I tried this place two months ago. I decided to try it again.

I had onion bricks, onion rings. They were okay, nothing extraordinary.

I had the coconut shrimp. It was good but not extraordinary.

I say the highlight of my meal was the drink. I had the papaya margarita, with Patron tequila. It came in a mini Patron tequila bottle made for serving drinks.

Mexican food Elevated! One of the finest restaurants for Mexican food with some additional menu items to fuse you to the table!!! So delicious- reminded me of being in a 5-star resort south of the border!
Entrance from Main Street level or from the fabulous West Bend Riverwalk!
We were a party of 5 and were somewhat concerned with the low volume of patrons- but Holy Cow- with the quality and quantity of this food- the restaurant should be jam packed!
We will be back- but you may have to fight us for a table! Get over to Sabor a Mezcal fusion bar and grill ASAP!!!!!

*Update 8/2: Stopped in with a couple friends yesterday looking to get lunch. There was only one other customer. The hostess (didn’t catch her name) told us we’d have to eat at the bar because they were getting ready for an event. We instantly felt unwelcome, like we knew the service would be subpar because this event was more important. We left and had a lovely time at Game Over.

What a wonderful experience. Luis the bartender knows hospitality like the back of his hand. Don’t let the higher prices scare you away, the food is worth every penny. I had the best fish taco of my life here!

We came from Kenosha to see what West Bend has to offer. My husband did some research and found this restaurant and made reservations on a Saturday night. Upon our 6pm arrival we were greeted and sat promptly. There was only one other couple seated at the time, so reservations was not needed. I ordered a cocktail called the Smoky Fire $15 and my husband ordered the Fire Margarita $13. When the drinks came out they were identical cocktails. For dinner I ordered the Wet Birria burrito and my husband had the Quesabirria tacos. Both dishes were a Chef's kiss. The only critique is that the Quesabirria picture on the menu looked different than what we got, and our drinks did not come with the listed ingredients on their cocktail menu. Plus the online menu had bloody marys but we were told they do not make them there. So maybe keep the online menu up to date because we both love bloody's. However the drinks we did get tasted amazing. Just not what was described.
I am not sure why I am unable to post pictures or I would!
We would definetly come back!

Tried this place last nite, first time. Sadly, I will not return. The salad I ordered and the salad I received weren't even close.
I was served a bowl of iceberg lettuce, slivered almonds, dried cranberries, and croutons. Not one of the 4 things listed on the menu was in my salad. After we all received our food, we had to ask for silverware. Halfway through eating, they asked how things were, we brought up that the salad was all wrong. They offered to find some mandarin oranges to throw on. Really?

The atmosphere feels a bit more like a breakfast diner than a Mexican restaurant which was a bit of a surprise, but we didn't mind - check out sabor a mexcal if you want great food and kind, attentive service! With short notice on a Saturday night we brought 14 people to eat. 8 adults and 6 near teens. Our server Semila? was outstanding. The drinks 🍸 were delicious. The main courses especially the ones with ribeye did not disappoint. We all are fans of Sabor. We'd like a bit more atmosphere in music, murals on the wall etc. All will come in time. I ordered through Uber Eats. I ordered the three ribeye tacos with onion and cilantro. There is supposed to be three tacos from what I seen and I only got two and on top of that, the taco had two very thin slices of onion that is it. Where is the onion? It says onion and cilantro. The meat covers a small portion of the taco shell, but not the whole thing. So I paid for threefold tacos, I only got two tacos and those two tacos only had enough meat to cover half and one had two very thin small slices of onion and the second one had one piece of onion. I tried this place for the first time and I will not eat here again. I didn't get what I paid for at all. The beans had a very funny taste. I know they came from a can but they almost taste like fish. The rice to me because it's very sticky either it's old or it came out of a box. I'm just very disappointed maybe it's not box or canned beans but whoever made it didn't do a good job, to short me a taco that I paid for, and then only put one slice in another Taco two slice of onion is ridiculous and not enough meat to even cover them

I have been here twice. Had same meal both times. Great salsa options with the chips. The shrimp aquachile is amazing. I had a michelada…not too spicy. Service was much better this last visit. The down side is the location. You almost have to know it’s there. Located in the lower level. We can’t wait to try the patio this summer.

It was absolutely amazing. Please visit this authentic hidden gem in downtown West Bend! I honestly love this place more than casa tequila. The owner & staff are super friendly, kind, and personable. They had this amazing verde salsa and sent some extra home with us. In the past my husband and I have been to Oaxaca. The food reminded us of some of the things we ate there. I mentioned it, and sure enough they were from Oaxaca. The food is authentic, and homemade. I highly recommend eating here! The portions were generous and I feel you definitely get a bang for your buck! The seating is comfortable and spacious. Sometimes I feel like restaurants really over pack their seating arrangements to where it is difficult to have an intimate private family dinner. Here definitely does not overpack their seating. You do not feel like you are sitting on top of people or need to go through a maze of tables and people to leave/get to the bathroom!

Overall great experience from this authentic homemade Hispanic food!

Restaurant experience was good until we received our bill. I had the $30 Clipp deal and waitress refused to honor it and said it was a scam. She took the hard copy of the deal to her manager and by the time she came back to our table, the deal had been redeemed according to my app. But they still refused to honor it and take $30 off my bill. I told them the deal was just redeemed in the last 5 minutes and showed them my phone stating it was redeemed and our bill was still the original amount. They continued to stand by their words that the Clipp offer was a scam. They took $15 off our bill after about 20 minutes of back and forth. What a shame that a business has to operate in that manner and refuse to follow the rules of the contract they signed with Clipp. I contacted Clipp and they refunded my original money that I spent to purchase this deal. Needless to say, we will not be back to this restaurant. I apologize to the wonderful waitress that was caught in the middle of this mess and want her to know this had nothing to do with her service. She was doing her job and had to deal with a manager that has been scamming customers of their Clipp deals.

2nd time trying this place. Wasn't any better the 2nd time. My wife ordered the Texas burrito, had a strong cinnamon and ginger flavor to it which was very off putting. They said it was only seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic. We both tried it and it was very off putting. Then saw in a previous review someone else commented on the weird flavor and the management team responded that they use a beef barria, which is a merinade that contains cinnamon, ginger and toher ingredients. They alsobsaos in thebreview ots not ribeye, but rib barria. The ribeye tacos were very good, the ribeye actually tasted like we expected. They took the Texas burrito off and my wife then ordered the shrimp tacos, which she ended up loving. Little too much cheese, but much better then the beef barria in the Texas burrito.
The bartender was really good and kind as well. The women that said she was the manager was pretty terrible. She wasn't rude or anything, she just seemed to not really understand or know what she was doing. After the bartender told us he would take it off and replace the burrito with the shrimp tacos the women that said she was the manager came over about 10 minutes later and asked what she could do for us. My wife explained the bartender had already taken care of it. She interrupted us and said No no I'm the manager I am the one to decide. It was the weirdest thing ever. Also she didn't recommend the shrimp and proceeded to tell us she was not a seafood girl and tried to recommend something else. Again just really weird. It was also kinda weird because earlier after we had placed our order she had come up to us and asked if we needed help ordering. We explained to her we had already ordered. She then asked if we needed any help with the menu and ordering. We had to have the bartender explain to her we ordered food already. Not sure if she didn't understand or wasn't really listening to us. Her behavior the entire night was very offputting and it wasn't just with us. There was a table near us that she brought there food out to and the people had to tell her several times that wasn't what they ordered. With a very puzzled look on her face she had to ask the bartender what they ordered. After he asked what she brought them he told her that she had the wrong table. She then tried to pass it off that the bartender placed the order wrong however a few minutes later a server appeared at their table with the correct items without them having to tell them what they had ordered. Again she just made the visit for us and others uncomfortable. In recap the texas burrito was horrible with with a weird off-putting cinnamon and ginger flavor, the ribeye tacos and the shrimp tacos were absolutely wonderful. The chips and salsa was neither good or bad but the oil they fried the chips in seemed like it was old or turned to high. The drinks the bartender made were well balanced with just the right amount of alcohol. The margarita was perfect as well strong enough that you felt it but didn't overpower the taste and best of all it wasn't overly sweet. The feel in the place is also a little weird but it might have just how the person calling herself the manager was acting. She was trying way to hard to let us know she was the manager and just made the entire experience very weird and uncomfortable. Despite her we will be back. Will just do our best to avoid her. Had it not been for her the night would have been much better. Had it not been for her we would have rated the serve 4 or 5 and the atmosphere a 3, it's in a basement and has a basement feel to it. They did little to transform the space.

First off I ordered on Uber eats for pick up and I was not impressed with the service.. I pick it up and the young lady provided terrible customer service. I said I’m here to pick up the food and she didn’t even respond. Secondly they missed food and drink in my order. Thirdly, this place has terrible food. Not authentic whatsoever. The quesabirria tacos has no cheese at all and the meat had no sazón. The chile relleno was awful and they used frozen veggies that were not even cooked. The fish tacos were terrible as they were overcooked with no flavor. Lastly, the rice and beans had no flavor whatsoever and tasted like cardboard… Keep supporting La Mexicana because this place is a travesty of a restaurant. Figure it out. Avócate is brown too.

Was so looking forward to dining here. Went on a Friday night around 530. Had a show to attend next door at 730
There was no bartender visible. We ordered a happy hour margaritas and waited for our friends to arrive. Chips and salsa were served, they were good.
Friends arrived at 545 and ordered margaritas. Our food order was taken around 6p. Still no drinks. Waitress apologized, said they were working on them. Around 630, still no drinks. .that's a 45 min wait. Drinks finally arrived..they were a good deal for $6. Had to ask again about our food. 2 of us ordered the California burrito...beef, beans and cheese. When we cut open the burritos..nothing but dry beef...like pot roast. Now it was close to 7 and we wanted to get to the show. They offered to make another meal and we declined.
They did take the meals off the bill, but that took a long time. Glad they tried to rectify. They were very understaffed considering a Friday night and a show next door. Just very disappointed. We did feel bad for the waitress and made sure she got a tip. Hope this is not a typical occurance.

Food was terrible. Both of us got poblano pasta and last time it was amazing. This time something was spoiled in the sauce from them making it the day prior. It was super sweet and not good.

Even though I made a reservation, they said there were no tables available outside once I arrived. The indoor atmosphere was like a basement.
The service in the beginning was slow, we didn't receive drinks until our food came, but after we ordered then our food arrived very fast.

Top notch service tonight by our bartender JT. Made us phenomenal drinks…pineapple margarita and a jalepeno margarita!!! Absolutely wonderful experience. Had a fantastic pineapple daiquiri to start. Then we shared the cheese fondue with flour tortillas. This could have been a meal in of itself and it was fantastic. I am so thrilled that we happened upon this place. The deconstructed tuna tostada was SO fresh and bursting with flavor. We learned a lot about the Oaxacan food and some history from our waitress. We knew this restaurant had joined the many amazing establishments downtown…but they were tricky to find since they don’t have signage out front yet. Thankfully Google helped us get to the right place. I wish we could have eaten on the patio but it had just rained. The service was very friendly and helpful. We loved the kids menu options and were glad the kids could join us for a nice meal (and they loved it too…they even helped us get some tacos for one of the kids even though it wasn’t on the kids menu at the time). I ordered the ribeye tacos and they were delicious (though only order if you like ribeye), loved the toppings. I also loved the rice and beans…honestly wish they had more on the plate. My husband ordered the burrito and it was giant! He even had leftovers! The menu honestly had a bunch of awesome choices that I’d love to come back and try. My only complaint was my old fashioned wasn’t great & the lighting is a little off in the dining area. Wish it felt cozier (they did have the tv on the fireplace which was nice). The friendliness of the service and great menu are worth coming in for!

My husband and I went here for lunch. The staff was so informative of the food and drinks. I ordered a margarita and it was the best margarita I’ve ever had! We had pulled pork and ribeye tacos and they were delicious! I typically get fatty pieces when I get pulled pork tacos and I had zero fatty pieces in my tacos and my husband loved his tacos! Meh….full disclosure I am kind of a Mexican food snob. Not much outside of Milwaukee piques my interest. We have been to Sabor twice now and the first time we just had drinks and an app (nachos) at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and informative. It wasn’t busy so he was very attentive. The nachos were good too. The second time we went was on a busier night and we still had good service, but my hubby and I shared fajitas and they had no seasoning on them. It was basically grilled chicken with vegetables. I asked for pico de gallo to give it some flavor, but it didn’t help much. I was surprised. The other thing that bothers me is the cost of the food. It’s so expensive for something that I could get somewhere else for way less.

Was absolutely impressed beyond belief with this new restaurant! The service was absolutely fantastic. The server and another staff member took time to come out and chat and ask about our service, our day and share a little about the restaurant. They were extremely attentive. The food options were amazing. I had the chips with artichoke dip and the chicken pastor tacos. My friend had the champion soup in the sourdough bowl. Server told us they make everything fresh and make the sourdough bread themselves along with all their pastries. The food was absolutely delicious! This was my second visit. My first visit was very good. Food and service were fantastic. Tonight I had gone with my husband. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Chips and salsa were brought to our table within a couple minutes. So far, so good. Then we sat. And sat some more. And then a little while longer, until 20 minutes had gone by and not one server came to our table. We saw multiple servers. People who sat down after us got service before we did. The food was sooooo good!! We got the steak nachos and they were more than enough for two people to share as a meal. We also got some tacos that were yummy. The restaurant is a little hidden from view but definitely a hidden gem in West Bend.

Had dinner here with a friend and enjoyed everything! The bartenders were very passionate about their craft cocktails and served us some top notch margaritas. We shared the shrimp aquachile that was very fresh - it was a great light & flavorful appetizer to start with.

I had the Quesabirria ribeye tacos and the meat was perfectly seasoned and juicy!! Rice and beans tasted authentic as well. You can tell they really put effort and care into their food and drinks. Service was on point as well! 10/10 would recommend! West Bend is so lucky to have this new gem on the block.

Our first time eating here and we weren’t disappointed. What a great lunch, all of us had something different and all of us raved about the food. I had the Texas Burrito and it was the best I’ve ever had. I asked for red sauce on the side. Very tasty. The service was great as well. Look forward to coming back.

We decided to check this place out for our Valentines dinner. The place is clean and the service was very decent. I wouldn't say perfect because the waitress forgot our water and tableware. The food would be the lowspot as the wrt ribeye burrito had zero ribeye in it the meat that I got was nothing more than chuck roast. I'd say if you like rice and lots of beans it would be perfect. We will probably chose a more established place next time that actually serves you what is on the menu.

Dan? I believe the head bartender is great. Never had Mezcal before and he went in depth on it and the drinks they served. Really enjoyed the non spicy one.

Nachos were pretty just OK. A lot of the ingredients were kinda cold besides the chicken. Presentation was nice but wasn't too keen on it as a nacho conissuir. I'll definitely be coming again to try a main dish.

Food was perfect had the Margaritas as well as the Ribeye Fajitas. My waiter was very professional and attended us the whole night, but as a multiple restaurant owner myself on Wells St. I couldn't fail to notice that a food runner in this establishment was killing the wait time for my meal did not get her name. Would not recommend this place at all there are way better Mexican restaurants around here than this place. Server was never to be found and had to go to the bar for my own drinks. That took forever as the bartender didn’t even know the drink menu or what glass to put the drinks in. Will not be coming here in the future.

I had the Wet Burrito. Friends had shrimp tacos and chicken pineapple tacos. Happy hour margaritas 2 for 12 can be ordered at the dining table. Ask for the chips and salsa, available complimentary with 3 gourmet sauces. Restraunt could use more ambiance. Acoustics, with people chatting gets loud. Servers are helpful and friendly.
