Haven't eaten at Royal Buffet for a while but the only thing that was hot that I was able to get in the buffet was the General Tao's chicken the only thing that was steaming in the buffet everything else was lukewarm. I contemplated on taking my dinner to go before I walked in but I wanted hot food so I figured I'd eat it there. But to my surprise most of my food was lukewarm the egg roll was hard because it was so cold. I asked the table next to me if they thought their food wasn't hot. They Shrugged their shoulders and said well it's not going to burn your mouth that's for sure. It was pretty cold. I went up to talk to the people that work there and they said well it's the time it's not busy right now. I said ma'am it is 6:00 p.m. that is dinner time I was there between 5:30 and 6:00 to start my meal and I left at 6:00 p.m. so apparently if they aren't busy their food is not going to be hot or fresh and her response was because it's not busy that's why it's not hot and fresh hot and fresh meal that I need to go to a sit-down restaurant, not a buffet this is the response I got from the lady who works there at the front counter taking money I don't find that to be very professional of a response I feel that she is suggesting me to go elsewhere, and so I guess I will

My sweet and sour chicken was overcooked and dry.
The veggies they included were raw... Included two little pieces of onion and a couple wedges of green pepper.
Sorry to say it was the worst food we've ever gotten from there and we freaked out there often. Not sure what has changed.
Our guests always gets the same thing and she only had two pieces of shrimp versus having many pieces in her particular favorite dish. She also was disappointed.

Great food at reasonable price have a choice of a lot of things on the buffet... And they have a menu option if you are a vegetarian or something there's a few different things you can choose from I mean a few main dishes. Plus few appetizer did it should send dessert dishes that would be vegetarian also friendly service... I always order off the menu cuz I am a vegetarian and I like to get the bean curd tofu with stir-fried vegetables in a brown sauce with a side of vegetable fried rice and my wife gets the buffet... Two people one-off menu and one buffet and come still like 26 something that's not bad during bidenomics!

My husband and I come here often. Food is good and service is just as good. Only thing I have to say has to do with the handicap parking. The last 2 times I have come to the buffet I have to use a wheelchair due to a recent surgery. The parking lot needs to be repainted. Both times when we were there, someone was parked in the van accessible area, not the handicap spot but the spot that should have the lines on it next to the handicap spot. Their car blocked the wheelchair access which made it hard for me to get on the sidewalk. This needs to be addressed please.

So a couple nights ago, my wife and I strolled into The Royal Buffet, the kind of place where stretchy pants are encouraged, and the plates stack higher than your life choices. From the outside, it’s got that classic “y’all ready to eat yourselves into a coma?” energy. Inside? Worn-out seats that scream generational loyalty—you just know people have been bringing their families here since the Clinton administration. And hey, any restaurant with cracked booths and that many stories embedded in the cushions is usually doing something right.

We sat down, grabbed our first plates, and went to work. Between the two of us, we probably did more damage to the buffet line than a Black Friday sale. I personally made it through six full plates of Chinese food like a champion who forgot he had limits.

Shrimp and chicken dishes? Clutch. You could tell they’ve been fine-tuned to keep people coming back.

Peanut chicken? Let me stop you right there. That thing was a war crime. Tasted like someone marinated chicken in regret and bath soap.

Got there at 3:28, she charged us dinner prices and refused to give our money back and yelled at us across the restaurant sitting there eating her food even though I said I had proof what time we got there and it was before 3:30. She didn’t care and was so snarky and rude even before I politely asked her why she charged us dinner prices confused why she would do that to her customers and cheat them. Terrible service, food was mediocre and not one smile or good manners and then yelled at us while she just sat there eating. The old owner a male was so incredible and went above and beyond while so polite and always smiling and laughing and attentive even knew us by name years ago when we came and it was only e wry couple months. So disappointed, basically she robbed us and cheated us over charging and lying what time we got there. Look at the app, got there at 3:28 but she didn’t care one but that she cheated us. Sickening and disgusted by people behaving like this to good decent people for no reason. Worst experience ever at a restaurant 100 percent. The food wasn’t really good. The lady was trying to scam us. 4 adults and 4 kids don’t equal over $200. She wrote the ticket and when we complained she processed it through the computer. Why would you write it by hand and barely readable. And charge $100 more dollars over the original price. You been working here for years, you should be able to count. Like why would you charge that much for left over food you heat back up for later customers. I get it running a business is hard and your overhead might be a lot but you’re gonna go out of business when you scam your customers. You’re not a fine dining restaurant don’t expect to be paid like one.

My wife to be Annette and I (Richard) didn't have a good experience at this establishment. It started when we got seated. I was trying to get my wife to be Annette situated with her wheelchair, when it felt like we were being rushed when we were asked what we would like to drink. There were only about 4 customers there at the time. We went to get our plates at the buffet and sat down to eat. Then it started. Being a person of color I can read when someone is playing the prejudice card. This card was played our whole visit. We were the only table that never got checked to see how we were doing. I had to go get our own extra napkins, and they would go way out of their way to avoid our table. Evil looks were given when they were standing at the register together. When I tried to flag her down to ask for a water for Annette, she wasn't nice when she said that we had to wait. When she arrived with the water that I requested for Annette she placed it in front of me? What is going on here? I explained to my soon to be wife Annette what I was seeing and she also agreed with what I was seeing. Even when I went up to pay our bill the person there didn't speak at all when I handed the bill to them, or make any eye contact with me as a customer. A paying customer. You should never judge a book by it's cover. Especially when it causes customers not to come back. Including Annette and I (Richard).

Honestly food wasn’t too bad, but service was terrible and the waitresses were very rude and talked back. The people there would take food and touch it then throw it back into the tin/food tray, that just may be the people that were there at the time but it was disgusting. I believe food was cross contaminated because the noodles smelt like shrimp and the pork smelt like fish. Food variety also was poor because they didn’t have any fruit or any good vegetable options. One of my family members had gotten a salad and it was honestly the blandest thing I had seen in a Chinese restaurant ever! It’s disappointing because this restaurant has potential and it could grow to be good over time but right now I couldn’t rate it over a 2 star. I hope someone found this helpful and gave them the sense to go to a different Chinese restaurant 🙂.

The food was good… up until we found a hair in the food. My friend went to one of the waitresses and politely let them know about it, and nothing was done or said. Then we let the manager know she said that the long, straight piece of hair belong didn’t belong to them but one of my two short curly haired friends or came from one of my locs. She argued with us about it but decided to change tempo when we asked to see the cameras they said they had, and then still wanted my friend to pay for his meal. Moved to Amery 1.5 years ago. I like Asian buffets! Started out a good place to eat but has slipped a lot! Seafood smells bad, too long out in the open, overall food has been sitting out there all day! Not fresh, and not very good with half of the items empty! Wait staff with lifeless faces and personalities! If your going to go..go for lunch not dinner..even worse after 5 as they try to use up the lunch crowd food. I'm glad I went to the buffet today. Everything tasted really good. I used to go here fairly often years ago when I lived in new Richmond. Their jalepeno chicken was epic. I took my son and his girlfriend out to dinner here. It was relatively busy. The food was good, but the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because they did not stay on top of food items that needed to be refilled in the buffet. It was very warm in the place and would have liked it to be cooler. Sweating while eating is not all that fun. It is a buffet so don't expect a world class meal. Pretty much your basic strip mall Chinese buffet with the basic decor and seating. Ribs were very good but no ice cream machine that many Chinese places have. I got filled up but also some days it is quantity over quality.

First time there, food was ok, a little on the cool side for most of the items that I took. Was asked to wear a mask when at the buffet, fine, no problem. We wear our masks, and then sit down and see other patrons going up without masks... ??? Why wear a mask when we are all touching the same utensils and they are wiping their mouths with those hands and touching everything at the buffet.. it doesn't make any sense to me.
