These gals don't need reviews to let everyone know how great they are. The restaurant is always packed, but the seat you quickly when a table opens up. I want to give the cooks a five-star review. The plates are always served full of the best home cooked food. The ladies up front are friendly and attentive. I declined a refill on my soda, so she asked me if I would like my refill in a take out cup!

We always stop at Riverstreet when we are at the cabin. The breakfast is good, the price is right and if you leave hungry that’s your fault. The cinnamon rolls are enormous. Coffee at every table. The servers are friendly. Sometimes there’s a wait. There’s counter seating available.

This is a cute little place. There were six in our party. My eggs were undercooked and cold. Not lukewarm, cold. My husband's skillet was burnt. The pancakes were tough and cold. Our waitress did not check on us. I provided her with this feedback at the register, and she sincerely apologized. I hope this was an isolated occurrence, but I don't plan to return based on the poor service and downright bad food.

5/16/25 We were a group of 8 ladies from Central Minnesota stopping on our way to Hayward, it happened to be towards the end of the lunch crowd, 3 of us got there before the others so we checked if they were able to take all of us in a group and luckily they held another table next to us. The wait staff were awesome and very courteous and the food very good and generous portions, with our group having breakfast, lunch and dinner meals. The Country Fried Steak and Eggs was so good, like home made, Liver and Onions is a rare find in most restaurants but portions were big enough to share and the liver was so tender, the steak dinner was very good. We shared an order of whiskey battered onion rings which were quite different and some not a fan but others liked them. The prices are very reasonable. It's a cute little cafe with a north woods log cabin feel, but booths are very small so we were lucky to get a couple of tables, and there is seating at a counter. We would recommend this restaurant. Enjoy!

At around $16 for a bacon double cheeseburger, no fries or any sides not even a pickle or lettuce/tomato on the side, I expected a very tasty burger. Unfortunately it's a premade patty like you can buy frozen at Walmart. The beef tasted like nothing. Bacon was delicious at least but did not redeem the burger.

For me, restaurant food needs to be better than I can make at home and this just wasn't.

Awesome place to eat and friendly service...🥰👍. I would love to also add, the pies are fabulous. I travel through a couple times a year and I always make sure I buy pies from them. My family loves them down here in Southeastern Wisconsin and it's the best pies I've had in a long time and my son loves them. Don't ever stop making those pies because they accompany the food that you serve very well. Thank you for all you do...😋😋😋

As an out of towner who is not from here, the service is very different than from where I'm from. We weren't checked on, maybe once. That may be the culture of here. The atmosphere is not the best. Our first time here; we stopped in for lunch. During lunch rush so we had to wait a bit for a table and were eventually seated at a table that had been empty since we walked in. We must have gotten there at a shift change; our first server was very friendly and nice, but the second one not so much so, she just seemed indifferent.
When you get a salad with your meal, they don't mess around! You get a good sized salad with baby carrots, celery, green peppers, tomatoes, and onions. They are not stingy with their dressing, which is great. The gobbler sandwich on the menu was $9.99 and tater tots were an additional $2, totalling $11.99. However, they had the gobbler sandwich with one side (like tater tots) on "special" for $12.50 LOL. So be a bit careful of the specials. The website menu says $5.99 for that sandwich so don't go by the online prices.
Their Fettuccine Alfedo is a generous portion and ok, but the sauce seemed to have a flour taste. Alfredo sauce doesn't have flour in it so it was weird, but still ok.
One main drawback was you may end up sitting right next to the ladies restroom. I mean close enough so you can hear what is going on and ladies coming out have to be careful to not hit your chair.
A huge plus is they bring your own pitcher of water so you don't run out and same with the coffee. 😊
Overall, we would recommend Riverside Family Restaurant.

The meatloaf is absolutely disgusting. Looks like the meat came from a can no flavor besides the gravy that was way too salty. Booth tables are also way too small they have everything on the table taking up too much space. Overall was not a good experience should have gone somewhere else.

Traveling through and this place is a delicious gem! Haven't had food or service like theirs in a long time. Large portions, huge amount of fresh whipped cream and tons of strawberries on a huge waffle. Never seen a table so well stocked. Water, glasses, wrapped utensils, and coffee/cups already at the table. Jam holder was full and even had apple butter, haha! Idk, weird things to notice but little things like these are less common. Employees were happy and chatting with repeat customers. Being from the Twin Cities, finding inexpensive and delicious food with cheery service in a spotless restaurant is a rarity. Man, I sound old.

Our 5 star review has changed to a 0 but I had to chose a 1. We had a very snotty disrespectful waitress. People were coming in after us & getting menus. My husband asked politely if we could get a menu. She came back & tossed the menus on the table with a huge attitude. It took awhile for her to come back & take our order. There were 2 waitresses & only 7 people in the restaurant. Then our food was sitting up on counter for 5 min as both waitresses walked by & saw the food sitting up there & just ignored it. Then 5 min later the waitress with the attitude came & cleaned off a table by us instead of getting us our food. She looked at us purposely at the same time with her hand over her face & pointing to the other waitress. My husband asked her if we could have our food & that it was just sitting up there (even the cook kept looking at it). She snapped at my husband 'it just came out'. He said it's been sitting up there for 5 min. She told us we were being disrespectful & could leave. We did nothing wrong & NEVER disrespected her. We got up & left & my husband said to her you were disrespectful to us. I told her she does not deserve to be a waitress with her snotty attitude. P.S. she was socializing with a guy for awhile & with others while our food was sitting up there. We have been coming here from many years on our vacations & this is the most distasteful experience we ever had anywhere. The other waitresses we have had here in the past were all polite & friendly. This waitress needs training on how to treat customers & control her anger & attitude. This is sad because we always enjoyed coming here for the good food & service. We even brought several family & friends here as well. I forgot to mention this waitress also gave us a used carafe of coffee that was sitting on another empty table instead of a fresh one with very little in it & not hot. We never said a word & should have. This is how she treated us from the beginning.

This place has the best Midwest wait staff. They are polite, and prompt, appropriately interact with children, patient, and just the right amount of sass/quick-witted. As far as the food goes, what follows is this os only opinion of flavor and variety. I have never had anything under cooked, or burnt.

The breakfast burrito is the best thing to order. I feel the omelets are a bit lacking in flavor, as well as most, not all, skillets. I cannot speak to custom orders or the oatmeal, but I also like their country fried steak.

Update (2023): Still awesome food and the service was phenomenal - Michelle was just the best! So glad we had her as a server! Also, the Big Cheese Burger was one of the best cheeseburgers my dad had ever had, and my chicken sandwich (the one with Swiss cheese) was so tasty! Seriously, everything we've had here has been amazing! Come here!!
