Employee refused to take an old school 20 dollar. State that if she took the money her boss will be mad. She don’t have a marker and told me I will have to go get change in order to pay for my food. I tried showing her how to check money without a marker and she even refused. I told her you just lost a customer for life because she even refused to get help to verify and had an attitude.

The UP of Michigan is known as the home of the Pasty. I’ve had several while visiting up there, all good. Reynold’s brings that flavor, quality and tradition to Milwaukee. I only wish I had found this place sooner! I was in and out in about 4 min with a hot Pasty that was more than enough for lunch! Highly recommend Reynold’s!

Okay, seriously, like what in the heck is going on with this place? They must be under new ownership....or something?

Anyhow, I've been making several attempts to call and inquire about methods of payment. I'm still not sure if they're just cash only or what???

And just this morning, not too long ago (8:45AM) I'm in the area after traveling from Menomonee Falls where I now reside, and thought, let me just stop over there and ask in person. I pull up & the sign clearly says open from 9:30 to 6:30, Tuesdays thru Saturdays. I decided to just park in front of the shop and wait. I then notice a little after 9AM, the Boost Mobile right next to Reynolds pasties had opened their doors indicating that they were open for business, inviting customers to come on in. I'm thinking okay, wonderful, the pasty shop should be opening in a bit. Well, 9:30 comes and goes and the freaking shop did not open. I should have known better because I couldn't smell any goodness wafting in the air. Mad as heck but didn't want my wait to be in vain, I stay until after 10AM & nope! Doors still locked. OPEN sign still not lit. Ugh! I get out and double check the sign to see if maybe they were closed due to observance of the 4th of July. Nope, no indications of that. So yeah, I'm done trying. Was going to buy 2 dozen par-baked pasties, as well as 1 dozenn hot for the family. We grew up on 36th & Meineke and haven't had these things in years. So disappointing 😞

So edit. Just did some research & found out that the original owner apparently retired and sold the pasty shop to some Nigerian guy that used to own African Hut. I believe it used to be on the East side, I think. Not sure, I've never been and have yet to try any African cuisine. But my point is, damn, I wish that man would have never sold his place. He used to be open at the times that were indicated. And they used to open way earlier back in the day. Oh well, I'm just heartbroken.

So I just read the owners response, and not only is he slacking off in his duties as an owner, he's a liar to boot. Nowhere on the website does it detail that the staff goes on a break once a year. Nor did it on the front door of the buisness. I said what I said.

So, I went to Reynolds Pasty Shop today. The pasty was very good. The woman at the sales counter was very friendly and well spoken. ("It amazes me that this business has been around for over fifty years only selling ONE product!") The price was very fair. The slice of pecan pie that I bought with the pasty was also very tasty and fairly priced. My two challenges with this food experiment were, 1.) Location. It was 40 minutes from my house and there was really nothing nearby to enhance the visit. 2.) Walk-up business only. For me, going out for food is not just the consumable, but the total dining experience. Because it is located so far from home I had to enjoy the food in the Woodman's parking lot or the pasty would have grown cold enough to have to reheat, defeating the purpose of going to the destination. If you happen to be in the neighborhood of 35th and Burleigh, you should absolutely stop in to experience their great pasties. They are savory and quite filling!

Excellent. Know this the Hot-N-Fresh is very hot and real fresh. The pastry outer reminded me of pot pies of years long ago. We had beef gravy and sour cream. Sour cream was best but close 2nd was gravy. Some people park right on the street outside, we have a fat rear end so we squeezed into parking lot across the street. I hope we have time to stop in again before we leave.

Sent my daughter to get lunch when she returned I peel back the paper attempt to break my pasty open and there it was a dead fly baked into my pasty. When I called the woman that answered told me to bring the pasty back I informed her I could send a pic but refuse to drive twenty minutes back. I won't be back there due to this experience. This place is amazing. Growing up my next door neighbor was from Superior Wisconsin and she has been making Pasties all her life and I remember they were delicious. These Pasties tasted Just Like Her Homemade. Flaky crust. Lots of meat and onions. They are reasonably priced. Great quick service and very nice people there. Very friendly and sweet. I have been buying Reynold's Pasties for years in the frozen food section of our local grocery store. They are so good. Well I finally stopped and bought 3 fresh ones from their restaurant. I’ve been coming here for years, and this review long earned its place. However this pasty shop has long earned its excellent reputation on its own. If they’re not open, I’d get the frozen ones. The stores that use to carry these always sold out and NO OTHER pasty compares. If you never had one or thought about it….. BEST PASTY you’ll ever have!!! I have been gone from Milwaukee for such a long time ,(1996 I believe),but I still crave a Reynolds pasty weekly! First of all,it is hands down the most flavorful,perfectly constructed pasty I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. The meat is tender and juicy,the vegetables steamed to perfection. Secondly if you have a hangover, you know one of those kind that make you get in your car and hit McDonald's, KFC and just for good measure,the Chicago Hotdog place on the way home! Well this sublime pocket sandwich of dreams fills the void that is sending you out into that cruel(bright)world.
Since I have moved I have found the frozen Reynolds at the grocery store(Pic-n-Save, Piggly wiggly,Woodmans) but I went to Festival today,and guess what.....NO REYNOLDS!!!!! This has to be fixed! I have a car and I am not afraid to use it(for lunch,3 1/2 hours away. What's a little cross State jaunt between a girl and her Reynolds Pasty! Thank-you for all of the wonderful meals! Very good, customer service is probably the best service in Milwaukee. I love when I go inside a business and greeted pleasantly with a smile. However, it could use a cosmetic upgrade. It's old looking and dingy.

As far as the pasty, on point. It's a simple dish that comes together to something magical. Just meat, potatoes, vegetables wrapped inside a pasty ( think of an oversized hot pocket). Add gravy, cheese, sour cream, salt or pepper to taste.

I highly recommend it.
