Server was nice but couldn't get her attention to refill drinks, or get take out containers for our little bit of food that was left. Lunch took an hour minimum to be order, be served, eat the grilled cheese sandwiches that weren't even melted through. Seriously, cold cheese. . The younger waitress in a tight pink shirt was the only one working, while the older blondes stood there and did absolutely nothing. Wouldn't help the lines of people or anything. I was very disappointed and will not be returning. To bad because we recently moved here. $60 for 3 cold cheese sandwiches, 2 bowls of soup, and 1 cheesy bread with cold marinara sauce.

As someone who has worked in the service industry for over a decade as both a server and bartender, I understand that mistakes happen — it’s how you handle them that matters. Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was unacceptable from start to finish.

Terry was our server, and while she admitted to losing our ticket (which can happen), her response afterward was careless and dismissive. We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food, and when it finally arrived, our appetizer was cold, and most of the entrées were barely warm. Terry mentioned we might receive two sets of meals due to the ticket being lost — not exactly reassuring.

What was most disappointing was the complete lack of attentiveness. Terry ignored our table for most of the visit, barely checked in, and didn’t seem to care whether we had drinks or needed anything. Rather than owning the situation, she seemed embarrassed and just avoided us altogether.

I don’t expect perfection, but I do expect accountability, communication, and basic hospitality — none of which we received. This experience was incredibly frustrating and disappointing, especially knowing how hard this industry can be. I hope the restaurant addresses this kind of service for future guests.

"When it was not crowded during the Birkie week, it meant something", said by my fellow after we shared the dinner here.

Got hot beef with gravy sauce, toast and veggies of the day. The gravy sauce was too salty to taste something else, beef was dry and veggies of the day was...canned corn and carrot. Although the waitress was very nice to us, food was just unacceptable.

The service was great. But the food was inedible. I get things can happen on days to throw things off, but it seemed like a breakdown on the part of the cooks.

The fried items tasted like the oil hadn’t been changed in a while. My fries and the onion rings my friend got tasted like chicken, which isn’t the worst thing in the world. But it left a film on the back of my throat that stuck with me the rest of the night.

The meat smelled like burnt hair. It seemed like they cooked it a week ago in a batch and microwaved it to reheat it. I took 2 bites of it but it was so bad I couldn’t eat any more. I paid for a meal I took 3 bites out of and went and got a frozen pizza after.

The owner might want to change up how the kitchen does things. This was the worst tasting food I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

We were in Hayward for the Birkie. We called ahead on Wednesday, as we we had 9 adults and 2 toddlers. No problem seating us when we arrived about 5 p.m. After several minutes a male server asked if he could have some of menu's for another table. No problem, but he never came back to take our order. Several times he passed by. Three other tables were seated and ordered. Finally a lady server asked if we had been helped. She said she would tell our server. A while later she came again to check, very obvious we still had our menus. She was very kind and said once she finished delivering some food she would take our order. Meantime, those three tables that came in ordered, got their food and left. After she finally took our order we did get our food. All of this took 2 hours! It was not her fault, it was the male server who never acknowledged us after taking some of our menus for another table or two. We were very disappointed in the service. Considering we had two toddlers, they did very well. We realize we did have a large group, but considering other people were coming in, ordering and leaving before we even got our food, that is not acceptable.

I had to go to the restroom. I told 2 waitresses to leave my food while i went. Made a point to let them know i was not leaving just restroom. I came out and my enyire breakfast was thrown away. God Dam . They acted like no big deal. One of them was going to give me new breakfast. Like i want another meal. The could have offered next time i came free. But no . Then instead of giving me a half price since they threw half my breakfast away. No. They charge me full price after their mistake. I go there fairly often and things are fine. I could understand if it was busy, but very few there. I am not a review guy or poster, person. But this was stupid and did not get handled well. I will not go back for a long time. Split vote on the food. Half the table got the special of wings and thought they were ok to good for dinner. Half the table had pizza and it was some of the worst pizza we've ever had. It was a food service crust, delivered uncooked, with cold ingredients and a sugary sauce with ZERO spices. OMG bad. We sent it back to get cooked, and it returned STILL raw....the crust was no where near browned. This is seriously some of the worst pizza I've had. Please, go get canned pizza sauce, tech your cook how to cook the pizza until the crust is slightly browned and ingredients cooked. Nope. Will not be back.

RiverStreet remains one of favorite places to stop for breakfast. We live about 25 minutes away but we regularly come up with a reason we need to travel to Hayward so that we can get a good breakfast at RiverStreet. This is the most disgusting, unappealing, horribly ran restaurant I have been to. We where told to have a seat by a lady who and she would be right with us. She never came, instead another waitress eneded up coming over after 10 min. Everything in here is dirty, sticky and gloomy. I would not recommend this place to my enemy's. Please do not waist your time and money. McDonald's would be a better option, heck I would take a Lunchable over eating here for free.

I live in Hayward and have been going to Riverstreet since they opened. The have generous portions and the servers are good…. Except for my last two visits. They have a new server whose name starts with an S (trying to protect her identity except for management) . She is the worst server I’ve encountered in a long time. First time it took 15 minutes before she came to the table. Then I ordered food and 40 minutes later …. No food…. No server. She was on a computer most of the time. I walked out. I gave it another chance and unlucky for I got the same server. She was inattentive and miss managed my order. When I brought it to her attention she just blew me off. This is a good restaurant…. They just need to train or replace this server.

Rustic northern outdoorsy decor atmosphere. Comfort food quality menu. Has multiple seating option from communal horseshoe shape counter to booth or table to accommodate any size groups.

Not to be left off, a yummy selection of pies/cakes is the cherry on top ending to a great meal.

While this is a great place to go for the home cooked quality food, it is my opinion it's not a place that treats their customers as king/queen. Prolonged wait to be seated as host/cashier socialized with locals eventually seating me and server who was not tolerant of anything other than the order, the overall non food experience was dismal. The obvious follow up would have maybe resolved issues but no one did periodic checks or stop bys.

As in if they are BBQ or other flavors...response was " Chicken " as if that wasn't obvious ...Never asked if I wanted more meatloaf or water etc ,..Just a bill ..Not surprised that nobody is in there at night ...

food was ok, bacon tasted like it was cooked ahead and had sat a while. portions were good. waitress mezzed up our order. Decided to wipe off the coffee pot while I was waiting. Nasty. That was a clean napkin!

A really great restaurant that takes me back to the days of hometown places that I grew up with. Good specials everyday, with a great breakfast menu, easy lunch and dinner options, and always good service. They are a little overworked, but tip well, they are going the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of. I highly recommend this place. Don't forget to get a picture with the black bears!

Stopped for breakfast. Wait staff was friendly. Coffee carafe on the table is always nice. We both had the Game Day Skillet: hash browns covered in taco meat, cheese, 2 eggs on top, salsa and sour cream on the side, choice of toast or pancake. I think it was $11. 60
We both thought it was very good.

I looked at over at the salad bar as we entered the dining room. It was so messy & disgusting...It made me want to leave. The service was good. The food was bland & not to good. My stepson took me there while I was visiting him...he thought the food was so good. Not many choices in Wisconsin.
