I have purchased 1,000+ pasties from this place over the years. I visited on May 27, 2025 while on my way back to Milwaukee from Up North. I was told this establishment no longer accepts credit or debit cards; "was that a problem" for me? "The credit card company was screwing me." I told him I don't ever carry much cash and didn't have enough on me to pay for the sizable quantity I intended to purchase. He suggested I visit the gas station down the road, which has an ATM. I told him he had lost my business.
He made a short-sighted poor decision. Cards encourage customers to buy more of his product and make impulse purchases. Card fees are a cost of doing business. How about Stripe or Venmo? Plus he can cheat even more on his taxes since cash doesn't leave a trail.
So just be aware to bring cash and patience to deal with this person as he systematically destroys his business with decisions and attitude.

For starters, "cafe" is a misleading title as no food is made ready to eat, the pasties are reheatable. I've never been to an establishment this inhospitable; the air reeks of cigarette smoke, you can't sit on most of the chairs, and the owner seems to actively want you out of the store.
The chicken pot pie pasty was fine, I wouldn't get it again but it was tastier than I expected. The gimmick of rocks with googly eyes would be more endearing if they didn't take priority seating over the customers.

We spent quite a bit just looking at the inside. It's buy and take/ cook at home. But the artwork is funny. That alone is worth the stop. Pasties are great.

I wanted to like it. I really really did. Who wouldn't want to like a quirky shop by the side of the road in northern Wisconsin with a hand painted sign advertising pasties. In the first instance, Rocks for Fun Café can't really be called a cafe, as you can't eat there but can only buy frozen pasties. Having read some of the other Google Map reviews about the texture being rubbery, I decided to give the pasties their best shot by heating them in the oven rather than microwaving them as instructed. I wish I could say I loved them but unfortunately, we were disappointed. I have to agree with others who say these are not traditional pasties. The dough is not flaky but rather more bready and overly sweet and we didn't love the seasonings, though we preferred the chicken and vegetables to the meat pie. The only upside is that I am inspired to make my own.

Neat place, nice enough guy working when i was there, im pretty sure he was the owner.
I have had a lot of pastys from a lot of places and this does not match up with what i consider a traditional pasty.
I suggest you try before you stock up.

So I’m very dissatisfied. I know this is a family outfit and I always want to support local and I love pasty’s!!! Like really love pasty’s……
I’ve been eating them since I was a kid I’m 52 now. ( my family’s from the U.P)
The pasty was shaped weird. The directions to warm them up was to microwave them because they only sell frozen ones. (I’m thinking after trying to eat one it’s because they don’t want you to know how bad they are in there face) the crust is wrong, the filling is flavorless and as you can see in the picture it’s just about un edible.
We ended up here because we are visiting friends in Green Bay and they were about the only option unless we drove to iron mountain.(We should have!!!) I would not recommend going here unless they post that they have seriously changed how these so called pasty’s are prepared.
I welcome any feedback from this owner and honestly would like a refund for the ones I bought. That’s how bad they are.

i would give jim 10 stars if i could, not only did he open for us over an hour after closing, but he told us wonderful stories of his father and all his rock art creations. he absolutely went above and beyond for us. all of the art had us smiling, laughing, and so happy! and the pasties are so delicious! we picked out 6 different flavors and every single one was absolutely delightful! Jim is such a wonderful person and it was such a blessing to get to see all that Rocks for Fun Cafe has! I genuinely hope to be able to come back to again!

What an amazing place! Jim is the kindest friendliest man I've ever met, I wish I could've met his Dad. There are many creations that are designed just to bring a smile to your face. Everything he's done is to make the world a happier place and I believe he accomplished this in spades. If you are a 'True Scotsman' I guess the pasties don't cut it. But for the rest of us they are a delicious treat that excites the palate and reminds of the great treasure that Rocks For Fun Cafe is

Cool little place. But being a true yooper the Patty's not a true pasty. The use more of a pizza crust than a pie crust and their 21 herbs and spices in them not so good.

My friends and I stopped at Rocks for Fun cafe while on a long trip through Wisconsin from the Ottawa national forest. We had empty stomachs and pasty’s were on our mind. Good thing we stumbled upon the Rocks for Fun Cafe!!!!!!!!
Along with an amazing display of fun, wacky, clever rock art you are met with the largest variety of pasty’s I’ve seen. Creative flavors, friendly faces and silly rocks are the passions behind R4F cafe. We will be back!

We love to stop here and buy Pasty's for our friends back home. They have many varieties, like none I've ever found anywhere else. The owner is an elderly man that has a great sense of humor and you can tell how much He loves people and likes to make them happy. He loves rocks and is very creative, too. It's a neat little place to stop for a very unique visit. His pasty's are pre-made and then frozen. He no longer runs the little resteraunt, but they're great to take home to heat up for breakfast. Lunch, and/or dinner. Some flavors are; Corned Beef Hash, Bacon-egg-cheese, Ham-egg-cheese, Corned Beef-sauerkraut-swiss cheese, lobster, shrimp, and many more. He's located right on HWY 45 in the little town of Tigerton. Enjoy!

Been here a couple of times now and as cool as this place could be, the owners are a little over bearing. They have the fun rock decor, but he really just wants you to spend $$ on his pasties and get on your way. A lot of the "Store" is closed off and you can't really look around anyway. The pasty's themselves are fine, but we sell several "Authentic" ones by small places in our local grocery store at half the price that taste just a good. Think I'll stick with those and not go for the high pressure sell.

A real gem in central Wisconsin! These are definitely not traditional pasties (The menu calls them "Rockin Pockets"). Having said as much, whatever they are, they are delicious! The crust is the best part, loads of lip-licking flavor! The owner is a real hoot too, I work on the freighters on the Great Lakes and his father did too so we shared lots of stories and jokes!

Arrived on a large cruising motorcycle 40 minutes before closing. The woman Inside seemed very annoyed that we were there. She seemed to want to push us out the door, she informed us that we could only buy Frozen pasties to go despite the web listing saying that they could be heated via microwave. She almost pushed us out the door slammed it behind us and then put up a sign that said "shut" ( I guess that means closed). We don't look like bad people, but she was extremely rude. Never got to see what the food tasted like, never will either.

Super happy we unexpectedly found this place. The owner was beyond nice. The rocks were fun to look at. Unfortunately they don't have any hot pastys or on demand....only frozen. We were not able to try them because we did not have a way to keep them frozen. They looked delicious though and so many varieties.

Don't go here unless you are GOING to buy pasties, NOW. Came in wanting to buy some on a road trip and let the kids look at the rock sculptures. Employees basically wouldn't leave us alone to look at the menu, kept hovering, asking us questions, trying to badger us into making a decision and buying something right now. Would have been nice if we had two seconds to decide. Instead we just left with nothing :( Those would have been good on our trip, but the vibe in the shop was creepy af.

Talk about a variety! This place is located on Hwy. 45 in Tigerton, Wi. The people are excellent entrepreneurs & a big business out of a little building. The bigger the order, the more time they'd like to get your order together. It is a popular place for truckers & they purchase 2 or 300 dollars at a time. You can dine there if you wish or take out as well. It is the best compition for "Pasties" this side of Upper Michigan. Enjoy!

I went several years ago, as a kid. The owner gave me the 'tour' of some of the most fun rocks, complete with a few gags thrown in for fun. The pasties were perfect, although others from the Upper Peninsula say they aren't authentic. To me, it doesn't matter. The food is great, the experience is fun, and it's definitely worthwhile to stop by.
