This was a long anticipated trip from Milwaukee to Madison to try out the famous Ruth’s Chris. I love a good steak and wanted to compare them to one of my favorites, Eddie Martini’s. What a disappointment on every level. We were placed in the back (red) room off the main dining area. We had to request that the manager please turn up the heat in this seemingly forgotten room. Out server was inattentive and our group of four agreed that the experience and food were…..disappointing. I’m glad I tried it, but would be hesitant to recommend.

It’s very consistent with service and amazing food so I would highly recommend and if you’re on a budget then save it for a special holiday and take someone you love. They are handicap friendly you can park there free, and everything is easily accessible and also one last thing.. you don’t always have to go there for dinner by the way they have a great bar and my daughter and I go there sometimes just for an appetizer and a nice drink after work sometimes because the quality of people that go there they’re so nice also, you’ll have a great time Enjoy the delivery by the way is superb. We went for our 5 year anniversary. It was our first time visiting Ruth's Chris. We arrived early for our reservation so we we waited in the bar and had one of the best mojitos and old fashioneds we have ever had (and us wisconsinites take this very seriously!). They seated us early, then our waitress, Kana, told us the specials and was very clear about the menu since we had never been there before. We did not feel rushed in any way through the entire meal. We ordered the porterhouse for two, au gratin potatoes, french onion soup, and lobster. We ordered the steak Oscar (crab cakes, asparagus, and bernaise). It was all perfect, just top notch. The drinks were amazing, the food was tremendous, and the service was beyond phenomenal. They are very thoughtful in their presentation and service. Kana made conversation with us and really made us feel taken care of and that we were important. We had three different people also stop by to ensure we were having a good experience and to say happy anniversary to us. We really had such a wonderful time. We always go to a new place on our anniversary each year, but it was so great we said we may have to go back for our 10 year! A big thanks to Kana and the rest of the staff that made our 5 year anniversary the best one we've had and the best meal we've ever had!

We visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed the food. The service was excellent—every staff member was friendly and attentive, which made our experience very pleasant. That said, I do feel that the prices for both the food and drinks are on the higher side. I completely respect that restaurants have their pricing structures, but for me personally, it felt a bit steep. For example, the wine was priced around five times more than what it typically costs in the market. I understand that restaurants usually charge more, but in this case, it seemed a little too much. The same goes for the side of mashed potatoes—$14 for a single portion felt a bit excessive. I noticed similar pricing for the meat, fish, and desserts as well. Overall, it’s a lovely restaurant with great food, but in my personal opinion, the prices are a little high.

Visited Ruth's Chris in Middleton, WI on October 5th for a special birthday celebration. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by inattentive service. We waited nearly 30 minutes before our server even took our drink order, and the lack of attentiveness continued throughout the night, despite reaching out to the manager.

The last time I was at a Ruth’s Chris was at their New Orleans location. When the soup I ordered arrived, our waiter had it immediately replaced because some liquid had splashed on the rim of the bowl. This was totally unnecessary but made me feel as if the entire staff was working very hard to provide an exceptional experience. This is why I was sort of okay with knowing I was going to pay $82 for a ribeye at Ruth’s Chris when I chose the spot for a celebration dinner with my family. At the Middleton location the service was good. The steak was good. The atmosphere was good (and dim). The thing is, you can get good at most steak houses in the Madison area at a fraction of the cost. Everything is so expensive these days. If you’re ready to splurge for an exceptional experience, the Middleton location may not be able to provide the kind of value you deserve for the amount of money you’re going to spend.

Stopped in for a Happy Hour bite. We ordered the filet sandwiches, zucchini fries, Caesar salad, sweet potato casserole, and creamed spinach. All the sides were tasty, but pricey. The filet sandwiches were $17 each, which seemed very reasonable.
Our main issue is with the filet sandwiches, which we ordered medium-rare. The filets were sliced very thin and were juicy. However, every bite had silver skin/gristle/connective tissue that ran through most of the slices, making it an unpleasant sandwich. This was true for two of the three sandwiches. The other one had less inedible bites, but all in all not a good sandwich.

It took a little bit of time to get waited on.
We were there during happy hour so we ordered drinks.
The gift card balances were confirmed so we stayed for a meal. They had a special filet/shrimp/wine special that was only good in the bar area so we sat in a booth in the bar. We each ordered that plus shared a tuna appetizer. The appetizer had eight slices and a nice spicy ginger salad and sauce. The three shrimp were very good and the steak was the best I have ever had. (Berns steakhouse in Florida and III Forks in Texas were my prior favorite steaks.) I like my steaks very rare and it was so tender and delicious. I didn't take any home as leftovers. The rosé wine was okay. My happy hour drink (pomegranate Martini) was better.
I personally thought it was rather dark in the establishment but once I mentioned something the staff brought over an additional light for me.
We were apprehensive about going to this place because we saw online how expensive the steaks were and how you had to pay extra for potatoes and salads. But we'd definitely go back and do the bar-only happy hour special again. Just enough food.

However, the night took an unfortunate turn when the manager stopped by our table. While I appreciate the gesture of acknowledging my birthday, I was shocked and offended when he guessed my age—and guessed 10 years older than I actually am! As he saw the shock on my face, he continued his guessing game at my age. I repeatedly asked him to just leave our table and he would not, he continued to make it worse through more insensitive remarks about age. His comment was not only inappropriate but also showed a lack of sensitivity and professionalism.

It's disappointing that such a wonderful evening was marred by this unnecessary and hurtful remark. I hope the management will take this feedback seriously and ensure that their interactions with customers are more thoughtful in the future. This man shouldn't be allowed to talk to people, much less represent your establishment.

Despite this, I want to highlight the outstanding service we received from our server, who truly made the night special. Thank you for a mostly wonderful dining experience.

This was a very good dinner. They first served bread with butter. Nothing mind-blowing, but was still good. For the meal itself, I got the combo which included a Caesar salad, steak, shrimp, potatoes and a dessert. The steak was cooked perfectly and I love that they plate comes out hot to keep the steak warm. I also really liked the potatoes as they were very flavorful and fluffy. It was a good dinner night out with family .... And a good steak. RC did not disappoint. Our server was outstanding. The meals were all just great-tasting. The calamari was amazing! Some of the best I’ve ever had. The sides were all packed with flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed my peppercorn encrusted filet. My wife's filet was a bit overcooked. They resolved the issue, promptly presenting her with a new filet. The manager also stopped by our table, expressed his concern about her steak.
Overall, we had a wonderful dinner experience. Sitting by the fire on a winter day also added to it. There are several steak places around, but a few with this perfect atmosphere. Definitely, worthy of future dinners.

Lesbian Couple here. It was very nice to be able to celebrate my wife's birthday in such a nice establishment, without harassment. My wife of 21 years and I felt safe, no weird staring, or strange heteronormative judgement. We def will be back and will tell the LGBTQ+ community!

Ruth's Chris is a high end steak joint where you order each item a la carte. My husband and I visited this restaurant for the Marine Corps birthday and dropped $450 before tips. We first enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, a ribeye 16oz for each of us, with 4-5 sides to share, 3 drinks each, and two types of desert.
The remoulade was delicious paired with a sip of Jonny Walker Blue.
The base flavor for all the food must be butter as everything is extremely rich and creamy.

Ask for Honee. She did an amazing job answering our questions and keeping the flow going. Signature old fashion was excellent. The brussel sprouts were our least favorite item. ALL other foods were excellent. The sides kind of feed 2 people. Highly recommend a visit.

Great dinner tonight at Ruth's Chris tonight, but the primary reason for this five-star review is for our fantastic server, Young. She was attentive, knowledgeable and attentive to all of our our needs over a three-hour dinner with an old friend and colleague. It is rare to have this caliber of service at any restaurant, and we greatly appreciate Young's commitment to excellence!

We enjoyed live music while dining on the patio which was much quieter and great for hard of hearing. It happened to be perfect weather.

Excellent staff and service. The main server was competent, efficient, and professional. Table runners were timely and quick. Calamari starter was very tasty. My husband enjoyed his steak and I had the stuffed chicken breast. Both very good though it was tough to wait for it to cool down to enjoy. I got the cheesecake. While I generally prefer mine drier or more set, this was an interesting version that was less "set" but very good. The crust was delicious. I could not finish the loaded hash browns for dinner but they where very good reheated the next day.

Didn't know what I was walking into but kept on going. Food was good got plenty of fries which was surprising to the type of restaurant it was. A bit pricey but sometimes you just gotta do it and take in the experience. Maybe I'll do it again some other time since they are spread throughout the US.

Steak was undercooked, the plate it was served on was cold and barely higher than room temperature, and to kick me down some more they even gave me the wrong order. When I brought this up to the staff all I got was an “aww, that’s too bad”. Terrible.

My last review disappeared into the internet somewhere before I finished. So, we were there for our 40th wedding anniversary. My wife's new york strip was excellent. I ordered the ribeye and should have sent it back. It was flavorful and cooked to medium as requested, but the cut of meat was tough and chewy. Not even close to what you expect for $68. Very disappointing. The sides were all very good and they comped a dessert because it was our anniversary. So, a mixed bag to be sure. Next visit will determine if there's a reason to keep going.

Ruth's Chris is a great place to go for a quiet, semi-formal dinner with great food and drink. However, this particular location suffers from a lack of consistency that makes every visit a surprise, and not always in a good way.

My steak, 16 oz. ribeye, was ordered medium rare, which should be a hot pink, warm center. What I got was a steak that was very rare and looked as if it had been seared on each side for thirty seconds. My daughter's steak, which was supposed to be medium, was rarer than mine.

Sometimes you'll be offered a nice steak knife from a case. Sometimes not. Again, very inconsistent.

After paying with a gift card that still had a balance on it the hostess who brought the order out had thrown away the card! She wasn't looking very pleased about digging out from the trash, but she did.

Most of the time the service is amazing. We've had excellent servers and usually have a good time. Just be aware that your experience will vary vastly from experience to experience.

Had always heard wonderful things about this place! Was always very hesitant because it is a little on the pricey side, but I gave it a try a few weeks ago. And I was not impressed, to say the least. The server was very nice ( the best part of the whole thing) skipping forward. I got the spicy shrimp to start, and those were delicious. Followed it with a cowboy ribeye. The cook was good, but there was absolutely no flavor on this steak; not exactly what I expected from a nice steak house. My disappointment followed with a crème brule that had the consistency of tapioca pudding and was almost room temp when it hit the table. Needless to say, for a 300$ bill for 2 people, there should be more care in the plate.

For a high-end stake house (at least price wise), the stakes are pretty bad. There was a lot of food but we could not finish as they were not delicious. Honestly it is the worst among all the high-end stake houses I have been to. I gave it two star because the atmosphere was OK

I have gone to Ruth Chris for both evening diner and for their wine events. The food is always excellent and the service and staff in Middleton Wisconsin are the best, very friendly.
