River Jams is in such a cool spot and the food blew me away. From the outside, it looks like your typical dive but the food is much more elevated than that.

Not to mention, you are right on the river and we had live music which appears to be the normal on most weekend nights. Great place, and I would recommend it to anyone!

Wonderful food, wonderful spot, wonderful staff! Shame on me for judging a book by its cover, Ryan the young bartender made me one of the best old fashions I’ve had. A close second to my own! Fish fry was spot on, light batter, garlic smash was perfect, tarter was unique, and the coleslaw tasted as if it had a hint of apple juice in it. LOVED IT! Other than having to wait for an hour for our food, the location was nice. It's more of a bar than a restaurant. We didn't get our dinner roll either, but otherwise, food was typical fish fry. The beer battered fish and shrimp is the best around. Last night was our 1st time there. The homemade rolls were also very good. The garlic mashed baby res looked and tasted good, but were only luke warm and too thick. The old Frog Hop had the best ones anywhere. If River Jams wants the best ones, they need to serve them in a bowl, piping hot and more creamy, so they stay hot. It doesn't work to put the potatoes on the plate before the fish is done. They need to be kept very hot before putting on the plate and not be sitting there getting cold. The Cole slaw looked good, but didn't have much flavor. They were slightly sweet and not very creamy, so were confusing. Either serve traditional creamy coleslaw with good flavor or sweet non-creamy coleslaw.

1st time at this restaurant.
My 20 yr old son and I just got home from Friday night fish fry at River Jams. Just so everyone knows (we didn’t know this), they ONLY have fish on Fridays. My son had the battered fried cod dinner and enjoyed it and I had the grilled walleye. The walleye was sooooo good! The seasoning was amazing and it was grilled literally perfect. My baked potato was great, coleslaw tasted fresh and even the dinner roll was good…we didn’t even add butter it was so good.
My son’s “kiddie cocktail” refill was free.
I got a Bloody Mary with a Spotted Cow chaser. The Bloody Mary had good flavor and was definitely not watered down. If you’re a lightweight drinker like me, only order one drink here, lol.
If I had any complaint it would be about the Bloody Mary. I made it pretty clear that I wanted the spice in the drink to be mild. If that was mild, I’d hate to get it medium or spicy. If I hadn’t have liked the buzz I was catching (lol) I wouldn’t have finished the drink. I’m also a lightweight with spice, but this was pretty spicy, especially for mild. It even said mild on the receipt, so I know that our waitress knew, but not sure whoever mixed it saw that. Anyway, it was still good flavor and gave me a decent buzz and was only $5 and came with a chaser.
Overall, a great experience and we will return to try their burgers!

Friday fish fry is awesome. the regular menu stops at 4PM on Friday and it is ONLY fish fry...great idea. beautiful setting right on the river. Why were we the only ones here?! 😍 We arrived at 4 PM on a Tuesday to find an empty dining room, and a beautiful view. With a prompt greeting, we sat ourselves by the window and were welcomed with menus and a smile. I wish I caught the friendly lady bartender's name — she was so kind and attentive! The food was STELLAR. (A male appeared for a while who had a phone conversation and watched the working crew before going outside to linger.... an inactive manager, perhaps?) The crew of three we saw working stayed busy with their time, and made us feel comfortable. We'll definitely return!

This place was not at all what was advertised. The menu was extremely limited. The chicken strips had little to no meat. The chicken sandwich was tough. This restaurant offers customers a free drink in exchange for a five star review. We went to River Jams on Saturday, July 8 with family (who have worked in food service in the past) from out of town based on the online reviews and menu. No one greeted us when we walked in, so we seated ourselves. The view is beautiful on the deck, but air conditioning unit is loud. One of our beer glasses was chipped on the rim. The menu was 1/3 of the size of the online, and we waited for 50 minutes for our food even though they had two cooks in the kitchen. The portions were tiny - only three shrimp on a shrimp po' boy and the tacos were lukewarm. The food is served in cardboard trays. Beyond disappointing and a wasted $70. We will not be returning.

Four girlfriend’s just stopping in for a drink and appetizers. Two waitresses and a bartender were directly in front of us as we waited to be asked if they could help us. Gave up on them and asked if we could see a menu. We got a menu and ordered drinks and cheese curds and French fries. We sat outside among other’s and watched them all be waited on and served. Over an hour no one asked if we’d like another drink nor did we get our food order. We inquired about our order and no one knew anything about it. They went back in and came back out serving others. Again we waited, FINALLY our order came with an explanation that “The fryer has been a little slow today.” Yeah, but not for other orders. Hmmm, Our food was oily and basically disgusting. Still, no one offered to refresh our drinks.

Arrived shortly after 7pm on a Saturday. There were 4 staff and roughly 20 people inside (outside there was live music, so different story). We sat at the bar, the 2 end seats closest to the door.
It took quite a while to be acknowledged, and even then we were not asked if we wanted menus. We were bummed about the abbreviated menu options, but chose a basic burger very well done, fries, and coconut shrimp. We had to nearly be obnoxious to have our order taken as multiple staff walked right by us serving people walking up to the bar. We waited nearly 45 minutes with empty glasses at this point for our food. When our dinner was ready a staff member brought one plate with a cheeseburger and one plate with shrimp. No napkins, no silverware, no condiments, and no fries. We asked for all and were given napkins and fries. I tore my burger in half and it was still very pink. A 1/4 inch thick frozen patty that took an hour to make was still partially raw. At this point I pushed my plate away and when finally acknowledged by what we think was an owner asked for a box so I could take it home and finish cooking it. She did offer to have another made but I wasn't waiting another hour. Also I was drinking melted ice at this point, with still no acknowledgement of an empty drink. When we asked for our bill it was also incorrect. There was our food along with a beer and a wine drink which we did not have. We attempted to get someone's attention to rectify, but after waiting another 10 minutes to be acknowledged we just paid it and left. I've never in my life left less than a 20% tip (usually way over that as I know how hard service staff works), but tonight I left a very nominal one. Over an hour for a dinner I had to go home and finish cooking, all while having people served drinks while standing over me and being ignored caused a nominal tip. All in all great location but they definitely need people running the place who have some restaurant experience. Bar Rescue and Jon Taffer they could definitely use you!
