Ordered the tasting menu and the food runners didn’t even know what was in each dish. Of the 5 dishes including dessert, 3 had mint. The pasta course was undercooked and the eggplant in it was salted but not rested prior to undercooking it. The fried fish was tasty, but definitely wasn’t salted after coming out of the frier and no lemon was served with it. I ordered a bourbon old fashioned and it was way too sweet to where I couldn’t taste the alcohol. Then when the bill came they charged for an extra glass of wine and said “didn’t you drink it?” I said no, I asked you not to bring it since you didn’t bring it with the previous course and dessert was up next. Good concept, and I know many have had great experiences including my friend who suggested it.

I discovered Sagra thanks to American Express and Resy. This is easily my absolute favorite restaurant in La Crosse, and the finest dining experience in the city. The food is incredible. Fresh, local ingredients and impeccably prepared. The menu is wonderful and has some outstanding, unique and delicious offerings. Great wine list, excellent cocktails and the root beer is a must try. Staff is amazing, classy and very attentive. Great for date nights, business dinners, or happy hour cocktails. A truly memorable experience and highly recommended.

Sagra is an Italian Eatery above Piggy’s on Front Street in La Crosse. It was recommended to us by several residents. It did not disappoint. We started with an Arancini appetizer. We have had arancini before, but NEVER like this. It’s the best we have ever had. Instead of being rice heavy, it was cheese heavy. They were almost like a Wisconsin cheese curd. The pecorino, a mixture of Italian cheeses, was melty and delicious, especially dipped in the buttermilk dipping sauce. We also ordered the special appetizer, fried wax beans. The breading was very light, almost like tempura. The dipping sauce added the flavor. They were good, but the Arancini definitely stood out. For entrees we got a crawfish dish and a chicken dish. Both were generous portions, which allowed us to have leftovers for lunch the following day. The Crawfish Fra Diavola was filled with crawfish and was very flavorful with fresh ingredients. The Chicken Scarpariello was delicious. The polenta was rich and creamy. The chicken comes bone in and skin on, which keeps it juicy. This dish also had Italian sausage and fresh vegetables. I really enjoyed the Italian sausage as a contrast to the chicken. The only disappointment was when we asked the waitress what 5 dishes were on the “chef’s market menu,” she didn’t know and really wouldn’t elaborate. I wanted to try that, but at $58 per person, the requirement for full table participation, and no information, I wasn’t willing to take the chance.

We went to this Restaurant because so many people were recommending me. So me and group of my friends (5 people) came a couple weeks ago on Thursday night 7 pm in the rainy day.
The lady server was so ignored us for a while . She only served us appetizers and food then fill our waters that’s all.
After we ordered everything. We got our drinks which were take for a while.
They appetizers were so good!!!
But all ours main food took soooooo long (1.30 hrs) we were talking and done with our drinks to killing the time.

Food is excellent! But time consuming and not great service for slow day.

Update 2025: Sagra DIDN'T stay low-key for very long. You will enjoy multiple courses and an exclusive night with your friends or loved ones. We love the rotating menu where you can always try new things. You don't feel rushed as you savor each beautifully plated and delicious dish. Sagra quickly became our favorite spot, not only because of the amazing food, but also because of the inviting and relaxing atmosphere. They offer such a unique dining experience for the La Crosse area, and you will truly feel special for the evening, not to mention well-fed as well. Mitch, Katie and their team are amazing. Visiting La Crosse for the weekend and went to SAGRA Food and Wine for dinner. Hands down, some of the best food I've had recently! The freshness of the ingredients and the unique flavors in the spring turnip salad were unforgettable. I had the half chicken with polenta and asparagus while my husband opted for the walleye milanese. Both were amazing! Staff were attentive and made our dining experience memorable. Don’t expect any menu items from Olive Garden.
It was a bit different when deciding on what dish to order. Their menus change depending on fresh available ingredients.
We had 2 people, ordered2 dishes and shared. Delicious.

This is upstairs, I think an elevator was there in the building.

The food is decent and excellent for the La Crosse area but would be above average in more competitive markets. The food is on the slightly bland side and meat isn't cooked like you'd expect at a great place (on the dry/overcooked end for both chicken and pork)

The portions are quite large and it's almost family style rather than individual settings.

The atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant was wonderful- because of the mood lighting and personal tea lamps on each of the tables it felt private and romantic, but also the dining room filled with people all enjoying great food and drinks made the vibe feel, easily enjoyable and fun! This was our 3rd time coming here. First two times were amazing. Last night, not so much. My chicken Alfredo was so bland and just off putting I couldn’t eat it. I make better at home. Even the table behind us (we overheard them) say their Alfredo tasted weird. Just not good. Then my husband’s crawfish diavlo had a good flavor, but the noodles were hard. I’m not exaggerating. Not al dente. Hard. The only saving grace was the service was good and the cannoli we got was delicious. Maybe they had an off night, but it was unfortunate as we went for our anniversary. Just wasn’t the experience we were hoping for.

This is the best place to have dinner right now in La Crosse. From the moment we entered this space, we were welcomed by incredible service. Our server (Katy) was kind, thoughtful, and extremely helpful throughout the entire evening. The pasta was delicious and I couldn't believe the hearty portion sizes we got!

I'd recommend this place to anybody and it's obvious that a lot of care has been put into this place. You'll be in good hands sitting down for dinner here.

My only regret is not being in town for Meatball Monday! Next time I'll extend my stay a day just for that!

Visiting La Crosse for our anniversary and made a 7pm reservation for dinner with no expectations other than tasty pasta! I ended up really craving something on the lighter side (I know, not always easy with pasta). Since we had a late reservation they were out of noodles for their lasagna so I got the current Bianco. Ah-mazing! The crunch from breadcrumbs and small amounts of cabbage were so amazing alongside the light cream sauce and chicken. They also did a great job at having non-alcoholic drink rec for the dish. Beyond pasta their antipasto section was spectacular! Marinated olives and arancini was a great beginning to the meal. A very extensive drink list that has plentiful options of non-alcoholic drinks as well. Ended the evening with a pumpkin tiramisu! My husband had the vodka pasta and a cocktail, all really tasty.

Overall is a great place for decently sized portions, super tasty drinks (both NA and alc), and a cozy environment. Service was the perfect combo of personable and professional. Will definitely be craving the Bianco and attempting to return to LaX sooner their later to see what is on their menu next.

If I tried, I could probably find something to complain about, but I'd rather not: the artichoke dip was light, the focaccia was toothsome and homey, the kale something-or-other sauce was bright and summery, the meatball (it was meatball Monday) was a perfect match to the bucket of cold Old Style (with Manzanilla garnish!) my brother had and the 1919 root beer I had, and the wait staff was sweet and attentive. All great. But the mezzanotte cake was a freak show, and the thing I'll make everybody I know try if they're ever in La Crosse: barely sweet, malty, ever-so-slightly salty chocolate cake resting between a bed and blanket of crema as light as a putto's prepuzio. And wait, maybe a tiny bit of anise in there? Follia! I'll be back as soon as I can!

One of the best meals I’ve had in la crosse. Wonderful food, drinks and service. It’s on the upper level of the piggy’s building, with a chalk board sidewalk sign, so maybe a little tricky to find. They even have a tasting menu which I haven’t seen since I lived in California. Our table had a view of the Weber center which currently has a giant dumpster outside of it, but I’m sure normally it’s a nice view! Decor is modern-rustic.

Food and atmosphere was excellent. Everything was clearly made farm to table fresh and the ingredients were selected and switched out based on what was available and also what was good. The pace of the meal was amazing. It was a small group of friends that went out for a night and before we knew it, a bottle of wine was split and two hours had passed. We never felt rushed, our food was paced excellently and the taste was 10/10. The fact that the menu is dictated by what's in season and available at local farms and establishments makes the rotating menu a constant surprise, and one we are excited to try again. First and foremost, SAGRA deserves to be listed in the Michelin Guide as a bib gourmand. I don't go out for Italian all that often because I feel that it's hard to justify $30+ for a pasta dish in Chicago, but my partner brought me here for a quiet dinner during our holiday weekend and I was frankly blown away. We did the tasting menu, which was a steal at $55 a person, and included around 5 nearly entree-sized courses containing locally sourced ingredients and house-made fresh pasta. Our server was awesome, drinks were amazing (try the No Jacket Required cocktail), and the whole restaurant just has a cozy, upscale, but unpretentious vibe. Will definitely be back, can't wait to see what the future holds for them.

Crawfish pasta was unique - nothing like I’ve had before. Italian inspired but still stood on its own. I could tell care was put into it. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. I went on Monday and there was a special on meatballs. We started off the night with the spinach artichoke dip with soft yet crisp bread and a meatball to share. Then, my fiancé and I enjoyed easily the best pasta we’ve ever had. What a delightful restaurant. After a disappointing dinner elsewhere, we were left wanting so we decided to call SAGRA hoping for some takeout redemption. Mission accomplished.
Katie was awesome and texted us a current menu so we could decide what to order. She was super kind and helpful and is the main reason I’m taking the time to write this review.
The food was delicious. Even after making the 15min drive home. Appetizer, entree, and dessert all exceeded expectations and blew the other restaurant out of the park.

We had a simply wonderful experience at Sagra. While making the reservation, they asked if I had any dietary concerns or questions, and I told them a member of my party could not eat dairy.

When we arrived, our server greeted us and had already spoken with the chef, who had arranged for several options for us from each part of their menu. We were blown away by their thoughtfulness and consideration. It really made our dinner so much more enjoyable to not have to guess and hope for the best.

Beyond all of that, the food was excellent, wine and cocktail selection was great, and the atmosphere was wonderful.

I really can't say enough about this gem. I'm so glad a stranger recommended it to us while we were visiting La Crosse.

Love this place. I called to order take out and I’d accidentally ordered off of an old menu - they texted me the new menu and I called back but they didn’t answer. They called me back and apologized for not answering and gave me an extra entree and dessert. Such nice people and such amazing food.

I enjoyed every part of this meal. We had a reservation at 7:30, arrived about 25 minutes early and were seated right away. Our server was friendly, attentive but not overwhelming. He timed putting our orders in very well so our food wasn’t on top of each other. We were there for almost an hour and a half just enjoying our food and never felt rushed. It was nice to be on Italian time and enjoy the meal. We started with an appetizer and a salad. Both fresh and full of flavor. Then we each ordered a pasta dish. I love that the menu changes with the season and that they use local ingredients. The restaurant is on the upstairs of Piggy’s and is fairly small, which makes it feel more intimate. You don’t need to be super dressed up as it felt “fancy” but casual. They chef would come out and cut fresh prosciutto for one of the dishes throughout the night on one of the tables; it was fun to watch throughout the meal. We ended our night with a lemongrass gelato. Overall a really delicious meal for a good price. We were able to take home leftovers. Entrance is through Piggy’s and upstairs to the right via stairs or elevator.

First time visiting and it definitely won’t be the last! Service was great, food was amazing, ambiance was warm and comfortable. Would be a great place for a date. Food presentation was next level. The chef’s choice 5 course meal was fantastic! It ended up being 10 different menu items, and every dish was great. The tiramisu was the best I’ve ever had. SAGRA is a must-eat spot in the region.

Sagra is an incredible restaurant run by some very passionate, welcoming, and talented people. Every bit of our meal was amazing from the table-side super thin sliced prosciutto, to the incredible apps with very fresh seasonal ingredients and quite possibly some of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever tried. They make their pasta all in-house and the quality is incredible. We decided to order everything almost family-style so we could try a little bit of the whole menu that day and there wasn’t a single bite that didn’t wow us all.
Our server Sunny is a gem. A genuine, warm, and attentive server. It was so great to see a server so engaging and authentic.
The owner/chef Mitchel was so much fun to talk to and by the end of the dinner we felt like we had been welcomed to his own dinner table like we were friends.
Everyone that worked there really seemed to enjoy being there and sharing their culinary vision with us.
I almost forgot about dessert! Strawberry tiramisu and gelato with E.L. Fudge cookies - it was a a great little garnish of nostalgia.

If you’re in or even anywhere near La Crosse, you absolutely must check Sagra out.

After months of our neighbors raving about this place, we finally went. It is absolutely amazing! The service is great. Waiting staff is very attentive. The chef is amazing and will even come out to chat. He is so creative with his dishes. There were so many choices we went with the 5 Course Meal so we could try a variety. I recommend having more that 2 adults and 2 kids. 🤣 However, we now have some great left overs. We will be going back for sure! Our kid can be picky but they really enjoyed the more adult flavors! Especially the homemade mint gelato. This is my new favorite restaurant in La Crosse.

Found this gem last summer, and been regular ever since. It was so delicious that I won't mind driving for one hour almost every Sunday.

Chef Mitchel and the crew always gave us the best food & service. You can feel the passion of the chef through the food.

I always feel satisfied and have been introduced to all my family and friends.

Hands down the best food in La Crosse. Locally sourced, made in house, high quality, and care. Everything that I have had here is divine and there’s nothing like it in the area. If you care about food this is the place to go, dress it up, dress it down. The attitude of “we’re just here to serve good food” is 100% what brings me back. If you have thought about going just do it.

There are some “unfamiliar” items on the menu, but if you’re unsure just ask for chef’s recommendations and I assure you it wont disappoint.

Beautiful restaurant great food and top notch service. My wife and I enjoyed fried calamari appetizer to start with a wonderful cream dip. She had a terrific lamb and pasta dish and my selection was a delicious Lake Trout with greens including asparagus, artichoke, mint and turnip greens. The owner/chef stopped by to answer any questions about the dishes prior to placing our order. We highly recommend Sagra!

So close to 5 stars for me - I think if there was some more training / personnel rearrangment, it could be better, though. Also, I've worked in food service before this is overly critical.

The food was incredible. GO on Monday for Meatball Monday! I had Straciatella (creative) and All'amatriciana (love guanciale) + 1 Meatball. For the food 10 stars, authentic and worth the price. Pasta is home-made and amazing for sure.

On Meatball Mondays, there is one drink special, the Negroni. My waiter didn't know what a Negroni was when I asked the ingredients... and then came back and said Gin + some sort of mixer 😂... like.... Dude, there's only ONE special drink on there.....So, it definitely didn't sell me on it, and I chose a glass of red wine... Which would have been great to have if he hadn't then forgotten it. But the host was so on top of checking the whole room that he eventually brought me a glass when I asked about 20 minutes later.

The chef brought out food and talked to some guests, and the other waitress was on top of her game as I listened to her at other tables.

I also think the table side cut prosciutto is cool but I came alone so couldn't get more food.

High hopes this place will become a legend in la crosse for sure and would love to upgrade to a 5 star review once a few kinks are ironed out.

Truly an amazing vibe! Service was incredible, and our server was so knowledgeable about everything! Highly recommend splitting apps, salad, and entree orders so you can experience as much of the menu as you can! Cannot express how happy we were with the food!

Amazing authentic Italian restaurant right in downtown La Crosse. SAGRA Food and Wine ruined me for any other Italian food outside of here unless in Italy itself. We had 24-month-aged prosciutto, too compliments of the chef. I’ve never had homemade pasta and everything had so many layers of flavors it was stunning.

I have found it very difficult to find great Italian food in the La Crosse area, but this place fit the bill. It was a very beautifully curated multi-course dinner, with a wine list big enough to find your perfect pairing, but not so big to be overwhelming. We will be coming back.
