in my mouth (I had the fish special for the night). My partner’s steak was cooked perfectly and the JoJo potatoes were a delectable treat.
Asparagus side was well-balanced in flavor.
Cocktails were good, as well.
Service was slow, BUT with how staffing is, that can happen. Our waitress was kind and helpful and brought samples of wine so we could decide what to get. Just had long periods of wait with cocktails and slow service. As a bartender and veteran of the industry, I get how it happens. Just an honest assessment.
The biggest issue we had was the atmosphere and table/chairs. The entire dining experience was uncomfortable. Table was too small, chairs felt like posture chairs, and I awkwardly had nowhere to set my clutch. Does not change the quality of food, but did distract from the experience.
Overall we would definitely go back because of the food, but small improvements to the overall experience could easily make this a 5/5.

Buyer beware - If you are planning to dine at the RCI, you may consider bringing an overnight bag - perhaps even some snacks while you wait for the experience to unfold…
After being seated:
- 30 minutes for cocktail and order entry
- drinks not served simultaneously. >10 minute gaps amongst group
- more than 60 minutes before food arrives
- Essential cutlery not present with meals
- Order inaccuracies/portion inconsistency
- food and drink quality good, but below industry standard for price point
Waitstaff not to blame. Management must address standards of excellence.

We came here for dinner after a long day of helping our family moving in the area there realtor Mary who has eaten here many times since she was a child wanted to give everyone a good meal for the hard work and I will have to say it was with a couple of caveats. We got seated quickly as it was Tuesday after the holiday weekend and they were not real busy our server was training a new server and they took our drink orders and let us look at the menus while our drinks were made. When they returned with our drinks they took our orders. There were 5 of us and we ordered 1 pan seared walleye 2 Untraditional Beef Stroganoffs and 2 8 oz tenderloins I had my tenderloin with the Buttered Mashers the other was ordered with the Beef Fat Hash Browns I also ordered a cup of French Onion Soup. They returned with 3 what I would call relish trays and set them down and left here is my first caveat and maybe it was on us for not asking but they didn't say what any of the 3 little plates were now one was obviously slices of bread the other 2 were not so obvious one had something that looked liked miniature cheddar Bay biscuits the other was some little tiny strips of veggies with 2 little pats of some kind of dip or spread on either end of the plate no butter was brought for the bread. Here is my 2nd caveat as we waited for our entrees we only saw our servers once that was when my soup was brought out and we hadn't finished our first drinks yet we didn't see them again until our entrees arrived and I didn't time it mind you but it was about 20 minutes. The only way we got our drinks refreshed was because the manager stopped by to ask how things were which is when our host asked him about our entrees and new drinks. That was when our drinks got renewed and they cleared the away the relish plates and my soup cup. As for my French Onion Soup and our entrees my soup was a bit sweeter than I'm used to in French Onion but otherwise was spot on with good Onion flavor and good cheese on top. Everyone said that there entrees were excellent and I agree with that I only have one complaint with mine and that is portion size of the buttered mashers there was barely a teaspoon full I would have liked to have seen there be at least as much as the 2 hash browns that came with the other tenderloin. To sum up what I know is a long review the food and drinks were excellent the service was superb with that one delay in getting second drinks and I will say that the delay may have been so that everything could be done and brought out at the same time but it was a wait for the place not being busy. Would I recommend Red Circle Inn yes I would it is fine dining yes it is a bit pricey but that is generally what fine dining costs.

Our party of four went on a Wednesday night to celebrate a birthday. We were greeted warmly as we entered. The bartender made us his excellent Old Fashioned. Our server came to the bar to help us transition to the dining room for our meal. The wedge salad was imaginative and full of flavor. We all enjoyed our entrees-the Beef stroganoff was an outstanding and flavorful rendition of this dish-very tender. My husband had a steak which was perfectly prepared and presented. Another of our party enjoyed the pan seared wall-eye. This was an unpretentious and warm experience. Like going to an aunties house that really knows how to cook. Highly recommend .

We came here for a birthday dinner since I love a classic Wisconsin supper club. We ordered the appetizer board for two, which had several Wisconsin favorites with new twists. Fried deviled egg was delicious. The bread tray was a bit odd, and we almost felt like we shouldn't ask for a second piece. My husband and I also split the salad special, which was a nice arugula, prosciutto, and fresh mozzarella salad with lemon olive oil. Around the time we got our salad, the kitchen got busier, and our server apologized for the lag. We weren't in a hurry, so it wasn't an issue. When the entrées arrived, we noticed a good amount black on the steak. We love a good char, but this was more burnt, and the steak was rare instead of medium, so that was unfortunate.
When it comes to the atmosphere, we love the concept of smaller rooms as well as the antiques adorning the walls. The lighting didn't contribute to the ambiance, and the chairs were very uncomfortable.

Disappointing. No walleye so they substituted a whitefish, a bland fish that needs seasoning, which this did not have. Browned butter wasn't enough. It was on a bed of wilted spinach which was tasty but mixed in with other dreck that was terrible. Beef stroganoff was mediocre. Caesar salad was just ok. French onion soup was decent. Too many servers (I know, shocker) but they took things from the table so quickly, we barely finished chewing a last bite and the plate was gone. It was if they were trying to quickly turn the table so they could get another seating in. Not enjoyable. Won't be back.

I have recently eaten twice at the Red Circle Inn. I wanted a bit of time to pass to decide whether to post a review or not. I decided to post this in order to allow other diners the chance to make their own decision and be aware of what has happened to me twice.
Most recently I had the pork chop which is unusual for me. It was very good, however when I received the bill I noticed that I had been overcharged for dinner.
I mentioned this to the staff on the way out the door after looking at the menu again.
After apologies and excuses I asked how much I should have been charged for a glass of scotch during a previous dinner there a few weeks before ($30 for a glass of scotch that I watched the bartender pour)-(I had my suspicions at the time, but i didn't bring it up). The manager went to check and it turns out I'd been over charged $10 on the previous bill. She was kind enough to make a $10 adjustment for my previous bill and took the $4 dollars off this bill. I refused her offer to comp my meal as I wasn't looking for a freebie and the meal had been good.
I cant say if being overcharged was intentional or not. I can say that the manager was very sincere in her apology but blamed it on their point of sale system.
I'd say eat there if you want, but closely check what you're being billed on your check against the menu prices.
If they did it twice to me within a few weeks they are could be overcharging other patrons as well, or it could've just been an unfortunate series of coincidences ...
I haven't decided yet if I'll be back or not.

I have been coming to the Red Circle for almost 40 yeaers. From the family that owned Provimi Veal, to Norm and his wife to now, the ownership backed by the iconic Diane Hendricks, who is known for doing things right whenever she is involved. Every version that I have been exposed to was and continues to be excellent. The latest incarnation is still working to gets it's footing, but with no lack of quality.
My wife and I dined at the bar this eve and had several items off of the app menu, as we wanted to try several things.
First off, the Duck confit croquette appetizer. It was delicious and like nothing we have ever had as an app. I make Duck confit and this was a nice twist, a served over a celery root buttered mashers that were really great.
We then opted for a full order of the wedge salad and the French onion soup to share. The wedge was great with lots of blue cheese and the French onion soup was nicely rich and complex. No run of the mill French onion soup here.
We then finished with the Meatballs from the app menu. 5 pan fried meatballs with a rich brown grape sauce, again over those delicious mashers.
Drinks were reasonably priced, the bartenders were conversational and fun.
I understand that the menu will be evolving, so here are a few suggestions.
The bread service was a single small piece of either focasia or an herbed cracker served with what was seemingly, 4-5 tablespoons of butter in a container. More than one piece of bread should be offered. I know that in many restaurants, lots of great bread gets thrown away, but the server should simply ask how many pieces a patron would care for. This would also save on the wasted butter that likely goes down the drain. BTW, there was no charge for the bread. Had we known that we would have asked for a couple more pieces of the focasia.
Also, the Red Circle has a very long history of wonderful Veal dishes. I would recommend a weekly Veal dish that could be advertised and rotated. I was surprised that there was no Veal on the menu.
OK the big one. NO TOFFEE!!! This must be brought back. It was the perfect way to finish a meal and also a real draw around the holidays for people wanting to buy for parties etc. Mind you this is a very selfish request, but come on Diane, this is a must.
The new decor is brighter and welcoming. We will most certainly go back and try other items on the main menu as it expands.

I had not been to The Red Circle Inn for a number of years. This was a special occasion, being my wife's 60th birthday. My steak, crafted French Onion Soup and Lemon Creme Brulee compared favorably with the best. Their wine list is well represented with some of my favorite champagne labels, as well as, great wines from all over. Our server, Amanda, was especially fun. She was very familiar with all menu selections, a real pro. My wife was thrilled with her birthday dinner. The Red Circle Inn was a great way to cap off her special day.

I wanted to give a higher rating because this is just such a classic old time place with great potential. Maybe they need some time to get up to speed, as they recently reopened under new ownership. Our steaks were prepared rare not medium-rare but still had a great taste. We ordered the onion ring ($12) appetizer and got 7 rings. We asked about the bread because they had bread knives. After the second time the bread server came around after our steaks came out and apologized for the delay because the server didn’t put in a bread order? My wife ordered a Bloody Mary and it was delivered with no olives (never heard of that). But, the finishing touch was a Pink Squirrel ($13) that came out in a tiny wine glass and had the consistency of chocolate milk. Again, maybe the bartender was new or never made a Pink Squirrel but it as a huge disappointment.

We had high hopes that with some new life, new management (Geronimo Group), and some updates, that Red Circle Inn could become a place in our "rotation" in Lake Country. We visited the bar area for some appetizers and drinks this past week and if it's indication of what a full dinner service would be, the search continues. The menu is full of things that at first glance are Wisconsin favorites, but upon further review, the call has been reversed as you notice the really just strange twists that wander down a dark, forced, and not tasty path.
Examples include summer sausage in a wedge salad looks good on paper (not really), but doesn't work. How about not trying to be too clever and do Nueske's thick cut bacon instead, to pay tribute to a local place and stick closer to a classic original. With this, it felt like I had a salad from an Italian pizza place where they threw salami, cheese, and banana peppers into my salad. Not a supper club look by any stretch.
The sampler platter had two pieces of barely toasted rye with what tasted likely a curiously sweet Merkt's cheese spread. It was marketed as beer cheese, but not even close and one of the cheese spreads came off in a large glob, meaning it had sat in a fridge for a while. The deep fried olives had us asking, "where's the olive" as it was just breading. "Hey, let's deep fry deviled eggs" the chef said to be clever. Well, it didn't work and there was no flavor, no seasoning, and nothing special. The summer sausage fetish returned again, this time with two small pieces of grilled summer sausage. Not great. The whitefish mousse was interesting and perhaps the "highlight" of the plate and something unique that didn't tread too far into no-man's land. The baby Vlassic dill pickles could have been something local and nice, but tasted like they were straight from the Sysco jar.
Looking over the menu, it's obvious that the chef was given freedom to make a supper club their own. But, rather than stay to some classics with subtle twists, they went way off the rails with the menu. Skate Schnitzel anyone? Yes, it's a "Reimagined Classic", but not sure what imagination we are working with here.
Also, while we were one of two couples at the bar, service was slow and why, oh why, do we need full place settings with placemats, four forks, two knives, three plates, and everything in between while sitting AT THE BAR. That is why we chose to eat at the bar! The bar is meant to be casual, approachable, and comfortable, not needing the queen's china place settings.
Make I.D. at the Delafield Hotel your test lab for reimagining things while sticking to the classics here with quality ingredients and you will have a winner. Continue down this path and while Red Circle Inn may be the oldest restaurant in Wisconsin, it may be the loneliest one as well as after the first visit, many diners may just say "Geronimo" as they leap outside, never to return again.

The Red Circle is quaint, comfortable, romantic, and special. The atmosphere is quiet, subtle, and pretty. The restaurant has several rooms, two of which are small and cozy. The decor of the rooms is understated, retaining much of the early 20th century history of the original. We got a chance to check out some large party rooms upstairs, and they are unique and grand. The food is carefully prepared and elegantly presented. It also tasted very good.

Terrible Mother's Day Brunch.
Too expensive ( $58 plus pricy 4oz mimosas) for COLD food, dirty dishes (self-serve coffee station stocked with unwashed cups), Costco style desserts, no carving/omelet/crepes station, very limited and inexpensive offerings, dried out egg pies being labeled quiche, nothing special for Mom's--glass of cheap Champagne or Mimosa. BEST was the attentive wait staff, the cold smoked salmon and caprese salad. Sorry for the harsh review, but I know what GOOD food tastes like and I expected better from these new owners.
Also--would have liked to know ahead of time where to park so my elderly mom with leg issues didn't have to scale the flight of stairs!

Really small space waitresses constantly walking by back and forth kinda of ridiculous. Need to open the upstairs space things out a bit more.

Our server Deb was excellent. The newly remodeled dining room and bar look great. The food, cocktails and wine were fantastic. I hope they bring the duck back on the menu. I highly recommend the restaurant.

A magical evening with perfectly prepared entrees & wonderful service continues with the new management. Starters include classic Wisconsin options like meatballs, cheese platter and cannibal sandwiches. The new menu includes 4 time honored classics and steaks & potato entrees. No Friday fish fry options, but the Walleye classic meal is a delicious unique paring that was truly enjoyed. Soups, Salads, Enhancements and accompaniments available at an additional cost. There’s an extensive rotating wine list and when in doubt choose from the Sommelier’s picks. They knock it out of the park with their Lemon Cream Brûlée. The event space on the second floor is still available too. Another chapter has been written in the oldest restaurant in Wisconsin’s book that continues to be a special occasion treasure to enjoy!

I always wanted to have my wedding here. Unfortunately I started looking for a wedding venue when Geranimo took over. Called multiple times in September and still no one has called me back. It’s almost May.

I was excited to visit and check out the new Red Circle Inn. We have been going there for many years and always enjoyed it. We decided to order the cheese platter and a few drinks. The cheese platter was served on a dinner plate with three different cheeses the size of a quarter, a dish of jelly, and a few apple slices for $22.00 dollars, would not recommend the cheese platter!

No real change with new owners. I had great food and service but was charged $4 for each ginger ale I ordered. Only place I’ve ever been that charges for soda refills without telling when ordering.

Service was ok, slow at best. I feel it was very pricey for what we got. Beef stroganoff, only 4 pieces of meat. Tenderloin was just ok. Probably won't return.

Edit: The new menu will put them out of business. Almost all of it can be found anywhere.
This is one of those places that makes a lot of food a person won't prepare at home, and they do it all very well, with detail. Probably should go here more frequently.
Service was great.
