Worst experience this past weekend. We have been customers of this place for over 20 years and have never had an experience like this weekend.
We ordered 2 cheese omelets, one with ham and one with bacon, and an additional side of hollandaise. This was a pick up order to go and at pickup, the employee told my partner that one omelet was missing the bacon and asked if he was fine to take just a cheese omelet....he said that would be fine. When we got home, neither omelet had meat in it and when I called to see about a fix for this, the employee was rude and extremely argumentative with me? ("well, I told that guy that we would make a new one and he said no, so what do you want me to do about it?"). Our bill was $36 and no one could explain to me how our bill was this much. One staff even did the math...$11 per cheese omelet, $4 something for hollandaise and $0.75 for the to-go boxes (that's only $27.50, so how did my bill add up to $36??). I assume we were charged for the additional meat that we did not get, and staff was obviously aware of this! The price that we were charges for an incorrect meal is insane!
When I reached out via FB, the manager/owner/FB page manager let me know that I would need to provide proof that our meals were missing the meat in order to fix the issue 😂.

We will never return to this restaurant. What a sham and a shame.

The food at The Café was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish we tried was excellent, and I would definitely come back again for the food alone. The service, however, felt a little rigid. Our waitress was polite and professional, but she stuck strictly to the basics and wasn’t very engaging. I felt like she could have been more attentive and helpful in guiding us through the menu or checking in. Overall, a great place to eat, but the service could be warmer to match the quality of the food.

Wonderful little diner that was recommended to me. Arrived at the restaurant and quickly sat down and was served with little to no wait. Outside. Setting was very comfortable. Temperature was perfect. Had a server. Don't remember her name. She was a brunette. Very nice. Very kind. Very quick. Checked on me frequently and always felt take n care of. She was very efficient. Made me very comfortable even though that was the first time I was there. Wonderful food. Would definitely go back when I'm back in the area.

Went to breakfast on Sunday with my partner and ordered the potato skillet. Eggs and toast were cooked perfectly, but the hashbrowns and pieces of bacon were burnt black. When the server came by to check on our meal I told her that I couldn’t eat most of it, there was a 1/3 portion of the dish where the cheese hadn’t burned to a crisp so I was picking at that. She apologized and said she would take it off the bill, but after she popped away to speak to her manager I assume, she came back and said all she was allowed to take off was $1 because I had eaten part of the dish. I’m a server myself so I understand not giving free food so someone who ate their meal, but giving a dollar off to someone who had a burnt dish and ate, maybe five bites of it at the most, is a complete slap in the face. I won’t be back, there are many other breakfast restaurants in lacrosse that serve great food at decent prices. Paying $15 for something I couldn’t eat is not worth it. My boyfriend ordered eggs and bacon and was cooked perfectly.

Not from Lacross so we went because of the reviews. Walked in and was immediately chastised for the cup of coffee that I got from the hotel shop. I told her that she could charge me for a cup if I could keep mine. Snarky comment "Well I hope the health dept doesn't come in today". After 7 minutes same waitress finally brought us menus . After another 5 finally took our order. 20 minutes later food finally came out. It was ok at best. Too much grease. Didn't eat the hash browns because of this. Got the check and was charged for the cup of coffee. I guess I asked for it. Ended up taking it off of her tip. Unfortunately won't go back.

food was great… for the two bites they let me eat before throwing it away, and then trying to make me pay for it. got up to use the ATM, as i had found out they don’t take card. said ATM is right next to my table. i got up, pulled off cash to be ready to pay, and turned around to the busser walking away with our full plates. genuinely all within like three minutes. he apologized profusely, and i was even going to still pay, until the manager said “well that’s on you for being all over the place.” i’ve been a server for over 4 years. the wildest thing i’ve seen at a restaurant. beyond disrespectful, and the only person who apologized was the busser. another customer even got angry and left after seeing the altercation.

My dad used to love this place decades ago so I finally got there to try it. Patty Melt was good, fries were also tasty......the potato vegetable soup however was awful....I wouldnt wish that taste on anyone. Waitress never came back either. She tried the Philly Sandwich and was disappointed....chopped meat burger instead of shaved meat as it should be. Overall it was just ok......it really didnt make us want to come back, but I will so i can try their breakfast.

I ordered an omelette that was supposed to have hollandaise sauce on it. Their hollondaise did not seem to have butter, lemon juice or egg yolk as ingredients-the classic hollondaise. Was awful and did not help the over cooked dry omelette. Toast was cold and no butter, margarine instead. Coffee was so-so. Will not return. The clever atmosphere is not worth the price or the disappointment. I’ve had better breakfasts at Waffle House for less.

5 Stars for Rosie’s Café – A Hidden Gem Worth the Detour!

While driving home from Rochester, Minnesota to West Michigan, we were on the hunt for a great local breakfast spot — something with character, not just another national chain. That’s when we found Rosie’s Café, and let me tell you, it was worth every mile of the detour.

Located just outside of town in a quiet neighborhood, Rosie’s is small, charming, and absolutely packed — a sure sign that locals know what’s up. We actually missed our exit and had to backtrack through town about five miles, but it gave us a chance to see the area and build anticipation.

When we arrived, the place was buzzing. It's not a huge space, so there isn’t much room to wait inside, and the communication on whether to seat ourselves or wait could have been clearer. That said, the staff was friendly and handled the crowd like pros. We were seated within 10–15 minutes, which flew by.

Once seated, we were greeted quickly and warmly. The menu had tons of great options — everything from classic breakfasts to local favorites. We had a few questions and custom requests, and our server was super accommodating. Despite how busy it was, the service was attentive and upbeat.

The food? Hot, hearty, and absolutely delicious. Generous portions, great presentation, and flavors that made it clear everything was made with care. We left full and happy, no question about that.

One highlight? Their homemade cinnamon rolls with house-made icing — you can take a half dozen to go for under $17. Of course, I grabbed six… and asked for one extra with icing on top for the road. No regrets.

Rosie’s Café is a small-town treasure with big flavor and genuine hospitality. If you’re ever passing through this stretch of Wisconsin, make the stop — it’s worth it.

Thanks, Rosie’s! We’ll definitely be back.

CASH ONLY: Went there for breakfast/lunch. It was meh. It's a small place which is fine. It's just chaotic. Our waitress was MIA. They burnt sausage, pancakes and scrambled eggs. The burger was ok . They toasted the bun which was nice.
I should have know it might be eh when the people next to us ate half their food and then left. Not usually a good sign.
While we didn't order coffee we did have water. Which sometimes you want refilled. This is where a missing waitress comes in.
The coziness is fine. Except when the guy next to you keeps coughing and coughing and coughing.
We parked on the side of the building next to a factory.
It's cash or local check only.

My husband and I heard great things about Rosie’s, but based on our experience, I think things have really gone downhill here. The service was slow. The coffee had what appeared to be pieces of cardboard floating in it, and the server did not seem pleased when we asked for new cups. We received margarine instead of butter. The syrup was tasteless—maybe watered down? The toast was very burned. The rest of the food was fine, but not equivalent to what we can get for much cheaper elsewhere. We will definitely not be back. Very disappointing, especially given how well this restaurant seems to rate.

Very disappointing breakfast experience at Rosie's.. My husband's $3 coffee was visibly watery and he said that his first cup was lukewarm..he said that he has had better coffee from a gas station. Husband said that his sausage and gravy mixture was good but that it was served on a hard biscuit and the 2 eggs on top were rubbery ($15.50). I wanted a light meal so ordered 2 eggs and a side of rye toast off of their A La Cart menu. The toast was very good, homemade marble rye. The eggs were prepared correctly;however, the A La Cart menu listed each egg at $2. Our itemized receipt listed $5 for 2 eggs and $3 for the toast. When the waitress asked how our meal was, I let her know about my husband's watery coffee. She brought more watery coffee for him...but he said that at least it was hot. When I asked why she charged $5 for two $2 eggs, she said that she did that because they had an actual meal that sold them for that price. To be clear, we have no problem paying for a good meal and my husband usually tips between 25 and 30%. We didn't care for the meal, the price or the waitress' attitude and left a 10% tip.

Rosie's is a small, traditional diner. We both shared a cinnamon roll which was nicely sweet and the dough was very soft. This was very good and the best thing we had - 5/5 stars for that hands down. We also ordered "The Deuce" which consists of 2 eggs, 2 bacon or sausage, 2 pancakes, and toast. Respectfully, all of those were very average and didn't deliver anything special. The bacon was crispy, the pancakes slightly undercooked, and my sunny side up eggs had nice big yolks. The place is noticeably small, with several would-be patrons deciding to leave because there was no available tables. Also, there's a table in the back that is specifically for parties of 5 only....I don't believe there's a sign on that table because numerous groups of 3-4 people tried sitting there, only to be promptly moved by a server (or just ended up leaving the restaurant). They have a patio but it wasn't open due to forecasted rain. The patio is dog friendly.

Girls weekend in LaCrosse. Asked our server at a pizzeria on Saturday night for a recommendation for breakfast on Sunday morning. He recommended Rosie's. Old fashioned diner that does a brisk breakfast trade on weekends. Food was good, coffee was excellent and service was friendly and attentive. The pancakes were tinted green (we were there on St Patrick's Day) and were light and fluffy. I like a pancake that's heavier so these were a miss for me but their breakfast sausages and marbled bread toast were exceptional.

Food was good, Denver omlet was a little undone, good hash browns, toast. Cook knew how to make basted eggs. Service was excellent, surroundings are plain but homey. A very good place 4.5

Best place to eat ever. If you ask my kids where they want to eat they will say Rosie's EVERYTIME. I have never had anything bad. You will never regret eating at Rosie's. 💜💜💜💜

First time visiting here and was pleasantly surprised. We were met by very friendly servers, the orders were served quickly and SOOOOOO good. Pancakes, sausage links, omelets, skillets, ALL of it was great and so was the entire experience. We'll be back the next time we're in the area!

This is my favorite breakfast spot. I try to eat myself in Sandy's section. She is amazing! Good food, good prices, and a friendly atmosphere keep me coming back. Sometimes, it can feel a little dim, but nothing that really causes a problem. If you get a chance, check them out! Daily specials are also wonderful!

Everything was wonderful. Couple downfalls. Prices where not on the menu. And they were hirer then expected. And they only take cash.

Cold gravy on the biscuits and gravy. Poor service. Used to love this place. Not sure what happened.

Great food and portions ... as good as you are going to get for a home cooked style meal at a traditional cafe restaurant. Pleasant atmosphere with a full range of choices at reasonable prices.

My favorite breakfast place in La Crosse, the service is always prompt, professional and friendly. The food is always good and served quickly even though it’s always busy. It is a true Classic Diner experience.
