There’s a reason this place is shutting down. Food was overpriced and quality was subpar. $60 worth of filler, could have gone to a fast food chain and gotten the same if not slightly better food for half the price.

Dinner was $81.00 for 2 people. I was disappointed that we ardered cherry crisp and it was actually a flat bread. It didn't indicate that on the menu or blackboard. Neither of us liked it. I told the waitress and she too didn't know it was a flat bread. We sent it back and they refused to refund it. I didn't argue, I just won't go back or recommend it. Mama T's in Elkhorn WI is a way better option.

Such an amazing establishment, the atmosphere is second to none in the area. It has such a cozy and comfortable feel in the space and it's a great place to meet up with friends or family. The drinks are top notch and the food is always fresh and delicious. My wife and I have been coming since they opened and will continue to frequent time and time again ❤️. We took a trip to Elkhorn for the flea market, originally from Milwaukee. I would come back. Roots and Rocks has an incredible atmosphere and the vibe is the perfect mix between small town appreciation and refinery. The cocktails are inventive and the food is creative. The service was polite, considerate, and made the overall experience really come together. I am hoping this place receives a lot of love from Elkhorn and the community. It's truly special.

Great little place that we can't believe we checked out before, and its soo close to home. The wonton roll things were amazing. My chicken sandwich was very good and my wife enjoyed her quesadilla. Oh and the drinks were absolutely fantastic. We'll definitely be back

It was my first time here, last Friday night.

I had only just noticed it about 3 weeks ago, but I never investigated until now.

I was hungry when I saw a menu sign out in front of the place as I was driving away from visiting a bar across the street.

I floored my truck and did a super cool, screeching tires, "Fast n Furious" style u-turn, and pulled up in front of the place! (kidding about the reckless driving part)
If you blink, you might miss it as you drive down Wisconsin Street in Elkhorn.
It's kind of "nondescript" and doesn't exactly scream, "Look over here! We have delicious food, libations and a super chill atmosphere for you to enjoy!"

Apparently, it works for them.
They've been in this location for a few years already, so maybe they don't need to be big and flashy. I'm just sorry that I didn't know of Roots & Rocks until now.

Even though it's only my first time here, I really wish there were 10 stars to give.

The atmosphere has a warm and inviting vibe. High ceilings and dim lighting chill your soul to level "Mello".

There's a plethora of hand crafted art pieces hanging everywhere that will keep your eyes entertained throughout your visit here.
Some of which are available for sale, as well.
There's only 1 television behind the bar too. So, if you're looking for a night out for cheap beers with your loud "sports" peeps, this isn't your place. 😁

The vibe also gives a feeling that it would be a great place for a relaxing "date night" with your significant other.

There's a full bar with a decent liquor selection and some choice crafted cocktails available.

So let's talk food.
The menu is simply done. Heavy craft paper held together by a piece of straw string. Nothing fancy, just natural feeling.

The print was a little small for this dimly lit place, but I'll bring my readers next time.

It's naturally focused on fresh ingredients and, as they put it, "..bringing a contemporary twist to the classics we all love".
To the taste buds, "fresh" really does make a difference.

I ordered the smash burger with bacon and Havarti cheese. They had my heart at Havarti! It's one of my all time favorites.
This is a cheese option that you don't see at many places. The smooth, creamy havarti marries the fresh ground beef together in a loving union of harmony.

Let's talk bacon.
I had to break a little bit off at first to see how it was.
It was crispy and flat. Just how I like it. But it wasn't tough and crunchy in your mouth. It almost melted on your tongue, but still let you know that it was bacon.
Not to go overboard, but it was magical!

For my side, I chose the tater tots.
I was a little apprehensive at first because they aren't exactly my favorite thing to eat. The tots that I'm typically exposed to are the over fried and over flavored with oil kinda tots.
Not here!

They had a crisp outside and a warm, tender potato center as you bit into them. No deep fried oily taste. Perfection, in my opinion.
The portion size could have been a little better on the tots, but i'm not complaining.

I didn't have dessert, but there was something on a sign called "Death by chocolate". Cake or....? I honestly don't remember, but we must try it!

Pricing. It's on the slightly higher side of life, but worth every delicious penny they charge!
Of course, the service was top-notch, charming, and friendly.

If you're looking for a real "hidden gem", this is the place you're looking for!

You can tell that they love what they do here, and it shows.
I highly recommend checking this place out. A great experience overall!

I'll definitely be back soon to sample something else from their menu.

I was in Elkhorn for a work trip and my two colleagues and I went to Roots & Rocks four nights in a row because we loved it so much! Delightful service and delicious food. We particularly enjoyed the Shepherd’s pie and chicken pot pie. Thank you for a wonderful experience! Will definitely go back if I pass through again.

Ordered the meatloaf spheres to go, When I opened then there were only two and some crumbled meat as the thiird one. Not even close to the online menu description.

Also the online menu said mashed potatoes and gravy, we ordered at 5 pm and they were out of Mashed potatoes and was told I must be looking at an old menu as they do not have gravey.. guess my error in thinking the online menu was kept up to date.

What a great place. Comfortable environment to kick back, relax and enjoy some great food, craft cocktails or craft beer. My favorite is the avacado toast appetizer. Crusty sourdough bread, avocados and roasted tomatoes on top. Delicious! Had a black raspberry lemonade today, made with fresh berries! Wonderful salads and flatbreads as well. My new favorite go-to place.
