After a long UTV ride we come across this old school restaurant and bar. Great atmosphere and the people are so friendly. When our food came out, they did not disappoint. Huge meals with reasonable prices. And yes if was delicious!

The . Burger was chews and thin tasted like a freezer burnt piece of meat. Stay at the hotel which was a big mistake. The shades on the window did not stop the light outside. So it felt like you were trying to sleep with a light on. The pillows were complete trash flat and don't get me started on the plastic lined bed. So if you like horrible food and the worst night sleep ever stay here.

Supper club: burgers were very good. Service was friendly, attentive, and warm. Atmosphere was exactly what I expected from a supper club. We had a good time.

Motel: do not recommend for lite sleepers. The highway traffic, music from the bar, and blinds with no curtains to block the lights made it very difficult to sleep. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable (2 full sized beds). Smart TV with internet but the only thing that was able to play was live tv. The room did have positives in that it was clean, the water was hot, and it's a convenient location for northwoods activities. Camping would have been better though.

My first review of Richard's was in October, 2017. The food is as delicious today as it was then. This past season, we ate in twice and once ordered a carry-out.|The carry-out was for their Friday fish fry. Our order included nine entrees of various fish (Walleye, Perch, Shrimp). Th e food was ready for pick-up as scheduled. Everyone got what they ordered and were very pleased. Everyone enjoyed the Cheese Curds.|The two times we ate in, once was a fish fry and the other was on a Sunday. The fish fry was delicious. On Sunday, we enjoyed their chicken and prime beef sandwiches. The food was fantastic. The service was very attentive.

Stopped for dinner on a weds night and ate at the bar. Bartender was really nice & attentive. Brandy Old Fashion were great. Food portions were good, we didnt do the whole soup & salad bar.

Chicken Parmasean special was great. Not usually a meatloaf person, but for some reason it called my name and i was happy it did because it was awesome!

Lots of hummingbirds to watch. Inside was slightly dated. and bathrooms could use a little bit of work. Soap dispensers were empty and fixtures were kinda rusty.

The rooms, its the Northwoods, you get what you pay for, we were always on the go, spent very little time in our room, dont need much, we will definitely go back!!
The restraunt....was excellent!!!! We were welcomed by Lynn & she made us feel like we were a regulars our entire stay. I would like to say dinner was also excellent, we ordered the Rib Eye & Prime Rib dinners, both meals were made to perfection !!!
Very easy access to the trails that allow you to ride anywhere....we will definitely be repeat customers!

Randy and Lynn, the owners, are amazing people. It feels like cheers when you walk in because everyone knows your name after a couple of stays. The rooms and restaurant bring you right back to the good ol' days. Nothing fancy, but you can't beat the prices. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner in their banquet room, and they were beyond accommodating. The ATV trails are literally steps from the restaurant and motel. Beautiful area if you get the chance to visit, say hi from the Morrells!

As my hot car’s four cylinder engine struggled to crest the hill just east of Richard’s of Dunbar, the bright lights beckoned to me, much like a game of Oregon Trail once did for me as a fifth grader completing his homework assignment. I had outlasted the heat and famine like conditions of my hot car and survived a bout with dysentery - my respite rested on the right side of the road and called me in.

While I was disappointed that the Holly Room wasn’t open on this Wednesday evening, the horseshoe bar upstairs served up a delightful view of the patrons, with an aquarium behind them providing a convenient aversion for my eyes during inevitable awkward eye contact.

My two boys watched as I ordered some discounted Busch Lights, just as my father did when he used to drink. (Nowadays, he only drinks at mines, remembering his glory days. He doesn’t drink above ground anymore after I beat him in a drinking contest some 5 years ago.)

The juxtaposition of the cold Busch Lights against my hot car ushered in a welcome change. I also thoroughly appreciated Richard’s restroom facilities, which had just enough equipment for my boys and I to urinate at the same time. It was a tight fit, but none of us had to endure a painful wait for the others to finish.

The cod sandwich was crispy and delicious, and the beer was cold and soothing. The kind attendant behind the bar helped explain the game show on TV to my boys and helped keep them entertained while I drank. We had such a good time that my son took a selfie of the three of us in front of the Richard’s sign on our way out.

Thanks Richard! We’ll be back. And now, back to the hot, hot road.

My husband had a BLT and it was large and he said very good. Monday is the wing special. They have many sauces to choose from. You can have your wings rolled in the sauce or on the side. Owners are very good people, went in there after walking 17-25 miles for a whole night and making a detour to the town of Dunbar because there was no way I was gonna make it to the next city.
Admittedly, I can't give an unbiased review of the food or rooms because I am a man in a state of desperation.
But everything seemed pretty good to me.
The lady there actually tried asking people who came through there if they'd be willing to give me a ride to Illinois or at least greenbay, since a lot of people are driving in that direction usually.
Some guy who heard about my situation left me 20 bucks for a meal, close enough, I guess.
I'll be sure to come back again someday when I'm in a better situation.
If you're like me, an idiot trying to walk 415 miles to another state, this is worth the detour. Trust me, you won't make it if you don't stop.

We were traveling from N.E. Wisconsin to Upper Michigan on August 20, 2023. The battery in our car shorted out and we were stranded. Fortunately, we were close to Richard's and I went in to ask if I could use the restroom. Lynn, who was behind the bar, was very sympathetic to our situation. Yes, I could use the restroom she said. Lynn also said I should take a seat while waiting for help to arrive. I told her that would be great except we were traveling with a Miniature Schnauzer. Lynn said no problem, bring her in too. I thought that was very kind and that there are genuinely good people in this world today. The temperature outside was in the high 80's. We were inside in cool comfort for 2 hours while we waited for help to arrive. Thank you Lynn. We will definetly stop for supper when we are in the area.

The service was spot on, efficient without being overbearing.

I had the salad and soup bar. Salad bar was fresh, good homemade dressings. I had a Chicken Tortilla Soup, was a little like chilli, very tasty. For dinner I had a Filet and Garlic Mashed Potatoes. The filet was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The potatoes were solid, the gravy a bit salty. No bread or relish Tray, but I was ok with that.

Looked cute enough, so we stopped on a Sunday night. Checked the menu for vegetarian options, ordered the cheese pizza with vegetables and emphasized “no meat.” Meanwhile, asked the server which appetizer she’d recommend, and she said “mozzarella sticks,” so we ordered them. Fifteen minutes later she came out to tell us, “we don’t have mozzarella sticks,” so we decided we’d be happy with the salad bar. Twenty minutes later she brought our pizza: sausage and pepperoni. We explained that was not what we ordered. The manager came and apologized and offered us “dessert and another beer and something off the pizza.” We waited but the beer never came and no one took a dessert order. We flagged down our server, requested the beer and the dessert menu. “We don’t have a dessert menu.” We asked what they have. “Brownies and ice cream.” We ordered a brownie with ice cream. Ten minutes later, she told us “we don’t have brownies.” This time she mentioned bread pudding, so we ordered that. We were charged for the beer, the dessert, and given $5 off the $20 pizza we couldn’t eat.

Disappointed. We went on a Wednesday night for a nice meal (anniversary). We used to frequent Richard's regularly but that was a couple of owners ago. We had been hearing good things recently about Richard's so we decided to go for a nice steak. Come to find out they were not cooking steaks because of a staffing issue. Disappointed, but ok we'll deal with it. Then we find out that the only night of the week they don't have the salad bar is on Wednesdays (my wife's favorite part of the meal). Further disappointment. While the waitress was not unfriendly, she wasn't real welcoming either, adding to further disappointment with our visit. The food we did have was ok but it wasn't what we were hoping for. I'm sure we will try them again, after the taste of disappointment leaves our mouth.

Been here a few time sin the last 3 years. Not once has anything been good. The drinks are always weak and expensive, none of the food we have tried has ever been eaten completely, its just not good at all. The Lady who was bar tending apparently only serves people she knows or "locals".... We sat with an empty glass for 20 minutes and there were only 9 people in the bar but she was treating it like there were hundreds and she was alone. Eventually we just gave up and left. Highly recommend you go elsewhere. Theres a nice new place in town, Thermal choas just opened in the old north country location. Very friendly and OK food.

We stopped by and grabbed takeout sandwiches for a picnic lunch. Great choice. Super friendly service. Tastey sandwiches. We can definitely recommend the Chicken club, pulled pork and chicken caprese.
