My wife and I decided to enjoy our 49th anniversary dinner at Remington's River Inn and couldn't have hoped for a better celebration experience. Keegan, our server, was very helpful, friendly and expert at keeping us attended with care. We found the Baked French Onion Soup and the Chicken Pot Pie Soup outstanding and the Filet Mignon and Chicken Marsala very delicious to perfection. We were well satisfied with everything including the ambiance.

Pub/bar seating up front. Long hall to the nice dining room, then a very nice outdoor patio down 5 stairs, overlooking the river, with a fire pit. They do have a credit card fee unfortunately. Al the servers are very nice. Soups, pizzas daily specials have all been very good. Crab cakes were average and slightly overdone. The cod fish fry was average. We come here mostly for soup, pizzas daily specials and a gluten free pizza with friends, at least once a month. Portions are generous, usually something to take home, esp. the pizzas.

My drink was watered down, barely any alcohol and did not taste like a Paloma (middle drink). I was expecting a HUGE Bavarian Inn type pretzel for $10 but got something way smaller than what it appears in the picture. The ambiance inside Remington's was nice and staff was friendly.

Had an overall great experience coming here for our anniversary. Came on a Monday evening, and there was almost nobody there and it was very pleasant not being overwhelmed with tons of background noise. Atmosphere inside was amazing, a truly pleasant cozy interior for sure. If you're lucky, the table next to the window looking out at the Milwaukee River is beautiful. Our server was perfect. Timelines in receiving drinks and food was average. My girlfriends Moscow Mule was very good. Our pretzel appetizer was toasted, buttered, and salted perfectly. The french onion soup was very tasty and also not scolding hot which I appreciated. My girlfriend enjoyed her chicken sandwich, french fries, and coleslaw. I'll admit my $40 8oz Grilled Fillet Mignon meal was just okay, and personally I would never order it again. There are better steaks out there. The overall portion wasn't a lot. The steak, while cooked nicely, wasn't the most flavorful by itself. The included small scoop of garlic mashed potatoes and optional sautéed mushroom & cooked vegetable add-ons for an extra $5 did complement the steak nicely though. If you do order it, I might recommend the sautéed onions add-on instead for more flavor. Overall, I still give 5/5.

My wife and I visited Remington's River Inn while staying in Mequon. Our server, Jenna, was very polite, professional and stopped by as often as she could to make sure we had everything we needed. We were very pleased with the quality of the food and drinks. We started with the Mozzarella Logs and they were delicious. I ordered the Reuben Sandwich with fries and a cup of French onion soup (not included with the reuben but well worth it!!!), my wife ordered the mac & cheese. We will definitely be returning again!

This place gets an “F” I went on Saturday it’s 5:15 rush hour …walked in and said to myself thank god a bar seat open…I was happy…until I found out the bar seats open 3 of them were taken by people playing the gambling machines…. The owner needs to make a decision either you are a restaurant or a gambling casino …now I was pissed…walked out I use to go here 4-5 times a month….not any more…..I told the bar tender they lost my business…some people will agree with this some will not but I will let 22 people I am having a meeting with this coming week to stay away…. This place is not great for a nice dinner…

My friend and I have been coming here for their fish fry for years. This last visit it changed-no beer battered fries, which were my favorite with it. New fries just plain, my friend didn't even eat any of hers. Fish still ok. A very tiny cup now of cole slaw. I wonder why when someplace has a good fish fry that they decide to change it up?. Sad, because now we won't be back. I suggest they go back to the original fish fry the way it was. Then its 5 stars, esp on the deck over the river, service is always good, and love the log and stone inside.

Just had dinner, got the mac and cheese with cajun chicken, chicken had mild cajun flavor but not very good, mac and cheese was basic but good. The beer selection was great, would try that again. Kitchen was busy so good took awhile but the waitress was still very attentive despite. I had a fantastic experience here! I visited on Saturday, and even though it was after lunch, the server gave my husband and me excellent, attentive service. We kicked things off with Bloody Marys, which surpassed our expectations. For appetizers, we tried the mozzarella logs—delicious—and the onion soup, which was among the best I've ever had. For lunch, the Cobb salad was great, though the amount of dressing provided could have been more generous for the large portion. The burger, however, was spot-on. Overall, it was a great experience, and we’ll definitely be back soon!

This is a beautiful restaurant inside and out. It was a nice day, so our party sat outside. There were eight of us. We ordered our drinks and food. Our drinks were brought out in a timely manner. About 10 minutes later, a second waitress came to take our order again. We told her that we already ordered. We waited quite awhile and we still didn't have our food, so we asked about it. We were told only half of our food was ready and they were waiting on the rest. Instead of bringing out what was ready, they let that food sit. Ten or fifteen minutes later they started to bring some of the food out. One of us ordered Chicken Marsala, it was only lukewarm. He kept it. I ordered Ground Beef Nachos that upon inspection looked like they sat for awhile and were no longer warm. The cheese was hard and I couldn't pull them apart. I asked for a manager who said he'd personally remake it. Meanwhile someone needed ketchup. She had to ask for it numerous times, and was almost done eating by the time she got it. Another one of us ordered salmon that came with mashed potatoes. The potatoes were cold. Those had to be remade. By the time she got her potatoes, I still hadn't gotten my nachos. My friend who also ordered nachos got hers, they weren't much better than mine, but the wait for food was so long, she kept them. Her husband had to ask three times for a soda refill, and when my nachos were delivered he received three sodas, by three different waitresses. I'm not sure what the issue was. They seemed to have plenty of wait staff. But no one seemed to know where they should be. The food was very good, and my nachos were great once they were fresh. The manager was apologetic, but we weren't offered a discount or any type of coupon. He just told us he was in over his head. I think a small discount on the bill, or a coupon for an appetizer next time would have softened the blow of the bad service we got. The restaurant and ambiance there is incredible. I would like to try it again sometime, but with the way prices are these days, I don't know if we'll take the chance.

We were recommended by a friend to go there. We sat outside on the river which was great. But the server was new, didn’t know a lot, never brought utensils or napkins. Didn’t know what kind of wine so brought a house wine……
The perch was market price…..never heard of that and it was $27.00!! It wasn’t very good either, breading was thick. Then they added a beverage tax and a credit card tax that they didn’t know if we were paying cash or credit. The manager came out and explained but still didn’t make sense. They need to take care of business there. I am saddened
And I wished she would have addressed the beverage tax on her reply, but she didn’t!

As we enjoy trying new places for our Friday Fish Fry, we found this place and thought it worthy of a go. Upon being promptly seated at a un clean riverside deck table, a young lady brought us glasses of water. About 20 minutes later, the people at the table next to us told their server that we hadn't been asked if we wanted drinks. A few minutes later a server (Keegan) arrived and took our drink order. At least 5 minutes till my beer of choice arrived (they have a nice selection). The beer was tasty! My friends tea arrived without sugar, we wait. Finally, about 50 minutes since our arrival, our order was taken. Again, a longer than expected wait. About 15-20 minutes. My perch was cold, dry and not worthy of consumption (so I didn't), and her poor man's lobster, I thought, was pretty tasty. Food arrived, and we didn't have napkins or silverware. 1 pad of butter for baked potato & bread, just not enough to care for both. No salt & pepper. In my 40 years of going out for a Friday night Fish Fry, I very sadly give this place my thumbs down 👎 as a recommendation to anyone seeking service and an enjoyable evening. The manager (Taylor) was the quickest part of the evening, refunding a portion of the bill.

We had our company Christmas party here. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting - really enjoyed the fire pit outside. The waitstaff was probably the most incredible thing. There were so many of them and they were so attentive and friendly. If we needed something they went to get it immediately. You didn't need to hunt them down to remind them. Remington's River Inn is a small bar/restaurant located on the Mequon river themed to, what can only be described as northern Wisconsin.

I have been here several different times, and every time the food has tasted significantly different. The calamari steak tastes greasy and burnt. Absolutely awful. The shrimp de jonghe is okay at best. For 30 dollars I would hope to get more than four shrimp. The sauce tasted like dirty cheap butter. Then they top it off with what can only be described as, half a crouton. The mashed potatoes where very dry and somehow crunchy. Almost as if they have been microwaved. The planked salmon was completely flavorless. Absolutely no seasonings. The salmon "sauce" tasted like nothing but horseradish and cream. Fries are usually soggy and taste like old oil. Their burgers however are very delicious. But you have a 50/50 chance of it being overcooked. Water usually tastes old and dirty. Like they scooped right from the river out back. The Dr. Pepper is very sweet, almost like cotton candy. The chicken tenders are almost always dry. And taste frozen and pre-cooked. In fact everything that involves chicken is very dry. The nachos are usually dry and greasy, feels like food I could make at home. The Cobb salad always has a good amount of food and is your best bang for the buck. The Mac and cheese is always to die for. Add chicken to it and it's even better. The steak sandwich is always very juicy and has an amazing sauce on it. I'm a big fan of Ruben sandwiches so of course I recommend it. The baked French onion soup, has cheese over the top, which is either overcooked or undercooked. It makes it greasy. But the soup itself is absolutely incredible.

Now let's talk service. The service is wonderful... As long as you do not get Debra as a server. She is nice, but very inattentive. She also smells like cigarettes, badly. The other servers are always very nice and check in regularly. Taylor is the nicest and most helpful.

When they serve food they often prioritize the children, which is great. But the kids food is overpriced. Anything other than kids food takes almost 30-40 minutes, on a slow day, to get my food. Drinks can take even longer. When sitting in the bar or closer to the kitchen, you can hear everything they say. They swear a lot, and make fun of each other constantly. Sometimes they sing very loudly which me nor my family enjoys. It seems they spend more time talking then they do cooking. Recently there has been a new kid named Tyler and some guy named David. They seem to make fun of them constantly. Whether it be the bartender Bruce, someone in the serving window, or people in the kitchen. The Tyler kid looks 14 at best. Which is absolutely no age for a kid to work. I don't know the names of others in the kitchen, only them, because they make fun of them constantly.

Next the atmosphere, the place is very warm and cozy. It has a nice cabin like feel and I enjoy it. The walls and decor have been very well kept. By the front door/bar they have video gambling. Why? It feels almost as if they don't make enough money that they must have machines to steal money from you. Other than that, they have a very nice rock grotto. Beautifully built, and furnished with nice couches and chairs.
I have had a chance to meet the owner, Amy, She is a very nice lady who not only puts on effort to treat the guests well, but the staff too. Parking can be a nightmare at times, especially on a busy night. The door does have a wheelchair ramp leading up to it which I do enjoy.

The reason I gave this place such a low score, is because of the food being inconsistent, several staff members, the kitchen being loud, long wait times, and drinks tasting bad.

In conclusion,
Remington's River Inn is a nice restaurant, however I don't recommend coming here more than once. There are much better restaurants you can go to, less than a block away.

Do not order shrimp deJonge. For $30, you get 4 shrimp burried in 1/2c of cheap oily butter/margarine with about 1/3 of a crouton crushed at the bottom. No sherry or other ingredients you find in the traditional dish nor any flavor other than oily butter. The shrimp was fresh but exceedingly overpriced and falsely described/named. The waitress said the manager would come over but she didn't and nothing was deducted, so leaving a justly bad review is my only remaining option. The table was also dirty.

We had the best dinner, starting with the bear claw appetizer, which was a delicious surprise with the topping on the mushrooms. The French onion soup was really delicious and rich with flavor. I had the Chicken Marsalis for dinner with egg noodles, and it absolutely did not disappoint. I'll be back a hundred times. My family and I recently visited Thiensville, WI and found this little gem. When we first got there we almost didn't go in, but decided to proceed. WOW one of the most beautiful places ever. The atmosphere was absolutely stunning. In the back of this restaurant is a beautiful river just there. The waitress was so friendly. I felt right at home. Decided to try a new place tonight and Remington's River Inn was delightful! Our server was really amazing, she offered suggestions and checked in on us. Loved seeing the river from our table and the food was really good. We will definitely be back.

Fabulous place! Bruce the bartender is particularly wonderful, and super attentive! You never have a full dinner here, and I would pass up a table just to sit at the bar and talk to Bruce. There’s never a dull moment, and it feels like you’ve walked into a family reunion dinner that you didn’t know you were invited to. Alway recommend Remington’s, and in particular, sitting at the bar! We love you Bruce!

Not a good experience at all. We started with spinach artichoke dip, and all we could taste was sour cream. Then I got my salad and I had the thousand island salad dressing which tasted like mayo. Then I had the chicken marsala which I didn't think was bad but was very sweet and very different from others I have had. The other person dining with me has the pork chop dinner and said it was okay but nothing to come back for. I ended up going back because my grandma chose this as her birthday dinner spot and I went with the chili because I was scared to order anything else. Which I will say they do have great chilli. But then she got the lava cake for dessert and well there was no lava and it was dry. Overall bad food. It's a shame because the atmosphere is so cool. Food doesn't match tho.

Excellent dining experience. I had the cedar plank salmon and my wife had the large shrimp. Both meals were prepared perfectly.
The two words that describe the atmosphere are woodsy and cozy.

Honestly this place looked good, however there food was gross. The pizza looked amazing but the red sauce tasted like tomato past (no flavor) garlic bread was also flavorless … overall disappointing and over priced. you get better food with frozen pizza and garlic toast …

Ordered the meatloaf, vegetables were cold, meatloaf was dry and mashed potatoes were over salted. Our server took his time on everything, ordered our drinks, had to wait for the drinks to order the appetizers, and didn't get our dinner order til we were done with the appetizers. 3% if you use credit card added to your bill. The burgers my family had they enjoyed.

My husband and I love this north woods cabin style family restaurant. The bar has a nice specialty cocktails list as well as wines. The beer menu only listed bottles but I could see they have at least 15 beer options on tap. I'm not sure if they're not included in bar menus because you can see the taps? Maybe they are included with dinner menus but I didn't sit in the dining room.
My husband and father in law love the reuben, saying it's one of the best in the area. I love their crab cakes and often order them with a side caesar, which is standard but good!
On this trip, I ordered to go and it was a thirty minute wait (I called at 6:00). The kitchen is small so you have to be patient but it's worth it. While I waited one of the managers initiated an awkward confrontation with staff which I found uncomfortable. I understand the serving station is directly next to the bar, but there should be a more discreet way to go about that.
My husband and I ordered the bear paws, reuben, and steak sandwich. I was pleased that they asked for doneness on the steak sandwich and even more pleased when it came medium rare, as ordered.
If you are in the area, I urge you to check out this laid back bar and grill!

One of my favorite lunch / dinner spots. The staff is nice, the food is great, the atmosphere is very unique and comforting, and the owners are awesome. Best French onion soup and mozzarella sticks around! They are huge supporters of the community and Homestead athletics as well. 10/10 would recommend.

First time customer. The atmosphere was nice but the good experience stopped as soon as we sat down. We ordered drinks and I must say my margarita was terrible. I'm not sure what it was but it wasn't a margarita. I took about 3 sips and it tasted like tequila and syrup. It was really bad.
They where very busy and our waitress was friendly but when she brought the salad out she brought one salad fork with it and we had to ask for napkins.
She never brought them so my friend went and got them herself. Finally after about 30 minutes our dinner was served. Still no silverware. So we had to wait for that. She nicely sat the silverware down on the napkins we provided for ourselves. I ordered the meatloaf. The meatloaf was nothing like the description on the menu. Basically it was 2 thick slices of dried out hamburger with very little seasoning and about a teaspoon of what appeared to be salsa and it was Luke warm. The garlic mashed potatoes where also Luke warm and crusty around the edges as though they sat under a heat lamp and dried out. Luckily they gave me a tiny slab of butter that helped give them some taste. No one came back to the table until I stopped someone and asked for a container to take home the meatloaf. Which my dog was more than happy to eat.
It was my first experience. I had hoped I had found a new place to take my husband but I don't think I will be going back.

We randomly tried Remington's based on our inherent love for dogs. We were not disappointed. One of our party has odd dietary restriction that were not a problem at all. The wait for our food was as would be expected to know the food is being prepared freshly.. We both had steaks that were prepared exactly as ordered, melt in your mouth texture and exquisitely tender. The salad was crisp and fresh. The blue cheese dressing was thick and flavorful without the bite that sometimes accompanies blue cheese dressing. To finish the meal we chose the lava cakes. Soft chocolate center with a delectable vanilla bean ice cream drizzled with chocolate and caramel. Waitstaff attentive without being annoying. Highly reccomended.

My partner & I stopped for his birthday meal & the staff was great.I really enjoyed my filet at first I thought it might be too small but it was perfect. I would definitely go back here! Loved the view of the river - they have some beautiful outdoor seating - even though we chose to eat indoors.
