The people working at this establishment were very kind and hospitable. When we arrived, we were informed that the menu that’s online reflects their other location and not the current location as there were a few things we wanted that they do not serve. We ordered 5 dishes for takeout, 1 of them being duck curry. We didn’t receive any duck in the order at all. What we received was a vegetable red curry with pineapple. We paid $20 for that dish alone. We also ordered the Pad Lad Nar - do not recommend as the dish was soupy and the noodles were soggy. The dishes we did like were the jungle
curry, papaya salad, and mango sticky rice. We also received some sort of deep fried pork belly that we didn’t originally order. Also, only one rice was received with the two curries we ordered. We really wanted to like this place but this is the second disappointing experience.

Very strange. They're open until 9pm, but they immediately tell you the kitchen closes at 830pm. Then they come to take your order and tell you first that you have to pay at 830. Then then interrupt your meal to, for some reason, to pay at 830pm. I don't know if it's a cultural thing or what, but they need to understand that pushing people out from their arrival is rude and bizarre.
In short, they actually close at 830pm, not 9pm. Be prepared to be treated poorly if you're a later customer.

Unfortunately service is seriously lacking. We were seated at 8pm which we thought was ok as they close at 9pm. By 8.30pm they were cleaning our table, requested that we pay our check and told us that the kitchen closes at 8pm....was very uncomfortable and we felt very rushed, we were basically forced out before 8.40pm. Ordered the shrimp dumplings, that look like shrimp dumplings in the picture all tied up. I was sure they were going to be steamed. They don't use the word fried or crispy, they just say served golden brown. Not a euphemism I was expecting. I also ordered the honey duck. It is supposed to come with basil, peppers, and mushrooms. So glad we chose this restaurant to try. Delicious! One member of our party was vegetarian and had no problem selecting a dish from the vast menu. Staff was very helpful, pointed out local and personal favorites and made suggestions of things to try. We went for dinner last night and ordered a few dishes. Food we ordered was amazing, but the service was very crappy.
1. When they got us appetizers, we requested chillie sauce, but they didn't get it. When serving the main course, we again reminded but, still she didn't get it. Eventually, one of us had to get up to reach out to the waitress to request the chillie sauce for 3rd time before we got the sauce. Usually, sauce bottles are kept on the tables, but that wasn't the case
2. Apart from that, we ordered Soup, wishing to have something hot (instead of tea) which they never served us. Only towards the end, we realized.
3. With our food order, we also placed a to-go order. However, they started preparing it after we paid and ready to leave, and we had to wait for a while.
4. Usually, when taking orders, they should have asked if we wanted brown or white riice, but they did not, When taking the delivery, we realized and requested brown rice. God knows what, though there were only 3 more customer tables they were serving, they again made us wait for soooo.. long.
In spite of all the mistakes, the waitress was not apologetic. Instead, the waitress was rude and blamed us for hurrying and speaking to us very harshly. This waitress is a young girl, hoping the owner provides some training to her on customer service.

From the moment we walked in, no one to greet us. Then the server was very inattentive and too busy talking to one of the guests to give us the menus that we resorted to looking at the menu through online through the Google app. The food after that was horrendous. The jungle curry smelled disgusting. It smelled like morning breath, I kid you not. It smelled like someone was already eating it before us. The salad also smelled disgusting as if someone had been either spitting or eating it before me. And lastly I was given a used spoon which really just horrified me. The first time I walked into this location, the worker saw us and said "What do you want?". It was a rather rude way of asking us to dine in or if we're taking out. I figured maybe they're having a bad day and brushed it off and answered that we were dining in. They then seated us and walked away.

Another person came in looking for their party and the same server went to them and was rude in how they were supporting this individual. She stated how there clearly were no parties (of the size they mentioned) here and pointed to the seating/tabling area and proceeded to say they're at the wrong location. Before the customer could ask for anything else, the server walked away.

After my experience and then seeing this interaction, I left without ordering anything.

Giving zero stars. The person at the reception is so rude and unprofessional. We went 2 times before to this location. We went 2 times before 8 am. One time we went at 7.30 PM and one time around 7.35 PM.Because their service is very poor and food comes always late to the table( almost after one hour). Today the person at reception rudely said I know you guys you always come late and our kitchen closes at 8.30 PM.We said we never came late before. She did not greet us or take us to the table. 2024-02-18 update
In general the food was good. The salmon smelled off and our guest asked to send it back. The waitress called the owner who refused to remove it from the bill because it was expensive and popular (despite smelling off). We replaced it with a wide rice noodle dish, but they charged us the higher amount for the salmon. I’ve never seen such behavior by a restaurant owner before and felt it was penny wise and pound foolish and very disrespectful of customers.

Our other dishes were OK. The wide rice noodles were neither crispy nor firm - but not too soggy.

We drove by this strip mall restaurant for 22 years!! We had no idea is would be so great! Good portion sizes, just the right amount of Thai heat (level 2, careful). Loved the red curry dish #45 Gaeng Kua! We will be back.

This place was really great a few years ago, went through a rough patch right before the pandemic, but we've been there a few times this year (2023) and now it's back to how it was before. Even better, actually. The food is always great, and it comes out in a reasonable amount of time, but it usually takes a really long time to get your check once you're done. However, the servers are super nice and I think they might be understaffed so I don't mind. If you come here, definitely try these dishes: Lime Chicken, Phed Pad Khing, Crispy Duck, Kao Pad Karee, Bamee Chao Nue - these are our favorites after years of eating here. The appetizers are good too, try the Summer Rolls, Egg/Spring Rolls, and Crab Rangoons.

First: as other people said, the curries are really good. However, I would say the dining experience and communication in general could be improved. We left another restaurant before coming here because they said the wait would be an hour, which is totally fine - I’m happy they had that much business. However, after being seated at Sa-Bai Thong, it took probably about 75 to be brought our food. I totally get that sometimes restaurants get busy, but I thought it was kind of thoughtless of them to not mentioned that they were slammed.

For the food itself, the curry was good. The stir fry noodle dish was not very good, though - the noodles were almost mealy, and the dish as a whole wasn’t super great. The service was generally fine - everyone was clearly in a rush, and one of the waitresses promised something, then didn’t follow through - but again, there is only so much you can do when you are busy. I would say maybe give this restaurant a try, but only when you have plenty of time to spare.

It Is to let people know that restaurants are struggling right now with staffing and I'm pretty sure it's not their fault because waiting tables doesn't pay a lot. So this review is not to ding them at all. It's to let you know they have great food, fun drinks and it may take a little bit of time to get your dinner.

We went for dinner after reading so many glowing reviews online - but we definitely walked away confused and disappointed. The waitstaff was incredibly curt until the bill came - then she became friendly and polite.

Though we all ordered at the same time, two dishes came out about ~15 minutes before the others, and then the final two took another 5 minutes. The food itself was decent, but nothing to be amazed about. One dish had the wrong kind of protein, and two dishes had stray pieces of protein that were not asked for. At the end of our meal, we asked the waitress if we could have their sticky rice with mango and she looked at us like we were crazy. “Mango is out of season, come back next year” was all she said. It’s a valid response, but she acted like we were ridiculous for even asking.

Overall, the food was decent but nothing special, the atmosphere felt outdated, and the waitstaff was uninterested until it was time to pay. Will not be going back.

I travel all over the world for work and this place has some of the BEST curry I’ve ever had. It is beyond ridiculous. They also have incredibly inexpensive cocktails, $6.95 for a delicious Tanqueray martini? YES PLEASE. I haven’t had one bad menu with delivery OR in the restaurant yet, and I doubt I will. The service is amazing, it’s nice and quiet, super clean & well put together.

Can’t wait to find a reason to visit Madison again so I can explore and enjoy more menu items.

Great food & incredible service!

Background: I'm a college student at UW & love Thai food. We were chatting with the waitress after our meal and she told us t wait a minute. Then she came back with two extra containers of Curry - free of charge! Truly made my week :-)

Very, very good Thai food. I think this is the best in Madison hands down above Thai Noodles and Curry in the Box. I first tried Thai food in Seattle and finally something reminds me of that. :) The location by West Towne mall is superior to the one on University Ave. The other restaurants aren't "bad" by any means, just not nearly as good.

This was the worst dining experience we've had in Madison.

The smell of the restaurant was musty, but that didn't dissuade us because we wanted Thai food and we wanted to eat in (we would normally have Thai Basil).

We ordered appetizers (pictured) and they were okay, not great... but my niece ordered larb chicken and it was delivered with a spoon that smelled of mildew so bad that it made all of us gag.

The waitress didn't seem to care but offered to replace the meal with another, but our appetite was lost. If you are craving Thai DO NOT GO HERE!!

We spent $60 on food we couldn't eat. Wish we had taken pictures of the entrees but it was down hill after that, so it slipped my mind. Be warned.

I was enjoying my meal with my friend, when an older waitress suddenly took my half empty plate telling me that "I am done with my food."
I guess they want to cycle out their customers as quickly as possible, since I was there for only 40 minutes or so.
The service is also very slow. It always takes a very long time for meals to arrive.
Overall, I am not impressed and I doubt that I'll go back.

I found the location was within walking distance from my hotel and made the trip. Once there, I found a very clean interior and helpful host to take my order. I chose a spicy dish with chicken and basil and asked for it to go. The host helped with the spiciness request and also offered utensils before I left with my order. Upon arriving at my hotel room, I opened the bag to find a plentiful amount of food, perfectly prepared and seasoned. I would highly recommend this place!

My gf, co-worker and me were in the mood for some Thai so we decided on SBT. The restaurant has nice ambience upon entering and it feels upscale. We sat by the window overlooking the small lake. We ordered 2 types of curries, vermicelli shrimp appetizer, Tom Ka soup and Drunken noodles.

The food was good overall. The curries were a little salty for my taste but the drunken noodles were an absolute hit. We would def return to this eatery when in town again. Waitress was very nice and engaging.

Asked a friend who lives in Madison where to get good Thai food. Glad I asked! Fast and easy ordering, ready on-time for pick up, perfectly cooked and delicious #42! I forgot to indicate spice level but even mild was very flavorful. I will order here again when in town.
